HTML Source Editor for Outlook 2010

HTML Source Editor for Outlook 2010 can be used to edit both new messages and received messages as well.

Get the addin here Via Plimus

Create a new message and look for the "Edit HTML Source" Ribbon,

The Ribbon (Toolbar) looks like this:

To edit the html source of the message just click the "Edit HTML" button,

A new window will appear:

The HTML inside that window is the original source of your message.

Now you can change it to anything you want for example:

And to Set the Message source just click the "Set Source" Button.

The "Get Source" button should be used in case you want to return to the original message html before you set it to the new html code.

The "Save" Button allow you to save the html into a file.

More Features:

"View as Text":

Allow you to see the body (content) of the message in plane text, with no formats , useful when the data at the message should be moved into a 3^rd application.

In case you want to see it using your default text editor (notepad for example), just select the "External Text Editor" at the setting panel and the text will be opened with your preferred editor.

"Add Word Version":

Will add an attachment (word 2003 .doc file) that contain the exact message, very useful to maintain the look of the original message (in case the Email Client at the other side will remove images or formats or maybe even links inside the message.

"Add RTF Version":

Will do exactly what "Add Word Version" do but with RTF format, for those who can't read Word documents.

"View in Browser":

Open the message with your default browser.

Enable you to know exactly how you recipients will see the message in their web client.

"View with Word":

Open the message in Word Editor.

Enable you to save it to a file.

A great Code Editor, with Gui Editing (on the emulator screen).

Outlook 2007: Edit your Messages HTML Source

A thing that can drive you crazy while using Outlook 2007 is the "Edit Source" feature missing.
If you are using outlook the way i do, you probably want your messages to be exactly as you think they should.

first, Open your Outlook 2007 and launch the VB Editor (alt-F11)

Download the EditHTML Module

Close the VB Editor (And save)

Add the "Edit HTML" button to the New message window:
Open a new message,
Click The Ribbon Customization Button

Select the "More Commands" Menu

Need to create Barcodes Cheaply? Try this software.

Instead of "Popular Commands" Select the "Macros"

Select the new macro created named "Project1.EditHTML"

Click The "Add" Button, Customize the new button:

and Click the "OK" button

Now, you have a new icon at the ribbon (for any new message windows)

Just Click it while editing your message

Now, your Notepad will pop with the HTML source of the message,
just change what ever you need and save the file (File menu-Save) and close the notepad.

you will see (after you close the notepad) that your outlook is waiting with a message box on it,

Just Click the OK button and the new HTML code you edit will be imported to your message.

Outlook Plug-in - Add BCC Recipient Automatically

If one of the things you need when you (or someone else) is using Outlook is that every message will have a BCC recipient/s address added automatically, this Free Outlook Add-in is exactly for you.

The Add-in made out of a single DLL file (the plug-in) named "olkAutoBCC.dll".

Install:
Just run the batch file included within the ZIP file, it will copy the DLL into your SYSTEM32 folder and will register it using regsvr32.exe.
(The location of the file is not important; you can change the path to whatever you like/need as long as you will register it using regsvr32.exe)

Uninstall:
Close your Outlook
Run regsvr32.exe “olkAutoBCC-full-path” /u (for example:
c:\>regsvr32.exe c:\olkAutoBCC.dll)
In addition, delete "olkAutoBCC.dll" from your file system.

Remove Duplicate Outlook Items

Usage:
The Add-in will look for a file name "AutoBCC.txt" at your %USERPROFILE% folder (for example: "C:\Documents and Settings\Udi\AutoBCC.txt")
You should create the file (if the file is not exist - nothing will happened, the message will be delivered without the BCC)
Edit the file (Notepad or your favorite text editor) and write the addresses you want to BCC (each address in a line - support multiple BCC recipients)
Save the file and send a new message.

How can you verify that everything is ok?
Open the message you have just sent and check the BCC line, if you find all your recipients there you are good.

If you need a silent BCC (a BCC that does not appear at the message saved at the "sent items") you might want to look at this Outlook Add-in - Outlook Secure Copy (Invisible BCC)

Utility - SpokePad: Text Editor with power tools

I want to share with you one of the tools I've created,
Its name is “SpokePad".

It is a Text Editor (Very similar to Windows Notepad), with extra power tools attached.
First: its name - since I had the intention to create a text reader, I have started it with the name "SpokePad” (it does speak) though it can do much more than that.

Outlook Plug-in - Message changes tracking

This article is intended for those of you who are using shared mailboxes for their users and need to share between those users any changes made to a message.
It is also useful for organizations that need to audit any change made to a message on its way.

This plug-in will give you the ability to see what changes was made by your colleague to the message at your shared mailbox or at the mail he just forward to you.

by changes I mean ANY change (include Read, Close, Remove/Add/Edit Recipient of any type -To/CC/BCC, Message body changes, subject changes, Internal Property changes)

This way you can know (ignoring unread/read) which colleague start handling it (and when).

First download the Archive with the plug-in dll, Outlook Module (VBA), Outlook Form (VBA) From Here.

Next, follow the installation process:

1. Extract the ZIP File into a folder at your local hard drive (“C:\OutlookTrack\” for example)
2. Drag the file olkTracking.dll to the regsvr32.exe shortcut.

Successful registration will look like this:

3. Launch Outlook and Click Alt-F11 in order to open the VBA Editor. Alternatively, use the “Tools” Menu -> “Macro” -> “Visual Basic Editor”

4. Click The “File” Menu -> “Import File…”

5. Select the file “msgTrack.frm” and Click the “Open” Button.
6. Repeat the Import Action for the file “msgTrack.bas”.

The result should look like this:

7. Open a message at your inbox and right click the area around the Office button:

8. Select the “Customize Quick Access Toolbar…”

9. Change the command source to “Macros” And select the new macro that just been added to your Outlook (our last import)

Click the “Add >>” Button.

You can now customize the look of the new button:
Click the “Modify…” button, Select an icon that suites you.
(You can also change the Display Name, in case you want him to be visible)

Now just Click the new button in your message and Track it…

Get your External IP address in a batch process (command line)

If you are familiar with the frustration where you need your External IP address and the only way to do it (you think) is to open your browser and navigate to whatismyip or a similar, this post might do you good.

In this post, we will do several things:
1. We will learn how to create our own simple developing environment.
2. We will compile a very basic command line application (don’t worry I will provide the source)
3. We will use that new application for our needs (discover what is our external IP in a batch program - we will use those web sites but not in a browser)

So let’s begin,
Software we need:
a. Jens’ File Editor
b. BCX – Basic to C Translator/
c. LCC – C Compiler/
d. Source Files

After installing that precious software, let’s configure them to work with each other,
Open the JFE editor, add the BCX translator, LCC Compiler, LCC Linker buttons to it:
Go to “Settings --> Add tool”

Add those 3 tools:

(Parameters for the link button:
"$PATH\$NAME.obj" -s -output:"$PATH\$NAME.exe" -subsystem:console wsock32.lib wininet.lib urlmon.lib shell32.lib)

For me, JFE looks like this (our small source code already opened in it):

Now we will translate it to C source, just click the BCX button you have created earlier:

Drag your new “IPEX.C” file into JFE:

You can combine it with an email batch sending application (and maybe a schedule task) that will send you a message once a day with your home/office external IP (for dynamic IP’s) or any command line combination you want.

Outlook Plug-in: External Watch - Get Alert when a message is designate outside your organization.

Have you ever asked yourself how can you alert your CEO that the message s/he is about to Reply (Reply All - 28 recipients...) is about to fly out from your organization Exchange Server to another company's mail servers?

Well if you did, then here is a simple way to do so:

I have created a simple Add-in for Microsoft Outlook (2000, 2003, and 2007) for this single purpose.
Let's see how it works:

Your Exchange user is receiving a message that requests him to reply-all with a sensitive business data.

S/He then clicks the reply all button.

(In a single recipient message, it is easy to see the problem, but what about the 28 recipient messages that your CEO almost replied to)

And add the information requested at the mail:

S/He clicks the Send Button.

As you can see, there is now a modal message that indicates that the message designated outside the company.

You can now return to the message and remove/replace the problematic recipient/s, or click the "More Details" button to find the problematic recipient/s.

It could be that you are aware that your message is designate to third party recipient/s; in this case, it is not a problem, just show the add-in that this is your intention and add to the end of your subject the phrase: "$OUTSIDE$", the add-in will not ask you anything and will just sent the message immediately.
(The "$OUTSIDE$" will be remove from the subject before sending the message)

How to Install:
1. Download the add-in archive from Here
or visit my Google group Home
2. Extract the archive.
3. Copy the File "olkExternalWatch.dll" to your system32 folder ("C:\windows\system32\")
4. Register it using the regsvr32.exe - "Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\olkExternalWatch.dll"
5. Restart your outlook.
(I've made a batch file that will do all the tasks above for you in a one click - "install.bat")

Thanks to Yuval Malachi that gave me the idea of creating the same plug-in but without the "$OUTSIDE$" thing (or as we called it - warn only mode)

How to uninstall:
Just unregister it using the regsvr32.exe - "Regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\olkExternalWatch.dll /u" and restart your outlook.

This post will explain to all the Excel fans out there (not the big shot developers, just the sophisticated users among us) how to create a simple macro within Microsoft Excel, and then how to use that macro to calculate a single cell value.

Ok, Let's improve our worksheets with the VBA excel macros:

Open the VBA Editor (Alt-F11).

Add a new module (or use your existing module)

Our macro will encrypt a text (very simple - just for the example, don't use it for your applications, click here for advanced encryption methods).

if you ever wanted to Utilize your network and check the latency your utilization caused , this article is intended for you.

Actually I've wrote this network tool really long time ago, and I've never published it before (don't ask why, i don't have a good answer)

So I've decided to make it ready for publish and to add it here at my Blog for the benefit of you all.

First, who need this article? in my opinion the answer is that if you found this article by a search (Prob. Google) using keyword, then you are probably the right audience for it.

What can we do with EtherStress?
Basically we can check our network (wireless network, cable network) by network utilization increase and control this by testing the latency in doing so.

Why we would like to do so?
If we want to be sure that our network will keep serve us under heavy capacity utilization, or
Maybe we will have to check if a 3rd party lines that we are using for our organization give us the best they should.
or even just to check our network configuration.

When we should use it?
Before and during any significant change that is related to the network, we don't want during production to find that our line is extremely slow... (just imaging your Boss's Red face :-)

So let's begin:
EtherStress consist of two parts (executables):
1. EtherStress.exe - The main application.
2. Ethstc.exe - TCP Client for the remote side. (used only for TCP utilization)

Network:
Destination field is the IP address of the remote side (final destination)
Latency Control: if you check the latency control option and provide the desired
latency, Etherstress will modify the utilization automatically to achieve your latency.
(Monitoring Network)

Method: (Network Connection / Connectionless)
Random Port UDP: EtherStress will send data over random UDP Port (Best for LAN)

This UDP Port: EtherStress will send data only to a specific UDP port (remote port) - Best for Preconfigured Environments

This TCP Port: EtherStress will send data only to a specific TCP Port, and if you want, you can set the local port that will be used.
[Pay Attention: if you don't have an application/service that will serve the remote port you've selected , then you will have to use Ethstc.exe as your remote client.]

(Just select the port to listen and click Listen, if no port number will be specify then the next available TCP Port will be selected.)

Utilization:
Select the utilization to start with (if latency control will be in use - it will be changed).

EtherStress is a Freeware (you don't need to pay money or any goods to become a registered user)

But, to help me figure how many users are using the software (and for what), and to enable me to keep in touch with them (regarding new versions, similar developments etc..) I do required a registration, and the process is very simple :
just send me an email with a few words about how did you heard about EtherStress and your personal involvement with it and then in reply i will send you (not immediately, it's me doing it not a robot...) a license for your name back to your mail.

the differences between Registered and NON registered users are:

1. NON registered: Latency Control limit up to 300 msec.
Registered : Latency Control is unlimited.

2. NON registered: Utilization is limit up to 1.5 Mbps
Registered : Utilization is limit up to 6 Mbps

3. NON registered: Stress period is limit to a maximum of 3 minutes.
Registered : Stress period is not time limited.

ברשומה זו נלמד כיצד ליצור משימה (task) באופן אוטומטי מתוך פריט דואר בתיבת הדואר שלנו בעזרת אאוטלוק,וגם נוכל באותה נשימה לשייך את המשימה לאנשים הרלוונטיים שאמורים לבצע אותה. (כמובן שנקבל עדכונים אוטומטיים על התקדמות המשימות)

שימו לב: כדי לנסות את המתואר ברשומה זו עליכם לערוך קוד מקור בשפת Visual Basic, עריכה זו ניתנת תמיד לשינוי ואינה קבועה אך יש להקפיד לבצע אותה ע"פ ההוראות במדויק. (במידה ולא ייתכן ותיתקלו בשגיאות ריצה למיניהן)

גרסאות אאוטלוק: הקוד ודרך השימוש נבדקו בגירסאות אאוטלוק 2003 ו-2007 והן עובדות בצורה טובה ללא תקלות, גירסאת 2000 אמורה גם להתאים אך קוד זה לא נבדק עליה בצורה מלאה. (אשמח לשמוע על הנסיון שלכם , בכל גירסא)

אז בכל זאת: איך לנהל משימות עם אאוטלוק?
לפני שנתחיל , יש לאפשר ריצה של פקודות מאקרו, איך?

הוספת קוד המאקרו:
1. לחיצה על המקשים ALT+ F11 תפתח בפנינו את עורך הקוד של Visual Basic For Applications
2. הוספת Module חדש לפרויקט (ראה צילום מסך)

3. הדבקת הקוד הבא לתוך ה-Module החדש:

4. ועכשיו נשתמש בקוד החדש:
(שימו לב: החלק הבא שונה מהותית בין אאוטלוק 2003 ואאוטלוק 2007)
בחלק זה בעצם ניצור כפתור אשר יאפשר לנו ישירות מתוך הודעת דואר לייצר באופן מיידי משימה:
אאוטלוק 2007 :
א. נפתח הודעת דואר כלשהי (אין משמעות להודעה עצמה)
ב. נקליק על החץ הקטן בפס משימות מעל ההודעה (ראה צילום מסך)

ונלחץ על התפריט "...More Commands"
ג. נבחר את מקור הפקודה כ- "Macros"
ד. נצרף את הפקודה החדשה שלנו "Smart Task" לחלק הימני. (ראה צילום מסך)

כמובן שנוכל לשנות את האייקון לכפתור החדש.

הוספת הכפתור באאוטלוק 2003 זמינה בגירסא האנגלית של רשומה זו

Task Management using outlook, How to do it??

(Attention: This article is referred to Outlook 2003 - it will work for Version 2007 with a minor changes at the button creation process)

The steps to achieve our goal are:
1. Create The Macro that will do the magic
2. Add a button at the message reading form to activate the macro
3. Use the new button

What we will get:
1. The ability to create a task directly from a mail item
2. The option to assign this task to the relevant person('s)
3. The option to notify the original sender about the new task progress

Lets Start:
1. Start your Outlook
2. Click ALT-F11 to start VBA Macro editor
3. Add a new module into your “Project1”

4. Paste the following code into the new module:

5. close the VBA Macro Editor (and save if required)
6. Open any mail item from your Inbox (it is not important which one, just open a message)
7. Right Click any empty space at the top toolbars area.
8. Select "Customize"

9. Drag the "smarttask" Macro into any place at your toolbar.

10. While the customize window is open, Right click your new button and modify its name and icon for anything you wish.

11. Now, whenever you want to create a task right from a message just click the new button

and follow the instructions...
