Kedarnath dham : Near to Heaven

After 2 years of the coronavirus pandemic, Kedarnath Temple was reopened at the end of April 2022. And we attempted to visit Kedarnath & Badrinath. It was a Hattic attempt for us because many people/pilgrims went for Char Dham Yatra after 2 years of Corona pandemic lockdown.

Char Dham are Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Kedarnath the most admired temple destination of India, Kedarnath town is nestled in the mighty Garhwal Himalayas. Kedarnath temple is located at an altitude of 3,580 m, near Chorabari glacier, which is the source of the Mandakini river. Kedarnath or Kedar Khand has exquisite architecture and is built of huge but evenly shaped grey stone slabs, inside a conical rock formation worshipers as 'Sadashiva'.

When to visit:

From the month of October on the day of Diwali to April Kedarnath Mandir and Badrinath Temple are both closed for very low temperatures and lots of snowfall all the trekking roads are closed and after April when temperatures are gradually increasing again both mandirs open.

How To Reach :

From anywhere in the world you first reach Rishikesh or Haridwar. As we travelled from Westbengal, we first reached Howrah rail station and boarded on Kumbh Express. After 36 hours of journey, we reached Haridwar at almost 11 p.m. The train was late about 9 hours.

You can also travel by Airplane to Dehradun, Jolly Grand Airport.

From Rishikesh or Dehradun, you can hire 4 wheller or you can travel by govt bus to Sonprayge from Rishikesh bus terminal.

We reached Haridwar by train and our booked hotel was at Rishikesh, on that night we reached our hotel Deb Bhumi at 12:30 am. After 2 days of stay at Rishikesh we reached Sonprayg by bus from the Rishikesh bus terminal which is almost 210 km from the Sonprayge bus terminal. It is all about an 8 to 9-hour journey. This Journey is fabulous as the road is totally upon hills and besides many beautiful and religious places where you can stay.

On the next early morning from Sonprayge, we hired a shared cab to reach Gouriprayge which is almost 2 km walking distance from Sonprayge, you can trek there. At Gouriprayg we had a small breakfast and started our trekking to Kedarnath. At Mile Stone, we saw Kedarnath's distance is 16 km, but it is 21 km because before the 2013 cloud blast, it was 16 km on the old trekking route, but a new route is 21 km and it is on the other side of Mandakini river. To reach Kedarnath it took 8 hours. The first 16 km was so easy to treak but gradually the road got more upright. At 4 pm we reached our destination, Kedarnath Dham, and watched Snadhya Arati. It was such a peaceful and devoted event that we witnessed.

We stayed at Gaytri Bhaban which is an ashram, and we stayed at Kedarnath for 2 days. We visited the Sankarachariya Memorial and Bhairab Mandir.

After Kedarnath Darsan we again return to Soanprayge. It took only 5 hours and we stayed at Soanprayge. On the next day, we have started our journey for Badrinath Dham. But just before starting the journey to Badrinath, we heard about the Triyoginarayan temple which is as prideful as other temples in Uttarakhand.

Triyoginarayan temple is famous for where Mahadev and Parvati were married. It is the most sacred place among Hindus and Nepalese. It is all around 8 km from Soanprayge and takes 30 minutes to reach that temple. 4 Wheelers are always available from Sonprayge and the fare is 150 - 200 rupees, but only one hotel is there. After spending 1 hour there we return to the Sonprayge bus terminal for Bandinath. It was really problematic to find a car for Badrinath as it was the first month of season opening and there was so much rush of pilgrims. but at last, we go in a shared car to Badrinath at 5 pm.

We reached at Badrinath 5 a.m. the next morning. Actually, we reached the Badrinath entry gate at 3 a.m. but for security purposes, the checkpost of Badrinath which is 5 km before Badrinath city was closed by BSF. So after opening the checkpost, we entered Badrinath city at 5 a.m. We explored the city for 1 hour and went to Mandir. But it was a long queue of pilgrims for puja & after 2 hours in the queue, we finally entered the mandir. After all, we returned to Badrinath bus stop at 10 a.m. to get on the bus for Rishikesh. But for the same reason we didn't get any convenience for Rishikesh, we again arranged a shared car and reached Rishikesh at the night of 11 p.m. and entered our rebooked hotel.

You can stay at Badrinath and visit some outskirt places like Mana Village, Bheem Pul, Veda Vyasa Cave and Hemkund.

What to Do :

Rishikesh is also known as Devbhumi. Here are many temples/Mandir you can visit. Also, some famous hanging bridges like Laskman Setu, Ram Setu and Sita Setu you can see. You can also go rafting on the Ganga River, Bangi jumping, paragliding and many other activities you can do.
You can stay in Davprayag where the Aloknanda and Mandakini rivers meet together named the Ganga River.
A big market along with Ganga where you can window shopping.
From Rishikesh, you can roam Mussoorie and Nainital a famous hill city.

Dooars Trip was around 650 K.M. from the Kolkata. The conditions of the roads are a bit ok, somewhere it was good and somewhere it was bumpy. We have completed the tour in two days but if you really want to explore the whole Dooars you must have 3-4 days. There was a one-night stay at Siliguri Hotel to complete the journey. Bike Trip from Kolkata to Gurdum

Gurdum Trip was one of the longest trips of udukku13. We had travelled around 1300K.M. on the bike from Kolkata to Gurdum and back. Our trip was full of surprises during our road journey let me share our experiences day-wise with you.

Day 01-

udukku13 comprises of 07 people with 04 bikes were ready to move around 05.00 A.M. on 2nd Nov 2020 from our home in Barrackpore, Kolkata. The climate was a bit cold. The whole day we rode a bike although the road (NH-19) was not in a good position it was patchy and full of potholes in it. Around 07.00 P.M. we had stopped our bike in Malda and we had covered a distance of 934 K.M. to Malda and stayed there at Hotel Paromita.

Day 02-

We had moved around 07.00 A.M. in the morning from the hotel at Malda and full day we rode the bike on NH 12 and SH 63, we have given some halts for refreshments. We had covered 357 KM. in 14 hrs. There is one thing I want to share with you there is a very bad road between Raiganj to Botalbari, it was muddy and hilly we had to ride so carefully anything can happen on this road. Finally, at night we stopped our bike at our most desired destination and that is Gurdum, we were like feeling the heavens there. Such a nice place. The rest of the night we had our meals and then slept in our hired tents in the backpacker's camp.

Day 03-

On the 3rd of our trip, we woke up and had our breakfast early in the morning then left for the track, we passed through lush green forests to see the Kanchenjunga. After this track, we got tired so took a rest at night while enjoying a campfire with barbeque.

Day 04-

On the 4th day of our trip, we went to Chatakpur for another adventure. It is about 80 K.M. from Gurdum. We had another track there to Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary. That night we stayed there in Padma Homestay.

Day 05-

This was the last day of our Gurdum Trip, we had to get back home so we woke up early and had our breakfast and got back. but this trip our a memorable trip and we don't want to get back from there we all know that we all have to get back home someday. But this was the trip we won't forget.

Best Time to visit Gurdum:-

This village can be visited throughout the year except for monsoons. Weather remains pleasant during summers(March to May) and spring(Oct to Nov). During winter (Dec to Feb) temperature is quite low but still, you can enjoy the chills.

Suggestions to Explore Gurdum (Day Wise):-

Day 01: On- First day you can travel from Baghdogra and New Jalpaiguri to Gurdum by making a short halt at Mirik and Pashupatinath Market. Take a rest at Gurdum at night.

Day 02:- Go trekking in the early morning, passing through lush green forests to see the Kanchenjunga. After this track, you will get tired so you can rest at night.

Day 03:- Next day morning enjoy your breakfast then you can go on a short river track. You can visit Gurdum village and meet with the residents there. You will feel respectfulness and hospitality there like anything. People, there are so humble and kind. At night time you can enjoy the campfire and food.

Day 04:- Next day you can come back to Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri to catch the train or your respective flight.

Bike Trip From Kolkata to Maithon

Maithon bike trip by road was started on 03 Oct and it was Sunday when we gave thrust to our bike for our most awaited destination Maithon Dam. We had to cover almost 267 km to reach Maithon. It took around 5-6 hrs to reach there by car but in our case, it took a bit more time because we explored the places coming in between our bike trip. udukku13 were riding three bikes with 06 riders. Maithon bike trip lasted for two days and we had lots of fun while visiting there.

Driving Directions to Maithon from Kolkata by Road:-

This route usually has less traffic and 267 km distance is from my home particularly but if you google it from Kolkata it is around 254 km and usually, it takes 5-6 hrs to reach Maithon by road from Kolkata, However, You can take NH19 and Jamtara road to reach there. Check the exact direction from the map below and we have also given a video below to give you the exact condition of the road.

Places to Visit In Maithon

Maithon Dam:-

Maithon Dam is found in a picturesque landscape between an attractive lake and a beautiful forest. You can have boating there and enjoy a walk in a green forest around the lake. Watching sunrise and sunset is delightful there.

Maithon Dam is located about 48K.M. distance from the coal city Dhanbad. This dam is one of its kind in Southeast Asia who is having an underground power station. Maithon Dam was built in the year 1948 by Damodar valley Corporation Limited(DVC Ltd). This is about 15712 ft long and 165 ft High. It generates about 60,000 K.W. of electric power.

Garh Panchkot:-

Garh Panchkot is a hidden archaeological site in Purulia and this is about 48 K.M. from Maithon. Garh Panchkot is located in the Panchet hills. It was a part of the Singh Deo dynasty. It has different types of architectural styles mostly made on the Panchratna style of architecture. This site still has some pre-Muslim era terracotta work on arches and pillars.

Kalyanshewari Temple:-

Kalyanshewari Temple is 500 years old centre for worshipping the goddess Shakti. It was said in legends that human sacrifices were offered in the remote past. The present temple is not very old and constructed by the Panchkot Raj. It is believed that Kalyanshewari Temple fulfils the wishes of childless mothers.

Spoon Island:-

Another beautiful spot, it is situated in the middle of Maithon lake. It is one of the islands where you must visit to feel the calmness and peacefulness of nature. It is a small island in an inverted spoon shape that why it's called a spoon island. This island is ideal for fishing. it is also called Sabuj deep.

Kali Pahari

Kali Pahari is very famous among locals because of its temple of goddess Kali. During Durga puja, it witnessed lots of Hindu devotees worshipping maa Kali.

Things to see In Bansberia:-

Hangseshwari Temple

This temple was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The main deity of this temple is the four arms goddess Hanseswari, a manifestation of goddess kali. Blue Neem wood has been used to craft it. This temple is 21 meters high and has 13 towers. All towers are shaped like lotus buds and the inner follows the human anatomy.

Ananta Vasudeva Temple

Ananta Vasudeva temple was constructed in the traditional style called ekaratana style. cornices and octagonal shapes are given to towers.

Our bike trip from Kolkata to Digha by road was started on 19 July and it was Monday when we gave thrust to our bike for our most awaited destination Digha. We had to cover almost 187 km to reach Digha.

Driving Directions to Digha from Kolkata by Road:-

This route usually has less traffic and 187 km distance is from my home particularly but if you google it from Kolkata it is around 184 km and usually, it takes 5-6 hrs to reach Digha by road from Kolkata, but in our case, it took around 5-6 hrs because we were exploring the places nearby road. however, You can take NH16 and NH16B to reach there. Things to see In Digha:-

Digha Beach-

Digha beach is one of the most beautiful and unexplored beaches of India which has its own scenic view. Digha beach is a low gradient with shallow sand and extended up to 7 k.m. It has gentle rolling waves which will help you to flow calmly. This beach is also called weekend trip destination beaches for families, couples and friends.

New Digha Beach-

New Digha Beach is a man-made beach and it's about 2 kilometres away from old Digha Beach. This beach is mostly famous for its alluring sunrises and sunsets. During sunrises and sunsets, you can see the beauty of golden sun rays reflecting from water to your eyes. This beach is mostly preferred by the tourists who want easier accessibility and who can spend a little more money on less crowded beaches.

Marine Station/ Aquarium of Zoological Survey of India, Digha (MARC)

MARC is the major attraction for tourists who visit Digha because it has the largest inbuilt aquarium in India. Here, you can see sea species like anemones, lobsters, sharks, rays, sea snakes, butterflyfishes, horseshoe crabs and other species that are not commonly heard by people.

Best Time to Visit Digha:-

Oct -Feb is the peak season to visit Digha. At this time of the year, you can expect present and sunny weather and you can also enjoy Durga puja celebrations and water sports at this time.

In these COVID-19 days, every human must help the needy because this is only the way to fight with coronavirus. Udukku13 also joined hands with Cosmos to help the needy during these COVID-19 days at Kolkata(palta).

As everybody knows that Covid-19 has turned the livelihood of Lakhs of people into Chaos & Hunger. People like street vendors, Daily wagers, and migrant labourers have lost their one and only work during the lockdown.

These tuff days govt has introduced lots of ways to help the needy people but somehow due to the large scale of population, area and difficult medium of delivery it is very difficult for the govt. to reach every needy person but Indian Govt had put up their maximum efforts to reach such people and it is well appreciated.

In some cases where govt. supplies are not sufficient then lots of NGOs and voluntarily people are helping these people and Udukku13 also joined the hands voluntarily with Cosmos to feed the needy and helping them in any way because Udukku13 is a part of society and always standing in front to help the people in any situation because we are bikers and bikers never let down themself in any difficult situation whether it is tough mountains roads or situations like COVID-19 days.

These are lockdown days at Palta in Barrackpore cantonment area when Udukku13 bikers with Cosmos committee are giving supplies like Rice, Flour, Cooking Oil, Vegetables, and daily use items. There was relief kit also like every necessary item packed in a kit so everybody can get an equal amount of these things.which were supplied to the people who are disabled and not able to come to the relief points.

This was a little step by udukku13 to joins hands with Cosmos the relief society and helping the needy. You also can help in any way whether it is small or big don't think just help the needy and support India during these Covid-19 days.

Tajpur Beach (Midnapore)-2018 ; Trip from Kolkata to Tajpur on bikes

Tajpur Beach (Midnapore) is situated in the Purba Midnapore district of the West Bengal. This is one of the hidden beaches of India and one of the most beautiful and less crowded beaches which is becoming famous in recent times. Udukku13 Trip from Kolkata to Tajpur on bikes was a weekend trip. Let Udukku13 take you to the marvelous beach of Tajpur.

This Trip was commenced on 27 Mar 2018 and it was our unplanned tour to Tajpur Sea Beach. This was a weekend trip from Kolkata to Tajpur on bikes. This trip was full of fun and riding experience for Udukku13. The road was nice, clean and mostly the beach was so clean and far away from the crowd. On this trip total, Six bikers went who were Chyan, Swarup, Subrata, Anirban & Me (Argha) with 4 Bikes.

We throttled our bikes and started our trip at almost 1:45 pm on Friday. Tajpur was around 198 km from our Home Kolkata. We reached the hotel around 5:30 pm in the evening. After reaching the hotel we being welcomed with a cup of Herbal tea and a full plate of snacks. At 8 pm after taking some rest and freshen up bath, we all went to the Tajpur beach. It was so solitary beach of West Bengal after Bankiput beach.

On the beach, there are 8 or 10 hut type hotels where you can get all-day meals from breakfast to dinner with varieties of drinks by paying an extra 20 rupees above market price. Those huts are really so sweet to sit there and relaxing. You can lie on Hammock or chair and enjoy the beach, especially you can hear waves sound lonely beach with very few people enjoying on the beach.

There is one amazing thing about this beach is that if you are lucky enough and you are on the beach at the time of high tide, cold seawater will kiss your feet while you were lying on hammocks or enjoying beer and drinks on the chair. In our time it was stormy weather with full moon high tide. On the first evening, we got that high tide situation, we were in our pre-chosen hut and the water waves are under our feet. We stayed there till 10 pm and return to the hotel for dinner.

The next morning Saturday we went to a fabulous coastal ride to Sankarpur beach. It's around 16 km from our hotel. It was really a cool road to ride. After back from there at 11 am we went to the beach for long relaxation with others. In the evening we are in a storm at the beach it was so enjoyable.

On the next morning, we return from Tajpur. We started our ride at 8 a.m. after taking our breakfast from our hotel. we reached our home at 12 pm.

I can assure you if you visit Tajpur beach you will remember this trip whole life and one more thing like I have visited many beaches but Tajpur beach was India`s best beach for me if you visit this beach like me you will definitely not gonna like any other beach you will get deep inside the natural beauty of this beach.

Bichitrapur # Weekend Trip On Bikes From Kolkata -Udukku13

Bichitrapur is a weekend trip destination in Balasore district of Orissa and it is yet to be discovered a place which is full of mangrove forest and known for its muddy and large colored crabs. Our weekend trip on bikes from Kolkata is one of the best trips on the road.

On 13th July 2018, It was the Rath Yatra festival in India for 4 days. And we were looking these days as opportunities for our next biking trip and we throttled our bike for Bichitrapur. It is around 220 km from our Home(Kolkata). Bichitrapur is located in the Balasore district of Orissa and it is a mangrove reservoir forest. Here you can see Red Ghost Crab and Horse Shoe Crab and many kinds of sea creatures.

We started our bike for the trip at 11 am and reached Bichitrapur at 3 pm and the problem we faced that there is no hotel or any other place to stay so again we had to return back to the Udaipur beach area as there is a West Bengal govt lodge. It almost 25 km before Bichitrapur. and situated on West Bengal and Orissa Border. But in that lodge we also didn't get any room to stay because of the holiday season this lodge was already booked. So we had to get back to the new Digha which was also not far from Bichtrapur and we booked a hotel there. We booked a double-bedded room with INR 700/- per night.

We enter the room at 5 pm. And got freshen up. And we were hungry so we got out for some food as we didn't take any lunch or any eatables. We went to Digha beach for fish fries and all. We enjoyed our lunch there and enjoyed the Digha beach. New Digha Beach is also a nice place but it is much crowded as compare to Bichitrapur Beach.

On the next day, it was the 14th of July and we went to our main destination called Bichitrapur, a Mangrove forest heaven. Bichitrpaur place is also turned into sheltering ground for birds, olive ridley turtles, Red Ghost Crab, and Horse Shoe Crab. There are some small stalls beside the beach where you can take snacks, tea, and other refreshments.

Points to follow when Visit Bichitrapur

The best time to visit Bichitrapur is between Oct to March.
In the winter season, you may have a chance to see migratory birds here.
Try to bring some eatables with you all the time.
Try to book cottages or hotels nearby in advance.

Bakkhali # Bike Trip From Kolkata to Bakkhali - Udukku13

Our bike trip from Kolkata to Bakkhali was started on 7th September 2018 and it was Friday when we throttled our bike for our most awaited destination Bokkhali. It was early in the morning around 6 o`clock when we started from Kolkata and we had to cover almost 160 km to reach Bakkhali.

Driving Directions to Bakkhali from Kolkata by Road:-

This route usually has less traffic and 160 km distance is from my home particularly but if you google it from Kolkata it is around 137 km and usually, it takes 4-5 hrs to reach there by road but in our case, it took around 5-6 hrs because we were exploring the places nearby road. As usual, we did not pre-book our hotel because it's our experience, in every touring spot you will get room to stay. In this trip, we got a great room at Henry's Island which is totally West Bengal Govt fishery dept compound. There are 2 resorts which provide the best accommodation in its class.

Henrys Island:-

In the late 19th century Henrys surveyed the area that's why this island named after on his name. It is around 08km from Bakkhali and full of mangrove trees Jungle which can be accessed through the narrow bamboo bridge.

Bakkhali and Henry's Island is well communicated. Only allowed for those who stay at those govt lodges. Room rent is not so high it's Rs.1300/- per day for cottage room. We stayed at a cottage, it's was really so awesome place.

We stayed at Bakkhali for 2 days, the first day we went for a first visit to the Bokkhali beach for a while in the afternoon and then from there, we went to the beach at Henry's Island in the evening.

On the next day on 8th Sept Saturday, we went to Bakkhali early in the morning to see the world-famous Sun Rise. Then we took our Breakfast there and come back to our room. Then to Henry's Island Beach for Bath and we enjoyed lots over there. The main thrill is to cross a river that was the Hatania-Doania river by a vessel. It was so exciting for us. On the 9th of Sept, we started our bike to return home. We reached home at 3:30 pm and completed our bike trip from Kolkata to Bakkhali.

Bankiput - A Virgin Beach - Bike Trip From Kolkata to Bankiput

On 17 March it was a sunny Saturday and we(Argho and Anibaran) throttled our bike for a one-night weekend trip at Bankiput. Our bike trip from Kolkata to bankiput was started at 05:30 a.m. in the morning and bankiput is around 173km from Kolkata and it took around three and a half an hour to reach there. it was around 10:00 o'clock when we stopped our bike there.

Contai is easily accessible through trains and buses from Kolkata so you can also visit there by bus or train but Udukku 13 is a biker group so we visit there with our bikes but Reserved trains like Tamralipta, Duronto, Kandari, and Paharia express go there so you can take them to visit Bankiput. Our destination was Bankiput. Tamralipta Express is one of the best and cheapest trains so you can prefer it among others.

There is one and the only Hotel near the beach called Hotel Jhinuk. This was a basic Hotel but maintained very well and mostly the hospitality was so good. Jhinuk is the 02 storied building with 06 Double bedded ac and non-ac rooms and one 01 four-bedded room with ac/non-ac facility(optional). We were more excited to go to the beach so we just changed and ran to the beach.

Actually, Bankiput Beach is the place where Hoogly river meets with the Bay of Bengal or you can say it's the point where the Bay of Bengal starts. so in the day time, there is very less water on the beach and Bankiput is a village of fisheries family. We have seen a lot of fisherman Boats. Bankiput beach is a long beach with a jungle of mangrove trees that you can see in the pictures. Mainly the beach water is regulated by tidewater. when it is low-tide water is low away from the beach but when it's hightide water is just beside the hotel.

We enjoyed a lot there the whole day and at night we had a great dinner at a hotel and feel the strong tides at the night beside the hotel and the next day early in the morning we got back to our places at Kolkata.

Points to Remember while Visit to Bankiput Beach:-

Go there after confirming the time of high tide otherwise, there is no use to go there because except high tide water level is very low at other times.
The place is so calm and full of natural beauty so nature lovers will enjoy there more.
There are some other places you can visit and it is KapalKundla temple and Dariyapur Lighthouse etc.
Try to grab all the arrangements like snacks, drinks, and other things from Contai because its only the nearest market there.

This bike trip from Kolkata to Nathan Valley was started on 18th October the same day when the Durga Puja festival started. Durga Puja Festival is a very religious festival for Hindus and it came just before Diwali so Udukku13 had thought that we will enjoy our festival on the road during a visit to Nathang Valley, actually, it was a tribute to Maa Durga that we have done something special on these days of Puja. Nathang Valley is almost 14000 ft above from sea level. To complete this bike trip from Kolkata to Nathang Valley, it took around six days. Nathang valley is around 730km from my hometown Palta in Kolkata and in six days of Journey, we rode our bike around 1500km.

Day wise experience of our trip to Nathang Valley:-

Day 1st of Bike trip (Kolkata-Siliguri)

This was our first day of journey and our motto is to reach Siliguri in one day and Siliguri is around 550 km from Kolkata. We reach there around 07:00 p.m. in the evening we halted there at night in the Hotel. Bikers, let me clear you here that Kolkata-Siliguri road conditions are not so good this is NH-12 and it is flooded with trucks so you need so much care while driving through this road and it will automatically reduce your speed so always beware on the road.

Day 2nd of Bike trip (Siliguri-Gangtok)

On the 2nd day 19th October, we throttled our bike around 6:30 am. It was so foggy morning and we have to ride 120 km. Today our destination was Siliguri to Gangtok and we have already booked a hotel called Zimkang Hotel at Gangtok. We reached the hotel around 3 pm. We stayed there and in the evening time we had seen local places there like MG Mall and Lal Market which is so much famous place of Gangtok and these places were at 10 minutes walkable distance from our hotel.

Day 3rd & 4th of Bike trip (Gangtok- Nathang Valley)

The most important thing to go to Nathang is to get permission from the Sikkim tourism office, Because the valley is totally on the Indo- China border and it is on the old silk route. From Gangtok, we have crossed the 7-mile pass which is the first army post and here our permission checked for the first time.

This post closes daily at 9 a.m. so everybody who obtains permission from the Sikkim tourism office has to reach before 9 a.m. at this post. Once you have crossed the 07 miles post, army area starts and videography and photography are totally prohibited in this area But on the way, there are some nice sightseeing places like Tsongmo Lake, New Baba Mandir, Old Baba Mandir, Elephant Lake, Nathula Pass, etc. Bikers you know what it is around 70km from Gangtok but this road experience is one of the unforgettable experience you can really relish the fun of bike riding here roads are curvey and moving in upward and downward directions and full of ups and down lastly roads were all the time covered with fog and clouds it was like we were flying in the skies.

Nathang Valley by Udukku13

Finally, we reached the destination, our motto of this journey 😆Nathang valley. The time was around 3:30 pm and the weather was so chilled and so foggy which was quite normal for high altitude areas like Nathan Valley but this is new for us and we were shivering and we were also facing breathing problems because of the low level of oxygen. As there are no hotels in the valley so we booked a homestay there Our homestay was so awesome, cozy and had a nice view. Luckily the family who owned the homestay was the family of the head of the village. We stayed there for 1 da and it was so fabulous to stay there and the amazing thing was from there we saw the controversial Doklam border and the valley is totally surrounded by the Indian Army.

Day 5th & 6th of Bike trip (Nathang Valley - Kolkata)

After enjoying the day of 21st October we had to get back to our homes but our mind and souls want to stay because this place is full of scenic beauty and calmness and fresh breeze but nothing in our hands we really had to get back so we said bye to Nathang valley and started our bikes to back home. We followed the old silk route and in between, we have seen Zulluk and Kuppup, Padamchen & Srekhola which are great sightseeing places. On that day we rode 360 km and reached Islampur at 7 pm and stayed at a beautiful hotel for the night. On the next morning, 22nd October at 5 am we started our journey back home and it was around 500 km and reached home at 7:30 pm in the evening.Udukku13 proudly completed our journey to and from the hight of 14,000 ft(Nathang Valley).

Important points while having a bike trip to Nathang Valley.

Best Time to Visit Nathang Valley: April to May and Oct to December(Starting like 01-10 December)

Mobile Networks: Mobile connectivity is not much appreciated so it is advised to carry offline maps and must know the signals and signs on the roads. If you have BSNL sim cards it will be so much beneficiary because it works on this route.

Medicines: There must be one first aid kit with you and in addition, you must carry some medicines like paracetamol for fever, Diamox for high altitude sickness(consult with your doctor first).

Fuel: it is very necessary to check your fuel from time to time and refuel it again and again while you feel that only 90km petrol left in your bike tank and must ask for next petrol pump from the person where you refuel it because there is sometimes it's so much hard to find a petrol pump on the route.

Bike Repairing: it is very difficult to get a guy for bike repairing on that route so it is advised to keep basic tools for bike repairing like air pump, brake shoes and etc which is quite normal to change in emergency conditions.

Permits: Permits are required at many places after Gangtok (and it will cost you around Rs.1000/-. If you need permit assistance then contact us on our contact us page.

Documents to be Carried On Tour: First of all your aadhar card will not have much use so you must carry your Voter ID or passport, bike registration, bike pollution check, valid insurance and your license to ride bikes.

Our Experience of a journey to Lpechajagat from Kolkata

Bike Trip From Kolkata To Lepchajagat is our first long tour on bikes and it is our most unplanned trip. One fine morning we started the journey without knowing the destination. We don't have any experience to do a long trip and what should we carry to make our trip smooth. We also didn't know how to surf on a map and get locations and roads on the map. After all, we throttled the bike form our home in Kolkata.

On the first day at about 2 pm we reached Berhampur and stayed for the night. The next day, after so many hurdles during the road ride like bumpy and muddy roads poor map locations due to slow internet and lack of signboards on the road, we reached Dulkhola. Stayed for the night and next day we touched the destination, it was Lepchajagat, not Darjeeling, it is actually 14km far from Darjeeling. Actually, we have decided to go to Darjeeling but while we reached Ghoome, we saw two roads. One road is for Darjeeling and another for Lepchajagat. We booked a homestay at Lepchajagat in Ghoome and started the bike for Devi Lama's homestay, Lepchajagat.

What a beautiful and peaceful place it was. Kanchanjanga range was in front of us. Next day we go to Darjeeling and back in the evening. After the day of our plan, we want to leave Lepcha, but we didn't, because that day was Dussehra a festival before Diwali. People of Darjeeling and surroundings were celebrating the occasion and we don't want to miss that. That night rain started again a depressive problem for our trip. The next morning, we started our journey to return home and the rain was upon us. We visited Mirik lake on the way to return Siliguri. The entire road and scenic beauty were fabulous. A bridge on our way was colloped due to a flash flood that joins the road to Siliguri. After all the hurdles we reach New Jalpaiguri and stayed at a hotel for the night. And on the next early morning, we took the way home again. We took another way to avoid Dalkhola road we faced at the going time. that day we reached Baharampur and the next day reached home safely.

Sightseeing in Lepchajagat 2020

Lepchajagat is a name which is a combination of Lepcha and Jagat Here Lpecha denotes tribes live there and Jagat means the world, so this place is also called the world of Lepchas.

In short, Lepchajagat is all about the dense forest full of pines and oak trees. you can have a view of Darjeeling town and most beautiful Kanchenjunga mountain.

Hawa Ghar

At a distance of 01km, there is a natural place called Hawa mahal from where you can see all the five peaks of the Kanchenjunga massif. there is a pathway you can go to this place from lepchajagat.

Ghum Rock

At an altitude 7900ft and about 1.5 km from Lepchajagat, there is a place called Ghum Rock. There is a huge rock on which this name exists and this place if famous for sunrise and you can have the nicest view of balsan valley.

Jorpokhri

This place is about 05kms from Lpechajagat and it is famous for its pond and for a rare Himalayan salamander.

Pashupati Market

This market is located on the Indo- Nepal border at a distance of 15kms from the Lepchajagat(Darjeeling) and this place is famous for foreign goods at the cheapest rates. you need a valid ID proof to visit here.

Mirik

Mirik is famous for its lake which is fringed by forests on one side of the lake. this place is about 27kms from lepchajagat and is on the same route as the Pashupati market falls.

In the end, I want to say that Darjeeling is a well-known place as a tourist spot but once you must also visit lepchajagat and have nature's magic in this place. Our experience of this bike trip to Rajgir:-

One fine morning in the chilled weather of December, a team of four guys of Udukku13 starts the bike towards Rajgir. We four Anirban (me), Argha (My pillion), Hiron (on another bike), Rajesh (Hiron's pillion). There were two bikes one is Classic 350 and the other was CBR250. Early in the morning, we started our journey from Kolkata. We rode bikes through NH 12. To reach Rajgir, there are two interstate borders. One is between West Bengal and Jharkhand and the other is between Jharkhand and Bihar. We cross three legendary places on the way, first is Giridi where prof Sanku's home, second is Kobra Hillis where the Indian army training camp is situated and third is Jhumritalia. When we were crossing Jhumratalia, the night was on upon us and the entire road was totally empty. No men, no house and nor a sign of life, We were scared that if our bike broke down or anything else what we gonna do, anyhow Udukku13 reached the destination, Rajgir, at 8:30 pm the next day after all hurdles. On the next day we visited Nalanda University for a holiday and in the evening we back to the hotel. On the third day, we decided to gather experience with a "Tanga" and visited some nearby places and we did it. Another experience in Shanti Stupa by rope-way.

The fourth day we start the journey to Maithon through Buddha Gaya. This was a great experience and inner peace at Lord Buddha Temple(I will discuss these places in detail below) and these places are top places to visit in Rajgir, India, and then we reached Maithon in the evening. We stay at Maithon for that night and the next day we got back to our home at Kolkata.

Kolkata to Rajgir Distance, Duration, driving directions and Rajgir on Google Maps

The road distance from Kolkata to Rajgir is 498 km. And you can visit there by govt transport like bus it will take around 10-12 hrs. Udukku13 was having the fun of bike riding and visiting places in between the place so it took more time to reach there. But on the bike, if you drive to continue it will take around 8-9 hrs to reach Rajgir. As I have discussed earlier that we have crossed two interstate borders of Jharkhand and Bihar via NH12. Nalanda University:-

Nalanda University is located in the historical place Rajgir in Bihar. this is a university for research-intensive, Master's Degree and international university supported by East Asia summit countries. The act of parliament established it in support of the ancient university of Nalanda. Ancient university was founded in the 5th century and functioned till the 13th century. Nowadays this university offers various programs about Buddhist, ecology, environment and historical studies.

Viswa Shanti Stupa(World Peace Pagoda):-

Dimna Lake is situated in Jamshedpur and it was constructed by TATA Steel. It is near to the Dalma wildlife sanctuary and has a nice view. Udukku13 had our road trip to Dimna Lake from Kolkata on our bikes.

Our Experience of biking During This Road Trip to Dimna Lake From Kolkata-

It was another December in 2018. A total of six people started the bike to go to Dimna Lake, Jamshedpur. Five partners Argha, Sajib, Hiron, Samiron & Sangita, start their journey with four bikes from Palta and me, Anirban (Me), meets with them at Bally Halt as they were waiting for me. In the Morning finally, we started the journey from Bally. Last night I was on the train. So next morning I was very tired but I took the bike handle stately and start the ride. This trip was very planned and nice. After we take a break in Kolaghat for breakfast. We did not take heavy lunch on that entire journey. We take only nuts, cakes, biscuits, tea, etc, like lunch, because of unwanted physical lethargy. There are three routes to reach Jamshedpur. one road condition was very bad due to roadwork, another one was likely the same condition and the third one was good but due to some misconception, we take the second road and fall into problems. The weather was so good and very comfortable to ride. After all, we reached Dimna at 5:30 pm. there was so cold to ride in the threshold of the evening in Jamshedpur. Our hotel or resort was not booked. Therefore, the first job to do in Dimna found a hotel that has a safe parking for our bikes. After checked in the hotel, our first job was to order a heavy dinner, because we were starving.

The next job was fresh ourselves and then ready a next day plan. The next day we go to Dalmadal Range, Dimna Lake, Jubilee park, etc. for sightseeing. that day we spend very nice. Dalmadal Range was a very beautiful place, there are jungle, elephant, Hills and good natural beauty.

And after there we went to Dimna lake. We back to the hotel at 8 pm. On this trip, we did not visit many places because of time. The next morning about 6:30 am we start our journey back home. This time we choose wisely the third road. that road was so good in condition. we completed our trip successfully.

Dimna Lake Distance, Driving Directions By Road

As I told you in my journey experience that there are a total of three ways to go to Dimna Lake two of them were not good but the third one was neat and clean so choose wisely. I have embedded a map of all the three ways in google Maps you can scroll and have a complete look of the roads. Dimna Lake Distance is around 293kms from Kolkata as you can see on the map. And you can also find driving directions here on the map. You can opt route via NH16 and NH 18 and this has tolls also.

Tourists attractions in Jamshedpur near Dimna Lake

Dimna Lake- Dimna Lake is situated in Jamshedpur and it was constructed by TATA Steel in Boram Block. It is near to the Dalma wildlife sanctuary and has a nice view. This lake also have boating facilities. This lake have rush during the months Nov to Feb but you can visit any time there is no restrictions to visit Dimna lake. It is just 15 km from Jamshedpur and public transport is also available instead of private transport.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary- This sanctuary is situated in Jamshedpur in the area of 195 sq km and it was established in 1975. This sanctuary is rich in sry peninsular sal forests and northern dry mixed deciduous forests. Instead of giant elephants, this sanctuary is also a home for leopard, barking deer, moose, deer, giant squirrel, and a sloth bear. Timings for this sanctuary starts from 07:00 am to 05:00 pm whole year. Entry fees are very nominal to this sanctuary.

Jubilee park- This park is one of the best outdoor picnic spot for outdoor picnic lovers and it is situated in the city of Jamshedpur. This is the best place for outdoor activities in relation to the picnic. This park was developed and owned by TATA Steel Ltd. This park was opened in Aug 1958.

This was our second last and last day of our Trip to Vizag on Bikes while we were returning from the Vizag. We were halted at Bhubaneswar for one night. This place is so good to stay there are a lot of Things To See In Bhubaneswar. Bheemili beach is a very nice beach in Bhubaneswar.

Kolkata to Puri Bike Trip was a fabulous trip for us. This was our second big trip. There are a lot of things to see in Puri Odisha. During this bike trip to puri, we have seen a lot of things like Jagannath temple, chilika lake puri beach and many more. Let's start the journey.

Kolkata to Puri Bike Trip, Things to see in Puri Odisha

Kolkata to Puri Bike Trip was a memorable trip for all of us. This was the second big trip of our initial bike riding days as Udukku13. Before that, we don’t know that we can ride 520KM at a time. We start the trip on 27/09/17 at 6 AM. Our plan was to start at 4:30 to 5 AM, but the weather was against us. Heavy rain started at 4 AM. We were waiting for the rain to stop. At 5:50 AM rain had mercy on us and it slowed a little bit and we started the bike in that cloudy and little rainy weather. We completed the whole trip like this.

At the time of starting, we do not confident to hit Puri on the same day. But we did it, just because of our coordination and support, which is necessary for a successful bike trip. After starting we refreshed and had breakfast at the junction of WB and Odisha about 9:30 to 10 AM. After we again start the journey for Puri. This bike riding was not so good, because we were tired a lot, and felt sleepiness at the time of riding. We rode in this condition till Balasore and then we stopped the bike and took little rest, with some sweet syrup called tea, for half an hour. This half an hour refreshed our souls and again we were ready to feel the fun of speed riding. At 06:30 P.M. we were at the puri beach where the sunset was kissing the sands of the beach.

During this Kolkata to Puri Bike Trip, I have learned one thing that doesn't eat heavy food because it will cause you laziness while riding a bike. This whole trip was full of memories because we have ride bikes in rainy weather and seeing a religious place puri is like dreams come true.

There are lot of things to see in puri, Odisha. this place is heaven for the religious people as well as for people who wants to see the scenic natural beauty. There are a lot of places around puri city but I will tell you the places which I explored during my Kolkata to puri bike trip.

Puri Beach: This beach is the best coastline of the Bay of Bengal with the sun shines on the crystal clear water of the beach. This is around 35 km away from the sun temple. This place is ideal for the people who want to spend their holiday around the coastal waters.

Sri Jagannath Puri Temple: This temple is one of the most religious monuments of Odisha. This temple was built by Ananta Varman Chodaganga Deva of the Ganga dynasty. This place is the home for Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Balabhadra. this is the main pilgrimage site for the Hindus and is also a part of CHAR DHAM yatra.

Chilika Lake: This lake is one of the biggest saltwater lake among the lakes. This is around 50km away from the puri. this lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Odisha. This lake and landscape around is full of lush greenery.this also has an island full of Trees.

Raghurajpur artistic Village: This village is near puri and famous for its heritage crafts. This village is famous for its pattachitra paintings as well as palm trees engravings, stone and wood carvings, and gotipua folk dance.

About our Araku Valley Journey in Vizag: This journey was started from Bimble to Araku Valley in Vizag, A.P. It was a Trip to Borra Caves in Araku Valley. This day trip was our 04 day of Trip to Vizag on Bikes. It was recorded on 05th Oct 19.Day was pretty awesome and everything was good except road . Road conditions was not much good it was muddy and not properly maintained.Our bikes and we were having little trouble on the road but it was adventurous.

Things To See In Araku Valley:

There are lot of things to see in araku valley. this place is full of natural beauty and heaven for waterfalls and nature camps.there are lot of tourist places to see in Araku valley but here are 12 must visit places to see in Araku valley.

Borra Caves These are longest and deepest cvnev in India.These are predominantly limestone caves and these are extended to 80 meters deep.tourist can walk up to 0.35 kms. in these caves.

Padmapuram Gardens This is 2.5 kms. from Araku valley bus stand. It is botanical garden in this valley and best sightseeing place. it was build in 1942 on 26 acre land for vegetables supply to soldiers of world war II.Now it is Horticulture nursery cum training center for developing various species of plants.

Tadimada Waterfalls These falls also called Anantagiri waterfalls. This is also a must visit place of Araku valley.At the height of about 100 feet, Anantagiri waterfalls make you stun due to its natural beauty. its about 1-2 kms above from main road, you can go there by trekking . you can also go there by car but its so bumpy and narrow so its advisable to go by foot.

About our Journey: This journey was started from Barrackpore, Kolkata to Vizag, A.P. It was a Trip to Vizag on Bikes. The distance was around 906 Km.And this trip was completed in Six days and today i am sharing my experience of 05 Day of Trip to Vizag on Bikes. Kailasagiri

Kailasagiri This is the hilltop park in the Vizag and it is developed by VMRDA. It comprises with 380 acres of land fully covered with flora and fauna. From here you can see hill view of whole vizag with sea shore.

submarine museum

Submarine Museum This museum was made on INS karsura(S-20). This submarine museum was one of the very few which have originality in it. It is must visit destination at Vizag.

Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary It is a sanctuary near Vizag. Is named after a local hill Kambalakonda, it is a dry evergreen forest mixed with scrub and meadows. It`s a best place for hiking and trekking. Various animals of rare species also found here and Night safari is also available here. EntryFees here is Rs.10 for adults and Rs. 05 for kids.
