This week we’re talking about the St. Louis Blues Winter Classic sweater with friend of the show and life long Blues fan Tyler Burch. The Blues played the Blackhawks for this year’s iteration of the NHL’s premier outdoor game wearing a modern version of the original 1967 sweater.

We talk about how this fits into the pantheon of Blues jerseys, how the Blues fit into the St. Louis sports scene now that the Rams have returned home to LA (RIP the Greatest Show on Turf), and watching games at Busch Stadium. Joe wants to talk about Winter Classic patches and Kelsey still can’t see the difference between the various Blue Notes. And Tyler totally talks. We swear.

To celebrate the Winter Holidays, Kelsey and Joe sit down to discuss the state of youth hockey in America. By discussing America’s Team: The District 5 Mighty Ducks. They realize there’s a lot of Minnesota iconography hidden therein.

We should note: they’re not talking about the old NHL Ducks jersey. Or even the original Mighty Ducks alternate jersey. It’s the one from the movie. Yeah, that one. The green one.

They also discuss their own experience with winter sports as children, with Kelsey’s experience mirroring that of Ducks great Charlie Conway, and Joe’s having the same starting point as Comets great Thatcher Demko.

We’re gathered here today to discuss an oddball in the history of the second-most spangly NHL franchise (second of course to the New York Americans), the Washington Capitals. Joining Kelsey and Joe in their foray into our Nation’s Capital is friend of the show Dan Matthews, who shares not only his love of this jersey, but also the boundless enthusiasm known only by a Capitals fan. Interestingly, Alex Ovechkin, All-Star Captain of the Washington Capitals, was drafted in this jersey.

This time we’re talking throwbacks, the WHA, and hockey in Winnipeg with our discussion of the Jet’s Heritage Classic jersey from their October 2016 game against Edmonton. We get into some hockey history discussing this carbon copy of the jersey the Jet’s wore when the won the Avco Cup. Maybe someday it’ll win a Stanley Cup too.
