Our beginning of school learn-to-rows are now set and you can sign up at by clicking here. Have friends who may be interested? Forward along this email!

We will be offering three different days - August 25th and 26th, and September 8th. You only need to attend one session, the goal being to get a small taste of what rowing is about. Rowing was brand new to every one of our current athletes when they started in high school and the learn-to-row offers an easy way to discover the joys of this amazing and unique sport.

While your on the website, you can check out the "New to Rowing" section in the menu for lots of information about the program. Also check out the the Novice Fall Info section for information on how to save your seat for the fall and to learn about our fall membership dues.

Also, make sure to save the date - Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00 pm.We will have a Novice Parent and Athlete meeting in the Main LGI at school to go over the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Keep in mind that the spring is our main season, the fall is meant as an introduction to the sport, a teaching season to get everyone started on the right foot.

UHS Crew Novice Boys took Silver last weekend at the USRowing Mid Atlantic Championship Regatta at Mercer Lake, NJ. These 8 boys plus a coxswain (cox-in) have had a fantastic season, medaling twice as freshman and sophomores new to the sport. Only 6 seconds off second place to one of the toughest schools is something to be proud of. They will row again tomorrow with the Novice girls at Stotesbury, the world's largest high school rowing competition. Go U Crew!!

The 9th grade baseball team tied Haverford High School 4-4 in 6 innings (ended due to weather). The team finishes 9-1-1 on the season. Scott Hansen pitched 5 innings and struck out 7 batters. Hansen was 3-4 at the plate with two doubles and 3 RBI.

The track and field program competed on Friday at the Novice Championships at Kennett High School. The boys team was led by Toby Gregory's win in the high jump and are looking forward to a big contribution from Toby next year. The girls team was led by a 2nd place finish in the 4x400 meter relay to wrap up the meet and their season. Thanks to everyone who competed!

This Friday the varsity team moves on to the District Championship meet at Coatesville.

The Varsity baseball team won 13-5 over Sun Valley on Senior Recognition Day. Nick Samulewicz went 2-3 with a grand slam and a 2 run HR for a 6 RBI day. Nick also picked up the win on the mound with 6 strong innings. Joe Zubillaga also hit a HR and Theron Schilling went 3-4. Our next game is Monday at Avon Grove.

The 9th grade baseball team finished their season with a 13-3 win over Coatesville in 5 innings. Nik Toocheck got the win on the mound after pitching 4 innings, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 4 batters. Jack Regenye, JJ Williams, Scott Hansen, and Nik Toocheck all collected multiple hits. They finish the season with a 9-1 record. Great season!

Track and Field update

The track and field program competed at the League Championship meet at Coatesville last night. The boys team was led by Brett Wagner's school record in the 200 (he broke his own record) and his win in the 400 (the only win on the day for the program). Cole Walker also turned in an outstanding performance with a district qualifying time in the 1600.

The girls team was the runner-up to Coatesville and was paced by Makayla Bucci, Amy Margolin, Marcella Krautzel and Mia Prantil. Lynsey McCarhy turned in an outstanding performance with a district qualifying long jump.

The team competes in the novice championship tomorrow at Kennett and next Friday at the District I Championship meet.
