STUDENT VOLUNTEERS are needed to greet and guide visiting students and judges to designated classrooms throughout the building. Volunteer service hours, including for the National Honor Society, will be earned for helping with this tournament. The 2013 Pink Invitational needs volunteers and this is a great, unique way to fulfill UHS service hours.

All proceeds benefit Unite for HER!

February 22-24 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

We are especially in need of volunteers on Sunday, February 24^th, but can use volunteers on Friday and Saturday as well.

Nastia Liukin (Olympic gold medalist) will be in the house all day Saturday!

ITS TIME TO VOLUNTEER FOR THE USED BOOK SALE!! FULFILL YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS.

MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO SORT and PROCESS BOOKS:

Sorting hours are after school Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday as well as some Saturdays leading up to the actual Book Sale days on February 22 & 23. This is a great way to fulfill community service hours by supporting the largest fundraiser for UHS.

Sign up sheets are posted in the main office or look for sign up sheets during lunch hours by the cafeteria LGI. Be sure to sign up in advance to guarantee that you get the hours!!

UHS Students Donate to Tom's River East High School, a Community Hard Hit by Hurricane Sandy

On 1/21/13, as a part of our Martin Luther King Day of Service, I drove to Tom's River East High School near Seaside Heights, NJ (a community that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy) to deliver numerous small appliances, pillows, towels, blankets, cleaning supplies, etc. In addition to these items, we also handed the Principal of Tom's River East (3rd from the left in the picture) gift cards in the amount of $2,925 - this money was raised by various UHS clubs.

I want you to know how much your generosity was appreciated by this hard-hit school community. The principal told me that she still has 143 high school families that were displaced by the storm, many of whom are still living in hotel rooms. Several of her students were able to move in with relatives but are driving 30-40 miles one way to attend school.

Thanks so much for the role that you played in supporting all of our MLK Day of Service events, and especially for your generous support of a NJ high school in need. We appreciate all that you did to help out this struggling community!
