Miss Oroblu, as the name they picked for themselves suggests, are a brand for the next generation.

Dawn went to see their latest release at the incredible CSP International headquarters in Milan. The word she brought back was encouraging. The brains at Miss Oroblu have decided to pull the rug from under themselves and start anew. The models are younger, not Miss Italia from two seasons ago, but a fresh eighteen-or-so face. Picking your model is a statement all in itself, and this choice stands out most in their new photography.

The designs follow on perfectly. Each one is picked to compliment and carry the flag of pop culture. One particular wing of 20th to 21st Century style, Pop Art, is still becoming more recognised and loved, and Miss Oroblu have decided to join in with Young Fashion Tights. The design is bright, bubblegum pink, free from distractions, so that your eyes catch the feature fully.

A freeze frame, in negative colours with flecks of neon paint, of a young lady, exactly the kind of young lady that Miss Oroblu are designed for. The image in quite close to some world famous ones you’ve probably seen. The famous photo of Che Guevara, rendered in sharp colours, is one of the world’s most recognisable pictures. These fashion tights take a lot of inspiration from imagery like that.

Miss Oroblu know that the realm of graphic art is a dynamic and creative one, so they’ve designed these fashion tights around the culture of Generation Y.

But Miss Oroblu aren’t designing their fashion tights for an age group, only a cultural one. Art like this will be the centre of our world very soon, and it’s fashion houses’ jobs to inject life and taste into them. Miss Oroblu’s fashion tights aren’t designed for anyone. They’re designed for the future!

I must apologise, without reserve, for an action that deserves countless shakes of the head, tuts, tisks and general outright mockery.

In my last post, I reviewed the Oroblu Maryna Fashion Tights. I was speaking on the subject of Oroblu’s incredible empathy with their customers. The designers made their fashion tights in a way that gave you versatility and style suited for a surprising range of situations.

Only thing is, they aren’t fashion tights.

While you’re possibly sick of seeing the name “Oroblu” after so many praise-filled posts over the past week or so, the Milanese designers are proving undeniable in the fashion tights sphere.

Their latest release, Maryna, is incredible. Oroblu have gone further than any designer I’ve seen in the attempt to add something different and unseen to their work.

Oroblu Maryna Fashion Tights has a column of tiny metal clasps running up the seam. Yes, these are made of real metal, not plastic or any other kind of imitation. Oroblu never imitate.

I had a hard time finding out how they managed to include this feature in a pair of delicately sheer fashion tights. The secret is in the seams. The two thick black bands running up the seam are made of a much more robust material than the rest of the leg.

Oroblu know that good design considers the user first, and that this is no different with fashion tights. Maryna is designed to be hard-wearing, but not rough. It is strong and elegant. Like a diamond, I suppose.

I’m going to suggest Maryna Fashion Tights for more formal events, like black tie. But, considering they are new and innovative, they aren’t restricted in anyway to tradition. This beautiful leg wear design is ideal for dinner dates and cocktail parties too, but I know good design as well, so I’m leaving the events up to you, the user, the wearer, the stylish.

Oroblu have, yet again, left me reeling, speechless and dumbfounded.

Over the last few posts, I’ve reviewed some absolute gems that they’ve released this season, but today we got a whole bunch of new designs and, quite frankly, they leave the fashion tights standard in a cloud of dust.

I think it’d best to just see what I’m talking about.

Google did a study a while back that asked the question “is a picture really worth a thousand words?”. Their answer, heck knows how they reached this conclusion, was “no” it’s, more often than not, worth an incredible amount more.

I have to agree.

Oroblu’s work has gone from strength to strength these last few seasons. Far from splitting their resources, the release of a sister brand, Miss Oroblu, has re-energized them. Their work is better when they’re part of the rat-race. With such a good turn out of fashion tights, and of everything else clothing related, over the past months, Oroblu seemed to be relishing the chase.

Scarlet is exactly what a fashion tights design house like Oroblu needs to accomplish its mission. The mission, to strip away the unwanted parts of the brand and release work that talks to the cutting edge of the fashion populace. To aim for only the most discerning customer, without chasing after trends.

It’ll be more designs like Scarlet that will get them there, and it’ll be much sooner than you might guess is their next season is as new and different as this one has been.

Today’s post is another in my series of fantastic navy tights. This morning, I spotted a particularly intriguing item that I’ve never given editorial space to, something that combines two of our most loved and intensely popular kinds of items together. Something unique.

Pierre Mantoux Connie, the only design that blends lace fabric and navy tights.

This might not seem a huge thing at first. In fact, I wrote this off as just an odd oversight when I first spotted it, but it’s more than just that. Navy tights and lace tights are two of the most asked for kinds of items we’ve ever sold. So many manufacturers concentrate on regular woven or knitted kinds of leg wear, that lace, a classic and timeless pattern, always seems to take a back seat in fashion collections.

As for navy, back in the early days Dawn and Jonathan, rather embarrassingly, lumped this colour in with other blues. “Navy is blue, like magenta is pink”. Well, technically yes, but some of fashion’s greatest and most recognisable have taken this shade and made it a staple of their work. It has the dark, brooding and sophisticated potential that only black can match, but it’s less stark. Navy is rich and it brings to mind sapphires and deep oceans. It’s the colour of beauty, performed with precision.

So Pierre Mantoux have actually gone ahead and achieved what so many fashion houses have neglected to do. They’ve married these two core designs and given them a new life this season. Connie is the finished piece. It’s an exceptionally good quality item, like most everything from Pierre Mantoux, and it’s been one of our most praised fashion items this season.

Pierre Mantoux’s keen concentration on timeless style has done more than just make an item that people really wanted. It’s released a design with incredible quality that sets a new benchmark. Good lace tights will have to match this from now on, and quite frankly, I’d like to thank them for it!

Yesterday I wrote about Oroblu turning modern fashion trends into traditions, and how unique their work is. But I missed something important about Lilian. The colour.

I talked about the wonderful blue briefly, but with navy tights being as big as they have been recently, you’ll need to know about some of the other wonderful dark blues our designers have been working on recently.

One item I was particularly impressed with this season has been Oroblu Emerald. A misleading name, but that’s the only part of the design that’s less than flawless.

Their design team seems to be comprised entirely of people producing colossal amounts of brilliant work, delivered in a timely, precise and astounding fashion. I dare say they’ve cloned me.

Emerald is, as the discerning fashionista can tell from the above picture, isn’t green at all. The blue is almost identical to the shade chosen for Lilian, the last pair of navy tights I reviewed. The great thing about this darker shade is how well it shows Oroblu for the luxury brand it is. These designs are rich and subtle and they’re some of the best work Oroblu has turned out for evening wear.

The vertical stripes running down these navy tights are ruffles. I don’t know about you, but I never thought that ruffles like these were a modern fashion feature. I always saw these kinds of delicate bunches of material as something from the Classical age of style, something that Marie Antoinette might wear.

Oroblu, however, like to see those Classical tropes as an opportunity for something new, not an outdated fancy. It seems their philosophy is working well.

Oroblu are one those brands that just takes over all editorial space on our blog, dominates our Facebook page and crashes Twitter (not that they need me to do that), but stuff like this deserves the attention. Considering the popularity of items like these, I might start a series on the best navy tights for the season.

With a design this beautiful transforming your outfit, it’s safe to say that sometimes, emeralds are a girl’s best friend.

I’ve noticed a very interesting new trend emerging in leg wear at the moment. Designers are adding a magnificent array of extra knick-knacks to their work.

Some I’ve seen recently are a fantastic example of thinking outside the box. Buttons and pins, attached to the thick woolly fabric of a leg warmer or to the seams of sheers. I’m a fan, but today I’ve got an item for you that does this better that everything else I’ve seen so far.

Oroblu Lilian is an incredible item. The new trend of adding sundry items to the leg of your hosiery was, up until now, a much more obvious affair. Lots of larger attachments, like the aforementioned buttons. But Oroblu have made these fashion tights look effortless and they get the actual design out of the way. Their designers work hard, no doubt, but they never look like their work is complex. The beauty is in the subtlety and authenticity.

The subtlety comes from the minimal aesthetic, the authenticity comes from the features they’ve chosen. Oroblu have foregone plastic or imitation materials. These sparkling studs are rhinestone crystals. Some rhinestones are man-made, but Oroblu are using really precious stones, meaning the leg sparkles and shimmers with a lustre that faux-crystal can never achieve.

I can’t write about this design and not mention the colouring. The wonderfully rich, inky blue is a very clever choice. The rhinestones stand out so much more, with their almost white reflections contrasting against the dark and brooding background. And, of course, what better colour would there be besides the safe choice of black to show off such a wonderful pair of fashion tights with an evening dress.

Oroblu are going to bring these three dimensional add-ons to the main stage of leg wear with fashion tights like Lilian. While a new design trend is too obvious, it’ll just look like a novelty, a fad. But tasteful fashion tights keep the trend looking like a truly considered choice. If you want something beautiful, stylish and authentic to wear, something that people can tell, straight away, is the real deal, pick up a pair of Oroblu Lilian. They’re no imitation, copy-cat or throw-away design. They’re stunning and they’ll be the benchmark for your fashion tights.

Apologies to you, the rather agreeable reader, firstly. In my last post, I enthusiastically stated I would be writing about an item I really loved. Something that would go well with Burns Night outfits. Well, I still am writing about this, until I realised I already posted on the lovely here. Oh jolly good, I’m forgetting things already! I’d forget what day it was if I didn’t have (score!) a Dilbert desk calender next to my computer.

So I’m going to choose a different one today, and this one is rather nice too. In fact, what I’m reviewing is the much more traditional design, the Tartan tights that a lover of authenticity would go for. Jonathan Aston Tartan Tights, so called because they’re Tartan, naturally, but also because Jonathan Aston didn’t feel the need to design any variations. No Tartan tights X and Tartan tights Y, just the one design. Traditional, simple and beautiful.

This fantastic design come in the two most popular shades, red and green, and they are possibly the richest and most long-lasting colour scheme I’ve seen on something so heavily patterned. Jonathan Aston are affordable fashion quality. Part of concentrating on that is making sure you’re item doesn’t disappoint when it comes to longevity, and Jonathan Aston have never let us down there.

I think these Tartan tights are going to be one of the most popular items for the next couple of weeks. I’m always excited to hear about their next big thing and their patterns have always been a delight to recommend.

So, if you’re looking for a quality item you can wear proudly on Burns Night, as well as something you’ll be able to keep in your collection as a gentle Summer green or a rich Winter-friendly red, the Jonathan Aston Tartan Tights are spot on.
