I love this pattern it’s my second giraffe, the elephant in the background is my favorite. This is my third one , It comes out better and better every time, next time I will use those glass eyes from Etsy they really make it look real!

Hi Jonni!

Had to share what was done with your horse head pattern. Last year for the our granddaughters were in the play Cinderella. Two other Grammys and myself were asked to make the horses.

I made the head using your pattern. Loved it but too small. So we enlarged it and made 4 life size horses. They were a hit at the play!

This year as an VFW auxiliary member, a committee was formed to enter the National Buddy Poppy contest. We did a project about a little war horse from the Korean War named Reckless. We used the first horse head that was made for the play that was too small. We won the top prize in the VFW National Poppy Contest! Thank you for sharing your work. Georgie

My first attempt at paper Mache mask making. I used the wood glue paper Mache recipe and Liquitex Acrylic Medium Flexible Modeling Paste to create “ fur like texture” before painting the mask. I like the fact that the mask is strong yet flexible and comfortable to wear. I am ready for Trick or Treating with the grandkids as the “Big Bad Wolf”!

I used the frog mask pattern, though I did end up altering it for the proportions I needed. The pattern was still the best starting off point I could have and helped bring this to life so I wanted to share it here.

I made this outfit for my local renaissance faire. The head is paper mache (obvi), the tunic I drafted the pattern and made myself, the pants I added the triangle panel and patches to, made the arm warmers, and made the boot covers using some scrap worbla and a shirt I thrifted.

I’ve done the giraffe and moose for library fundraiser functions and have now done the rabbit and bear for my own home. Yes, I know he should be black, and when I make another one, I’ll use bigger plastic hemispheres for his eyes. But for a really fast project, I think he came out OK. And a little black spray paint would take care of that fur.

And there’s no paper mache in this mask at all – no wait for anything to dry except for the acrylic varnish I used to paste the tissue paper into the eyes to make them red. Except for vacuuming up all the moth fur that ends up on the floor, this is a fast project.

I received some excellent ideas for this year’s Halloween mask when I uploaded my last video to YouTube. I chose the Mothman because I thought it would be the fastest one to make, once I had all the materials. But I wasn’t expecting it to be so hard to find a small amount of black fake fur – the only fur available locally was a yard of grey fur from Walmart. It’s pretty, and it’s the color of most of the real moths around here. But the Mothman is usually black.

Next time, I’ll start shopping sooner, and it will come out better.

If you have time to order the plastic things for eyes, you can find the ones I got here.
The ones I got were slightly larger than 3″. For bigger, more impressive eyes, search for larger “Clear Plastic Fillable Ornament Balls.”
