Ultimate Nationals Championships 2011

Come and join us for this fabulous event hosted at Pirates Sports Club (Greenside) over the weekend of the 30th April, 1st and 2nd May 2011.

16 teams from Southern Africa (Limpopo, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KZN, Gauteng and Mozambique).

Come watch the best ultimate teams from Southern Africa fighting it out for the Nationals title!

Pirates - our new home!

The club can evolve from here!

Games are now on at Pirates - 6.30 for 7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

There is still some sharing of fields but nowhere near the kind of pressure we were getting from soccer kids at SSC.

Junior Hockey is coming off the field at 7 on Wednesdays I believe. Introduce yourselves and be nice.

There has been a suggestion to make the Monday evening the team league game and social on Wednesday.

Let’s do both on Mondays and Wednesdays (at least until Nationals) - together but separate. There seems to be ample lit space to lay out two fields.

Hi Ultitude

Games this week are at 5:30pm again, because the field lights are being fixed.

Please therefore meet us at the “Beach” at 5:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday (rain or shine) and if we are not at the beach check down on the field as we might have moved there during the course of the evening.

Please subscribe to our mailing list to get the weekly games, and next week could be back to 7pm games so keep an eye out on the comms.

To take advantage of the light, games this week Tuesday 11Jan and Thursday 13Jan are at 5:30pm at “The Beach”, Sandton Sports Club.

Social league - Beach & Field pickup. 5.30 PM. NB NB thats 5.30 @ Sandton Sports club
Early call due to popular demand. No problem with being late for those who work longer- The following week will be back to the normal 7 PM.

First (South) African Ladies Tournament held in Johannesburg

This year’s Roctober tournament was proud to host the first ever ladies tournament:

First (South) African Ladies Tourney results

Three teams battled it out in the first ever South African (or indeed Africa?) 5-a-side Ladies Tourney. Victorious Secret from Cape Town, Moswazi Queens from Swaziland/Mozambique, Lunachics and Friends (Johannesburg with help from KZN) battled it out after full games of mixed Ultimate on Saturday evening and Sunday midday. A round-robin format enabled all three teams to play against each other - with a draw resulting!

Round 1: Victorious Secret beat Lunachics 7-2
Round 2: Lunachics beat MoSwazi Queens 6-3
Round 3: Moswazi Queens beat Victorious Secret 6-5 in a nail-biting hard cap finish

When points were added up, Victorious Secret took home first prize with Moswazi Queens in 2nd place. Lunachics received the Best Spirit/Dance/Song prize for their rendition of Waka Waka in rainbow tutus and hectic wigs.

Roctober 2010 will be taking place over the weekend of the 9th/10th October. Teams to confirm their entry by the 24th September 2010.

Yes, that was as you read it: 5 games, four on the trot, one in the evening, when we should’ve been partying.

Twelve teams playing, hearts a pounding. It was tough tough tough. Ultitide played impressively, with great spirit and with plenty of ’chilli-chilli’ (calmness throughout each point - not getting too excited in the score zone and not throwing it away) and managed to take fifth place - awesome Ulti… a really well deserved spot on the log.
