<p>Candidates need to be willing to assist with homework, transporting children (eg, sport practices), assist children with chores, walk dog, start dinner, and other light household tasks (i.e. help empty and fill dishwasher, fold laundry, and the occasional load of wash).</p>
<p>The ideal person would have experience caring for children, be in college or graduate school, and must have own car.</p>
<p>Hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. 10-15 hours per week.</p>
<p>Pay rate: $15 an hour</p>

<p>Position Summary:</p>
<p>This position requires sufficient knowledge in various aspects of research and statistical analysis. The researcher will assist in all psychometric related issues involved in Scantron K-12 products. This includes data mining, data management, data analysis, technical documentation, and Scantron support documentation. He or she will also use a variety of computer programs, developing some level of expertise in each.</p>
<p>Key Duties / Responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in ensuring integrity and accuracy of product components, including technical and content</li>
<li>Assist in psychometric procedures for Scantron K-12 assessments</li>
<li>Management and manipulation of large data samples</li>
<li>Statistical Analysis with both small and large samples</li>
<li>Work with Content Specialist to ensure accuracy of test items and alignments</li>
<li>Work with Software Developers to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of reporting and testing engines</li>
<li>Oversee item pool replenishing and all related procedures</li>
</ul>
<p>Secondary Duties / Responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Some travel required</li>
<li>Maintain familiarity with CAT/IRT model and research related issues with the testing engine</li>

<p>Mentor will be required to work a minimum of 8 hours per month. Mentoring activities will be provided in the child’s home (in Chelsea, MI) and in the surrounding communities. Training will be provided by the child’s parents, including a transition period of getting to know the family and child’s needs before mentor and child work on their own.</p>
<p>Mentor will be paid $15 an hour.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p>
<ul>
<li>At least six-months experience working with children ages 10-13</li>
<li>Past experience working with children with behavioral challenges</li>
<li>Patience and willingness to work with a child with special needs</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license and own means of transportation</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The School of Education Interactive Communications &#038; Simulations Project, in conjunction with the International Poetry Guild, is seeking candidates who are interested in working on-site with children who are taking part in an after-school poetry club at Adams Elementary School in the Wayne-Westland school district.</p>
<p>This project runs a number of web-based humanities projects that bring upper elementary through high school students into contact with peers and with university student &#8220;mentors.&#8221; These mentors work with the younger students in the context of courses taught at the School of Education.</p>
<p>Interested candidates need to commit to facilitating this club for the fall term (though at mutual consent there will likely be an opportunity to extend into winter) on either Tuesday or Thursday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. With support from colleagues of the project, you will plan and conduct weekly sessions, working with the poets on their writing as well as their participation in the online Poetry Guild. The job pays $10/hour for both teaching and travel time. Please note that you will need to provide your own transportation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Chelsea Center for the Arts is a non-profit music and art center located in downtown Chelsea, offering both children&#8217;s and adult education.  They are currently seeking new, energetic art instructors to teach in the after-school children&#8217;s art program. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in the arts and experience working with elementary and middle school-aged students.  Instructors should be well-versed in various mediums and materials, have excellent communication skills, and have a great attitude with parents and students.  Typical courses are held in Chelsea once or twice each week after school and usually run approximately eight weeks.  Pay for student instructors is commensurate with experience and ranges between $20 and $24 per hour.  Summer and holiday teaching opportunities exist as well and are offered to current instructors based on performance.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Institutional Research Department at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is continuing to invite currently enrolled graduate students to apply for a halftime Research Analyst position (20 hours per week). Work includes data analysis, survey research, and technical processing tasks. Position pay is approximately $18.80/hour without benefits.</p>
<p>Minimum qualifications: Current enrollment in graduate program and successful recent completion of one or more graduate level courses in statistics, social science, applied survey research, or quantitative discipline with emphasis on statistical methods. Must have experience using statistical software such as SPSS. Preference for individuals with additional experience writing queries and creating reports in MS Access and/or SQL programming experience. Also requires the ability to readily learn other software applications on the job and the willingness to engage in data processing as well as research.</p>
<p>The position is typically filled by individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program who seek to gain hands-on experience in applied social research using quantitative methods. Must be able to make a firm good faith commitment to 20 hours at the WCC campus on a consistent weekly schedule three days per week through May 2011. Schedule must be daytime hours but can be tailored to fit one’s course schedule within the stated requirements. Starting date is early September 2010.</p>
<p>Must be fluent in the English language. U-M students who are foreign nationals must have authorization to work at other employers besides U-M. F-1 students must have Curricular Practical Training (CPT).</p>

<p>GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs and is designed to follow a cohort of students, the class of 2012, as they complete high school and prepare for college. Adults in the program strive to prepare students for all of the opportunities that will assist them in their ambitions of obtaining a college education and life after high school.</p>
