Hi...

Been busy sorting things out in my life. My physical health has gotten a lot better. My mental health has also improved. But still I always think things could be better. I should work harder in every aspect of my life. Not give in to laziness. And I've gotten soooooooooooo lazy the past years. At least compared to how I used to be.

The same but not the same

It's been a while since my last update and so much has happened. But then again nothing happened much really.

I still have this auto-immune disease. I still feel sad and lonely once in a while (but who doesn't). I still enjoy my k-drama's and Thai lakorns. I still watch a movie every now and then. I still meet up with my friends. I still like to play around with Adobe programs. I still love eating delicious food even if preparing it myself might not be as good as the original dish. I still love my parents (oh my). I still miss my relatives overseas. I still haven't been able to visit them. It's been 5 years now.

As regards to my disease, luckily the doses has been reduced and I'm nearly rid of that one atrocious tasting pill.

The first time my tongue touched its surface I nearly puked. It has a horrible bitter taste, worse than gastric juice, eurrrrghh. After which I started to flick it to the back of my mouth, nearly hitting my uvula, before drowning it with a large gulp of water to prevent it ever touching my tongue. But that didn't work as the part where the tongue can taste bitterness is actually at the back. So nowadays I try to gently flick them towards the front or center (neutral taste area) of my tongue to avoid the horrible taste. What a detailed description of something that has become such a tedious activity in my life....

The sad and lonely days have become less and been replaced by more happy days. This is mostly due to all the new, modern, and well written drama's I've seen this year. I just love how things are changing in the Asian broadcasting industry be it slow but still ever evolving. Even though culturally things have already changed a lot, seeing that young people on the streets are more straightforward with their actions and behavior towards PDA, opposed to what you actually get to see on TV which is a reflection of how things were (let's say) 10-25 years ago.

Example 1: The only physical contact the leading couple of a Thai lakorn used to have is near the ending (2 months long, 2-3 episodes 1,5 hour each p/wk.) or at the end of the final episode. That's like waiting for 36 hours to reach some sort of romantic climax.

Example 2: The K-dramas have become somewhat more realistic, but there are still some storylines that have one of the two leading characters (or more people), die of some sort of horrid disease or terrible accident after overcoming some sort of tremendous hurdle in life. Or they have to go through unbelievably ridiculous misfortune (by fault of their own or thanks to the people around them). But yet get to have some sort of happiness after all in the end.

Or not, in which that case the writers tend to aim for the story to have some sort of message or meaning like "karma comes back to you", or "you can't outrun the truth", "this is how a good parent/child should be" etc.

Both Thai lakorn and K-dramas have this in common: the leading characters are too good to be true. The female character is too kind, too good-looking, and too weak (physically and mentally) and the male character is also too nice, too righteous, and too masculine (either physically or mentally).

But that has changed! I don't have to cringe so often as I did in the past. This year was very much un-cringingly watchable.

Visiting friends has been such a joy, for there is a new born in my life. My friends baby though. Such an adorable little boy called Sven. And soon after his birth, another friend of mine was expecting her second child of whom she just gave birth to 2 weeks ago, 12th September woohoo.

I'm going to have to hurry before my ovaries dry out haha.

And even though I'm surrounded with great friends and loving parents, I still miss a part of me that's left in that far away country where all the 4 seasons have something in common: the temperature.

I'm working hard to finally being able to visit the ones I have so much love for. And hope that will be someday soon...like January 2015?

Been cleaning up en compressing my harddrive. Wish I had the money to purchase the all and powerful Mac Pro! I'm not technical oriented, meaning I don't give a d*rn as long as it works to my needs.... Besides I don't have the patients to figure it out on my own. I'd rather have a technical nerd explain it to me than trying to grasp to notion of :

Something entirely different, my dinner preparations.
I've been posting pics of my cookeries online to FB. Just to let people (I don't often see) know I'm still doing ok. Why I don't post profile pics of myself online? Because I don't feel like it... I never really enjoyed taking pics of myself, up until a few years ago and not anymore today because of my illness. The side effect of this medication I'm taking is BLOATING of the body, mainly in the face and torso area. It s*cks, and to protect myself and those people from depression I avoid taking pics of me...haha.

Anywho, after posting food pics someone suggested I'd create a cook book...........which inspired me to think of creating a layout for a cook book. I'm thankfully not deluded enough to think I'm a great cook, but making something tiny for friends would be fun. Besides it'll give me something to do.

I could have taken some pics while cooking and eating but FORGOT because I was starving that day. As you can see, I emptied my plate! Good thing I remembered to take a shot of the finished dish. It tastes really good with some fresh crunchy vegetables on the side and I happened to have some paprika otherwise cucumbers would also have been excellent.
More food perhaps in the near future and that's it for this entry!

Chapters, drafts and sketches

Instead of continuing with the abstract thingy I mentioned yesterday, I took a complete different route....
I finished up adding a few more swatches in Illustrator...just to bulk up my collection - -"...and came up with an idea for a page in my portfolio.
It all started with this idea on paper.

One night I was scribbling away on little pieces of paper I had laying around on my desk. After coming up with an idea on how to present my stuff to the outside world physically, (being it potential clients or employers) I now had to figure out what I want say and what my work is going to portray.
You can see the results in the following pics.
The colours I've chosen are just for contrast purposes...and to get a general idea on the physical look of the design.

The page I mentioned earlier is part of a booklet I'll be creating which is part of my portfolio.The booklet is only 13 x 13 cm big (about the size of a CD cover). It will contain about 9 chapters. I'll be only using 2 pages per chapter to explain the subject matter. Still following this? The chapter I'm referring to is supposed to portray the tools I use to design. I kept things simple since I don't want to exaggerate ( LIE ), and besides that, it also helps keep the design in balance haha!

Anywho....keywords are PS, AI, ID & FL ( Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Flash ). But since I also like to use my hands, as you can tell in all the scribbles and mock-ups I've made in the pics above, I'll also mention ballpoints, pencils markers etc.

I've picked the program initials and added a few items that I would create a drawing of in Illustrator.

Portfolio

Oh gosh, I was supposed to update more regularly but failed again.
I haven't been sitting still though...

Done some soulsearching....some what true...but not entirely.
Have been messing around with a portfolio or what not.
And I've figured it's pretty hard to put together something you haven't been able to put your mind to for quite some time. I wish I wasn't as ill as I have been. I wish I had enough energy to just be able to scribble on a piece of paper long enough that could have been of some use to me now, instead of having to take a 30 minutes break every time I moved an inch in or out of bed.

Other than fatigue, I was also lacking inspiration. But that's what you get from facing 4 walls(more or less) over a time periode of 2 years. And that's aside from visiting a few friends every now and then (once every 2 to 3 months). Just because I wasn't physically able to.

I've been missing photography a LOT. Once I was able enough to sit behind a computer for more than 10 minutes I finally bought a battery charger! And I've been taking some pics lately. Too bad I'm not happy with most of them hahaha. They're all nature and shots of doggies. I'll upload them soon.

But back to the portfolio. My interest are pretty broad in the literal sense of the word and so it's making it very hard for me to decide what to USE or create that's good enough for my portfolio.
I want to keep it simple and clean with an explosion of my eclecticness on DISC...LOL...
I've been wanting to create an abstract thingy with Photoshop today but decided in the end (after nearly finishing the darn thing) to RECREATE it in Illustrator! But then I stumbled upon some lovely color swatches that I HAD to add to my collection...and ended up adding them to my Illustrator swatch library.... I don't have a lot of money and so I just added them by hand which took me an entire evenening! Hence making it impossible for me to finish the abstract thingy in Illustrator before DAWN, having not even started with creating the much needed basic PATTERNS.

I got a little restless and so I've created a birthday card (poem card) for a

former colleague. His name is Nick (but my nickname for him is Nickelodeon), a married man with two children. He does have the link to this blog....so I hope he wont visit anytime soon, unless it's AFTER he received this card! I still have 20 days left, till the actual day, and so there's some editing time left.

But I think I'll keep the color variety, variety in layout and the font "Baar Sophia" for the poem part.

Bad memory

I can't recall when I've last written a letter...

Things used to be so simple.

As a child you'd have the least worries in the world.

The hardest thing you'd have to think about was how to win at a game played outside with friends or how to please your parents in order to receive affection or praise (or gifts ....hehe).

Kids nowadays grow old too fast. They don't play the way I used to play.

When I was 12 years old I still worried about climbing trees, swimming in ponds, preparing/buying and eating food together with friends.......doing things a child should be doing at that age.

All I see today is little girls worrying about their outer appearance. Wearing make-up, wearing cloths not age appropriate, wondering how to appease the boys.....

Yuk.....haha...at least that's how my thoughts were when hearing my female friends jokingly talk about that stuff at the time.

Boys/men/males.......the opposite sex......were never an interest of mine that way, not until I've reached the age of 17-18 though. Before that I considered everybody a friend no matter what gender they are.

It's all fine as long as it fun and games develloping into innocent affections for one another leading to holding hands and perhaps a kiss on the cheeks or lips for that matter. First base is as far as things should go at that age. Haha...perhaps I'm old-fashioned....

Perhaps I just think young women should appreciate themselves more. They are worth more than what they might think themselves to be. Giving themselves away just for the sake of a little bit of affection from the opposite sex is beyond my comprehension. Where did all this insecurity come from?

I guess that's the reason why I approach males as a friend till today.

I find it quite funny how some women parade with their femininity and disturbingly pathetic how most men easily fall for their tricks. Yuk....haha.

Even if I'm attracted to some one, I wouldn't know how to act a certain way to make them aware of my attraction.

I have no seduction skills whatsoever other than being myself haha.

Unless they prefer a woman who's competitive, curious and laughs and giggles easily once she's met a person who has the same sense of humour as she does regardless of their gender haha.

I used to love writing letters, to friends, to relatives in Thailand.

I always wanted to write letters to my boyfriend, but too bad that hasn't happened yet in my life.

Perhaps it never will, since we're living in this digital era.

Receiving a love-email is something entirely different and can't compare to a handwritten love-letter.

Haha.

Proverbs

Kind of hard to do when you're unwillingly put into a certain situation that makes you the way you are.
But I'd love to let go of what I am now.....a bit of a contradiction huh?
I'm trying so hard to literally let go of what I am. I am fighting this disease with all my might and will not give up until I've become my old self again. But then again I can never go back to the way I used to be so in reality I'm trying to become a better me. And that is sort of what this proverb means to me. Better oneself, pysically, mentally , emotionally and spiritually.

FREAKIN' HARD TO DO,
but I nevertheless am willing to.
It gives me peace and the ability to relativize. Keeps me down to earth, to never take things for granted and apreciate the things I've got contrary to what I don't have.

BUT........peoples thoughts always wander. At least normal people do. You can't stop dreaming or fantasising about the "what if's". And so do I.
I dreammmmmmmmmm, yes I do.
I dream of a bright future. I dream of doing MY THING. I dream of a bit of regularity since I barely have some nowadays. I hope and look forward to how I will feel once I've reached the goal I've set for myself.
Whilst dreaming, the images of the people around me come to mind and feelings of envy appear. But quickly subside by the contentment I always have felt seeing them happy and healtily living their lives.

I never used to feel jealous or envious of people that way............UNLESS it's about a digital gadget purchase (meaning they bought something I'd LOVE TO HAVE). Other fators were never an issue to me. I had my own troubles and tribulations to worry about so why bother about other peoples misery. I'm not talking about empathy ofcourse......................
Anywho...enough said....

Delfts Blauw - Delft Blue

I'm inspired by the Dutch "Delft Blue" style nowadays. And so I've created a Delft Blue pattern, background, and Iphone wallpaper haha.

I started off drawing some vector images with Illustrator. I actually copied some photo's I've Googled and recreated them in Illustrator as drawings haha.

I only made 6 drawings, because I was getting drowsy and wanted to finish before I fell asleep entirely......

After the images, I created a tile.

And to give you a general idea of how it's supposed to look like together:

After which I decided to make a pattern in PS.

AND THEN I figured, what the h*ck, let's just paste something else on and create a wallpaper for my Iphone.....

And guess what.....I'll continue working with this theme untill I get bored with it and put it in the back of my memory files......haha.

I've tried something new........

It tasted great! It wasn't home-made though. Just a prepacked item I bought at an Asian convenience store.
I couldn't finish everything - -".... It was a bit too much for me alone. Moms didn't want to help eat some.
The only thing I did was mix the dip....... Haha. It was a mix of tomatosauce, dried pepperflakes and hot sauce.

Continueing the snapshot theme, I edited the pics I've taken this past Friday as polaroids also.

The "party" was held to celebrate our friend Hanneke for being selected to be this years bride for "Carnaval".

She's the bride of the "Boerenbruiloft" (farmerwedding literally translated) of our town, wich is part of the holidy "Carnaval".

EXPLANATION:

Carnaval is celebrated once every year around Febuary-March. The festivity was celebrated before it's actual set date nowadays and originated in the dark ages (13th-15th century) in the Netherlands.

During the days prior to "Ash wednesday"

(= a Christian holiday; the start of the 40 day abstinence/fast preceding "Easter")

the community was completely indulged into mocking the hierachy of those days.

A temporary monarch ("Vorst" in Dutch), nowadays Prince Carnaval ("Prins Carnaval" in Dutch), will speak and/or mock staightforwardly and suggest the people to act unrestained. Wich was considered quite vulgar-obscene at the time.....haha. During the procession that's held straight through town, containing mostly the type of people the "common folks" love to to live without.

Example of people joining the procession with the Prince at the front:

* gamblers

* drunks

* bossy women

* demons and savages

But also priests, monks and nuns joined in.

All in all, prior to the 40 days abstinence/fast, Carnaval allowed people to paint the town and do things they were normally prohibited to do. Their world was literally turned upside down in a good way....

Nowadays, Carnaval is a 4 day party/fest where people dress up silly, with lots of drinking, hopping around to silly music and having fast food (chips, pizza and various deepfried stuff) at the end of the evening before heading back home. It's a lot of fun when celebrating with a large group of people.

The positive thing about this holiday is that there's NO DISCRIMINATION because everybody looks silly/strange at the time and that would be the pot calling the kettle black.

But the reason I don't celebrate this holiday is because I can't stand the music for more than 1 hour.......haha.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's been a while again and I'm becoming more active on this digital highway called the internet.
Facebook has been a foe and friend of mine eversince I've signed on in 2006 or so....and haven't done anything but accept a few friends and checked out some of their personal pages....
UP UNTIL a month ago.
Since then I've also posted stuff online. And even uploaded a few profile pics a week ago. LOL.

Just this tuesday I've received an email from a DiaryIs friend who has also disappeared from the diary radar haha. And so we've added one another on FB.

Just to note: I am one of those people who's quick to sign on to something new BUT don't participate in the hype. I'm just curious by nature but also lose interest pretty fast if something doesn't hold my attention. Even if people lose themselves in the hype I'm more cautious and most of the time choose my own path in the end.

Tonight I'm visiting a friend of mine to celebrate a fake "hensnight" or bachlorette party.
We...."the people of this province in the Netherlands", celebrate this festivity called "Carnaval" (not comparable to the Brazilian one!) I'll post some pics on the next update.

Fake coke on New Years Eve

Finally, after 2 years, I was able to recharge the battery of my digi cam!

And I've taken some pics with it for the first time during my "New Years Eve-get-together"

with a bunch of friends. They're all couples by the way. I am the only single person of the party, luckily they didn't make me feel like I am haha.

The first part of the evening started of with me and 4 of my friends having dinner, whilst cooking

it ourselfs on little pans/pots.

During the second part (chillin'-boozin'-chatting) two more friends joined the festivities (another couple). The third part consisted of champagne, fireworks watching, some more boozin', having a lot of fun and returning back home to get some shut eye.

Just keep in mind that I haven't touched my cam for over 2 years due to certain factors (and a low battery)....

So the images are quality wise pretty poor, if I say so myself.

I've been working on some vectors like I've mentioned a few blogs ago....... Well......they kinda s*ck haha.
And so I've been doodling with an emoticon tutorial instead. They're quite easy to make once you get the hang of the 'direct selection tool' options. I'll try some more icon designs later haha.

The emo's are a creation I made a few weeks ago.
Here's something I started doodling with since this past Friday (12-02-'11). I wanted to try out this "stitching effect". After making the basic character style with Illustrator the rest was easy. I just had to assign that character style to whatever image, text or symbol I wanted and the program does the rest. Easy does it.

UBrand - ULabel

After playing around with lots of symbols, I decided to do something with my initial and turn it into a brand or label. Something that's stitched to clothing, jeans for instance HOOT!

Reminds me of how I used to sit behind the comp doing stuff for school hahaha. I've had my share of all-nighters! Mostly just because I couldn't stop once I was in the flow of things.....not due to time deficiency LOL. But I also had some trouble with time management hehe..... Well, it's quite normal at that age I believe. Anything other than hitting the books is a better way to consume once time.

I rest my case for now.

Lately I have been browsing for some goodies online, wishing to buy them one day for my own encouragement. I love electronical gadgets. I'm kind of a nerd in that department. Eventough the technical part can be a bit confusing. When it comes to cables, wires, connecting things and such....don't ask. I'm a fast learner when it comes to usage and getting an indept understanding of the equiptment.........just DON'T ask questions. lol

Anything related to photography, APPLE, Adobe or any sort of design grabs my interest too....haha.

Anywho, there's this funny item I once saw posted on a blog 2 years ago. I thought it would make a GREAT birthdaygift (FOR ME) haha, since I don't know a lot of people with the same quirky interest.

The item I'm talking about is a DSLR mug! There's also a vacuum insulated thermos shaped like a NIKON or CANON lens. It's SOOOOO realistic (I like that kinda stuff), people do mistake it for an actual lens haha.

Just love it! Too bad it's not cheap.......................otherwise I would have bought at least 2 mugs and thermoses! Waaaaaaaaa....let's just save up some money first. These aren't nescesities...just silly materialistic wishes of mine haha..........I actually can live without having them in my posession!

Another thingy I've come to dream about is: POLAROID. I love mini photo's and used to take pictures in stickerbooths with my nieces in Thailand every year when I visited them . They (my nieces and the stickerphoto's) are just too cute. The one less positive thing about my younger nieces is that they usually want to brighten up the image TOO much because they like to have the appearance of a lighter skintone hahaha.......

Polaroid has become popular again lately. Newage kids say it's "vintage" because they're the DIGITAL generation. Hahaa. It's kinda funny. I'm sort of an inbetween kid. Born in the right era to have experienced both. And since I love photography here's the cute mini Polariod cam I found online. It's not that expensive for a Polaroid but perhaps compared to the capabilities of a digicam it probably is LOL.

A friend of mine celebrated their birthday last month and due to the fact that he lives in Thailand, I of course couldn't congratulate him in person haha. So I created a birthday card for him in PS instead.

He once told me (a few years ago) that he loves candy.....but I apparently forgot because I asked him once more last month what he would like to have for a birthday present.
We have the kind of friendship where neither age, social status or heritage are important and so I truly value the little time we get to converse online (either by phone or comp hehe).
He'll always be silly Cyder to me haha.
Perhaps someday I get to congratulate him in person and treat him to a meal when I get to visit Thailand again.

Here's the result of my PS & AI work. The lollipop and flowery background are made in Ai and vector symbols found online. The rest is layered and finished up in PS.

An explanation of the nickname Cyderman:

His actual name (nickname in Thai) is Sui. He used an online nicknamed called Suicyder during chat sessions.

And because I was impressed by his guitar playing and singing abilities I decided to call him Cyderman since Superman was a little bit too exaggerating ^^.

I trend to give people nicknames as soon as I meet them. Dunno why I do it, it's a strange habit of mine. It's not meant to be mean......really no pun intended!

This band is a quite popular South-Korean band called CNBlue. They're known all over Asia.

I came to know about them because I've seen the lead vocalist sing in a KDrama when playing the male lead in the drama: "Heart Strings". Haha.... My taste in music is quite eclectic...... But ermm...........at the moment I'm quite into KPOP lol.

Perhaps Suicyder can introduce me to some new popular Thai songs someday. But I guess he's probably busy with keeping his business afloat at the moment considering the flood and all T-T....

I hope no there will be no more casualties and the government will develop a new emergency plan in case of future reprices.

Tears kept rolling from my eyes when I was listening to this song on my way back home from the hospital.
I don't know why but it reminded me of how I used to miss this special person in my life. The lyrics are literally telling my story. After ending my relationship with this person the feeling of missing became worse. The agony I went through lasted for 2 whole years. After which I promised myself to never fall that deep again.
But then again....you cannot control ones heart.
Nowadays I'm just cautious. When I even get the slightest inclination of leaning in too much, I'll stop myself midway.

But the more I listened, the more this song became more than just about heartache to me.

I kept seeing images of my Thai relatives. It was like a home video was played by memory. At first they were happy memories.... Then the images brought back my deceased grandparents...after which my late nephew appeared in my mind. I couldn't stop the flow of saltiness leaking from my eyes! It was horrible...I couldn't stop myself the entire day.

Probably due to my medication as well....haha....blame it on the drugs >_<".

While tears were flowing I continued to listen to this song. It's quite short. Everytime the fade out begins I feel like it should last longer!

I really hate goodbyes. Whether they're short term or everlasting.

It probably has gotten worse over the years. I had to say goodbye and miss people since childhood (age 4). I'm a person who tends to get attached to people I feel comfortable around pretty fast, and there for I also feel hurt very easily. Nobody around me knows this though because I don't show these emotions in front of them. I'm the loner type and like to cry by myself. But ever since I had to take all these meds I can't control my feelings anymore. It's all in the open. My face is like an open book!

That's probably why I avoid meeting up with acquaintances. Only close friends are allowed to see me at my worst.

I used to be a little bit people shy. Now it feels like I have people phobia! I get very anxious and nervous around crowed places. The first time I felt this way was when I attended a friends' birthday party. It was a joint party she held with her boyfriend. So his friends were also present.....(people I don't know personally but just by name and hearsay). It felt like I was experiencing a panic attack....I got extremely hot, and tears started to form. I cried, without making a sound. Thankfully my friend's shielded me from the crowd since we were standing in the far corner of the room, as I turned my back toward them facing the wall. I had to swallow my tears real quick if I didn't want to get find out and head toward the bathroom fast.

I made it safely to the bathroom and splashed some water on my face to help rid the tears. Nobody noticed....except for my friends ofcourse haha.

It's weird though....I'm used to dancing in front of a lot of people but this type of anxiety is new to me.

I hope people don't get the wrong idea and think I'm trying to avoid them for any other reason than me being anxious about my current appearance. It's not that I want to avoid them it's just that I can't bring myself to overcome this hurdle yet. I have to rid myself of the shame first. Since I still don't feel like I'm quite myself just yet. I don't want them to see me as a sick person, as someone who is weak and frail. Because I don't feel like I am such a person. I know I have this illness but I don't want to get it rubbed into my face every time someone brings it up. So I'm living a lie at the moment. I feel better than I actually am.

There are still a lot of things I have to get used and adjust to. And maybe I never will be able to adjust. It's a bit scary though to think I might never get out of this hole I feel like I'm trapped in at the moment. So I try to think positive instead. It used to be so easy to me......but since I've been knocked down quite a lot of times the past couple of years it has gotten more difficult to overcome.

Anywho.........I'll keep fighting!!!

I've found a funny thing I made in Ai. The original image was worse that this version is haha.

It reminded me of some techniques I forgot all about.

Good thing I save all my unfinished files....well at least the ones I've made on my laptop during the time I still attended school.....(2 yrs ago already - -"). I'll spare my own dignity by NOT posting the original from way back when.

Ai abstract vector redesigned

This is still very amateurisch...but I had fun doodling with the tools I've rediscovered in Ai thx to the WACK original I found on my computer! haha

Finished abstract redesigned in PS

I've finished the abstract painting in PS by adding some layers, lensflares, glow effects, and some layer effects. It brightened up the whole thingy. The original (again found on a tutorial website) was supposed to convey a burning solarsystem. The jiddery waves surrounding it is supposed to be "smoke". Strange how there are different colours of smoke huh? Well I guess that's what makes it an ABSTRACT painting!

I'll try to make some vector icons while I'm at it for the next update.

Something totally different: MY DINNER. Yes I do cook. If you can call this cooking. This to me is called "lazy cooking".

It consists of:

1. Boiling water,

2. Add the noodles when the water is boiled,

3. Add any type of meat you prefer (or going by the packaging flavour)

In this case it's prawns or as they say in Thai: "goong".

But I didn't feel like eating prawns so I added chicken instead HAHAHA.

Very common to do so.

Especially if you don't happen to have prawns.

4. Add the spice mix (added in the packaging)

5. Add veggies

In my case I've added some bean sprouts (taugé in Dutch) and put a few Thai basil leaves and fresh sprouts on top for decoration. But I also ate it OFCOURSE.

I've only "decorated" my bowl for the pic. So I don't normally do this....for anybody.

What am I.....a restaurant chef? NOT.

I don't like to boast about myself, but I dare say I'm pretty good at copying or recreating things from originals. The thing I'm not so confident about are my own creations. I haven't drawn something for quite some time now.

I'm good at drawing faces. But I always wanted to do more cartoonisch stuff. I was never good at that. I have great imagination, creating storylines, ,giving funny twists to serious stories, it just doesn't come out the same on paper! LOL

Anywho...I'll keep on trying...and as they say in South Korea: FIGHTING!

I was starting to get ill during the time I took this pic with my mobile phone. You can't really tell..........but my kidneys are under attack! Haha....kidding. I dunno. But I wasn't that ill to be hospitalized yet. Instead check my lips. They're HUGE, because of an alergic reaction to something I ate that day. Can't by the love of god remember what it was though - -".

Something I made after following a tutorial and used my own text.

Something I made for fun for a friend.

She asked me to be the photographer of a photoshoot for her. The concept was inspired by an old wedding picture of her parents. She and her siblings had the idea to recreate the moment on film. It was supposed to be a gift for her parents 25th anniversary. I had to use an unfamiliar camera (hers a Pentax). I myself own a Nikon D80. Apparently I did a good job, because the pictures came out well. I haven't seen them printed out myself but I'll just have to take her word for it.

The first time I heard this song I was only browsing through YouTube out of bordom.
He: Daniel de Bourg, did an excellent cover of the original. I just had to post it up here.
After I finished listening to the song, I've checked on Itunes if Beyoncés new album was already available. It was....and I immediately searched for a way to doanload it for free!!! Bad habit huh....but ermmmm....most songs I buy legally ^^".
All his covers are amazing by the way. I'm not so sure about all his collaborations with other YouTube artists though. He sounds best on his own.

It's been a while I've seen the people in the photo above. Little Gun should be about 2 years old by now. Oh (girl holding him) is his aunty.This picture was taken in 2009 during my 10 days visit to Thailand. My mother and I were only there to attend my grandfathers funeral. I barely had time to grieve, preperations took all our energy. I've taken a lot of pictures during the ceremony and such... A terrible thing happened to some of the pics I took. I've uploaded 600+ to my old computer. The darn thing crashed on me. Now I'm afraid to get it looked at, fearing I might lose everything......argghhh.

I can't remember his name though. I've only seen him for about 2 hours after this picture was taken. After wich his mother took him home with her (to a village nearby). Two days later I had to head back to the Netherlands again.

Usually the little kids all remember me after being apart for 1 year. But since these two kiddows are so young I don't think they'll have any recollection of me. Though Oh once told me on the phone little Gun called out my name when he saw a photo of mine in her room once. That made my day...haha.

The most common heart problem linked to lupus is an inflammation of the sac around the heart. This may cause severe pain in the left side of the chest. People with lupus are also more likely to develop plaques that narrow or clog the arteries. This can lead to coronary artery disease. Other complications include heart valve disease and inflammation of the heart muscle. Call 911 immediately for chest pain, rather than trying figure out the cause yourself.

Urggghh...
Heart problems, and I'm not talking about the emotional type.
For a while I've noticed an increase in my heart rate during physiotherapy. It didn't cause any alarmbells to me. But after it reached 180 bpm for the third time in 2 weeks I figured I needed a checkup. My physicaltherapist was a bit concerned since it's not a normal heart rate for someone my age....aherm. I was perspiring an awfull lot, was out of breath and felt a bit of pain on the left side of my chest. All that....just after 10 minutes of cycling! I was sent home immediately by my therapist after she wrote down the heart rate on a post-it for me. Once at home my chestpain had gotten worse.... - I don't know what it feels like to have a heartattack - .... It felt like I was experiencing a heartattack. I could barely breathe and laying down was the only thing that kept my mind at ease and body in check.

The next day I went and got a checkup by my GP. She in return made an appointment at the hospital for me to get an ECG (Electrocardiogram) and an echocardiogram. That was 1 week or so ago. Today I've visited my GP again for the results.
She told me they thankfully couldn't find anything alarming. But I was told to contact her immediately when I experience any more chestpains or such.

I go about my normal ways and hardly think about stuff like that, even now that I know I have this illness. It can be frightning if you think about it for too long...... But then again what's the use of scaring oneself? Haha.
Still I need to get myself in check and face some facts! Rub it in, so that I am viligent of any weird symptoms popping up that might be the cause for this silly illness of mine to flare again.

To think this is my life now just seems weird to me. My friends have absolutely no idea what I go through when experiencing something like this. Mostly to my own doing. I usually tell them it's nothing out of the ordinary, just a check-up. That they have nothing to worry about. That I'll tell them only to start worrying when I end up in a hospital again. Haha. Why should I let them worry? They've got their own lives and relatives lives to worry about...why add mine to that list? Naaa......it's better this way. Besides I don't want any pity from others...because I wallow in self-pity myself every now and then - -"....AFTER wich I tend to pick myself up again pretty fast.

Anywho....moral of the story is: I'm fine, I'm doing ok, I'll be even better in the future, mark my words you silly illness you!

KDrama addiction

Hi, my name is Uma and I'm an addict. A KDrama addict.
My all time favourite has to be "Coffee Prince a.k.a. The first shop of Coffee Prince".

Synopsis:
The life of Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) is not easy; she works many jobs to pay off debts and even gave up her feminine image. Choi Han Kyul (Gong Yoo) is the heir of a big food company, but his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates. Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. Han Kyul’s grandmother also made Han Kyul in charge of a filthy coffee shop in danger of being bankrupt. Eun Chan begged to work at the coffee shop, and not long after, feelings start to spark, except, how would Han Kyul accept his “homosexuality”?

Hahaha....such a sweet story! The characters are so believable. I just fell in love with Goong Yoo (main actor, plays Choi Han Kyul).

Goong Yoo

Yoon Eun Hye (main actress) I knew from the KDrama "Goong a.k.a. Princess Hours". Her character in Goong is adorable and annoying in the beginning. In Coffee Prince you sympathise with her situation and cry along every time her character drops a tear. This drama also makes you wish you can bumb into a guy like Han Kyul who loves a person for who they are despite of their gender.
I am straight myself but appeciate the thought the writers and director have put into this subject matter. It's just beautifull how love can transcend gender and social status.

It tickles the imagination how Choi Han Kyul struggles with his feelings. He's a straight man himself but thinks he's going crazy because of his growing feelings towards a young "boy" he feels so much sympathy for. He even consults a psychiatrist who in return prescribes him pills to take over a period of 3 days. LOL...like that's going to solve anything.

They've told this story really well. I just have to state that for non-Asians the social context might be difficult to understand at times but you have to bare through it. I did sometimes get impatient with how the characters dealt with certain situations, I was going too fast (European temperament), but then remembered their social status and culture is also involved and compared them with my own Thai heritage. After wich I cooled down a few notches and got carried away in the flow of the drama again....haha.
Eventhough the main story is about the evolving relationship of the main characters, the different side stories are intersting too, so every episode stays entertaining.

I just can't get enough of this story!

* Can You Hear My Heart (long winded...haven't finished watching)
* Bad Couple (2011 drama, haven't start watching)
* Scent Of A Woman (2011 drama ongoing, love this romantic story, and the main actress has a backbone! waiting for the last 6 episodes)
* Lovestory In Harvard (old, seen it a few years ago)

And not to mention all the KMovies I've seen. There's just TOO many to mention.
I'm a film freak. I can tell you all the Western movies/animations I've seen this year alone but that's just boring. So as a shortcut I'll just mention the amount....200+...hehe.

The last Western movie I've seen this weekend with my longtime friend KC is called "Paul" starring Simon Pegg & Nick Frost. It's a sciencefiction comedy. Very funny indeed. Wonder how "The Hangerover II" will turn out, since they've filmed a big partion of it in Thailand hehe. And "Limitless" which also stars Bradley Cooper. I'd also like to see "Bridesmades".

Ahhh...that enough about KDrama's and such for today. I'm almost satiated when it comes to this genre...so I'm kicking the habit at the moment. Just watch a little every now and again. I'm just killing time waiting for "Scent of a Woman" to finish.

Wow....10 years already...
It's a bit hard to believe. I can still remember where I was at that point in time.
I just got out of the shower drying my hair and turned on the tv. The news was on, wich was kind of weird since it wasn't normal at that time of day for a news broadcast. Suddenly they showed a livefeed of the events happening in the US. I saw the two towers. One was filled with black smoke and a huge hole at the top and on the other side an airplane was headed towards the other tower. The Empire State Building was under attack.

My train of thought:
WTF??? is going on? Some horrible accident? But how is that possible? If it was an accident, how come the first tower was already in flames and the one plane that I saw was still intact? How did the fire start on the first tower? An explosion perhaps?

Within seconds it all became clear. It was a terrorist attack. Camera's zooming in at the top. People climbing out of windows, some even jumping out. Urgghhh a horrible sight to see. How I feared for all those people in those buildings.
And in the end it all came crashing down.

I've watched the documentary of some guys that just happend to be making a documentary about the NYC fire department. Everything just went dark when the towers came crashing down. Dust covered I don't know how many blocks... It must have been frightning. So many people died. What makes these events worse than natural causes is that it's intentional. Some random actions of really crazy people who in a blink of an eye end the lives of innocent bystanders. What is there to gain...? Only more destruction will follow by retalliation...and another war is born.

You can try to understand their frustrations but never their actions. At least I can't.
