We are now able to confirm that Umber Creative will be moving into their new offices in time for Monday the 29th of October.

Our new phone number will be:

Our new office address will be:
Umber Creative
Unit 21 Newlands House
Newlands Science Park
Inglemire Lane
Hull
HU6 7TQ

----------------

The time has come for Umber Creative to leave its first office in the truly excellent University of Hull Enterprise Centre. However, we could not bring ourselves to move too far away form the area which we love working in.

We are moving to our new offices over the coming weeks and we will be bringing you the phone numbers and moving dates as soon as these are confirmed, we will update these onto this website as soon as possible and will be contacting our suppliers and our customers directly.

This is an exciting time for Umber Creative and we hope to minimise any disruption caused during this move which is being taking with the goal of further improving the range, quality and value of our services for our customers over the coming months and years.

We are looking forward to inviting you all down to join us in the new office very soon.

Dodgeball Fever

Dodgeball fever has dodged, dipped, ducked, dived and dodged its way into Umber Towers and the city of Hull in general following the success of #dodgeballhull.

Umber Creative were represented in force in the team 'Reservoir Dodge' and had a blast at the Bonus Arena at the KC Stadium through 6 gruelling rounds of high tempo dodgeball.

Unfortunately we missed out on a spot in the final through a technicality (something to do with not having won enough games or some such none-sense) but congratulations go to team 'Balls of Duty' for scooping the gold(ish) trophy.

If your thinking about taking part in a future dodgeball event in Hull just remember the immortal words of Patches O'Houlihan - Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you!

Expanding the team

Over recent months our customers have become familiar with the latest member of the Umber Creative team.

We are pleased to introduce Kara Dawson. Kara has fitted straight into the team and is enjoying life, listening, laughing and learning the trade as a graphic designer.

Be sure to say hello when you next visit us or give her a follow @karamaedawson

Biz Week: Giving Back

We were delighted to be asked to get involved with the Hull Biz Week 2012 event, "Giving Something Back & Why it is Good For Business" by Hull City Council's, Chris Howell. The event, in conjunction with Joanne Cook of Hull University Business School and Antony Wallis of Business in the Community, was focused toward SMEs and getting across the real positives in giving back and helping local communities.

SMEs represent the majority of businesses in Hull and therefore the greatest capacity to get involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) the event provided practical advice on how organisations can give back to the community. Sharing their experiences on the day were representatives from the Co-operative Group, Federation of Small Farms, Community Gardens and Paul Sewell of The Sewell Group.

We supported the event by suppling a short quiz revolving around our CSR activities over our first years of business which was well received by delegates and speakers alike. This exercise alone really highlighted to us how much we have been able to contribute to our local community. With a surprising statistic that that over half of all our business has been gained through some sort of CSR activity somewhere in the chain.

Prior to the Event Chris Howell, senior partnership officer at Hull City Council, said: ‘If we are going to improve the quality of life for people in Hull, we need everyone to contribute: the public sector, businesses, our voluntary & community groups and individuals alike.

‘Quite simply, for Hull, support for our communities is absolutely essential, now more than ever and businesses can make a huge impact on people's lives by getting involved.’

We couldn't have put it better ourselves...

Post-it Note World

The Family Bones go wild with post-it notes in this unusual and entertaining music video.
The '10 Deadly Sins of Business Networking Event' saw UK networking guru Will Kintish (@kintish) deliver an excellent presentation on the virtues and sins of business networkers and gave Hull a masterclass ahead of the Hull Business Week.

Well done to the whole Business Springboard team on delivering another great event and thank you to all who attended. We look forward to seeing you all at the next event and we can all safely say #ivebeenkintished

East Hull Champions

As Euro 2012 fever grips the nation Umber Creative has big footballing news of its own (and its nothing to do with Steve Bruce).

The deserving youngsters of East Hull Saints (@easthullsaints) under 9s team have done their Umber Creative sponsored shirts proud and lifted the trophy after finishing the 2011/12 season as champions.

We are delighted to played a small part in sharing their success and offer our well deserved congratulations to the team and the coaches.

Well played lads!

£23k via charity site

Late in 2011 after discussions with one of our chosen charity partners, Hull and East Yorkshire Smile Foundation (@SmileF_Hull), we donated our time to create a fundraising website to run alongside a charity event they were running.

We saw this as an opportunity to really add value to the charity by using a bit of know-how and the opportunities afforded by tying in with existing web-services to create a small website that would manage donations through the Just Giving website but most importantly bring back the data from donations and create a dynamic leader table (with up to the minute totals) to encourage a competitive angle amongst participants with the aim of increasing the amount of donations.

The event was themed and based around HMP Hull (yes, the prison) and saw some high profile business leaders from within the city locked away for the day with employees, business associates, co-workers, friends and family donating money to raise bail money to get them out (or perhaps in some cases keep them in).

As the contestants would need to be able to see the league table whilst in the prison we also took the opportunity to use some emerging web techniques to make the layout flexible and to have an optimised view for mobile devices such as iPhones or Android handsets.

The event was a great success and raised a staggering £23,366 for the Smile Foundation. Take a look at the website and final figures at www.bossbehindbars.co.uk

Happy Birthday to us

As some of our clients and close friends will know the second milestone in the Umber journey has now been passed - Umber Creative is two years old!

Our second year has seen us work with some more interesting companies locally, nationally and internationally. We have had some challenges, some triumphs and good times over the last year along with meeting some great people and making some great account wins for Team Umber.

We remain ambitious and look forward to working on exciting projects over the next year, but in looking back at the 12 months past we have been proud of our works with the Smile Foundation and in playing a key role with Business Springboard (http://www.business-springboard.com) a local networking group that have delivered some great events (for free!) to Hull's Business Community.

Finally we would like to say a really big thank you to everyone who has helped, supported and put their trust in us - we really can't do what we do without you.
