my.UMDNJ Portal Downtime for BANNER Upgrade

From 6:00AM on Saturday, November 12, 2011 to 11:00AM, Sunday, November 13, 2011 Banner and my.umdnj.edu portal will be down due to a scheduled Banner database upgrade. Banner Self-Service (Employee/Finance/Student-FinAid/Faculty) will be unavailable during the upgrade. ANGEL can be accessed from the alternate login site HERE during this maitenance window.

ANGEL Issue with Assessments containing Question Sets

Overview:
There is a recently identified known issue that can potentially effect Assessments utilizing Question Sets.

Details:
In an Assessment, if the Question Set is not “configured” to “use assessment settings”, it will not allow a student to modify any answers after an initial response is made and the “next/previous” button is selected. This affects all Question types within the affected Question Set.

Recommended Action:
Please review this workaround to modify any assessments that have the above settings. We request that anyone involved in the creation and/or management of assessments with "Question Sets" that require settings different from the overall assessment, complete the following survey. We will be able to provide you with updated information regarding this issue more expeditiously.

Now Available | Custom Student Test Report

A brand new reporting tool is now available in ANGEL for assessments and quizzes. In a joint collaboration with faculty members, IST has custom designed a tool which generates itemized reports for individual student submissions to help instructors conduct class reviews and keep digital records.

Two types of student test reports—one for assessments and one for quizzes—can be accessed (by instructors only) through an addable nugget named “Custom Student Test Reports” on the “Manage” page.

Inaccurate Grading of Certain Multiple-Select Type Assessment Questions

Faculty have reported inaccurate grading for certain multiple-select questions within assessments. ANGEL has confirmed that there is a bug when the grading option for a multiple-select question is set to “All or Nothing”.

Description:
When the grading option is set to “All or Nothing”, students should have to select all of the correct answers to receive full credit. If students do not select all of the correct answers, they should receive a zero. Currently, however, students still receive partial credit (additional points) when they should be receiving zero points.

Problems with Wikis and Blogs in ANGEL

We have received reports from faculty and students that Wiki and Blog entries in ANGEL are appearing and disappearing.

Now Available - ANGEL Library LOR Links in Courses

Instructors can now have selected links to library resources easily included in their ANGEL course. University Libraries Staff has collaborated with Information Services & Technology Department (IST) to create the UMDNJ Libraries Learning Object Repository which allows instructors to easily include library resources in ANGEL courses. A Print Compiler Tool is Now Available in ANGEL Courses and Groups

When added by a course/group editor, the Print Compiler allows users in that course or group to select content items for printing in one document or file.

Personal LOR Expiration

Personal LORs expire one year after they are created.

The ANGEL Learning Management System automatically creates a faculty member's Personal LOR the first time the Folder Icon is clicked in the Powerstrip.

Unfortunately, this is not currently a feature that we can control at the adminstration level to prevent.

my.UMDNJ Portal Maintenance Schedule
