Gorgon City: Love From The First Sound

Thanks God for the people I meet in my life. One close friend of mine has shared a music track with me. No need to say that the track was by some unknown guys called Gorgon City. And the track was so meaningful for me ("Real" feat Yasmin - watch below). That's how I've become addicted to this magic music.

After couple month spent waiting for the fresh tracks and mixes from Gorgon City, I've discovered they're gonna perform in London, UK. And my happiness was endless. I had my UK visa, bargained about vacation with my lady boss. So the luggage was packed, tickets purchased and my London adventure started.

At the day, I've arrived to Electric Brixton. What a nice place: poshy theatre, filled with energy and inspiration! The performance was awesome! All the crowd moving in the global wave. Sound was everywhere, in the each body cell...

At the moment Gorgon City is becoming more and more popular, so I'm proud having seen their show in Lo this year.

The HARDKISS first concert has teared me into pieces!

This Saturday, May 18 I've attended the first solo concert of an amazing Ukrainian group THE HARDKISS in Kyiv. Can't say the group is well known here but still it has own fans and we are really proud of having such musical product. For sure, they deserve worldwide fame (and it'll happen soon I hope).

Firstly, I must admit the longest queue I've ever seen - the colorful crowd has been feeding hungry mosquitoes (the summer is near, guys) and waiting to enter the 'Green Theater' club. And at last we're in: tasty cocktails, nice DJ set and positive characters around us have made the evening better.

After waiting only 1.5 hour (!) the loud mob welcomes 'dark army' of the queen - Julia Sanina. Fantastic visuals on the huge screen, magical sound effects and luminous heart on the vocalist's chest - all that have taken us to the mystical atmosphere of inspiring music.

During all the concert we've been singing most of THE HARDKISS songs (well, yes, people know lyrics by heart), jumping and putting hands in the air. The drive was impossible, the sound was beating in our ears and hearts. The group has presented the brand new music video 'In Love' and I can claim: everyone's fallen in love with it, as well as with the queen of the night. The front woman Julia Sanina's costumes and make-up were astonishing, her looks were enhancing the power of her voice and energy.

THE HARDKISS has given us all they've got! But the fans didn't want to let them go, screaming 'HARDKISS, HARDKISS, HARDKISS!' And again we're singing all together 'Make-Up'...

Oh, well, impressions are streaming! Thanks for the evening, for the inspiration, for THE HARDKISS contribution to Ukrainian show business. Now we know it is possible to add our national folk tunes in the alternative music and stay fresh.

Let's cheer up! What can be better than Beyoncé's music and video for such a case.

Today I am inviting you to inspire yourself by music video by Beyoncé performing "Work It Out". (C) 2002 SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

Yeah, that's a little bit old stuff, but Beyoncé is blissing out in it (and so am I every time watching it). The song was released on June 11, 2002, by Columbia Records as the lead single from the soundtrack album of the film Austin Powers in Goldmember, in which singer Beyoncé Knowles stars as Foxxy Cleopatra. "Work It Out" is an R&B song which incorporates elements of 1960s and 1970s funk and post-disco. The song's accompanying music video was shot and directed by Matthew Rolston. The video features Knowles playing Foxxy Cleopatra, and draws inspiration from several 1960's and 1970s motifs. The video was nominated at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan in the category Best Video from a Film. "Work It Out" has been parodied and covered on several live television programs, including American Idol and America's Best Dance Crew. Destroy History - Clean Kyiv For Euro 2012!

Hot news from the capital of Ukraine Kyiv. The city is almost ready for foreign visitors, much work is finished, the new image of historical places is updated! This "plastic surgery" will possibly kill an ancient soul of my lovely Kyiv.

Tears, tears, tears. If you've visited Andriyivskyy Descent before "reconstruction" - you are definitely lucky! But our children will not touch the legend, will not feel the smell of time...

Take a look at Andriyivsky Uzviz, one of the most famous historical streets in Ukraine. Who's done that? Which brain could born such an idea? What evil plans are waiting for Kyiv?

Thank you, Euro 2012! Without you we wouldn't have such European city!

Spring has come. At last. What can be better than snowy April! Yeah, that's the time to plan your vacations. The first wish - to appear in the warm exotic place. Better with the sea (or mountains?). Golden sand and turquoise waves, tender sun and gentle wind, silence and... silence... - that's my perfect vacation menu. The second wish - not to spend whole entire fortune for some days in "nirvana". I remember the place in Egypt can become the best shelter for city dwellers.

Nuweiba. That's our destination. It is a coastal town in the eastern part of Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, sandwiched between the Sinai mountains and the Gulf of Aqaba, and is located some 150 km north of Sharm el Sheikh, 465 km southeast from Cairo and 70 km south of the Israel–Egypt border separating Taba and Eilat.

Frankly, didn't really want to do anything except relaxing on the beach or near the pool, but finally I've tired myself by taking some pictures on the mobile phone camera. Let me show you some photos made by me during 1 week rest in this wonderful place.

Must See & Listen: Tina Karol - "Nizhno" ("Gently")

Can't be silent any more. That's the most touching and impressive song and video I've seen lately. The song is playing again and again in my headphones during some days. So I must share it with everybody.

Tina Karol has changed my mind about her couple of times. At first I was surprised by her participation in "New Wave" contest in Jurmala and amazing show (even with broken microphone!).

Then I was disappointed by her behavior - she had become "super star b*tch". But now after some of Tina's interviews about that period of her life I've understood the reason and author of all scandals around famous singer.

After her marriage and birth of a child Tina has started a new page in show business career. But still I didn't like most of her light-minded songs, because to my mind they were aimed at unthinking audience.

And at last I've found in Internet Tina Karol's new video (for the old composition but in new adaptation) "Nizhno" ("Gently")! That's the masterpiece! That's my girl! Someone can say the idea of the video is stolen, but who cares. The team of professionals has created wonderful product, what else do you need? (By the way, Tina is looking like Meg Ryan.

Crazy Bell-Ringers Have Brought French Spring to Kyiv (Photos)

My friends and me have decided to go to announced show "Crazy Bell-Ringers". But it was not so easy to make: transport couldn't move from the wave of people wanting to appear on Sofiya Square in the center of Kyiv. Though it was cold, many viewers were waiting for the start. Every meter on the square was occupied.

At last something started. Yeah, something. Nobody understood what is happening. Funny actors were dancing, screaming, drumming... But nobody from far away couldn't realize the idea of the acting.

"They had to do something with the sound, don't hear what they are saying", - grumbled a woman.

"Can't see anything, they could install these scenes upper", - was resenting someone.

"I feel they need more light, what is it?" - mumbled a man.

But 5 minutes later everybody got what the one wanted: sound, air-show, lights and fire! Magic orchestra consisting of fairy-tale characters was playing spellbinding lullaby on the height of 40 meters. Flashing lights, incredible bell-flower construction, fire show - everything has made the crowd silent. Till the next act, sure... Acrobats has surprised with the courage and professionalism.

Astonishing final of the show. The crowd is applauding and starting to move from the Sofiya Square. Streets-veins were filled with people discussing this amazing evening.

Homeless Dogs Are Being Killed in Donetsk For Euro 2012!

More news about preparations to Euro 2012 in Ukraine. Donetsk was cleaned from homeless dogs. It is normal practice for our country. At first they are frightening people: street dogs are sick, aggressive, dangerous - we have to clean our city! And now it's done. Horrible work, evil killers!

Euro 2012 Will Disgrace Ukraine

Ok, so we are hosting the famous football cup Euro 2012.
On the one hand it's wonderful: many tourists, events, much money will enter Ukraine. Plus our government started to move in different areas. Updates, restructuring, PR.
But on the other hand Euro 2012 can disgrace our country, because all the movement seems to be a king of theater or well planned show. In real guests of Kyiv will face many problems.

Let's try to look at our life trough eyes of European visitor. High prices for foreigners, more over there are many people willing to clean pockets of "rich" tourists. Hotels, hostels, apartments become more expensive 10 times (without improving conditions and services).
Taxi? I've heard they'd obliged drivers to install counters in all cars. Will it help? Foxy driver can make a tour for you around Kyiv and you'll pay for 100 km instead of 30 km for example.
I am sure Ukrainians are very hospitable nation, but it doesn't apply services area. Transport, shops and supermarkets, restaurants and cafes services are far from European level. Employees have to learn languages and different subjects needed for relations with customers. Because at the time boorishness, rudeness and disrespect are normal in our society.
But first of all people have to change their outlook and attitude! Otherwise Ukraine will never be the part of Europe and civilized world.

Яке Євро-2012! В транспорті о 21 (!) годині "контролери" прискіпуються до іноземця, який щойно зайшов у тролейбус, бо нема квитка! А кондуктор є? А до водія дійти треба? А посвідчення "контролер" надав?
Ну от кому кричати? Куди скаржитися? І воно ж по-людськи себе не вміє поводити! Ані пари слів англійською! Якби була присутня - точно б стукнула!

Выплыла подробность: то быдло (простите) доковырялось, что молодой человек - армянин! Он говорит - египтянин! Нет, чего ты выпендриваешься по-английски, все ты понимаешь по-русски...
Спасибо пассажирке - заступилась, ругалась, закомпостировала талончик и отдала "зайцу". Это еще повезло, что был небезразличный человек!
Так "кАнтрАлЬОры" с ним рядом на остановке стояли, потом вместе зашли! Даже милицию подтянули, но все та же девушка объяснила ситуацию, и стражи порядка отшили контролеров-халтурщиков. Дай Бог им здоровья!

Прокинулась і пам'ятала сон. Цікавий і захопливий, неймовірно магічний. Заплющити б очі і знов пірнути у марево. Схопити б його за вогняного хвоста!
Де блокнот і ручка? Вийде феєричний сюжет! А що ж писати? Ти де? Ой, як там? Ну...
Знову втекла сенсаційна ідея для книги... Але буде знову ніч. Подушка. Сон.
Підсвідомість надсилає нам конкретні вказівки, дороговкази. Головне - вчасно прислухатися, розшифрувати паролі, не схибити!

Протягом останніх двох десятиліть українське книговидання переживало надзвичайно тяжкі часи, які почалися 1990 року, коли на проголошення Україною державного суверенітету Росія відповіла скороченням поставок паперу як стратегічної сировини. Із того часу не припиняються спроби творчої та видавничої еліти звернути увагу законотворців на проблеми української книги: недосконалою лишається законодавча база щодо пільг на видання україномовної літератури. Щоправда, в умовах демократизації держави видавці звільняються від цензури та партійного контролю, зникає монополія, спричиняючи активне зростання кількості видавництв різних форм власності.

Після розпаду Радянського Союзу вітчизняні видавці наполегливо намагалися втримати свої позиції на ринку (через нестабільне та здебільшого несприятливе економічне становище в Україні, відсутність ефективної державної політики щодо видавничо-поліграфічного комплексу), звикаючи до самостійності в ринкових умовах і переймаючи досвід іноземних колег.

Пошук оптимальних форм організації видань та формування читацького попиту актуалізує питання вивчення ефективності книжкових серій і досі.

Найбільш прогресивні та підприємливі українські видавці, опанувавши закордонні тенденції, використали практику створення книжкових серій і багато в чому саме цей прийом допоміг їм утриматися на поверхні в проблемні для видавничо-поліграфічної галузі часи. Найбільшим успіхом користуються саме серії, що прискіпливо продумані, підготовані та видані професіоналами. Варто зазначити, що перше покоління українських видавців книжкових серій діяло методом спроб і помилок, зважаючи на відсутність достатньої кількості порад щодо особливостей роботи над цим видом видань у науковій фаховій літературі.

Необхідність дослідження книжкових серій, безумовно, продовжує бути актуальною. Це зумовлено загальною ситуацією в бібліотеках та на книжковому ринку України: літератури з видавничо-поліграфічної справи та редагування досить мало, переважна її більшість підготована та надрукована в Росії. Незадовільним є те, що велика частка літератури випущена ще за часів СРСР, а вона, частіше за все, містить застарілу інформацію, котру недоречно застосовувати в сучасних умовах.

Також обрана тема набуває актуальності з огляду на недостатнє висвітлення особливостей підготовки та видання книжкових серій в Україні, фрагментарність та розмитість практичних порад і рекомендацій редакторам-видавцям щодо роботи над цим специфічним видом видань, відсутність систематизованого підходу до процесу створення серії як масштабного продукту. А у контексті активного розвитку українського книговидання та видавничої галузі взагалі гостро постає необхідність ширшого та глибшого висвітлення саме цієї теми, що викликано відсутністю масиву фахової літератури з конкретного питання. Звісно, науковці не обходять увагою серії, але досліджують їх лише у комплексі з іншими видами видань. Про це свідчать праці таких авторів як: Ю. Ф. Майсурадзе, А. Е. Мільчина, М. С. Тимошика – вони містять загальні поради щодо видавничої справи та редагування, не наголошуючи на особливостях підходу до розробки книжкових серій та, певно, недооцінюючи важливість серійності загалом як однієї з провідних тенденцій сьогодення.

Саме тому постала необхідність детального аналізу серійних видань як специфічного явища, популярного серед споживачів та вигідного для видавців, на сучасному книжковому ринку, зокрема України, і, відповідно до визначених особливостей, розроблення чіткої, послідовної та поетапної системи рекомендацій студентам і практикуючим редакторам-видавцям щодо створення та реалізації вдалих довготермінових проектів книжкових серій.

У наступних публікаціях буде аргументована доцільність заповнення вищезгаданої інформаційної лакуни та злободенність даної теми, розглядатимуться відмінності між підходами до підготовки серійних та інших видів видань, досліджуватимуться недоліки та позитивні сторони наявних книжкових серій.

Мета дослідження – детально вивчити принципи, особливості розробки та видання книжкових серій в Україні через дослідження специфіки даного виду видань, окреслити та конкретизувати сукупність необхідних дій для подальшого використання створеного алгоритму у практиці вітчизняними редакторами-видавцями, поглибити наукові пізнання з даного питання та привернути до нього увагу дослідників.

Досягнення поставленої мети передбачає послідовне розв’язання наступних завдань:

– з’ясувати та узгодити значення ключових термінів із зазначеної проблеми;

– висвітлити характерні ознаки серійних видань;

– дослідити передумови появи, історію та сучасний стан серійних видань в Україні;

– розглянути головні переваги книжкових серій для видавців та читачів над іншими видами видань, довести ефективність та вигідність випуску серій на сучасному українському книжковому ринку;

– оглянути популярні українські книжкові серії;

– здійснити порівняльний аналіз комплексу цікавих та яскравих серій (різних за тематикою, читацькою аудиторією тощо) українських видавництв;

– визначити необхідні дії редактора у процесі розробки та видання серійних видань;

– узагальнити та доповнити поради фахівців щодо видання книжкових серій;

– вивести шаблонний алгоритм дій редактора-видавця.

Теоретико-методологічну основу дослідження становлять закони та державні стандарти України, дані довідкових, енциклопедичних видань, спеціалізовані та популярні періодичні видання, електронні видання, аналітичні матеріали, праці із загальних питань книгознавства, теорії та практики видавничої справи та редагування зарубіжних і українських авторів.

Наукова новизна роботи полягає в наступному:

– простежено розвиток серійних видань в незалежній Україні та розкрито передумови їх популярності;

– серійність книжкових видань розглядається як одна з провідних тенденцій та сучасних технологій залучення покупця на даному етапі розвитку українського ринку;

– доведено ефективність випуску серійних видань порівняно з несерійними;

– систематизовано рекомендації щодо підготовки та видання книжкових серій;

– зроблено спробу виведення універсального алгоритму дій видавця під час створення серійного видання.

Практичне значення одержаних результатів полягає в тому, що опрацьований матеріал може бути використано при читанні курсів «Видавництво в ринкових умовах», «Вступ до спеціальності», «Історія видавничої справи», «Підготовка видання», «Редакторський аналіз та підготовка видання», подальшому дослідженні питань підготовки серійних видань, при викладанні загальних і спеціальних курсів із видавничої справи та редагування. Отримані результати, висновки можуть бути корисними для редакторів-початківців та сучасних видавців.
