I was misrepresented, in my opinion. A few things for anyone interested
1) My views on Israel do not "match up completely with Paul’s." I
certainly didn't ever say that, and I didn't ever mean to imply it. 2) I do not think the Jewish state "might as well be in Wyoming," or Africa for that matter.
The following sentence is hard to understand, and I'm not sure exactly what Mr. Cohen is saying:
"He thinks foreign aid is inefficient and easily lost in bureaucracy,
and he understood when Paul allegedly said Israel should be given to the
Palestinians when a viable Jewish state could be implemented anywhere
other than the “hornets’ nest” of the Middle East, even in the United
States or Africa he said." I actually remember saying that the
alleged comments made by Dr. Paul were very disturbing, but I ventured a
possible explanation that might make them more understandable. Allow me a chance
to represent myself: I support the right of Israel to exist, and I
support the legitimacy of Israel's claim to it's current borders. I would cut off all foreign aid, and though it is difficult for me personally, that includes aid to Israel. (In addition, I have lost 40 pounds since that picture was taken. Just to set the record straight.)

I would note that KAP is not an internship, but an actual year-long job. They pay me a salary and everything. It's an awesome program if you know what you want out of it, but it's not just a summer gig.

Good question. While I am not against the gathering of intelligence per se, I am against the illegal activities the CIA commits. It has become apparent that those illegal activities (assassinations, coups, etc.) are products of the CIA's lack of oversight. The FBI, while its hands are not entirely clean, is at least more open and subject to oversight. Intelligence gathering on actual threats is absolutely within the confines of legitimate government action; not coups, not assassinations, and not terrorist plots.

The CIA gets into some scary stuff. I think I agree with you, but how should the nation gather intelligence?

I can understand the desire for a unified intelligence agency, rather than having intelligence divided along the departments of Defense, Treasury, State, etc... The CIA hasn't really solved that problem, but I wonder if it's not a bad idea to come up with some sort of additional intelligence reform.

This is definitely not an area I know much about -- thanks for the post, Andrew!

It makes absolutely no sense for a libertarian to applaud this legislation as a step in the right direction.

The only rational libertarian approach is to advocate for a total repeal of all marriage legislation. The very origin of marriage laws in this country are based on the restriction of rights (miscegenation), and are nothing more than a co-opting of what had been a religious process...essentially making any marriage legislation a violation of the Establishment Clause.

But I understand it's hard for people to accept this idea when they've already paid the gov't for their "license" to get married; no one wants to be the only dunce in the room. Many libertarians have so "traditionalized" marriage in their brain, they not only have failed to see this instinctively, they struggle to understand a country where we don't get a license and register our relationships before the government.
