]]> http://underthesunevents.org/poppy-walk-5k-run-results-are-now-posted/feed/ 0 Gunbarrel 25 Results now Posted! http://underthesunevents.org/gunbarrel-25-results-now-posted/ http://underthesunevents.org/gunbarrel-25-results-now-posted/#comments Mon, 09 Apr 2012 22:06:39 +0000 admin http://underthesunevents.org/?p=1106 Saturday, April 7, was the 9th running of the Gunbarrel 25, hosted by Glen Plake, at Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe.  Skiers, snowboards and telemarkers joined Glen on the mountain and were supposed to do laps on the Gunbarrel run but low snow conditions forced organizers to move the course over to the World Cup run.  The first goal: be the first to finish 25 laps on the mogul-covered run.  The second goal: complete the most laps within the six hour time limit.

Participants, ranging in ages from 7 to 68,  flew up and down the mountain all day long and posted some very impressive times.  Tyler Bradford, age 28, completed his first 25 laps in 2:46:27.5!  He finished the day completing 52 laps before his six-hour time limit ran out!  Over 100 of the 141 competitors completed at least 25 laps.

Oroville 5K River Run

The Oroville City Council is proud to present the Oroville 5K River Run/Walk that will happen on Saturday, May 19, 2012 which is the opening day of Oroville’s Farmers Market. The Saturday Farmers Market has been a favorite gathering place for locals for the past several years displaying and providing fresh local produce, fruit, flowers and other locally produced items.

 A healthy living push is being made by the market this year and the opportunity to participate in a run/walk that takes people from the Historic State Theatre through downtown up the levee with cool breezes, spring salmon jumping in the beautiful Feather River and passing historic homes back to the market area. Besides the traditional Farmers Market activities additional items are planned for this special day which will include health and exercise exhibits, food cooking and sampling. Mark your calendar for both the opening day of Oroville’s Farmers Market and the 5k run/walk, both events will provide a great “kick” to a healthier late spring early summer.

T-Shirts

Unisex cotton shirts are guaranteed in the requested size for each registration received by 5/5/12. Upgrade to a unisex technical running shirt (moisture wicking) for an additional $10.  Technical upgrades are only available through the early registration deadline (5/5).  Technical shirts will available for sale at packet pickup.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be available on race morning from 7:00 – 7:45 am at the State Theatre, 1489 Myers Street in Downtown Oroville.  Registration will be available at this time.

Race Check-in

Race-day packet pickup and registration will be open at 7:00 AM and will close promptly at 7:45 AM.

Start Times

5K starts at 8:00

The Oroville River Run 5K will start near the State Theater in Downtown Oroville, at the corner of Myers St and Robinson St.

Course Description

The 5K will take runners and walkers from the Historic State Theatre through downtown up the levee with cool breezes, spring salmon jumping in the beautiful Feather River and passing historic homes back to the Farmer’s Market area.

Be sure to spend some time after your run to browse the fresh and local produce at the Oroville Farmer’s Market.

Awards

The 5K Awards Ceremony will be held near the finish line at approximately 9:00 AM.  Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in 10-year age groups.

If you haven’t already,
the last day for Registration is
Friday, March 2 at Packet Pickup!
Online registration is
available through Tuesday, 2/28 at midnight!  That’s soon!  Wait until Thursday
and you’ll fork out more cash so Hurry UP!

There is NO race day registration!

 

Packet pickup will be Thursday,
March 1 and Friday, March 2 from 10 am to 8 pm at Fleet Feet, 241 Main St.,
Downtown Chico. Friday is the last day for registration! Reduce race morning
stress by picking up your chip (yes, BC12 is chip timed by our friends Capital
Road Race Management) and packet on Thursday or Friday.Yes, you may pick up your
friend’s packet.

 

Extra technical shirts and hats
will be available for purchase for $15 at packet pickup while supplies
last. Quantities will be limited.**Please note….the deadline
for ordering shirts was February 18. Everyone who registered after February 18
will receive a technical hat (even if you requested a shirt).

 

As always, we will provide plenty of post race food
for BC runners.  Please remind your friends and family that the food area is
for participants only.

 

New course maps of the half marathon  and 5K are here.

 

NO ipods, dogs, strollers or pacers/pace bikes are
allowed on the course.

 

Please check your race packet to see if you are a
GOLD envelope prize winner! A list of prizes will be at packet pick up! You
could be a lucky winner…Fleet Feet Chico is hosting the ‘official
sweat-check’ center for the Bidwell Classic. You may check in your extra gear at
their tent beginning at 8 a.m., located next to the main food area.

There are still volunteer
positions open. It’s the help of the community that makes the Bidwell Classic
such a great event. We have a variety of jobs available. Email us  for more information – or join us for a pizza night
at Mountain Mike’s Pizza on 5th Street on Tuesday, February 28 at 6 p.m. to get
signed up.
There is a FREE Kids Run for
children 10 and under at 11 am at the baseball field. Distances are appropriate
for the age groups. Registration for the kids run will be available at packet
pickup on Friday from 10 am to 8 pm at Fleet Feet, 241 Main St., Downtown Chico,
as well as at the baseball field at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
The Bidwell Classic is a rain or shine
