Happy Birthday Underspray!

Underspray.com is officially 1 year old! That's right, 12 months have whizzed by since I launched the site last year. I'm very proud to say I've turned an idea into reality and the site continues to grow and gather momentum and support from around the globe and for that I am truly grateful. Underspray.com is not for profit and came about from my love of art and a desire to find out more about some of my favourite artists and what makes them tick. It's grown from there in unexpected and exciting directions due to the way each artist featured nominates the next interviewee, and so on. Some of the interviews are now 10th generation and are still going strong. The site now features the work of almost 100 creative people from all over the world, they all have one thing in common ...

All back to normal here at Underspray headquarters and with the bulk of our data salvaged the gods must have been smiling upon us. Or something. Anyway, it's back to business and we have a cracking update to share with you this month. Five new creative types join the Underspray family this time around and once more we have been delighted by the standard of work. Variety is the spice as far as we are concerned and once more we have it by the bucket load. Street art, photomanipulation, recycled materials and clean designs sit side by side in this update. My recent cyber adventures have seen stopovers in the UK, USA, Spain and Singapore I have delved into the artists deepest and darkest thoughts. And asked questions about soup. Theres also some new writing in the articles section which you really must check out and if anyone would like to contribute please mail me. Finally I have a bucket load of stickers to give away and the first 25 emails I receive get the goods, don't forget to include your postal address. The update that nearly wasn't!

As I sat there, beer in hand, enjoying a King Prawn Jalfrezi I had this nagging feeling that I had forgotten to do something that I was supposed to do today. Quite what it was I wasn't sure, but it was definitely today. Two hours frantic coding and much Photoshopping later I am proud to bring you the latest update. Northern Ireland, Brazil and the USA are my stopovers this time around and yet again, the quality of the work is inspiring. The site continues to grow and I love it more than ever, its so satisfying to constantly discover new artists and styles and rummage around in their heads for a while. There are now over 70 featured artists on the site, I intend to do something special for the 100th interview, and include some of my favourites images and interviews in a 'best of'. I'd like you to get involved too, so please let me know what your favourite bits are so far. Now, where did I put that naan bread....

Hey, this months castaways have been washed ashore on a wave of mutilation from all over the world including Wales, Sweden, USA and Canada. Oh my golly, once more i'm amazed at the quality of the artists, i've been tired out rushing to finish this update so i'll keep it short. Mr. Burrows.

I am reliably informed by my splendid website monitoring software that Underspray.com has now recieved over 1 million hits since its launch back in December 2006. Is this cause for celebration? Probably. Do i actually know what a hit is? No. Anyway, we've cracked open the Veuve Clicquot here at Underspray headquarters and are celebrating wildly! Here's to everyone who's been so kind to do an interview for us, left a comment, or simply checks out the site from time to time. test Enough idle banter, on to the update. Five new superstars have been inducted into the Underspray hall of fame this time around and i've asked them all for handprints. We've had stopovers in Finland, Spain and the UK in the last two weeks and have harvested some of the freshest talent around for your viewing pleasure. This visual smorgasbord includes vector graphics and fruit related phobias, photoshop wizardry, cardboard boxes, skateboards and some great badges. Here we go again, two more weeks pass by and with impressive efficiency we drop another update for your viewing pleasure. I am pleased to welcome five new artists to the Underspray family, this time around we travel to Brazil, USA, Singapore and the UK to delve into the minds of these fine folk. This update provides another fresh display of artistic talents which includes graffiti, vinyl toys, illustration and some particularly distrurbing photo manipulation directly from the lower pits of hell!

"It is with great sadness that I am forced to announce the permanent closure of Underspray.com. The rising cost of bandwidth, my upcoming court case and my growing involvement in the Judeans People's Front mean I no longer have the time or means to run the site. Therefore this is the last of the site updates." Lies and deceipt! And my twisted sense of humour. Bandwidth is not a problem, there is no court case and the JPF was a Monty Python reference. To everyone who reacted to this mornings site update you have my sincere apologies, I simply couldn't resist. I was quickly in receipt of numerous emails, offers of help and kind words. Which made me feel even more guilty as I laughed myself silly. To those of you that sussed me out straight away, well done. To the others, got ya!! Just two weeks since the last update and boy have I been busy! Five new artists have joined the underspray family bringing with them a healthy dose of diversity which we have come to love so much. This update sees us with stopovers in Italy, USA, UK and Singapore hooking up with some great new artists and we also have a new written piece for the articles section. Submissions to the articles section are always welcome so grab and pen and write something art related.
