| Dear Understand Media Reader, I'm pleased to announce the release of the second edition of my book, Practical Media Literacy: An essential guide to the critical thinking skills for our digital world. I created this book for anyone wanting to learn about media literacy. This second edition took two years of work, in addition to the four years of research and ten years of classroom experience for the first book. Needless to say, I'm proud of the result. The book is divided into easy-to-digest sections and assumes no prior knowledge of media literacy. The first half includes basic concepts of media literacy, and the second half contains detailed explorations of a variety of different media, along with dozens of activities that build upon and help solidify the basic concepts.
