Can't find your documents anymore? A folder with photos is gone?

The problem of lost or mistakenly deleted files is quite common. Even if you backup your most important files frequently, there's always a chance that something happens right before the next backup. Home computers are often shared with other family members, so some files may be deleted simply as a matter of misunderstanding.
For example, your son may think that you have already those photos and videos from your last vacation burned to a CD. So, he erases the photos and videos to free some space for a new game...

Is there a way to recover deleted files?

Yes. This operation is known as undelete, or unerase. Many years ago, before the introduction of Windows 95 with its Recycle Bin, small command-line utilities named 'undelete' or 'unerase' were supplied with operating systems to make possible recovering of mistakenly removed files. The undelete feature was also built into File Manager of earlier versions of Windows. In Windows 3.1, if you removed a file by mistake, you could choose to recover it by clicking the corresponding option in File Manager.

At this point, you may wonder: why those small utilities aren't there in the modern versions of Windows?

The Recycle Bin offers far better way to deal with removed files. It's safe and user friendly. You don't need to type commands with mysterious keys and switches anymore. Just click your Recycle Bin and recover files, if you need to do so.

Starting with Windows 95, files are not really deleted. Instead they are put into a special folder and are preserved there for a given period of time. Settings of the Recycle Bin can be adjusted by the user, including the general capacity and the preservation time. Defaults are pretty safe: files are stored for several weeks, and the general capacity of the Recycle Bin is around 10% of your hard disk's space. When the time is over, files are finally deleted and can't be recovered. Well, if you didn't care about the deleted files for several weeks, most probably you don't need them at all. It's reasonable.

Convenient?

In some ways, yes. However, you shouldn't forget that the files aren't deleted if they are put into the Recycle Bin. No space is freed. If it's space that you need right now, you should empty your Recycle Bin, or shouldn't use it at all.

Windows offers an alternative way to delete files. You can press a "Shift" key (left or right, it doesn't matter) on your keyboard while deleting to avoid putting the file into the Recycle Bin. Thus the space occupied by the file is freed immediately.

But with this method, you are risking to wipe out important files. This operation can't be undone. At least, not with the usual recovery from the Recycle Bin.

That's where you may need a recovery tool, like Advanced NTFS Recovery. This easy to use utility is able to scan your hard disk for lost and deleted files. If the required files can be recovered, the program will recover them, even if the file system itself is damaged. The program takes advantage of all NTFS features (if you are still using FAT, it's no problem, as Advanced NTFS Recovery can deal with different file systems; but you may consider upgrading to NTFS), and it can even access files in the 'raw' mode. Using its preview feature, you can see content of deleted files even without recovering them, which allows to estimate chances.

The worst part of it is that, once a file is deleted, your system can overwrite it any time. This can't happen if the file is in the Recycle Bin, but once the Recycle Bin is emptied, a new file can be written in the same area any moment. You can't control the process. You can't tell the system which of the deleted files are more important for you than the rest.

So, let's consider the above example with a son wanting to install a new game.

If you catch him right after he deletes your pictures, there are very good chances that you will be able to restore all your photos and videos. However, if he has already managed to install his game, some of the valued files (if not all) may be overwritten. If so, they can't be recovered anymore.

But don't jump to quick conclusions. File system follows its own rules when writing data, so you may find that although there's virtually no space left on your hard disk, the deleted files are still recoverable. Don't hesitate to perform a scan. Advanced NTFS Recovery doesn't write any data while scanning for lost files, so there is no danger of accidental overwriting.

Well, and if you don't have recovery tools on your computer yet? Before using a program you need to install it, which means that program files should be written to your hard disk. Won't they overwrite your valuable files?

The answer is... they may. Every single file, even a small one, can damage deleted files. It is impossible to say what files will be overwritten. Most important? Completely unimportant?

At this point, it is clear that if you want to restore deleted files, you should allow the system to write as few files as possible. If you can prevent the system from writing at all, chances to recover files are about 100%!

Yes. If you avoid saving files on the partition where the deleted files were, you may be able to restore every single file. No magic, just a bit of good programming.

But then, what about installing the program? Is there a possibility to install it safely, without damaging the files you need to restore?

Even if your computer has only one hard disk, there can be several logical drives. It's quite a common practice to create at least two logical drives: C and D. If that's the case with your computer and if you have lost files only on one of the drives, you can with no worry install Advanced NFTS Recovery onto another drive. The deleted files will remain absolutely safe.

However, there may be other situations. For example, what if your computer has only one logical drive? Or if you don't remember where exactly the files to restore were?

In such circumstances you may install the program onto removable or external media. Your USB memory stick or external hard drive are ideal solutions.

The most important thing to remember when you want to recover deleted files is the following: avoid using the drive where you lost files. Don't save anything there. Shut down programs that need to save something from time to time (for example, Microsoft Word creates a backup copy every 10 minutes), but be careful, as some programs save different kinds of files when shutting down. And, of course, don't panic. Your nerves are more important than any documents, even if it doesn't seem so in the moment.

Use of DIY Data Recovery Software by Amateurs Carries its Own Risk

Data recovery and effective data backup procedures are the need of the hour. The data recovery market is booming now like never before because the value of data and the cost of losing data are too high.

DIY Data Recovery Software

If you have lost your valuable data and you want to recover it, you have two options - you can either opt for professional data recovery service or you can choose DIY data recovery software. Professional data recovery service usually guarantees successful results and consequently is a much safer data recovery option than DIY data recovery software.

Data recovery companies use specialised tools, techniques, and infrastructure to ensure that data recovery is successful. However, the specialised nature of this service makes the service extremely expensive. The field of data recovery is still in its nascent stage. As a result, there are very few companies that are truly specialised in this field and very less manual talent is available. Add to this the infrastructure costs of data recovery and what you have is an exorbitant bill that you will have to pay at the end of the data recovery process.

To avoid these high costs, most people tend to choose DIY data recovery software. DIY data recovery software is based on a pre-programmed code. This code attempts to incorporate solutions for all the common data recovery problems faced by the user. The software works by providing the user with multiple options during the data recovery process. The user is supposed to choose the option that best describes the data recovery problem.

Using DIY Data Recovery Software by Amateurs - Is it Worth it?

While using DIY data recovery is a cheap option, it may not always be the best one. As mentioned earlier, DIY data recovery software works by giving the user many options to choose from. The user needs to select the correct option each time the software prompts for description of the problem. If the user is not very familiar with the technical jargon used by the software, the user is bound to select an incorrect option.

If the user selects an incorrect option, it is highly likely that the data loss problem will become more severe. Therefore, using DIY data recovery software can convert a minor data loss problem into a major one. If your data is very valuable, the risk is not worth it.

In addition, no two data loss incidents can be the same. For example, while you may be encountering a data loss problem because of firmware corruption, it may or may not be accompanied by an electrical failure. It is not possible for any pre-programmed software to take into account all the data loss incidents and incorporate that within the program.

As amateur users may not be very knowledgeable about computers or electronic equipment in general, it is highly likely that they will not be able to identify the nature of the data loss problem. Therefore, they might think that a data loss problem is software-related while actually it might be hardware-related.

While DIY data recovery software may work for some of the software-related problems, they are rendered useless when you try to use them for hardware-related data loss issues. If an amateur user encountering a data loss problem due to hardware errors buys a data recovery software, he or she is bound to spend more money on data recovery because not only would the software not work for the problem but it may also aggravate the data loss situation even further. Therefore, the cost of professional data recovery will become more expensive than what it would have been initially.

Is There a Risk of Your Lost Data Being Inadvertently Overwritten upon?

It is not uncommon to hear of incidents wherein the users lose their data forever after using DIY data recovery software. This happens when the data recovery software overwrites on the existing data while attempting to recover the lost data. When the overwriting occurs repeatedly, the data is lost forever. Therefore, the user has to bear not only the cost of data recovery but also the cost of recreating the entire data. The latter may not always be possible because you may or may not have the adequate resources to recreate the data all over again.

Backing Up Your Data - Do's and Don't and How To's

We all know we're supposed to back up data. Sometimes we might actually do so. Backing up your data is important, and yet it is often a neglected part of using computers. Data can be lost rather easily. Human error, a virus, or simply a computer crash can wipe out important documents, photos, contact lists and more.

Backing up your data is important to everyone, not just businesses. Imagine all those photos you took of your children growing up, now sitting on your hard drive. What about your video and music collection? Perhaps you've heard about entire collections of documents lost from your friends' or coworkers' computers. The stories are haunting. All those years of searching and collecting of that data, and it can be wiped out in an instant. Could you ever replace all that information?

Hard Drives Are Not Always Safe

The truth is that hard drives don't live forever. Even if you've never had an incident with a virus during the life of an existing hard drive, it will eventually wear out. Your hard drives are also always vulnerable to viruses, or from a power surge, which can also cause them to fail. You may try to use data recovery programs, but prevention is always better than hoping your data will be able to be recovered.

When hard drives fail, it might be difficult to replace all that information. If you use your computer for a business, it is even more important, as that could be hundreds of thousands of dollars of information that you are risking by not backing up your hard drives. Depending on your hard drives and virus protection alone is very risky when you have so much that you are responsible for.

How Often Should You Back Up Data?

This question is often debated. Some suggest every day, or a week, others suggest every time they upload anything new. Some are comfortable with simply doing it once a month.

How often you choose to back up your data is up to you. A good rule of thumb is to back up your data as often as you have new and important data to back up. For example, businesses that depend on contact data management programs and update important information daily might find it better to back up every day at the end of the day -- of just that data. Other documents and folders that are not updated quite as often can possibly be updated once a week or once a month.

It might completely depend on the type of data you want to back up. It is easy enough to set up a routine. Back up important data every day or week regularly and get into the habit of doing so. You can set your computer to remind you of when you need to back up. There are also programs that will do your back ups for you when you want it to. There's more information on these programs later in this article.

What Data To Back Up

It is true; you don't always need to back up everything on your computer. What you should decide now is what is important to you to save. Here's a list of things you should consider backing up.

Family photos

Films

Music

Stories and documents

Bookmarks

Address book (emails and addresses of families and friends or business clients)

To do lists

Presentations

Old emails

Work files and folders

Games

There might be many more types of files you want to save. You should go through your computer and think about any information you would not want to lose if your hard drive should fail.

How To Back Up Your Data

It is now easier than ever to back up your data. It all starts with knowing what data you want to save, and keeping it in centralized locations on your PC. If you know what to save, you know exactly what to do and to work it into a routine. Learn where your data is.

The next step is selecting what data you want to save and when. Perhaps you have documents that you wrote a year ago, but at the moment you don't want to use and yet you want to keep them anyway. Obviously such files only need to be stored once in your chosen locations. By separating your documents into when you need to save them, you'll find it easier to do back ups. It'll also take a lot less time to do a back up on just items that were updated recently, not all your files all the time.

Once you have your files separated, there's a couple of ways to back up your data. There's also a way to back up your hard drive so if it should ever fail, you won't have to remember all the programs you had and having to reinstall them again. We'll get to that in a minute.

Doing It Yourself

Here's the old reliable way of doing data recovery. You could back up your data on burned disks, and it is a good idea, but a disk can be scratched or lost. It's a good idea to utilize burning CDs with your information, but you should also have additional copies in other areas. If you burn a disk with important information, do yourself a favor and burn two copies, keeping the second one at a different location, like a safety deposit box.

Another way to do this is to get a flash drive. An additional external drive that you can store your files on. It acts as an additional hard drive. You could regularly back up your data files on these flash drives.

Both of these storage methods are rather inexpensive over time. A flash drive could cost $200 or so but is worth it for all the years it will save your data for you. CDs cost only $1 - $3 each depending on the type, and a CD burner costs as little as $50.

While using them is highly recommended, it is often the hardest habit to get into, even when you devote yourself to doing it regularly. It is easy to forget to back up your drives like this. If you don’t trust yourself to do this regularly, there's another method of backing up your files.

Internet Based Data Storage

There are companies now that will help you store your data for you.

Google Docs (http://docs.google.com/) does provide storage of your files. This would be for your Word, Excel and other documents. You can store and share your files online. Many people like it and use it for work documents. You still have to manually upload the documents every time though.

Another useful tool is Xdrive (http://www.xdrive.com/), which offers 5 GB of storage space for free. Their download also features a way to automatically back up your selected files as you need. Need more space? They offer 50 GB of storage for a fee.

Yet another utility, Mozy (http://mozy.com/) offers 2 GB free, and for a small monthly fee you get additional storage. They offer both home and professional versions of their services.

Ghost (http://www.symantec.com/themes/ghost/index.jsp), provided by Symantec, not only backs up your data, but also your entire hard drive. If your hard drive is ever wiped out, you have a Ghost to restore an exact copy of the last backup made. It'll store your software and files exactly as you had it before. It also constantly updates itself when you want it to.

Recommendations

To completely cover your hard drive, here's the recommended steps:

1. Section off files you don't need all the time, and perhaps those files you don't really access at all and store those files on burned CDs or flash drives, making duplicate sets, one for the office and one for off site. Replace them with updated versions with additional "no need" files once every two months or so.

2. Set files aside that you use every day, and set a system like Xdrive or Mozy to download in the evening when you sleep to store your data.

3. If you don't run a lot of software, or you have all your disks, or you wouldn't miss a lot of the software that you have there isn't much more to be done. However, if you do, and want to prevent having to re-install all those programs, and have an extra data back up feature, go ahead and get a program like Ghost, programmed to update at least once a month.

Data Loss and Data Recovery

All computers are powered by a tiny silicon processor that carries millions of transistors too small to be seen with naked human eyes. The unique feature of the processor is that it can combine the power of the transistors to carry out a huge amount of calculations per second. This is what gives computers their incomparable computing power. Digital devices run a variety of software to harness this power and are able to surpass humans and mechanical devices in terms of performance and quality of work done.

Computers generate a large amount of data during their routine operations. To keep this data safe and sound even after the machine has been switched off, a number of data-storage devices have been invented. These differ widely in storage capacity, shape and size as well as price. Their capacity ranges from a mere 1.2 MB of the now-almost-extinct floppy diskette to an enormous 500 GB of a portable hard drive.

These storage devices use different technologies to store data. The optical disks, as the name states, use a laser to read and write data, while hard disks use an electro-magnet mounted over their head. The new-fangled USB drives use flash memory and electric charge to perform their storage functions. All these storage devices, though very useful in day-to-day computer work, have one thing in common – they can lose all their data abruptly and leave the user in the lurch. This data loss can occur due to a variety of reasons.

Hardware errors are quite common. These relate to defects and malfunction of the physical surface and components of the storage media. Hard drives are quite delicate devices that are susceptible to impact trauma. The most serious error that can occur to them is a head crash. Water and fire damage can also result in serious cases of data loss.

Optical disks may lose data due to corruption of their exposed recording surface. Then there are software causes. These relate to data loss due to some problem with the software programs and actual user data. The most common software errors are accidental deletion of a file by the user, accidental reformatting of the storage media and a virus attack.

Data loss for any reason is a serious business. It can lead to tremendous losses and financial setbacks for companies. For individuals, loss of critical files may result in a lot of inconvenience and hand-wringing. The moment someone’s data gets lost, the first priority is to get it back as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the case, the cost and time involved in recovering data may range from negligible to phenomenal.

For data loss due to software causes, Do It Yourself (DIY) recovery software is a good option. There are many companies that sell these packages through their websites. You have to pay online using a credit card and download the software to your computer hard disk. DIY recovery is ideal for cases such as accidental deletion of files, file corruption and even reformatting of the storage media. The only danger in this is that if you are unlucky, the software files may get downloaded exactly on the same spot of the hard disk where your missing files have been residing. This will result in overwriting and may lead to permanent loss of the missing data.

Getting data recovered professionally is the only option in cases of data loss due to hardware causes and serious software errors. The professional recovery companies use specialized equipment and tailor-made file-extraction software to recover your data. They have a team of technically qualified and experienced engineers who extract the files carefully using a variety of techniques.

The most important asset these companies have is what is called a clean room. This is a small space enclosed from all sides in which the air is continuously recycled through powerful filters, removing all air-borne contaminants, even microscopic ones such as skin flakes, sweat, human hair, perfume vapour and chemicals. Entry into a clean room is strictly regulated and the technicians have to wear a moon suit.

Clean rooms are needed because hard disks are very sensitive to dust. Even a tiny spec wedged between the platters and head can make the disk to crash, leading to catastrophic data loss. In a clean room, the disks can be opened, repaired, resealed and handed back to the customer.

Professional recovery is not an inexpensive proposition. It can cost a lot of money because of the effort, technical skill and infrastructure required to extract the lost data. However, it is worth it if the alternative is the collapse of your business due to data loss.

Best Tips to Speed Up Your PC

Best Tips to Speed Up Your PC: "PC slowdown is the most common problem and most of the computer users experience this quite often. The reasons why computers run slow are quite common; here is a 3 step process that you can do to help to stop slow computer performance right now.

1. Close all running programs. Computers become slow if there is a program running in the background that is taking up too much memory. Your computer can only do so many tasks at once, if it goes over the limit then it will start to slow down considerably. By opening the task manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del) you will be able to see the processes that are simultaneously running. Click on the processes tab and then end all of the processes that have your username beside it. By doing so you'll be able to free up some memory to speed up your system.
2. Scan your computer for viruses. Viruses at the very least slow down your computer. These little pests find their way into your computer by attaching themselves onto files you download from the internet. Viruses not only corrupt your files, there are variants that also eat up a lot of disk space and RAM making the computer run sluggishly. In order to get rid of these viruses it is important that you run an antivirus program to search and destroy any viruses that may have gotten in your computer.
3. Clean the registry. Probably the most common cause of slowing down in computers is due to the fact that the registry has become corrupted. The registry is what you might call the DNA of your whole computer. It contains instructions on how your computer will run, and contains all the personal settings that you have made. So if you're registry gets too cluttered or even corrupted it will cause your computer to run slowly and in the worst case crash.
In order to fix the registry, you need to use a system and registry scanner. You can download one of these over the internet, and most of them are quite simple to use. These tools scan your registry and computer and check for any errors and fix them. This will enable your computer to run smoothly, almost as if it was brand new and stop slow computer performance right away. If your computer is running slow do not put up with it any longer. Scan it now.
In case of the fixed hard disk there is always a chance of finding the deleted photos in the Recycle Bin or Trash as photos that are deleted do not directly get deleted without going through the Recycle Bin, unless such an option is selected. This gives the user an option to restore the deleted photos back to the location
from where they were deleted. However, in case of flash drives the scenario is different as the photos that get deleted do not reside in the Recycle Bin or Trash and get deleted permanently.
However, there are some common doubts that come to the mind of photo recovery software users during usage of the software. One of the main doubts among them is regarding the Preview option that is offered by most photo recovery software. The Preview option is a snapshot of the image that has been recovered but has not yet been saved. There are times when the Preview of the deleted or lost photo is shown but the image is not recovered. This happens because the snapshot details are contained in the header of the image file, and this would have been recovered while the actual image data might have got deleted.
In scenarios like this it is impossible for the user to recover photos from flash drive or any other storage media. The user therefore needs to understand that not all images whose screenshot is available can be recovered.

The Many Uses of the IP Camera

An IP Camera can simply be described as a mechanism that stands alone while allowing you to view live video from any location. IP Cameras are popular among anyone trying to improve their web of information, as well as for those wanting better security for their personal or business lives. In fact, most of the people who own an IP Camera use the camera not for information gathering, but strictly for security purposes
.
IP Cameras are ideal tools for security measures because they can literally be set up anywhere thanks to the wireless feature that comes with many of the newer devices. In addition to all the advanced features such as panning, zooming, object tracking, infrared, facial recognition, people counting, and motion detection sensors that can be found in buildings requiring more advanced security, IP Cameras also happen to be very cost and energy efficient. This is good news, especially since people used to spend upwards to a thousand dollars on multiple devices that were each designed to do just one of the features that this one compact gadget now can. Because IP Cameras can be viewed as live feed, a truly savvy computer tech can use that network to his or her advantage.
Take for instance how much easier it would be to pick out one person in a ground of hundreds, sometimes thousands. It's so easy to track a person's movements with the help of Network Cameras that it's scary. Then of course, when you aren't considering the stalking possibilities, there's also the ease in which one can now gather information. Many security cameras have such advanced zooming and megapixel technology that it's a simple thing to read or recognize even the smallest font or symbol.
Imagine how much safer a corporation would be if a suspicious employee could be monitored through the IP Camera that's set up in the building. As long as laws are strictly adhered to, the possibilities surrounding IP Cameras, which can come in surprisingly compact sizes, is unlimited. The trick is making sure that the power is used for good rather than evil. There's a difference between monitoring a business and blatantly spying on employees.
Installation is simple, only requiring a monitor at minimum, and more advanced software at maximum. If you happen to be away from your home or office then an IP Camera can help you keep an eye on things no matter how far away you happen to be. Some of the places where IP Cameras are making themselves useful include financial aid and government institutions, banks, childcare facilities, at ATM machines, stores, parking lots, parking garages, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, record rooms, pediatric departments, colleges, homes, businesses, and high schools.
These cameras keep employees honest, keep people and products safe, help identify criminals, and also give a heads up in case of emergencies like fires, break ins, vandalism, and etc. They can also be used to monitor how hard employees or students work and who should be commemorated for their performance in that regard. Parents have even used IP Cameras to monitor or check up on their children while they're at work.
Anyone with a bit of extra cash and a head for safety and security (in more ways than one) should seriously look into installing IP Cameras both outside and inside their place of business, work, or recreation.

A Look into Wireless Networking and Applications

Arena of inventions are going on and yet discovering new ways of communication and transmission – either it is IT or telecommunication, going on with the most incentive and innovative time span so far. Presumably, computer and Internet have played the most vital role in all such kinds of technological revolutions and inventions and yet taking part. It has made the lives of humans so easy and convenient that a person with a handset device can see and communicate with people around the globe. No more will it require having long wires and joints like a decade before. Now, you can get connected via your cell phone or any Wi-Fi
enabled device – it could either be your mobile phone, your tablet, your laptop or your TV.
Wireless networking is the most convenient form of networking that wave-off all of the worries for cabling and wall mounting jacks! It simply requires you have a wireless router, or connectivity terminal install in your territory and that is it! You can get connected via that particular device using your access device cell phone, your desktop computer or any other Wi-Fi enabled device that allows Internet connectivity using wireless medium. The very basic configuration or the peripheral that you would require to have wireless connectivity is the access to ISP either via wireless device or a wired medium till your territory and an access point which will spread the spectrum of wireless Internet within a limited region allowing you to connect and access Internet on your computer's or Wi-Fi devices.
You may wish to have the advantage of wireless networks even without having wireless connection from the ISP. In order to take benefits of wireless networking, you would need a wireless router or an access point and just connect it to provided ISP connection line with appropriate configurations which are often ISP specific and device specific but mostly common set of settings within varying devices from different vendors. So, once you have installed a wireless access point, you can enjoy Internet connectivity on your Wi-Fi enabled devices seamlessly as you would have over cable network setup or in formal terns Ethernet.

There is a lot of demand for computer based training

n today's times when everything has become technology oriented, it will be fair enough to say that we live in an IT world. Everything that makes our lives comfortable today right from cell phones to washing machines is included under the IT sector. It has gained great popularity and a large number of people are flocking towards this industry. This is mainly because people have realized how beneficial and rewarding it is
. The IT industry is constantly growing and there is increasing demand for IT professionals in the market. To supply the market with well trained and able IT professionals there are a number of institutions that provide effective training to ensure that there are a number of experts in the industry.
One of the major elements that needs to be understood well and is extremely essential is computer based training. Having complete knowledge about computers and knowing how to compute different programs and think of means to come up with new creations becomes extremely important in the IT industry. Without sufficient knowledge about the same, one cannot progress at all in the IT field.
While providing computer based training , there are a number of aspects that institutes that train people take into account. A couple of areas they look into essentially is assembling the computers, knowing different coding programs, having enough knowledge about Bluetooth and wireless connections, assembling the printers and scanners and looking into every sphere of computer technology.
Due to the demand in the IT field, there are a number of institutes that computer training to the masses. One institute that has a cutting edge over the others and has provided the market with the best of professionals who have thoroughly impressed everyone at their work place with their skills is jetking. They are known to provide the best computer based training in the market and use a number of techniques to provide the industry with able students when they enter the real work space. For this they include theory lectures, practical work, provide work experience to the students and train them in a fashion such that when they enter the market, they are completely able and can handle any situation that comes their way.

A Review of the Numerous Threats Your Children are Facing online and Why You Require a Software like Net Nanny

More and more adult and violent internet sites keeps comming and they're becoming significantly more intelligent discovering a way to your computer. in the event you count on Windows or your anti virus protection software to take care of these threats, you have to reconsider your opinion
. You need parental control software like Net Nanny to protect your kids, here is a review of why!

There are quite a couple of reasons why you need to consider investing in parental control software to protect your kids.

One thing is what is coming from outside and into your house online, an additional thing you have to consider is your children's behavior online in form chatting, social networks like Facebook, online games and all of the other temptations and activities there might be for kids.

There are individuals out there that do wish to harm our little ones, that why is it very important that you not only make a little investment in a web filtering software but also choose the one you are going to make use of wisely.

First of all you require a software where you have the control and can do settings with out you children being able to change them, and also the user interface has to be as simple and simple to use as possible, because basically when it's initial installed you need to not invest any time on utilizing it. It should just run within the back ground.

Numerous Cyber patrol software keeps popping up where you have to make a lot of choices all of the time you essentially don't know anything about, and this put your kids in a much higher risk of being offended.

The visitors on the internet changes all the time, so you require a software which are constantly updated to take care of the new methods spammers might have found to your pc.

And then there's the entire Facebook issue, imagine how many offenders there may be on Facebook just waiting for the right moment.

You need to have parental control software where you're able to monitor your children's behavior, who they are talking to, their friends, posts and all of the other things going on Facebook, but also are able to stop potential attacks coming from Facebook towards your kids.

The Facebook security itself is not guarantee for you or your kids.

Another small issue you might consider is to have software you will find able to set up the times and hours your children have access to the internet. It is so easy for the small ones to suddenly have spent an entire day online, without being playing with other kids.

It makes them lazy and passive so why not have parental control software that can do that for you as well.

Update your computer drivers with Driver Navigator

Driver Navigator is a software program designed to automatically detect and download the drivers you need for your computer.
1) The distance from the nearest telephone exchange:
The closer a home is to where the internet originates the faster the connection is going to be. The only real way to ratify this is to move closer to a telephone exchange.

2) The number of computers sharing the network:
The more people sharing the connection the less speed each is allocated.

3) The time of day:
The more users using the internet in a general area the slower the connection will be. Weekday peak times are easy to monitor as they revolve around the average work day. Extremely high right around the beginning of the day and then it tapers off a bit, spiking around lunch time. The early afternoon tends to not be so bad and then it peaks again about an hour before the workday ends. Night time and weekends see significantly less internet traffic.

4) Quality of the computer:
An old, virus infected, slow computer will provide a slow browsing experience. Clean it up or upgrade to a new one.

5) Quality of the cables used:
The telephone infrastructure in and around a home, the cables linking it to the modem, and the cable from the modem to the computer (if wired) will all determine how fast a browser is running. Upgrade all cables, especially if current ones are older, and an increase in speed should be apparent.

6) Quality of internet hardware used:
That is the modem and wireless router. Like anything mechanical, they tend to degrade over time, so if a modem from 1999 is still being used it may be time for a new one.

7) Personal browser settings:
Some internet browsers are slower than others. Installing other apps on top of that will only slow a computer further. Things like cookies will also decrease surfing speed. It may be wise to download a new browser and strip away some of those unnecessary extra features.

8) Traffic management:
Internet providers penalize for excessive bandwidth use, slowing speeds if the user tends to download a huge amount of large files. This can also include video and, to a lesser extent, music streaming.

9) Popular websites:
The website itself is only designed to handle a certain amount of traffic each month. If it is a massively popular website with a multitude of users it might run a bit slow.

10) Weather:
Thunderstorms, snow, hail, wind, and all other types of unpleasant weather can disturb the ADSL signal and slow a connection down. It may be better to wait until it passes so the broadband can work to its fullest potential.

If the internet has been bothersome recently it may help to try out a few of these tips. Of course, there are ways to avoid a great number of these problems, such as finding a new place to search the web or using some sort of mobile broadband, which would cut out many hardware and sharing problems.
It is a four number that can be between 0 and 255. It contains 4 octets and is separated by dot (.). You can collect your this address number from your LAN service provider. Some time the IP address gets vanished from the computer and hence you will not be able to connect to the internet. In such cases you need to re-setup it.
Here you will come to know how to set the IP address easily in your computer.
1] Click the start button in your desktop. Choose control panel button and click it.
2] Choose "network connections" from the control panel icon and double click it.
3] In the network connections you will find all the network connections that are installed in your computer.
4] In this choose the active network connection, i.e., your LAN (local network connection).
5] Right click mouse in the LAN connection and click the properties icon.
6] Click properties and select "general" where you will find "this connection uses the following items".
7] At the bottom of this heading you will find internet protocol (TCP/IP). Select this and click the properties icon.
8] Fill the details of IP address, subnet mask and default gateway with the 4 octet number that is allotted to you by your service provider.
9] The DNS server and alternate DNS server need not be filled as it is a default.
10] Finally click O.K. and complete the IP set up process.
11] Now connect the internet. You will be able to view the web pages you need.

How Application Virtualization Can Improve Morale at Your Organisation

From a technical perspective, the benefits of application virtualization have revolutionised the management and execution of information technology at organisations of all sizes.
Aside from improving the management of these systems, those who have implemented application virtualization will be pleased to learn of the domino effect this has on the morale at an organisation – at all levels.
This may lead some to ask how something as technical as application virtualization can affect something as personal as moral. Those asking this question need to understand the ultimate benefits of application virtualization.
Firstly, it allows greater flexibility with regards to where those who work at the organisation do the work. Once application virtualization has been implemented, employees are able to access applications remotely.
Secondly, the management of workloads can be improved dramatically. Application virtualization allows the management of applications to be managed in a much more efficient and streamlined manner. This makes it much easier for staff to execute various operations on these systems, allowing them to work quickly and efficiently.
So how does this affect the morale at the organisation? We will all be aware of how frustrating technology can be at points, especially when it is running slowly and not allowing us to perform the operations that are imperative to completing our tasks.
Application virtualization smoothens these processes, meaning staff can get along with their tasks without becoming frustrated by the systems they are working on. Overall this will lead to a happier working environment.
Sometimes, when we become frustrated with technology, it is not uncommon for us to take it out on our colleagues. Application virtualization allows staff to worry about their work, without becoming frustrated and tense by their machines.
For these reasons, many are turning to professional companies to implement application virtualization at their organisations. An improved office moral is just one of its many benefits.

Data Backup Software Vs Self Backups: Which Is Best?

There are many people today who are still performing their data storage events on their own, saving their files to a disk or other type of media. This is often a viable solution for small businesses as well as individuals, but is it the best solution? When people perform their own data storage events rather than use data backup software, there are some apparent benefits but some very clear risks
as well.

When you do a self backup by saving your files on your own disk or other media format rather than using data backup software, you really subject your data to risk due to human error. The fact is that you can absolutely plan to do a backup storage event of your files on a regular basis, such as every night or every week, but how often does that really happen? The fact is that very few people follow their scheduled backup plan because life just gets busy and things happen, and data storage events get pushed to the back burner. While running your own backup event is cheaper on the outset, imagine the cost that you would incur if you had a disastrous data loss when it has been a month or longer since you last saved your files to your backup disk.

Busy people may think they don't have time to mess with using data backup software. However, the truth is that busy people don't have the time to do backups regularly without such a solution or to deal with the consequences of data loss to a disastrous event. A software solution allows you to set up a backup schedule, and then get back to your busy life without having to worry about performing daily or weekly backup events on your own because the software will handle it for you.

Download Antivirus Software for Must-Have Protection on Your PC

Protecting your PC with a reliable antivirus is the need of the hour. If you haven't yet thought of it, then you better download antivirus software right now, since this is the one thing that you simply can't afford to overlook the need of. Installing an antivirus in your PC is as
important as being concerned about the security of your home. This is one such software that every single computer user must install, since without it, you're sending out an open invitation to computer viruses to play havoc with your system.

Before getting an antivirus download, it is important to take time out for a market research of all the antivirus software available in the market, and carry out a detailed analysis of the different features that each software provides. The first thing to pay regard to is the extent of protection that the antivirus offers. An ideal one would be one that protects you from all possible threats, including viruses, trojans, and spywares alike. Another important aspect to consider before you download an antivirus is that it should be equipped with a user-friendly interface, making it easy to use for an amateur user.

But that's not all, since the best antivirus software would be one that gets regularly updated, since new viruses and malware are surfaced every moment, making a minute-to-minute updation essential. Last but not the least, the price of the software is something that needs to be considered. While it would be smart to settle for a good deal that's easy on the pocket, make sure that you don't end up making a bad choice just for the sake of saving a few bucks. With all these factors kept in mind, you'll definitely make the best choice not only for virus removal, but also for future protection of your PC.

Moreover, you can also look out for some additional features in the antivirus that suit your particular needs. For instance, if you're regular on social networking sites, it would be a good idea to install an antivirus that specifically caters to these applications. Now that you're well equipped with all that you need to know about an antivirus, the next thing is to look out for a reliable site that offers different antivirus programs to choose from. Make sure that the site is a safe one, so that you shouldn't end up further hampering your PC's security while searching for a solution for it.
The idea (if you don't know what overclocking is) is to make your CPU run at a faster rate. For example if you have a 1,4 GHz CPU you could probably overclock it easily to 1,5 or 1,6 GHz. The latest processors are advertised as being clock locked but there are always ways to overclock them (through FSB for example), especially if
you are an enthusiast.
There are many methods to overclock your CPU and in this article I will refer to the most popular:
Caution: Be careful when using any of the following methods. You run the risk to go over the limits. Take some advice from an expert or have him perform the overclocking procedure for you, if possible. Also, make sure you buy and install a heatsink or an additional fan for obvious reasons. Last but not least, install a benchmarking utility that will show you how much speed you've gained.
Altering the Bus Speed
When the Bus Speed increases, it makes the whole system run faster. Bus Speed defines the speed that the motherboard and other system parts run at. You can use this method and the next one together to achieve faster speed.
Altering Multiplier Settings
Multipliers are located on your Motherboard in the form of x1, x2, x3 etc. The Bus Speed is multiplied by these numbers giving the CPU speed. For example if you have a Bus Speed of 200 and a multiplier of x2, then the CPU speed is 400 MHz. Simple. Increasing the multiplier results in faster CPU speed.
Overclocking through BIOS
Most BIOS systems have the option to change your CPU speed. This is the easiest method since it's all done on your screen. When booting, enter your BIOS and look for that option to alter CPU speed or voltage. Then just change the values and see the results.
Playing with the jumpers
This requires to open your computer case. Always have your motherboard's manual handy. Carefully read the manual to see how you should fit your jumpers for each CPU speed. Change their position in order to alter the bus and multiplier settings and achieve higher speed.
Using overclocking software
This is another easy method and it is highly recommended. Go online and search for the term -Overclocking software-. You will discover many programs. I can't recommend any specific software, you have to climb that cliff on your own. After you download and install the overclocking software, it's as easy as using the interface to alter CPU speed. Before proceeding, make sure you read the software help files and instructions.

Three Ways To Train For AutoCAD in 2011

2010 has been an eventful year for Autodesk, with many new releases for AutoCAD users. With Autodesk releasing new AutoCAD software in 2010, apps and much more, of course the way we train for AutoCAD has altered. So expect to find in 2011 revolutionary ways to train that make the training far easier, especially if you are a busy person.

AutoCAD is one of the major programs used in architecture, green space design and product design. If you are involved in either of these fields, it's vital that you know how to use AutoCAD accurately and precisely, and you are up to date with the latest software. Thus continuous training is vital in these professions, in order to enable you to use the program to its utmost capacity. So how do you train and keep your AutoCAD skills updated?

The first way is learning through the program. The latest AutoCAD version is AutoCAD 2011, which is more powerful and versatile than ever before. AutoCAD 2011 lets you explore more design ideas, enabling you to be more creative and innovative than ever before. Due to its versatility, you'll never find yourself confined in a box with design ideas! It's efficient too as sharing capabilities have been vastly improved. If upgrading your AutoCAD skills, you'll find you will just need a couple of hours getting acquainted with the new functions that will overall make the process far easier. If you're new to AutoCAD, you'll need a substantial amount of training, which should encompass knowing how to use the program practically and knowledge of the program functions. You could use an AutoCAD guide at the same time as you get use to the software.

In 2010 AutoCAD also released an application for the iPad and iPhone. Project Butterfly or the AutoCAD WS, the new AutoCAD mobile application, was released in September 2010. Autodesk are expected to expand their WS range further to smart phones, not just iPhones, tablets and mobile internet, later on in 2011. With AutoCAD WS, you can view files, edit, draw, view in different modes, and share with other PCS or mobile devices. This new range allows those who have little spare time, to not only work on projects, but to practice and train whilst commuting or on the go.

Alternatively, train at home using computer based training for AutoCAD 2011. With home based training, you can spend any spare time you have training, as it fits into your schedule. If you don't have access to AutoCAD software, computer based training is perfect as it still enables you to learn the program in detail due to the in-depth knowledge the virtual teacher goes through. Practical labs and lessons use a hand on approach, letting you get a hang of the program, rather than just shooting information at you.

Whatever approach you choose to take, remember it's important to get practical experience and to attain the knowledge needed. Use guides and a practical approach to learn everything you need to know about AutoCAD.

If you are interested in computer based training for cad courses such as Autocad 2011, visit www.cadcourses.co.uk
Mail operations can be easily performed with this software. But many times a situation occurs in front of you in which data of the important mails cannot be accessed. Issue related to MSOE.dll file also ruins the Outlook Express application. You do need not to get tensed by such abrupt behavior. Simply,
opt for a third-party Outlook Express Repair tool which can instantly Recover Outlook Express mails.

To illustrate above issue consider a practical example. Most of the times it happens that on every attempt to open Outlook Express, the application shows no results. You fail to open Outlook application and receive below mentioned error messages on the screen that says:

"Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0x800C012E,5)"

Another error message may also appear that looks like this:

"Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly."

Cause:

(1) Corrupt Outlook Express message store is responsible for the above error.
(2) Read-only DBX files also is the reason for above error.
(3) Above error is also caused because of destroyed or damaged Identities Registry key.

Resolution:

To overcome this problem, you need to follow the below mentioned steps:

(1) If read-only *.dbx file creates above problem, set the read-only attributes as not read-only. For doing this you have to enable the view of hidden files and folders. Type the path of the .dbx file. Go to Start>>Search>>All files and Folders in the box and select search or 'Find Now' depending on your operating system. Once you find a file, open the file and select Properties to set the read-only attribute as unchecked.

(2) If the error occurs because of corrupt DBX files of Outlook Express, then try to solve the issue by removing or deleting the corrupt *.dbx files. Perform deletion only when you have an updated backup along with you.

(3) If the error is because of corrupt Identities Registry key, then follow the below given suggestions:
(3.1) Change the name of the "Main Identities" subkey.
(3.2) Always make a backup of your identity information.
(3.3) Remove the "Identities" Subkey.
(3.4) Again make "Identities" Subkey.

(4) If corrupt Outlook Express message store is the reason for the above error, use a third-party Outlook Express Repair software. Many tools are available in the market which can perform DBX Repair quite efficiently. Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery v3.0 is one such software.

Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express Recovery v3.0 is an advanced utility used to Recover Outlook Express data. Outlook Express DBX files of version 5.x and 6.x are easily restored with this tool. The tool provides you an option to restore files on any disk that can be accessed by a host operating system. The software is easy-to-use & install & no prior technical knowledge is required in operating it. You can install two or more than two operating systems on your single computer. This is called multiple booting or dual boot configurations. You can use this method to enhance your business work and security. Installing of Microsoft Windows XP and Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows and Linux, and Mac and windows XP are the examples
of dual booting or multiple booting. This depends upon your machine.
Useful Tips
• Install each OS on different volumes or drives in computer.
• Make sure that file system is correct and boot volume is formatted.
• If you have only one volume, you must repartition and reformat your hard drive, so that each installation can retain its own files and configuration information.
• Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 with Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 can only be installed, if you have formatted your volumes as FAT (Not NTFS).
• Windows 95 and 98 can only be installed on the boot volume.
• Always check the file system carefully to install the right OS.
• If you are using Linux and Microsoft Windows together, you may find installed applications of the windows in Linux, but you will not be able to find or run installed applications of Linux in Microsoft
Windows.
• Multiple Boot Systems are used to increase the security of the system in business firms. You can use Norton Internet Security like software for your system to make it secure.
• You should secure your data before installing two operating systems on your machine.
• You have to specify the default boot system for your use.
• Check the display list of operating systems to know about your installed OS. You can also specify the time for loading default OS.
Precautions and Problems
• Microsoft Windows 95 and 98 may change the hardware configuration. You must change your configuration according to your OS.
• Always install each OS on different partitions or volumes to avoid the problems and troubleshooting.
• Internet Explorer may cause problems.
Employers, also, routinely require authentication to company workstations. Even Internet web sites ask us for our uniquely identifiable pass code before allowing access to our on-line accounts. We are presumably providing better security and protection for our confidential
information when we using passwords.
Most users have the freedom to select their own password or phrase. But do you know how to create and maintain strong and robust passwords? Computer and network security best practices require that everyone knows how to do so.
The password is truly our front-line security tool to prevent unauthorized access to our information resources. Individual computer owners should know how to create strong and complex passwords. A business owner should also be aware and even consider creating a company-wide password policy and educating employees on how to follow through upon it. The alternative is to risk an unauthorized person gaining access to your valuable information resources.
A strong password, generally, should be longer in length (i.e. between 8 and 14 characters or more) rather than shorter, contain both upper and lowercase alphabetic letters as well as specialized alphanumeric characters. An example of such a password would be: SaM#XXxx5%.
A passphrase may also be used and tends to be more complex than a password and usually provides even better security. A passphrase might also be easier to remember. An example of a "passphrase" that can be easily remembered might be one that includes special characters such as: $4Lillies^Grow#Tall%intheSummer.
Regardless of a password or passphrase's strength, you should avoid writing it down or sharing them with others. Avoid using passwords or phrases that have their origin in the popular culture. You should also avoid including personal information in your password (i.e. your birth date or a pet's name).
Passwords or passphrases should be changed frequently to remain viable and be unrelated to any previously used passwords. For example, avoid replacing one password such as "Jim's$PassPhrase$" with a new password that is similar such as "Jim's$NewPassPhrase$".
Computer users should also avoid using common words such as "vegetables" or "fruit" as passwords.. Crackers or others who are trying to gain access to your information assets can easily use off-the-shelf programs to conduct what is known as a "dictionary attack". Modern day computers can literally test every word in the dictionary in an attempt to identify your password.
Consider checking the strength or robustness of your password. Microsoft™ provides a useful on-link password-checking site. It's URL is shown below:
https://www.microsoft.com/protect/fraud/passwords/checker.aspx?WT.mc_id=Site_Link
The purpose for using passwords or passphrases is to help assure the confidentially, integrity and availability of information assets. A prudent infrastructure owner and computer user may want to consider using additional techniques to improve user authentication.
