My opinion: India passed the controversial Right to education bill

The Indian parliament has approved a landmark education bill which seeks to guarantee free and compulsory education for children aged between 6 and 14. India's Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal described the passage of the bill as "harbinger of a new era" for children to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

But my question is "how? ", What is the plan that government is making, how the bill will be incorporated by law?. Just passing the bill is not enough, government has to look things at the ground level, suppose I am a Villager living in one of the most remote areas of India and I have got no education till age of 6th, there is a private boarding school 80 Km away from where I live, So in which class I will be accommodated because i will be having more age then my fellow nursery students, Where I will be accommodated, Will Government be able to pay the high fees, Law says "Government will compensate the fee according to government school rate", how would be able to study with the rest of fee burden on me. On the contrary how will Government will be able to pay this huge amount. Currently 3% of GDP is being spent on education.

Any ways, the bill also ends widespread practices by which schools impose admission fees on parents to guarantee their children a place and bureaucrats enjoy discretionary powers on deciding who to let in.

However, Critics of the bill say, "It does not cover children below the age of six and therefore fails to recognise the importance of the early years of a child's development and also does little to address India's inequitable school system under which there are vast discrepancies between well-funded private schools and state-run schools with poor quality teaching staff and infrastructure".

Winding up the debate, the HRD minister, Mr Kapil Sibal, said the government would strive to ensure that a uniform standard of education along the line of Centrally-run institutions like Sainik schools is established in the country. The House also rejected by voice vote a number of amendments brought by Opposition members.

Stressing that it is the endeavour of the UPA government to ensure “qualitative education”, Mr Sibal said for the first time emphasis is being given for defining minimum infrastructure facilities for schools across the country. “ Wherever in India, all private schools must meet those requirements,” he said.

BJP member Mr Kirti Azad, however, said many of his queries especially on neighbourhood schools and vocational training had not been answered.

Why right to education in world?

• 75 million children do not have access to basic education
• 150 million children currently enrolled will drop out before completing primary education - at least two-thirds are girls and 2 of them could be on our picture right here!
• 776 million adults in the world are illiterate and never got an education
• The right to education means that all these people have been discriminated against and their rights have been violated.
• The right to education means that these rights-holders can stand up and that something can be done.

In my opinion Government has made a good swift move to achieve UN's goal as well as fulfilling the promise which UPA has made to the people of India, But the bill must be more clear and must be followed at the ground level.This bill is obviously the "Historic Opportunity" to provide a better future to children of the country as there was never such a landmark legislation in the last 62 years, since independence as said by Mr Kapil Sibal.

Rakhi sawant's Swayamwar smashes all time hit with best TRP so far

"6.3 " that was the Television rating point (TRP) that the show "‘Rakhi ka Swayamwar" a reality show featuring Bollywood starlet Rakhi Sawant, in which she chose her future husband. This TRP was the best so far recorded for any television soap. According to Audience Measurement and Analytics Pvt. Ltd Some 15.7 million people tuned into NDTV Imagine for watching this show.

NDTV people did really hard work to make this marriage look real in all sense and make it palatable for Hindi GEC audiences.Last recorded best TRP for any show was Twenty20 World Cup cricket final on 21 June, that brought in TRPs of 3.5 for its broadcaster ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd’s Star Cricket channel.

“People were curious to find out what the show was about because the concept was new and this is what made them stay with us throughout the show,” said Sameer Nair, chief executive officer, NDTV Imagine.

In my opinion this show was senseless, Choosing a life partner on screen when you do not have much resource to know that whether the person standing as one of the contestants is fake or not. But whatever it was, people liked it. The new concept with some traditions, the kind of marriage which we usually read in books or in old Hindu stories, where a princess try out many man out of she will choose one, the best one. The show provided enough spice as well which can be easily served with an Indian dinner.

I guess Rakhi is taking a sensible decision to try Elesh first and if he s not the man then who knows, may be "Rakhi ka Swayamwar - season 2!!".May be this will fetch more audience then first.May be some more heart broken celebrities will try out this concept where they have not to spend even a penny for dating or marriage every thing would be arranged, by channel it self.

Any ways Rakhi is such kind of girl whom you can hate or you can love,but you can not ignore. I really wish Rakhi a happy and prosperous married life with of course Elesh Parujanwala.

HC said "Cops can't interfere with spa activities"

High court, Justice K Chandru said on 1st august

"Police as on date has no legal right to prevent a health spa being operated by any citizen of this country, even if it (massage) is done by persons belonging to the opposite sex. As pointed out by the Supreme Court, majoritarian impulses rooted in moralistic tradition cannot impinge upon individual autonomy... In the absence of a law, the only argument of the state was based upon moral and ethical grounds."

So I also thought on it for a while and finally I saw two sides of spinning coin.

The Spa side: Logically Speaking spa must be a place where you just go and relax and someone will massage you (may be of opposite sex), and when you come out you must feel as virginal as ever.

This is a prerequisite that opposite sex must not indulge in any thing other that massage which can be considered as crass and also that the person being massaged is comfortable with opposite sex.

This practice is common in many countries and is even not ethically wrong until it is following ethical and virtuous rules.

The Other side: But as we all know that things are not actually veracious as they appear, there are many blemishes in current laws and thus some ill-bred men fulfill their cravings by using spa for some kind of obscenity and it is quiet true that spa's are being used for some sort of sexual activities.

Police just want to do the work which is necessary to eradicate such kind of disgusting places, but still massage from opposite sex is not a crime and not even ethically wrong until it is only a paid massage rather than some thing more than that.

Movie Review: Love Aaj Kal

Love Aaj Kal is a Bollywood movie starring Saif Ali Khan as Jai Vardhan Singh and Deepika Padhukone as Meera Pandit..This movie launches Saif Ali Khan as a debutant producer.The co-producer of the movie is Dinesh Vijan.Love Aaj Kal has been directed by the very vivacious director Imtiaz Ali who has earlier given Romantic comedies like Socha Na Tha(2005) and the blockbuster Jab We Met(2007).The music is given by the new age music director Pritam and lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil.

The story revolves around two timelines : the new generation couple Jai and Meera and the love story of the late sixties between Veer Singh(portrayed by Saif Ali Khan) and Harleen Kaur(portrayed by Giselle Monteiro).The former share a very casual relationship without any liability and get out of the relationship when they felt its hindering their career,whereas the latter share a very quite and intense relation which is very pious and they are ready to spend a lifetime or even more together as Veer Singh's dialogue shows:"is janam mein aur har janam mai yahi meri votti banegi...".The later age Veer Singh is played by Rishi Kapoor who keeps counselling Jai and tries to make him understand about true love by narrating his love story to him.At times the two analogous stories going simultaneously in the movie tend to confuse the audience. Especially in the first 15 minutes of the movie the storyline cannot be understood.But as the movie develops it shows a lucid storyline.You will be reminded of Hum Tum at certain places because of the two simultaneous running stories.The movie carries a self attained taste and should not be compared with the last two movies of Imtiaz Ali.The dialogues of the movie go well with the two generations shown in the film.There is a cameo appearance of Neetu Singh who plays later age Harleen Kaur.Rahul Khanna also has a small role playing Vikram(Meera's fiance).

The music of the movie is very diversified having party song like "Twist",an emotional number like "Ye Dooriyan" and Punjabi song like "Aaj Din chadeya".The music of the movie adds further spice to its storyline.

The movie has been shot in Red Fort and Purana Quila , and various places in Delhi apart from being shot in London,San Francisco and Kolkata.

The movie is a must watch atleast once and I would rate it 3.5 on a scale of 5.
