Some have asked why the switch?

1. I couldn’t put on javascript here at WordPress.com and I wanted it for some of the things I was doing with this blog, especially Entrecard. I felt like I was being left behind.
2. I found a cool template that I could use on Blogger and couldn’t use here, even though I could use it at WordPress.org.
3. The catch: I’d have to pay for a host to go to WordPress.org and for the time being, I don’t have the money. Eventually my main blog, unfinishedperson.com, along with three other blogs I have, will be going to WordPress.org. I will be consolidating those three blogs into unfinishedperson.com, since it’s difficult to maintain five blogs. This way, I’ll only be maintaining two blogs: unfinishedperson and unfinishedrambler.

I hope I didn’t bore you too much with all the details. I will put a copy of this on my new Blogger blog (for those of you following me there, I used to have a blog at wordpress.com: unfinishedrambling.wordpress.com).

In response to the letter from 2012 in Obama’s America from Focus on the Family Action Inc., I have written the flip side of that: a letter from 2012 in Palin’s America (John McCain died in 2009 and VP Palin has taken over).

Like FOTFAI’s letter, my letter is a picture of the changes that are likely or at least very possible, but instead if McCain-Palin are elected and the far-Right segments of the Republican Party gain control of the White House, the Congress and even (gasp) The Supreme Court.

Dear friends,

I can hardly sing “God Bless the USA” any more. When I hear the words, “If tomorrow all the things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife. I’d thank my lucky stars, to be livin’ here today.”, I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Now in October of 2012 after seeing what has happened in the last four years, I don’t think I can thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here today — even though I really always had a problem with that line “I’d thank my lucky stars” anyway since that smacked of astrology and I didn’t quite feel right about that anyway because it was of the occult and the devil.

The 2008 election wasn’t even close. McCain won by a landslide. Many, many good Christians like me voted for McCain—old white Christians actually provided him with the landslide to defeat Obama—but they didn’t think he would die and Palin would follow through on the far-Right policies that had marked her career. We naturally prayed for it, but we really didn’t think it would happen.

The Supreme Court

Only days after the inauguration, incredibly the liberal judges died (quietly in their sleep, we were told then and led to believe by the folks on FoxNews Channel) and were replaced quickly by McCain with more old white guys like himself. The Liberal Media (CNN, MSNBC, basically anything not Fox News Channel) dubbed them the Nazgul after the Nine Ring-Wraiths from the Lord of the Rings for the power they controlled under Sauron, by whom they meant McCain. Little did they know of Lady Galadriel or the Shelob as some later would call her that waited to blind the country with her light (”And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” – only this case it was Satan herself) or wrap it in her web that first appeared to be an American flag.

Within minutes of the Nine taking power, everything is outlawed, homosexual marriage, pornography, public television, public schools, everything except for automatic weapons, which are handed out in home schools. Thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here today?

The death of McCain

Less than a month into office, McCain dies (we are told of old age by Fox News Channel) – and VP Palin becomes P. Immediately upon taking office, in her role as commander in chief, she sends troops to every continent and country in the world, except for Israel, and nuclear weapons are dropped on Iran, Russia (although very strategically so as not to harm Alaskan oil reserves), North and South (just because we can) Korea, and China. I definitely thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here today.

President Palin rides triumphant into Las Vegas straddling a nuclear warhead like Randall Flag in The Stand, but everyone except for me misses the literary allusion. If she had been wearing a cowboy hat, it might have been more recognizable tip of the hat (pun intended, ouch) to pop culture.

Palin is the Anti-Christ

Yes, no one has seen this coming: she is the Anti-Christ. Those of us in the religious right always thought that it would be a man. Little did we know. If a woman can be President, why not the Anti-Christ too? Protestants always thought Mary was the Whore of Babylon as described in the book of Revelations. Catholics just thought it was all a literary metaphor for something else. Both were wrong. Sarah was the Whore of Babylon AND the Beast.

I guess I can thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here today. At least, I still have my head until tomorrow when I could lose it if I don’t have the RFID chip that the Babylonian Whore/Beast wants implanted in my right hand so she can keep track of my every movement– which as a good Christian man, I only have the most pure intentions with my right hand.

I know you’ve been here this a lot for the last week, but really: Vote. Oh, not in The Election, either way, we’re screwed, but here: Humor-Blogs.com. You might be screwed here too, but at least you will be able to laugh about it afterward.

Oh, in the near future, I’m moving to my new digs at Unfinished Rambler. I want to give y’all a little time though to switch over to my new feed and all that jazz. In the meantime, if you want a preview, stop by, I’ll be crossposting.

This morning, as I was waking up, suddenly I was inspired– or actually maybe uninspired, since the meaning of inspiration refers to the divine. It doesn’t happen often: being inspired on my own. Usually, as I mentioned yesterday, I steal from other people, but this morning I actually came up with this one on my own.

So for today’s Flashback Friday, in honor of Halloween, I bring you the Devil himself (notice, no capitalization on “himself,” for Christians, that’s reserved for God Himself, but Devil, that’s okay to be capitalized) and his music.

I grew up in what many would consider a fundamentalist Christian home, meaning that I listened to Christian rock music (which I know might seem like an oxymoron to some of you, especially those of you who are fundamentalist Christians) and wasn’t allowed to listen to the “devil’s music.”

Now to country and western (not this new-fangled country mix of country, pop– no western– and rock), I was allowed to listen. Ironically, that is where I believe I was first exposed to the Devil– at least, directly, in the lyrics (my mom probably thought I and the rest of the country were exposed to him– notice, lower case “h”– through this seemingly innocuous but deceptively evil singer with his inviting lyrics):

Later in elementary school, a friend who lived in New Hampshire, the vortex of all that is evil (or so I’ve heard, well, very close at least in almost pure– talk about oxymoron– unadulterated evil percentage-wise to Delaware [1])), introduced me to this band:

and we all know what those letters mean:

Never mind, that they weren’t kids, but I guess is that they were trying to spawn a nation of kids for Satan’s service. But I mean, really, look at that guy in that video (above) spewing blood. I mean, that is what their name had to mean, right? Wrong. Nevertheless, I even heard that Gene Simmons killed a puppy with his steel-heeled boots at a concert in Jersey– and since have learned that there were rumors he had a cow’s tongue grafted onto his own.

Later, of course, I learned that they couldn’t be that bad because after all, they sang about God and heaven!

In high school (notice, it was school where I was schooled in the ways of the Evil One), I was well on my way on the…

Hell’s Bells! If there ever was a personification of evil in the form of one band– let alone Angus Young with the seizures he’s experienced on stage, this was it. I mean, you could even call them at 36 24 36 hey to perform your dirty deeds.

Finally, in college, I came full circle musically when I went real old school and went back to the year of my birth when Evil reared its ugly head at a place called Altamont:

Post-college, I just became a devil without a cause…

…and, like the rest of the World (capital W), since have been seeking out my own Personal Jesus.

This was one of the hidden slams by Diesel at my blog and other blogs at Humor-Blogs.com when we try to click on one of those smilies and get instead a page that begins Server Error in ‘/’ Application. For more on the phenom and where I completely stole my idea for this blog post (since I can’t come up with anything original on my own [1]), see Lobo’s analysis of the global blogging crisis (well, at least to those of us on Humor-Blogs.com).

Those two words were hidden in line 20 and funny thing (or not so funny because it really ruined my entire day since my existence revolves around seeing how many clicks I get on Humor-Blogs.com [2] and in turn clicking on Lobo and other funny bloggers like him, of course) is when I tried to click on a post, I got a message on line 19, that said: “Dim Post.” It doesn’t matter which post, any of them, I get the same message. Hey, if you don’t like my posts, that’s one thing, but then to call me “dim” on top of that? I call that unfair.

Okay, I know it’s just a little snow where you can even see grass and nothing like what my wife experienced in her trip yesterday around Pennsylvania AND New York states. But hey, at least, I had my own photo and didn’t just Google it. It was taken this morning right outside my window where is it any wonder our neighbor has his house for sale? I don’t blame him for wanting to get the f**** (that stands for “freak”, Mom and Dad, in case you’re wondering, notice the extra asterik, just like the “f” above in “WTF” stands for What The Fahrvenugen) out of Dodge with snow already and it’s not even Thanksgiving.

What can I say? I’m a weather wuss. I saw a group of cross country runners from the local college out running in shorts today and all I could think, it was too ball shrinking cold to be out there. Even if it is above freezing.

Oh, that definition at UrbanDictionary.com? Dallas has got nothing on northcentral Pennsylvania. Of course, if you live in Canada, you can go ahead and put your mocks of me in the comments. I just asked for it by putting up the picture above, with grass still visible, didn’t I?

Sick of all the political hype leading up to the election and just want a break from it all? Then click Humor-Blogs.com and, of course, VOTE for me. Okay, there’s a little bit of politicking, but hey, the FATE OF THE NATION isn’t at risk, just a bunch of fragile egos.

Three years, two days ago, I began blogging here, on my blog Just A (Running) Fool. My original purpose for blogging was to chronicle my journey to run a marathon by the time I was 40. On June 6, 2009, three days before my 40th birthday, I will be running that marathon, God’s Country Marathon in Potter County, Pa. (even though I am a long way from ready).

On Dec. 12, 2007, I began my second blog: Journeying with St. Ignatius to chronicle my journey that had begun in October to complete the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. My first post was What are these “Spiritual Exercises”? Since I completed the exercises in May, I have changed, and am continuing to change, the focus of the blog to incorporate other saints, hence, the title: Journeying with the Saints.

In January or February of 2008, I began a blog to chronicle my reading on a blogging platform I’d rather not mention because it sucked– and also I have since deleted that blog, though, some of the entries remain with another blog.

On March 31, 2008, I began a new blog an unfinished person (in an unfinished universe) with the idea of it serving as a portal to the other three blogs, connecting them all thematically: body, running; mind, reading and soul, devotions. The first post there was Hanging up and starting over (cue the music).

On April 21, 2008, I began a blog that didn’t fit into the body, mind, soul paradigm and was just for fun called Unfinished Rambling(s). My first post there was Sign sign everywhere a sign. Since then, the blog has become a “humor blog,” with it being listed on Humor-Blogs.com.

Then on April 25, 2008, I began another reading blog, Just A (Reading) Fool to chronicle my reading past, present and future with this post.

In all, since Oct. 27, 2005, I have had a total of 735 posts (not counting the posts on the blogging platform I didn’t want to mention and with some of those being cross-posts across several blogs) and a total of 30,446 viewers, which while nowhere nearing the number of viewers of Dooce (no link required, I’m sure you can find her), I’m still impressed, especially with the growth of my book blog, Just A (Reading) Fool, which continues to grow by leaps and bounds.

So what’s next?

What I’m planning on do within the next few months, probably toward the start of 2009, is combine four of the five blogs into one and switch from WordPress.com to WordPress.org. The four that will be combined under one umbrella, an unfinished person (in this unfinished universe) at unfinishedperson.com, are: just a (running) fool, Just A (Reading) Fool and Journeying with the Saints.

The fifth that will remain its own separate blog will be Unfinished Rambling(s), with the title perhaps being changed to (gasp! this is really drastic) Unfinished Rambling. I am leaving this one separate, because I consider it the alter ego to unfinished person with the persona there being unfinished rambler.

I already have four posts per subject, body: running; mind: reading; and soul: devotions, per week planned, which will include some themes I’ve already began. For example, I will continue participating in The Sunday Salon as well as my own Monday’s Memory and other theme-related days in which I either I participate or have started.

Why change it? The main reason is that from the start of unfinished person, I envisioned the other three blogs as showing the elements of what an unfinished person is: body, mind and soul. This will fit in with the holistic theme for which I was aiming from the beginning and give readers insights into the different pieces that make up this unfinished person (me) and in turn, make up us all.

At Just A (Reading) Fool, I already celebrated with a giveaway in celebration of my 200th post, but in the near future, I will celebrate my three-year anniversary of blogging on my other blogs with giveaways as well. I just haven’t decided what I will be giving away on the other ones, although I have one idea for just a (running) fool.

About the computer crash: Ignoring what other people like this guy have said, we haven’t backed up our computer in like…um, ever.

I know. I know. It’s these little things though that we don’t have:

Oh, I’m typing this in from the computer at the library, which I must say, and again, excuse my language, is a lot more bitchin’ than anything I could ever buy. The flatscreen monitor is DA bomb. I gotta get me one of these things and with the anti-glare protector that they have over most of them (of course, now that I say that I notice except at this one — which is placed right in the line of sight as people enter the computer section so they can see me writing this and are probably thinking, “Doesn’t that guy have more important things to do?” “Um, yes for your information, I do. I just can’t do it right now because my computer is dead so I’m here frittering away my time on the public computer. So there. Phffffbbbbbt!” Or however you spell that).

So without getting too political, what’s up with all this wacky political news lately, especially these two items:

1. The McCain campaign worker who faked getting up by an overzealous Obama supporter
2. and then the white supremacists plotting to kill Obama.

Crazy people everywhere.

Then Sen. Ted Steven from Gov. Palin’s favorite state being convicted on (say it isn’t so) corruption charges…

…it’s not a good time to be a Republican.

I don’t think anyone is singing “I’m Proud To Be A Republican” to the tune of the Lee Greenwood song “God Bless the USA” (which I’m sorry always makes me want to retch, not because I’m not a patriot, but because I think the equating of God and country is revolting) right now.

I think of the great Republicans:

For those of you who may not know him by photo, that’s Herbert Hoover, to whom Sen. McCain has compared Obama– and I might say, ironically, considering Mr. Hoover was…ahem…a Republican.

Of course, I’m trying not to get too political here.

The first time I heard KC & The Sunshine Band was in second grade in 1975 on a record player. For those of you too young to remember, a record player looked (and still do, if you can find them) like this:

Now that we were listening to this album might not have been so shocking — well besides the fact that we were in second grade listening to the original bump-n-grind music– except where I grew up was Pennsylvania. Specifically, I was born and raised in a rural part of the state where the main (no, only) ethnicity was white as a Saltine cracker box except for the occasional black Sambos in people’s yards.

(Just for clarification while KC was a white guy, Harry Wayne Casey, but as you can see from the video above, his band was made up of a multitude of ethnicities. Strangely enough, later, as teens, we dug this rap group too that literally broke down walls and this artist.)

The girl who introduced our class to the new LP she had just gotten, I think, for Christmas, was none other than one of my nemeses: Robyn Richards, whom I’ve mentioned previously after getting spanked by Leigh from Leighonline in Humor Blogs Fantasy League Football.

Robyn would beat up on me regularly. She would sit on me and spank me, which I think I liked it in a totally (yeah, right) prepubescent non-sexual way. Now in retrospect, I think maybe that’s the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I liked it.
