You probably think I’m going to talk about how many hours of sleep you need to get every night. Not the case, because I know if you’re a female entrepreneur, you probably stayed up far more hours than you’d like to admit to. I know I have, but for the love of my business, I’m okay with that. I think there are nights, you’ll have to stay up late and modeling sleeping beauty is not an option. But, sleeping patterns are important when it comes to your business.

Why?

You have to know what keeps your clients up at night. When I entered the world of marketing, I was asked to answer the following question.

Do you know what keeps your clients up all night?

Put yourself in your clients/customers shoes…
What are they agonizing over?
What are they pulling their hair out about?
What is bringing tears to their eyes?
What is robbing them of their joy?

They have problems that are keeping them from a good night’s sleep and you’re the person that can actually help them solve their problem. Sounds simple right? Well, I think by seeing yourself as a problem solver versus a Hair Stylist, Life Coach, Fashion Designer, Makeup Artist, Image Consultant, Esthetician, Beauty Expert etc. you will start to make core connections with prospects and your closing ratios will increase.

She will always be my favorite. I remember watching her on MTV in my teens…She was so beautiful, so talented and her life appeared so perfect. I know I wasn’t the only little girl that dreamt of standing on stage in front of 10,000 people, dressed in couture from head to toe and belting out a tune worthy of a standing ovation. When I heard she died…I immediately thought… Why? What’s the lesson? What can we all learn from this?

Failing Is Fabulous

So what if something you worked on flopped.
So what if you’ve fallen down.
So what if you failed.

If you have never failed before then you probably have not tried very hard to succeed. Do you yearn to experience victory? Fear of failure is what keeps so many entrepreneurs from taking the bigger risks needed to succeed.

I applaud you if you’ve failed. Yes, I said it, because it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve failed. If you failed a hundred times or a thousand times- get ready to fail forward.

You see successful people fail more than unsuccessful people. Look around at some of the most successful entrepreneurs and you’ll see they experienced their share of business bloopers and blunders before they conquered their chosen venture. They succeeded because they developed courage and tenacity to face their fears with undying resilience. They knew how to fall hard and get up fast. Do you?

On your mark, get set, go! I think people for the most part run from failure. They are so afraid to fail. It stifles them and they allow the failure to hold them hostage. They won’t try anything new, they refuse to step outside their comfort zone and they continue to talk themselves out of doing things and my all time favorite-they can always tell you why something won’t work. Remember, if something doesn’t work out the way you want it to, it’s a lesson that’s worth its weight in platinum. Your failures guide you and propel you to success. Pretty fabulous!

You’ve heard the saying, if at first you don’t succeed, try again. When I don’t get the results I want. I immediately look for the lesson and ask myself, What can I learn from this experience? But, I continue to expect something great to happen no matter what. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “Failed” and I see a direct correlationbetween something that didn’t work in the past, is now the reason something is working in the future.

Failing is fabulous!

Be one of the successful people that fail more than unsuccessful people.

Your failures will teach you what not to do and should be used as ammunition to find the path that will undoubtedly lead to your success. All you have to do is pay attention and learn to course correct for a smooth landing.

The next time you fail, know that it can’t stop YOU from being fabulous!

Beauty Show Recap!!!

You don’t have to twist my arm to attend a Beauty Show. On Sunday I drove down to Long Beach for the International Salon and Spa Expo. This is one of the biggest Beauty Shows in Southern California. You know how much I love “Big Hair”. This show was filled with lots of cool hair products, hair extensions and styling irons.

This show inspired me so much. I think I should create my own line of “Hair Extensions”!

Side note:

I have to fill you in on one of my other “beauty obsessions”. I love all the beautiful bags they give away at Beauty Shows (Great for groceries or logging “stuff”).

I definitely didn’t shop til I dropped but couldn’t resist Moroccan Oil, Bass Bamboo Brushes, Ardell “Fake” Lashes in 101 &103, California Mango Shower Gel & Body Butter, Ionix Hair Serum & Happy Feet foot gels that allowed me to walk around all day in 4 inch heels (OUCH!).

I picked up the latest copy of Style Source. Great article on building a “Beauty Biz” AND…to top it off, I made some wonderful business contacts that I will fill you in on later.

Prettify Your Workplace

Prettify YOUR Workspace!

Look around, what do you see? Do you love your workspace? I think your environment should serve you in more ways than one. Think about this, it’s either an asset or a liability. A lovely environment will contribute to your success!

One of the things I love about being an Entrepreneur, I can work at home. I’m pretty disciplined so it’s easy for me to get the job done at home. I know some entrepreneurs struggle with this and sometimes find it difficult to be productive and produce results at home.

Why am I so inspired? I put forth the effort to make my space “Pretty”. Every corner of the room excites me and brings me great joy. Just like I take the time to put together my favorite outfit, I took the time to decorate and create my favorite workspace. I’m a stickler about all things relating to beauty. My workspace is no exception. If you have piles of paper and clutter everywhere (not cute!). If you are looking for clarity on the inside, you might want to de-clutter on the outside.

Take time to create a workspace that inspires you- stop putting it off. First, clear your desk. A clean desk increases your productivity! Throw away the magazines, junk mail & piles of paper. Empty out your drawers, cabinets organize your book shelf, file important letters & let go of all “the stuff” you’re hanging on to and you know you don’t need to. Free your mind! Organization will make you feel like you’re on top of the world!

So how do you “Prettify Your Workspace”?

Be a Flower Girl: I love fresh flowers. They smell good and are beautiful to look at. If you’re on a budget artificial flowers will work also. The whole idea is to bring some of the beauty outside/inside.

Be an Original: Put your personality in the space with positive anchors. I have some of my favorite photos framed and displayed on my hutch and vision boards on the wall. I also have an oil painting of the New York cityscape on the wall behind my desk. It’s the first thing that I notice when I enter my office. One of my goals, live in LA & NY. Great reminder!

Color Coordinate: Buy office supplies in your favorite colors or design scheme. I keep pink, purple and yellow notepads in my desk; I even have a stapler/tape dispenser encrusted with stones in a zebra pattern. I have a lipstick pencil case for my pastel markers. Another thing I think you’ll love, purple, red and gold paperclips! Everything that I use is so pretty, I’m motivated to put it to good use!

Your lesson for today:

1. Throw 3 things away that you don’t need.
2. Organize your desk inside/out.
3. Add an item that will instantly “Prettify Your Workspace”

Remember your outside world mirrors your inside world!
