Unhappy Hipsters is honored to be part of Bulgaria’s Sofia Design Week, opening this Friday. You are all officially invited to our portion of the festivities on Monday, June 4, at 5:30pm. We’d love to hear from you if you attend! While we are not able to personally appear, rumor has it there will be book giveaways and lots of beautiful, enlarged photos by Dave Lauridsen, with captions by you know who…!

For the fourth time, Bulgarian capital city Sofia will become the centre of European design. Festival Sofia Design Week, organized by EDNO and the America for Bulgaria Foundation, will be held from June 1-8. The theme for 2012 is “In Context,” and the curators of the festival are Adriana Dimitrova, Yordan Zhelev, Lana Cavar and Svetlana Mircheva. The program will unfold in over 100 events – contests, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, projections, art actions and a professional forum. More than 150 designers from 20 countries will take part. Guests will include some of the most famous names in contemporary design, such as Genevieve Gauckler and Stefan Sagmeister. Bulgarian design will be aptly represented both by young artists as well as by already established names.

The central location of Sofia Design Week will be Vivacom Art Hall, while the total number of venues where the festival will take place again exceeds 50. The iniciative participants visiting all areas will be rewarded and there is also planned to be a special place for youth visitors and children. The festival’s partners are the Association for the Development of Sofia and the Municipality of Sofia. The festival is part of the Sofia Municipality’s Cultural Calendar and supports the city of Sofia’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2019.

Seems like it was about a year ago that we had to post a very similar warning. We hate having to crack down, but a few individuals are posting really crappy stuff in the comments and on the UH Facebook page wall.

We provide the commenting feature on the site and the FB fan page so that you (yes, you!) can post original, alternate captions to the ones that run on the website or something that elucidates the UH family.

Hate speech of any type, directed at any race, gender, or orientation, will not be tolerated. Same goes for foul language. Users who post anything offensive will be removed, banned, and reported. Let’s keep UH fun and friendly for all.
