October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer is the No 1 cancer for women in Malaysia, Singapore and the rest of the world. While it is only the 3rd leading cause of deaths in women (the first being Heart Disease), discovering the cancer late, leads to lots of pain and suffering both for the victim and the children.

According to the latest National Cancer Registry recent report, 1 in 15 Chinese, 1 in 16 Indians and 1 in 28 Malays will suffer from Breast Cancer. Those aged 45-55 make up the largest victims, while the youngest victim was just 14 years

Dr Evelyn Ho, the College of Radiology president says the lower incidence of Breast Cancer could be due to the rural women not realising they have it due to lack of awareness.
