Morewood returns to US

Not that it ever left really, but yes it's back.

Morewood, for the uninitiated, have been designing and

manufacturing the highest quality mountain bike frames for the last 10 years.

Over the years ideas and manufacturing techniques may have evolved, graphics and even corporate identity has changed. But one thing remains constant and that is the belief that simple is better.

The fundamental point to the frame design is single pivot suspension systems and that runs in the blood of the company.

The current model range is leant heavily towards gravity, and dont expect that to change too much as Morewood goes forward, there will be some new models this year that will raise a few eyebrows, buts lets wait for more news on that later.

For now the main news is simple.

Morewood is now fully behind a new distribution in the US with all models available for immediate delivery. The new distribution is based in Southern Oregon and will be able to support new sales plus warranty and service for existing Morewood customers.

A demo fleet is being prepared so for those of you looking to buy a new race or play bike for next year, consider Morewood, and contact Unique Sports Co for information regarding Morewood demo bikes before you make that all importent decision.

There will be more, lots more, but for now pass the word.

Snowmass wrap up.

iXS, Morewood, Spank were represented by our partner at Snowmass Blast the Mass Aug 5-7.

Set-up:

We had a 10 x 10' space with a Spank back wall with the Spank logo facing the riders lift line and larger teams. On the other side we had the iXS Darren/Roger/Richie wall. Two iXS beach flags and a large Spank banner. By the Bike rack we positioned the Morewood backdrop. Spank had a Spoon/Spike and Tweet wall as well as pedals out for people to try on the Morewood bikes. iXS had a protection wall, 4 jackets, and a wall of helmets, goggles, and gloves. We showed 2 Makulus, 2 Kalulas, the Kwela 29, and the Zama frame.

iXS - It was hot for the mountain so they key feature that was pointed out was the material and antibacterial treatment. The weight of the iXS pads blows away the competition... several people removed their Dainese, 661, and Fox guards to compare weight. No contest - iXS wins! The fact the gloves match other items like hats, helmets and more was also appreciated.

2012 Orange Five announced

MBRs trail bike of the year for 2011 has had some slight revisions as well as two new sizes added for 2012.

In response to the popularity of dropper seat posts Orange have been working on lowering the top tube of the Five. The new frame has a top tube based on an 18" bike with the seat tube dropped one inch to allow riders room to fit a height adjustable seatpost and run it comfortably at the five inch full extension. The 17" tag is used primarily for ordering convenience, and the 16 and 18" sizes remain as they were in 2011.

Sizing comprehensively covered at the small extreme, we'll now be offering a 22" frame for the tallest of riders. Using custom built tubing to combat additional stresses, the Five geometry has been adapted to bring the same ride characteristics despite the additional height. To promote strength and stiffness, the frame will only be offered with the Maxle rear end.

2012 Orange Patriot

Orange Mountain Bikes have returned their ledgendary Patriot frame from a well earned retirement. The bike, which inspired much of the current line up from Orange, returns in an updated format for 2012. Filling the gap between the Alpine 160 and the 224 Evolution. The Patriot has 180mm of single pivot travel for when 6" just won't cut it.

Signiture monocoque down tube design from Orange reduces wight and improves overall rigidity of the frame. The 2012 Patriot has followed suit with its brothers and sisters in the Orange line up. Featuring 1.5" headtube and 30.9mm seat tube with cable routing for adjustable seat post remote. The Maxle rear end keeps the rear end from flexing and makes sure the bike is planted right where it is expected to be. Standard ISCG tabs are yet another feature to ease the build of your new Patriot. The headangle is raked out at 65.5 degrees making the Patriot super stable on long fast descents while keeping your bb height and your center of gravity low.

Ashland Super D

Unique Sports Co represented Orange over the weekend by attending the Ashland Super D.

The appropiate members of the Orange demo fleet were available for excited riders to throw their leg over and get a feel for.

Junior rider Wyatt Morin was at the event and set a blistering time in his class having never ridden the course and having only ridden the bike once before. Congrats to Wyatt.

USCO at Interbike Outdoor Demo 2010

It's that time of year again, so we're going to Vegas, baby! For Interbike. And the only thing we're gambling on is how hot it will get at the Outdoor Demo! 107 degrees on Sunday, 99 yesterday, and it's 91 now.

Wow. We're not in Oregon anymore.

Sea Otter 2010

Sea Otter 2010 has concluded and for Unique Sports Co. was a good show. Great weather along with an enthusiastic group of attendees made for an exciting weekend.

Following the 9+ hour trip from Ashland down to Laguna Seca raceway was the task of setup.

After taking Wednesday to get the trailer into position and set the booth up we were happy to step back and see this.

Rising early Thursday lots of effort was put into unpacking and positioning to leave the booth looking like this.

The tour of the booth begins with the line up of Grammo carbon wheels.

Shown here top to bottom are the 88T, 8:0, 50T and 50C.

Grammos' R & D efforts produced a wide range of new product for 2010. Some of them debuted here at Sea Otter.

A new carbon CX frame which will be available later in the year. Also featured in this shot the new Factor SL all carbon tubular.

Leaving the inside of the booth and stepping out front the new Grammo G3 was on display.

Especially exciting here was the brand new Apex groupset from SRAM which was launched at Sea Otter. Grammo G3 framesets will be available featuring Apex groups later this year.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Grammo G3 shown here featuring SRAM Red and a pair of Grammo 88T wheels.

Two more colors of the Grammo G3 will be available later in the year.

Brought out on the second day of the show due to some parts arriving last minute was the brand new Grammo carbon 29er. A 26 inch version is also in the works.

Availability expected late June.

Stepping back inside the booth more new products from around the world are featured.

Zumbi bikes hand built in Poland will now be available from Unique Sports Co.

More detail on this line available soon.

Keeping a foreign feel to the tour next on the list of exciting new products is the Severed Alliance line from the UK.

Severed Alliance, hailing from the Manchester, sent us some samples just in the nick of time to have on display here. Featured is the Zoo Keeper BMX frame shown complete.

Arizona based Valdora Bicycles has been bringing you quality framesets and components since 2004. Shown here the PHX carbon TT frame.

Brand new for 2010 is the PHXII frame which is available to order now.

Unique Sports Co. proudly continues its' distribution and support of UK based Orange Mountain Bikes who were on display throughout at the event.

Inside were the Prestige, Crush, Alpine and Five frames.

While outside were the 224 and Blood frames.

Several complete Orange bikes were on display.

Top of the list is the Orange 225 Prototype which we had painted "Striker Orange" I think you'll agree the name of the color agrees with the end result.

A shot of the Strange decal which arrived a little late, but non the less in time to get applied to the bike before the end of the show.

The Alpine 160 built and on display featuring the Truvativ Hammershmidt AM.

The new dirt jump hard tail from Orange. Miii. Orange have announced this week that they will be making a larger size to accommodate taller riders.

New Products for a New Season

Its been a while, we have been staying warm and keeping the wolves from the door.

But the clocks changed and it now feels like spring.

Unique continues to deliver products and support for a range of Global Brands, and in 2010 we will have 4 new lines plus many new products from our current line up.

First up we are pleased to announce that Unique Sports will have exclusive US distribution for Zumbi Cycles from Poland. A high end line similar to that from Orange, hand built to order and featuring their patented FPS suspension system.

Zumbi models will be on display at our Booth at Sea Otter.

Second, Valdora Bikes from Pheonix AZ. A line of carbon fiber high tech Tri bikes and components designed in the US. This boutique brand goes from strength to strength and Unique is pleased to be able to add the line to our catalog.

Third, Vuelta Wheels. Following the success of the 2009 products we have decided to expand the line to include not only the carbon race wheels, but now the full alloy line as well including mountain bike and Fixie wheels. 2010 models are available to order now, call for discounts on palletized orders.

Finally, Polaris clothing. We have distributed the Polaris bike pod with great success over the last year, we now extend the line to include their extensive range of cycling and outdoor clothing which has received great acclaim in UK and Europe. The line offers great choices in style and color and includes and full womens and children's line.

Catalog Updates:

Grammo: The Grammo line is expanding dramatically for 2010 with new wheels across the range, new stems, bars, seat posts, light weight brakes, and forks.

A new venture for the Grammo line also includes frames for the first time, and we will be able to offer complete bikes very soon.

Orange: Brand new models include R8, P7 and Miii, then revisions to Alpine, 224 and five.

New shock options will include the Double Barrel from Cane creek and a wider range of fork options to now include both Rockshox and Marzocchi.

Also new for 2010 will be wider color options and faster turnaround on custom specifications, to meet your customers needs quickly.

Whyte: New R7 City bike, C7 Cross country bike, and 19 Steel hardtail will be available to order from June. The 19c and 120E frames remain unchanged apart from color and graphics.

Summary:

We hope to be more proactive in our efforts this year and have many new ideas to go with our exiting new products, that will hopefully help more of you want to become stocking dealers and ultimately attract new customers.

News and news letters will be more frequent this year as we expand, take on more staff and spread the work load.

We are on the look out for new Orange, Zumbi and Grammo dealers, call us for great start up incentives.

Carey at Momentum Bike, Hike and Board in Sandy, OR is our Orange dealer for the region. He recently received his white Orange 224 and just sent us some pictures of it built. Carey has only compliments for his new down hill rig which he has been riding around Sandy and up at Mt. Hood.

You'll notice from the picture he has a range of Orange bikes built up including a 224, Alpine and the Orange Crush. These are all available for demo should you be interested and live driving distance from Sandy.

An Orange Ruled the World

Orange Mountain Bikes rule, but they don't rule the world yet. We're working on it though!
This weekend we took the Unique trailer around Bend and up to Sandy for the first annual Sandy, OR dual stunt competition brought to you by Momentum Bike n Hike. Check out some more pics: http://momentumcarey.pinkbike.com/album/dual-stunt-race/

Rockstar brought their van and the dual sport course from the Northwest School of Freeride. Check out some action from the Dual Stunt and a pic of the Orange Demo Fleet.
We also brought out the Whyte carbon tech to impress the locals. Even the little shredders were impressed with the swoopy lines of the Whyte tech. Who knew, right?

The action was fast and furious, with some solid riders ripping up the course. Weather was "northwest sunshine", meaning not raining. Mostly.

Momentum Bike n' Hike put on a good show and Rockstar.. rocked.

The summer USCO tour continued back through Bend, OR where we stopped in at our local dealer Bend Bike N Sport. We were greeted at the door by a familiar sight, a trusty Orange P7 hanging in the window. Oh yeah.
