The United Emod Series has had a very long layoff since their March 31st opener at Mercer Raceway Park. Series point leader, Greg Johnson of Ashville along with his competitors will get back at it this Saturday and Sunday night at Stateline Speedway and Eriez Speedway for a pair of $1000 to win events.

The Quincy Turner Memorial will be held Saturday at Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY. The $1000 to win, 25 lap main event will be the first of five UEMS events scheduled in the next eight days of action that will cover the tri state region. Johnson is the current series point leader and track’s defending champion. Defending series champion, Joel Watson is coming off two wins last weekend and no doubt will be a contender along with last week’s winner at Stateline, Randy Hall. UEMS has averaged 46 cars per show at Stateline in the past two seasons and another great field of cars are expected to be on hand. This will be the first event for the Jays Auto Wrecking UEMS Rookie of Year chase. Brian Douglas, Mike Kinney, Bud Watson, Mike Eschrich, Shane Crotty, Ben Asel and Kyle Inman all have entered the Jays Auto Wrecking UEMS RoY chase. Race time is 7pm.

On Sunday, UEMS will travel to Hammett, PA to visit Eriez Speedway for another 25 lap $1000 to win event. Joel Watson is coming off winning last week, while Rich Michael won the tracks opener. Those two obviously will have to contend with Johnson, Dan Davies, Jack Young, Hall, Brent Rhebergen and many others. Dave Hess Jr, who dominated the UEMS series last year in visits to both Stateline and Eriez will be looking to be back in action from his back surgery he recently had. Racing begins at 5:30PM.

UEMS will be busy on the holiday weekend as the UEMS Emods join their big brother, Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Models on Thursday, May 24 at McKean County Raceway and then UEMS makes their first ever appearance at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, May 26 and then head home to Little Valley Speedway on Sunday, May 27. A busy five events in eight days in three states.

Expected entries at these events include Johnson, Carl McKinney, Rhebergen, Steve Dixon, Kinney, Shawn Shingledecker, Crotty, Asel, John Boardman, Michael, Mike McGee, Dan Davies, Young, Douglas, Al Brewer, Butch Southwell, Eschrich, Russ Dunn, Scott Gurdak and Joel and Bud Watson are all expected to be on hand.

BLAIR CAPTURES Kennedy Motorsports ULMS “NEILS PROPANE 30”

Busti, NY

Rob Blair came to Stateline Speedway on Saturday night with a heavy heart after losing his father-in-law. There is no better medicine than winning and that is what the W11 team exactly did by winning the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series “Neils Propane 30” and the $3000 prize money.

Andy Boozel and Blair lead the 24 car field to Mark Matthews green flag and Boozel roared into the turn one ahead of Blair but as the duo exited turn two it was Blair rolling past Boozel and lead the opening lap. Blair set a fast pace as he started to pull away from the field as Boom Briggs was working the high lane over the low lane chargers of Boozel and Dutch Davies. Briggs would finally make the high side work and take over second and the chase was on for Blair who had built up a straight away lead by lap 10.

At the halfway mark of the event, Blair lead started to shrink as he was content to stay in the low line following the rear of the field. This allowed Briggs to cut into his lead, lap after lap as Boozel, Davies and “The Captain” Jason Dupont were in a tight battle for third thru fifth. As lap twenty clicked off, Briggs had caught Blair and on lap 21 made the turn two pass in lap traffic to take the lead, but only to see the yellow lights come on and Blair re-inheriting the lead as the lap wasn’t completed.

Blair would restart the event in the ULMS Delaware Restart with Briggs and Boozel in tow. Blair would jet away by several car lengths over Briggs and the fans eyes now turned to defending Kennedy Motorsports ULMS champion, Mike Knight who took his Jay’s Auto Wrecking #9k Rocket to the “topside” of the oval and started charging to the front but he would end out of laps as Blair would take the $3000 “Neil’s Propane 30” win over Briggs, Knight, Boozel and Dutch Davies rounded out the top five. DuPont was sixth followed by Ron Davies, Chub Frank, Jared Miley and Brady Wonderling with an outstanding tenth place finish. Heat winners for the 31 cars were: Blair, Boozel, Dick Barton and Ron Davies. The two consolation winners were Scott Gurdak and Jared Miley.

Blair hails from Centerville, PA and drives the Specialty Products, Moody & Sons Welding, Rohrer Racing, Wescoat Excavating, Craiger Racing Engines, Mark’s Water Conditioning, MWB Graphics & Designs, Genesis Shocks, Will Thomas Motorsports, Hoosier Tire, Rocket Chassis.

The points going into the next Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series event on Thursday, May 24 at McKean County Raceway has Jared Miley and Boom Briggs tied for the lead at 47 points and Rob Blair and Ron Davies one point back with 46 points.

On Saturday night the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series will roll into Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY for the “Neil’s Propane 30” on Saturday night. The winner will go home with $3000 in the 30 lap event that will showcase the “best” of Stateline against the ULMS stars along with some national touring teams.

Both Stateline and the ULMS series kicked off their 2012 season last weekend. The Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series were in Pittsburgh for the $5000 to win PENNational that saw Rochester Mills, Pennsylvania star, Gregg Satterlee capture the win. David Scott of Garland, PA won the Stateline opener last weekend. Neither driver is expected to be on hand as Satterlee will be attending a wedding and Scott suffered a broken hand on Sunday at another racing venue.

David Scott and Dave Hess were ULMS winners last year. Neither driver will be in victory lane on Saturday as Hess is recovering from back surgery and Scott is out with the broken wrist. Defending ULMS champion, Mike Knight of Ripley and Rob Blair of Titusville both won in 2010 and they will be on hand along with Matt Lux of Franklin, Boom Briggs of nearby Bear Lake, “The Captain” Jason Dupont, Brent Rhebergen, former track standout, Ron Davies, Dennis Lunger and Jays Auto Wrecking ULMS Rookie of Year drivers, Billy Dickson of West Decataur and Denny Fenton of Clearfield, PA. Those drivers along with World of Outlaw star, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, PA and Kennedy Motorsports WoO driver, John Lobb of Frewsburg are both expected to be on hand.

The Stateline late model contingent of defending track champion, Dutch Davies, Chad Valone, Chris Hackett, Darrell Bossard, John Volpe, Rod Maloy, Rich Gardner, Doug Eck and Dick Barton will no doubt be looking to defend their home turf in honor and keep the three grand home and live up to the hype of the toughest weekly late model racers are at Stateline Speedway.

Grandstand tickets are $12 and the Pit fee is $25 to enter. Grandstand gates open at 530pm with the green flag dropping at 7pm. The entry fee will be $30 for the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model racers. The 10pm rule for the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model 30 lap “Neil’s Propane 30” will be in effect.

Mother nature finally cooperated with the racing gods as the 2012 Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series finally got their first show of the year in the books. 31 dirt late models from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia were on hand for the 51 lap PENNational at Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway in the co-sanctioned event with the UFo Late Model Series. Rochester Mills , PA ‘s Gregg Satterlee made his first start of the season a winning one in picking up one of the biggest wins of his young career in the ULMS/UFO Penn National 51.

Current UFO Point leader Keith Barbara and Jacob Hawkins brought the field down for the green. Barbara took the lead at the start and began to open up a lead, with Jason Covert in second and Hawkins in third. Barbara set the pace and opened up a half straightaway lead over Covert in the first five laps. By lap ten Barbara had built a straightaway lead over the outsider Covert as Hawkins was in third followed by John Garvin and Tony Musolino. The first of only two cautions in the event happened on lap 12 when 4th running John Garvin spun in turn one and tagged the wall and was finished for the night by going off the track on two wreckers.

Barbara grabbed the lead again on the restart over Covert, Hawkins, Tony Musolino and 9th starting Gregg Satterlee. Barbara opened up a lead again, while Satterlee was the car coming as he picked his way up way thru the field to move into second by lap 25 as he disposed of Covert, Alex Ferree (who was up from 18th), and Hawkins. On lap 26 the second and biggest yellow of the night happened, involving Jon Hodgkiss, Kari Gasser, Jim Stephans, and Denny Fenton. All cars continued in the event as the incident happened just in front of the leaders.

Barbara took the top spot again on the restart with Satterlee right behind. The front running pair pulled away from the rest of the field, while Ferree battled with Covert and Mike Johnson for third spot. On lap 30 the duo were side by side for the lead. Satterlee made his move in traffic on lap 39 and once in front opened up a big lead. Barbara began to battle with Covert for second with Ferree right behind. As the race wound down, Satterlee was a straight a way ahead of Barbara, with Ferree now ahead of Covert, while Jared Miley made a wild charge coming up from 29th spot to 5th. At the checker it was Satterlee, picking up his second ULMS win at PPMS and his fourth on the tour. Barbara, Ferree, Miley, Covert, Mike Johnson, Jason Rider, Hawkins, Colby Frye, and Brandon Burgoon rounded out the top ten.

I am proud to announce that the 8th Annual Stephanie Eckl Memorial will take place at the “Action Track”, the New Bradford Speedway on Saturday, September 8th! This will be part of the tracks 2 day season finale which will also feature the street stocks and mini stock division. This will be the LARGEST paying event in Bradford Speedway history!

“This past winter, Greg Eckl and I have had multiple meetings and conversations with other racing facilities to host his daughter’s memorial race, stated ULMS Director, Chris Zuver” “After things fell thru at other venues, Jeff Andrulonis of Bradford Speedway stepped up and along with his wife, Christy, they decided that the 8th annual Stephanie Eckl Memorial would be a perfect fitting to end their inaugural season as new owners of the famous1/4 mile oval in Rew, Pennsylvania.” “I am relieved and very happy that I could help the Eckl family to keep the memory of Stephanie going thru her memorial race, stated Zuver.”

Who is interested in this race? Well, Bob Close has already cancelled his Eldora vacation plans as he will be running his Close Racing Supply #04 at the track he started his career at! Al Brewer has already told ULMS Director, Chris Zuver, “Find me a car!” I am sure David Scott will like to get redemption from his 2007 visit at the “Action Track”.

Past winners of the Stephanie Eckl Memorial are three time winner, Todd Andrews, two time and defending winner, Rob Blair, defending Kennedy Motorsports ULMS champion, Mike Knight and David Scott. Last year, Greg raised $5400 that was added to the purse, which paid $3500 to Rob Blair and the last place car got $350 to start! The 8th annual Stephanie Eckl Memorial will start 18 cars due to the tightness of the 1/4 oval at Bradford. There may also be a non qualifier race added, more news to come on that possibility as the race gets closer.

World of Outlaw standout and Kennedy Motorsports driver, John Lobb of Frewsburg, won the Late Model Reunion on the Hill in 2007, which was the last time the super late models graced the 1/4 mile oval. Lobb past Ed Connor on lap 22 to of the 40 lap event and survived the late race charge by “Slowride” David Scott who came from dead last to third.

For more news on the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series, log onto www.unitedlatemodelseries.com or follow ULMS on Twitter or Facebook. The NEW Bradford Speedway will have a new looking website in the very near future. Bradford Speedway opens their 2012 season on June 22 featuring Crate Late Models, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.

McKean County Raceway and UEMS Emod Series have come to a agreement to have the popular UEMS Emod Series as part of the “open wheel frenzy” night at MCR on July 28. The Patriot Sprint Car Tour will make their first visit to MCR in several years and the UEMS Emod Series will join the winged warriors.

“I am happy to have our series a part of this night as we had lost a show with MCR due to the cancellation of the World of Outlaw race that was scheduled in August, stated ULMS Racing Series director, Chris Zuver.” “This definitely makes up for it as the sprint cars have not graced the MCR oval in a good eight to ten years.”

Currently, Greg Johnson of Busti, New York leads the UEMS Emod points after his season opening win at Mercer Raceway Park. The next UEMS event is scheduled for May 19 and 20th as the series heads to Stateline and Eriez Speedway to kick of five shows within 8 days. Great fields of cars are expected both nights with the likes of Joel Watson, Randy Hall, Dan Davies, Jack Young, Al Brewer, Kyle Inman, Butch Southwell, Vic Vena, Scott Gurdak, Shane Crotty, Brent Rhebergen, Kari Gasser, Rich Michael, Carl McKinney, John Boardman, Kyle and Craig Bedell along with many others being in attendance for the events.

Well, mother nature has a 2-0 lead on the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series as the first two events of the year have both been postponed by mother nature. With the season opening event at Sharon Speedway now being rescheduled for October 6 and the Jim Duffy Memorial at McKean County Raceway being postponed for this weekend due to predicted cold temperatures, the $5000 to win PENNational at Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway will now open the 2012 Kennedy Motorsports ULMS Late Model Series on Saturday, May 5.

“Well, this wasn’t the plan in how to kick off the 2012 season with two cancellations, but I am sure that the $5000 to win PENNational at PPMS will not disappoint the fans, stated ULMS Director, Chris Zuver.” “In the twelve years of ULMS Racing, we have never opened up with a show paying $5000 and now by fate, we do at PPMS.” “I feel we will have a very strong contingent of ULMS racers on hand for this event as the payout is very good and with our point fund paying out $5000 to the champion this year, we have more committed racers than we ever have had.”

The PENNational will be co-sanctioned with the UFo Championship Series and no doubt a very good field of cars are expected to be on hand. Defending ULMS champion, Mike Knight of Ripley, NY is expected to kick off his title defense at PPMS. Dennis Lunger was second in ULMS points last year and has a win at PPMS. He definitely is looking at his first ever ULMS win at PPMS. Past champion, Boom Briggs along with Rob Blair, Matt Lux along with Jays Auto Wrecking Rookie of Year contenders, Billy Dickson and Denny Fenton are expected to be on hand.

The PPMS faithful will see opening night winner, Michael Norris along with Jared Miley, Lynn Geisler, Jim Stephans, Kari Gasser, Tony Musolino, Brandon Burgoon, Mike and Davey Johnson plus others to defend their home turf over the Kennedy Motorsports ULMS stars and the UFo faithful of defending champion, Devin Friese, 2011 Pittsburgher winner and current UFo point leader, Keith Barbara along with John Garvin, 2010 series champion, Chad McClellan are some of the 30 plus cars expected to tackle the “Monster”.

Pit gates open at 4pm with grandstand gates opening at 5PM. Racing starts at 7pm sharp. For more information on PPMS, log onto www.ppms.com. For the UFo series, check their website out at www.ufoslm.com and all your Kennedy Motorsports info can be found at www.unitedlatemodelseries.com. You can get all your instant ULMS series updates by follwing ULMS on Twitter and Facebook.
