The Who's singer Roger Daltrey has hit back at the negative reviews of the rock band's halftime Super Bowl performance at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami earlier this week (Feb. 7).

Speaking to ESPN, Daltrey -- who along with Pete Townshend, are the only two remaining original members of the iconic band -- has spoken out about their five song appearance.

Daltrey berates the critics saying, "It didn't even feel like a concert. It's a television show. And what can you do in twelve minutes?"

He continued, admitting that the show could have gone better, "Cameras were everywhere, I was so blinded that I couldn't see. And I really wished the crowd would have gotten into singing the songs with us more. That's how it is in Europe for our soccer matches. I wanted more banter."

Townshend added, however, "We were trying to put on a good show, we had as fun as we could have. Miami is so different these days." He also said, jokingly, "Now Miami is fun and hip and I'm too old to enjoy it."

The Who performed 'Pinball Wizard,' 'Baba O' Riley,' 'Who Are You,' 'See Me' and 'Won't Get Fooled Again.'

If you’re a viewer of the relationship reality TV show The Bachelor, you probably already know that fan favorite, Ali Fedotwosky, left the show this Monday night, claiming that her employer wanted her back at work. Her employer isn’t just any old company, it’s Facebook, the company that just cracked 400 million users worldwide. But is there more going on than appears?

According to Silicon Alley Insider, Facebook issued Fedotwosky — a 25 year-old advertising accounts manager with the social networking giant — an ultimatum to choose between her job and the TV show. She supposedly chose her job (I guess those internal stock options are more valuable than being on the show?).
Wait, there’s more. Buzzing forums, Facebook fan pages, and entertainment magazine websites suggests that host Chris Harrison has been claiming it’s not over between Ali and the current season’s bachelor Jake Pavelka. Some viewers are speculating that Ali used the excuse of her employer, Facebook, threatening her job just to bluff Jake into picking her, and that it backfired.
Now according to another article on the Alley Insider site, Facebook says that they did not force Ali to quit. Other sources say Ali actually ran out of vacation time and had to make a decision to return or quit, with no current option for unpaid leave.
There’s further discussion below a photoshopped photo on Facebook itself that the show’s host might be right, that Ali, will return to this soap-opera like saga, but not to The Bachelor, rather as the next Bachelorette. Of course, the rumors that she has a brand new boyfriend in real-life might affect that possibility.
So maybe Facebook isn’t the monster some people were trying to suggest? Didn’t reality shows used to get taped weeks or months before they aired? I guess it’d be hard to capitalize on real-time social media feedback if that where the case. Melissa Rycroft is the cover girl of the first issue of Shape Bride, on newsstands today. It's designed to help brides prep for the big day.

Rycroft doesn't need to get ready - she tied the knot with Tye Strickland in December in an ocean-side wedding on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. "I still can't believe it," she says. "This past year, my life has been a fairy tale!"

Her tip for brides-to-be: Relax. "My philosophy was that I was going to eat the food, dance to the music, and spend time with my husband—and not let little things like centerpieces or napkins stress me out. Even if my cake had shown up black and my flowers were all dead, my wedding still would have been perfect to me."

For her, confidence equals sexiness. "I'm not Megan Fox sexy, but I'm girl-next-door sexy—and I know Tye finds that very attractive. Everyone needs to find their own meaning of the word—and flaunt it!"

You might have last seen Rycroft on Dancing With The Stars, when she says she was in the best shape of her life. "At one point I looked at my abs and I could count them! But that's not my natural body, and I knew I couldn't keep working out at that intensity."

And after the show, Melissa completely stopped exercising. "I needed to step away from it, because I didn't want to lose the joy of working out. After a month, I started to miss it and I felt ready to start again."She now runs two or three miles four to six days a week, and strength-trains at home.

To avoid fatty foods, she says she and Tye only eat out "once a week—either on Friday or Saturday—and I cook on most other days," Melissa says. "When I really want something like chicken fingers and french fries, I just have a kids meal," she says. "It's enough to satisfy my craving."

We here at the Ministry could dedicate this post to how offensive, just offensive, the whole John Mayer Twitter debacle has been. That Playboy interview! Airing his dirty laundry like that! Speaking in such ribald language about the ladies! Using the N word!

We could pull a CNN -- call up some talking heads and hold a marginally responsible debate on whether Mayer has some sort of blurting condition. Or we could pull a Fox News. You know, call in a different assortment of heads and discuss whether Mayer’s behavior is indicative of general Moral Backsliding in America.

But those approaches, though occasionally amusing -- always fun to see how far Bill O’Reilly can make his face retreat into his own neck -- would also be dishonest.

For most people -- especially us -- watching rich people talk themselves into a hole isn’t tragic. It’s not an outrage. It’s not Cause for Concern.

It’s fun.

In fact, there’s only one thing more entertaining than watching a pompous celebrity meltdown on Twitter, and that’s the implosion of self-pity that happens afterward. For Mayer, that Phase II has begun.

Confirmation first arrived Wednesday night. By that point, Mayer had already posted an apology on Twitter related to the Playboy interview. It was pretty good, as celebrity apologies go. But at a live show in Nashville that night, he broke down, according to a report by E! News.

"I quit the media game. I'm out. I'm done," a teary Mayer told the audience at the Sommet Center. "I just want to play my guitar."

For now, Mayer appears to be serious. His Twitter account has been silent for the last two days. Guess we’ll have to get our schadenfreude somewhere else.

Though it's still unclear how "Deadliest Catch" will handle the recent death of Phil Harris, the fan-favorite captain will be seen again on TV when the series launches its new season in April.

"Of course, he was fishing all the way up to the end -- he was such a special guy," said Phil Segal, president of the production company that produces the Bering Sea crab fishing series for Discovery Channel. He said he's not sure yet how the story of Harris' injury will unfold or if it will be included after editing.

"We're so concerned about the family and the crew right now that we haven't stopped to think about how we're going to deal with this," Segal said.

"We'll have to figure it out in the weeks and months ahead."

A crew was filming at the time of Harris' stroke.

On the waterfront a few miles from Harris' Washington home, a makeshift shrine has gone up at the Seattle Fishermen's Memorial. Discovery Channel has assembled a collection of moments featuring the man who first worked on fishing boats when he was 7 and learned to drive his dad's Ford pickup when he was 10.

Motor Trend did a feature on Captain Phil last year while he was sidelined from "Deadliest Catch" by a pulmonary embolism. Harris told the magazine about getting into his first crab fishing gig at the urging of a high school friend who'd used his fishing money to buy a cool car:

On that first trip on the boat, he worked for two months without pay, just to prove himself. 'A guy got hurt on the boat and I took his place and I made $135,000 in a month. "I was 17 years old and when I came home, I bought a house, a Corvette, and two hookers. I was having a good time!"

Said Harris: "I like American and I'm a big Corvette fan, I've had seven of them in my lifetime, I really enjoy these new ones, they're really, really a super car."
