Holiday Wrapping Paper!

We are so excited about our new holiday gift wrap! We've always been more on the diy when it comes to gift wrap, passing up generic cartooned or over the top decorated papers for something a little more subtle... like brown paper we color and jazz up ourselves.

But then we got to thinking about those of you who are not as into diy as we are or don't have the time, but are still looking for something unique and (dare I say) a little more hip. So we decided to make our own screen printed wrapping paper for the upcoming holiday season. Available in 3 totally cool patterns (below from top) Evergreen, Ornaments, & Crafty Holiday. Our little Heck Yes sketchbook was quite the popular item when we released it earlier this year, but so many people were requesting that it be made into a print, that we finally decided we couldn't ignore the requests anymore!

Washington D.C. Trip & Crafty Bastards Show

Some photo's of my time spent in Washington D.C. last week. There was so much to see and my friend Maeghan and I covered a lot of ground in just 2 days!

The day of the show was pouring rain and windy, but it didn't seem to keep the crowds from coming. So a big thank you to everyone who stopped by and braved the cold! I didn't even have time to snap up nice pictures of our booth! We shared the space with the super sweet Susie Mey, who carries the cutest little baby clothes.

Now we're getting ready for the big holiday rush. So far we have 3 (possibly 4) shows lined up in the coming months so make sure to check the left column, under events and happenings, for one near you. And we have a few new items that will be released soon that we are very excited about too!

Crafty Bastards Show

We can hardly believe that the Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair is finally here! This will be our first time attending the show and our first show on the East coast as well, but we will not be the only ones representing the NW. Some of our amazing and talented friends will be there too. Check out the work of Matthew Porter, AMIRA jewelry, Schmancy, Ugly Baby Shower Art, and Arcane Arts!

We wanted to collaborate with as many people as possible and couldn't be more pleased at how this project turned out! If you live in Tacoma, or even if you don't, come to this years Block Party.

Sofia

We thought it was about time you met our 9 or 10ish year old cat Sofia. We picked her up on a whim one day, about 7 years ago, from a local Seattle animal shelter. She came with the name Dixie, but that was changed quickly. We think she likes the name we choose for her better than what they choose.

Like many animals they all have there particular quirks and Sofia is not short of her own. Here are a few in no particular order:

1. She really enjoys starring at the wall. Like, intently. There's nothing there, but she really finds comfort in this activity.
2. She does not like to cuddle and especially does not like being picked up (which explains these slightly awkward photos). However, she always wants us to know she is there. This is shown either by running right in front of us, almost causing us to trip as we avoid her, and lots of meowing.
3. Her food bowl is kept in the kitchen and she insists on eating every time we walk in that general direction. Sometimes she will just sit and stare at her food before eating, even though we think she knows she's not hungry. We think we know what caused this problem, but we'll let her deal with it in her own way.
4. She's not a very big cat, but watch out when she flops over to the side, she really lets it all hang out. But she's not ashamed and we admire that about her.
5. She snores. Loudly. She snores even when she's not sleeping. Sometimes she'll be starring at the wall (see #1) while snoring, so we'll give her a gentle nudge and she'll stop briefly. Only to return to snoring.
6. Unlike many cats we've had in the past growing up, she rarely cleans herself. We see this as an advantage to having to pick up hairballs.
7. She's an indoor cat, but once in awhile she'll manage to sneak out the front door, chew on a few blades of grass, only to cowardly run back inside when a car, person, bird, bug, or dandelion seed goes by.
8. She has never scratch us or another person. She keeps her claws to herself and the cardboard scratch pads we make for her.
9. She can do this thing with her eye where one stays shut for a really long time. So it's like a really long wink she's giving you.

All in all, she's a great cat. We really want to have a dog some day that we can take to the beach and for walks, but we don't tell Sofia this. We think she likes having us all to herself. But we'll see.

Two Local Shows This Week!

We love getting out and doing shows, especially when they're local and this week brings us two! Did you get a chance to check out The Seattle Square last year? Well it's back and this year the event will be every Thursday (except for the 1st Thursday of the month), now through the Fall, from 4pm to 9pm. It's held in Occidental park and is full of amazing handmade artists and vintage vendors.

And this Sunday, July 24th, come check out the many talented Tacoma and surrounding area artists at King's Books. This will be our second Tacoma is for Lovers Show, we can't wait! Hope you can make it out to one of these events, we'd love to see you!

SF and the Renegade Craft Show

We're back from San Francisco and we'd thought we'd share a few photos from our trip as well as from the Renegade show. Above is the glorious Golden Gate Bridge at sunset. It was much colder that night than the picture shows, but also really beautiful.

When we arrived at the Fort Mason Center we were amazed at how large the space was. It was huge! And filled with so many great crafters and artists.

A few lonely balloons were left behind from some event previous to Renegade.

Trip would not have been complete without checking out the local surf.

We decided to head back home via 101 for part of the way so we could enjoy a little time amongst the beautiful redwood forest. We loved visiting San Francisco and each time we go back we seem to learn more about places in the city to go and see; can't wait until next time! And thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and chatted us up for a bit, it makes everything we do so much more pleasurable.

Produce Bags!

We first started selling our handmade produce bags almost 3 years ago when we set up our booth at a local Spokane farmers market. Since then we've been selling them at pretty much every show, big or small, that we attend. We have no idea what has taken us so long to get them in our shop!

The great thing about cotton produce bags is that they breath, they are super durable (we stitch them using a French seam), and they actually help keep your produce fresh longer. Just get the bag wet in cool water, wring them out, place your greens inside the bag and place in the crisper drawer. Plus they're super cute, we get compliments on them all the time when we get our produce!

We currently have 3 designs, as seen here, but for now they're only available in one size. Check out our shop for more details.

Renegade Craft San Francisco

We are so incredibly excited to be heading down to San Francisco for this years Renegade Craft Show! A 2-day show (July 9th and 10th) featuring over 200 handmade artists, it's going to be awesome!

We've only been to this beautiful city once and it was a short stop, but we immediately fell in love with the bay area. If any of you have any recommendations we're totally open to hearing them, so please share! We'll be packing up our car and heading south in less than 2 weeks, we'll tell you about how the show, as well as all the traveling goes when we get back! Stay tuned for our adventure...

Things have been a little busy around here and Summer is off to a great start! We wanted to share with you a few new things in the shop, just in case you missed them! Above is our "Kitchen Flowers" poster. Perfect for all you culinary and garden lovers.

We added a new sketchbook called "Heck Yes." It's been getting a lot of love. We should also mention that our sketchbooks now come lined and unlined. Take your pick!

And our "Stormy Day" large zip pouch. Perfect for toting around all your odds and ends or art supplies.

To Mt. St.Helens, Portland & Back

Last Friday was such a nice sunny day that by mid-morning we found ourselves headed south to visit Mt. St.Helens. I hadn't been since I was little, right after it's 1980 eruption and Scott had never been. We planned on hiking, but when we got there, we didn't realize there would be so much snow still left.

We also didn't plan on it being this crowded for a Friday in late May. But there were people everywhere. We decided to go back down and hike around the base of the mountain. The lake we walked around was so incredibly blue and there were signs of beavers all around. Unfortunately we didn't see any. Since we were so far south we decided to keep going a little further and catch up with my cousin who recently moved to Portland.

Did you know they have a tool library?! This is such a great idea (Tacoma, you should get on board). We stopped there before heading to the bike shop where I picked out a new helmet. Then we rode around stopping at all the vintage stores and shops.

Of course I couldn't even go on a mini vacation without getting away from the sewing machine. My cousin asked if I could "teach" him to sew a new pillow cover. Pretty much ended up doing them both myself, but they turned out pretty good and he did let us stay the night. It was a great mini vacation, just what we needed before diving into our marathon-like work week!

NW Folklife Festival

We had a great time vending at the Etsy Rain Show as well as the Crafty Wonderland show this past weekend. Now we're gearing up for our biggest show yet, The Folklife Festival! A four day event that's going to keep us going for 12 hours each day. Just thinking about it makes our heads spin, but we're super excited and busy re-stocking all our products. It's only 2 1/2 weeks away, so mark your calendar now!

New Cards + Craft Shows

Also, we are excited to be starting off the craft show season this weekend with two of our favorite shows. I will be in Seattle at the Intiman Theatre for the Etsy Rain Spring Show and Scott will be heading down to Portland, OR for the Spring Crafty Wonderland show. Both are this Saturday, May 7t. Come and say hello to one of us if you are going to be in the area!

We have a new print in the shop that we're pretty excited about! This one is called At Home Near The Sea and it probably defines our favorite place to be more than any words ever could.
