Hello everyone,

Well, today at 6:00 pm everything ENDS. Just about 90% of you are completely done and have passed the course. For those of you with corrections, please stop by the desk and finish them before the 6:00 pm deadline.

I will be posting grades on Friday, May 16th.

If you have corrections to make on your remaining UNIV 106 assignments, you will have until 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 15th to fix them. You must still check with the reference desk to make sure you have no corrections to make.

The May 15th deadline is for those who have corrections to make, NOT late assignments. All assignments were due on Friday, May 9th at 6:00 pm. If you didn't meet the deadline please do not turn in any ungraded assignments as they will not be counted.

If you experienced dire circumstances that did not allow you to complete the course please see me directly and we can discuss your situation.

Once you complete the course feel free to take your assignments home with you, otherwise they will be recycled.

Hi all,

We've been swamped by last minute submissions for UNIV 106 assingments. Keep at it! So now that you have turned in all your COMPLETED assignments by 6:00 pm today (when the library closes), you must still check with the reference desk to make sure you have no corrections to make. Assignments/questions left blank will not be counted.

If you have corrections, you'll have until 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 15th, to fix them. Mind you, the May 15th deadline is for those who have corrections to make, NOT late assignments.

Tomorrow is IT!

Friday, May 9th, at 6:00 pm is the last day to turn in any and all completed assignments for UNIV 106.

If we find a blank question it will count as an incomplete assignment and will not be accepted. No exceptions!

If you do have corrections to make you'll have additional time to work on them AFTER the May 9th deadline...but any last assignments have to be completed and turned in tomorrow.

The good news is that the Library will be open 24 hours a day next week, from May 11th thru May 15th, so you'll have plenty of time to fix any mistakes.

Classes end this Friday, May 9th!

You knew this was gonna happen, right? Well, classes end this Friday (5/9) and all your assignments for UNIV 106 have to be DONE by that date.

If you haven't started it's not too late as the course can be completed in a couple of days--granted, it's a lot of busy work but it can be done.

So finish those assignments and turn them in, will ya? But just remember, incomplete assignments (missing answers, blank pages, etc.) will not be accepted!

For those brave souls that actually finish all the assignments AND turn them in by the Friday, May 9th deadline, you will have until May 15 to make any corrections.

Last Target Date: May 2nd!

This Friday, May 2nd at 6:00 pm is the last target date of the semester for UNIV 106. This means, of course, that the semester is winding down and soon you'll want to have ALL your assignments done before the course deadline on May 9th--that's next week!

Egads: misssing map!

For those of you working on assignment 16, particularly set 1, question 7, please be advised that the map in question for Mobile, Alabama has gone AWOL. Can't find it. Walked away. Not in the folder.

So, in the meantime, please print a different set, or pick a different question from another set. Either way, please have someone at the reference desk check your question to make sure you get credit for it.

The map will turn out eventually, but until that time comes please follow the directions above.

3rd Target Date Approaches

Hi everyone!

The third Target Date is fast approaching, which means you ought to have all assignments done up to number 16 by this Friday, April 4th. The next, and final, Target Date will be May 2nd.

I strongly caution you not to wait to get your assignments done until the very (and bitter) end. The assignments may not be hard--you could do all of them on a weekend--but they do take time AND you must check the reference desk for any corrections too.

You know you won't get in trouble if you miss a Target Date, right? These dates are just time lines to keep your pace of the course going without undue stress. As always, if you have questions/issues about the course, assignments, etc., by all means ask us at the reference desk.

Albertsons Library Student Focus Groups

Albertsons Library needs your help! We are continually assessing our services, collections, and physical space, and we need input from both undergraduate and graduate students to help us plan for the future. To that end, the library is hosting two graduate student focus groups this semester:

GRADS:
Mon 4/14 (11:45-12:30)
Thur 4/17 (12:15-1).

UNDERGRADS:
Wed 4/16 (11:45-12:30)
Tue 4/22 (12:15-1)
Fri 4/25 (11:45-12:30)
Thur 5/1 (12:15-1).

All are invited, even those who rarely or never use the library! You'll be part of a small group of fellow BSU students discussing the library and library-related issues. Refreshments will be served, and we will offer participants a small token of appreciation (ie, Starbucks or bookstore gift card).

Friday, March 7th marks the second Target Date for UNIV 106. This means you should have finished assignments one through twelve.

Target Dates are just that: a way to keep you in pace with the course. You could, of course, finish the course whenever you want; it's completely up to you (as long as you are completely done by May 9th, 2008).

We've passed the February 8th Target Date, which means that most of you should be finished with assignments 1-6. Some of you already finished the course, which is fantastic and my congratulations go to all of you.

If you haven't started then you still have plenty of time. The Target Dates are there to guide you as you complete the assignments. You won't be in trouble if you miss one (or all of 'em!), but use them as the targets that they are to give you an indication of where you should be in the course.

Hope all is well with all of you and, should you have any questions about the course by all means let me or whoever is at the reference desk know.

Slight Text Changes to UNIV 106

I've had to do some slight changes to both chapter texts and assignments for UNIV 106 to reflect our new website redesign. If you already printed all your assignments please note the following changes:

Most chapters: Instances of the sentence "Find Articles" have been changed to "Articles, Databases"
Most chapters: Instances of "Find Books and Media" have been changed to "Books, e-Books, Media"
Assignment 4, question 2: changed "Quick Limits" to "Set Limits"

All in all this shouldn't affect your assignments much, but if you're confused about a term, or if something doesn't make sense, let someone at the Reference Desk know.

You should be asking questions anyhow ;-)

Permission numbers: I have 'em!

It's too late to register for UNIV 106 (Library Skills) unless you get a permission number from the instructor. Some of you already registered this way but if you know someone who wants to take UNIV 106 just have them contact me and I'll gladly give them a permission number.

I have several more burning a hole in my BroncoWeb account, but be quick about it as the last day to register with a permission number is Monday, February 4th.

Welcome to the Library & UNIV 106!

Albertsons Library welcomes you to another exciting (yeah, I mean it) school semester in 2008! There are lots of changes happening in the Library and its website. We have a new look, have increased our database list to over 230+ research databases and indexes, and made it easier to find content with our new button.

We're gearing up for regular semester hours, but the Library will be closed on Monday, January 21st, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day/Idaho Human Rights Day. Regular hours will go into effect on Tuesday, January 22, when classes begin. Please check out the Library's Hours page for a complete list of regular and holiday hours.

But, once school officially starts you'll need to make your way to the Library's Reference Desk and check yourself "in" for UNIV 106, aka "Library Skills". All you have to do is give us your name, we'll give you a quick orientation to the course (which is available at http://library.boisestate.edu/skills/) and off you go.

UNIV 106, the Library Skills course for Fall semester 2007 is officially over! Congratulations to everyone who finished the course.

Tomorrow (Thursday, 12/20) marks the end of the semester and the last day you can make corrections for your UNIV 106 assignments by 6:00 pm. Although I sincerely hope you don't wait until the last second!

If you turned in your assignments, please make sure you have no corrections or mistakes. Simply ask at the Reference desk to see if you completed everything correctly and to find out if you passed the course.

If you haven't turned in all your assignments by now (completed assignments, mind you) then please don't bother. We will not accept any more assignments.

Only those individuals who turned in all completed UNIV 106 assignments by the 6:00 pm deadline on Friday, December 14, may check the reference desk for corrections. If you do have mistakes you have until this Thursday, December 20 at 6:00 pm (that's the end of the semester!) to have them corrected.

You will get credit only when you have successfully completed all the assignments.

If you passed the course, congratulations! Feel free to take your assignments home with you.
