EOLIS International Group had the same information from multiple sources. Following publication of the CNN story, Wendeen H. Eolis, CEO of EOLIS Intl Group, spoke with GBT counsel Benham Dayanim who confirmed for her all of the information herein.

In a letter signed by Laurent Tapie, the contents of which this writer has confirmed with Groupe Bernard Tapie’ outside counsel, the United States Department of Justice has signed off on an unprecedented agreement with GBT, allowing Tapie to “buy” FTP’s full assets from the Justice Department—subject to approval of FTP.

I. Upon approval by Full Tilt, the deal can and will be put in place as follows:

FTP agrees to forfeit all of its assets to the United States in consideration of the Government’s dismissal of the forfeiture action against the companies comprising FTP.

The DOJ takes possession of FTP’s assets for the purpose of selling them in their entirety to GBT for the sum of $80,000,000 and on the understanding that GBT will re-establish FTP based on the following understandings:

GBT will hold at least a majority interest in the company

None of the current FTP directors will be permitted to hold shares in the company

The Agreement does not bar any other shareholders from owning shares in the company

With respect to FTP’s US customers, the Agreement provides that such customers can submit petitions to the US government to “request compensation for their losses”

With respect to players outside of the US, the Agreement provides that GBT will, “repay or make whole,” all of those customers

The US customer list is a part of the assets, but GBT has no plans of any kind to utilize that list except to assist the DOJ to identify customers who are due or entitled compensation, according to GBT counsel, Behnam Dayanim.

Mr. Dayanim says, “The next step is to obtain an agreement from the Full Tilt Companies.” Dayanim emphasizes, “I anticipate it will happen,” explaining his optimism; “It allows for players to be repaid, and resolves the FTP forfeiture action by the Government.”

It should be noted that there is nothing in the signed agreement between GBT and DOJ to suggest any relationship whatsoever between the proposed resolution of the April 15 forfeiture action (as amended September 19), and the DOJ’s prosecution of any of the defendants in the April 15 indictment, U.S. v. Scheinberg, et. al which notably includes FTP CEO and board member Ray Bitar, among others.

Editor’s Note: Wendeen Eolis is CEO of Eolis International Group, a legal/government affairs consultancy with 40+ years of experience in the gaming space, and related responsibilities during her stint as 1st assistant and senior advisor to former New York Governor George E. Pataki. During her spare time, Wendeen became the first woman to cash in the main event of the World Series of Poker and counts six more WSOP prize-winning finishes to her credit.

$1,500 poker promo at Tropicana

The new Tropicana poker room is all snazzy and comfortable (plus right next to the bar, so fast drink service.
Trop is now trying to switch things up with special promotions, including a novel splash pot in a cash game that acts like a tournament.
Play any cash game for 15 hours between Nov. 21-27 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and you'll qualify.
Then come back and play a 3/6 limit cash game Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time, the number of pots you take down of $40 or more will be tallied. 1st receives $300, 2nd receives $200, 3rd receives $150, and 4th receives $100.
All other players will evenly split the remaining $750 in the pool.
Not bad, Trop! Kudos for thinking of something brand new that we haven't seen before. And who knows, maybe this will bring back limit poker.

Breaking: Full Tilt Poker reaches agreement to sell company

The LA Times is reporting that a group of unnamed European Investors have come to terms to purchase a majority stake in the online poker site. The deal would also facilitate the repayment of US player funds that have been frozen since April 15, 2011 –known as Black Friday in the poker world. While no monetary numbers were given, the sale would apparently see a large enough infusion of cash to cover the estimated $150 million owed to US players, as well as to settle Full Tilt Poker’s part of the $3 billion civil suit filed by the US government in conjunction with the criminal indictments that were handed out in the case. It was also discovered that Phil Ivey, who filed a $150 million breach of contract lawsuit against the company he has represented for over five years, will ask for the case to be dismissed in light of the new developments. According to Ivey’s lawyer, David Chesnoff, “Mr. Ivey intends to dismiss his lawsuit as he believes Full Tilt is taking steps to see that the players are paid," PokerNews.com is also reporting that they have spoken to several sources at Full Tilt Poker who corroborated the LA Times story, however, they also stated that there were still “a few remaining obstacles that need to be cleared before a deal is confirmed.”

Poker Stars to let U.S. players back

PokerStars has made agreement with the DOJ that will let U.S. players play for real money again Read this article http://tinyurl.com/42plx7b

U.S. Players can not play on PokerStars

I just log into PokerStars was going to play the .55 cent tournament. A large security hole was found on the Cake Poker network the other day. The security hole means that information with bad encryption (not SSL like many other sites) is being sent between Cake Poker's servers and players, which makes it easy for a hacker to crack the code and see hole cards, login details and other information.

Lee Jones, cardroom manager at Cake Poker, explained in a forum thread that he had asked the security team to look over its security a few months ago after that he had heard about another poker site where the security was lacking when connected to an unencrypted wireless network.

The security team explained to him that they had no problems whatsoever and that there was nothing to worry about. But as we all know now - the security team's words were just taken out of the blue as it's now proved that there clearly is a security hole in the code. However, according to the ones who found the security hole and cracked the code, it's only possible for a hacker to crack the code if he's in range of a poker players unencrypted wireless network.

We will probably hear a lot more about this in the next few days. For now, we can just hope that Cake Poker takes care of the issue ASAP so that its players can feel 100% safe.

Here are few tips from Lee Jones on how you can avoid to be exposed for cheating.

* Make sure that your computer is secure. Run anti-virus and spyware detection software, don't share your computer's password with anybody else, etc.
* In terms of network security, the most secure thing you can do is play on a wired network. Plugging your computer into a router or modem with an Ethernet cable is the best defense against your packets being sniffed.
* If you are on a wireless home, dorm, or other network that is WPA2 protected, that's your next most secure solution.
* We encourage you not to play on a wireless network which is not password protected. For instance, if the coffee shop around the corner just plugged a wireless router into their cable connection and announced "Free Wi-Fi", you shouldn't be playing on the Cake Network there. It's worth noting, in fact, that you shouldn't be doing anything of financial importance over an unprotected wireless network (poker, banking, etc).

Gus Hansen's Never-Ending Nightmare

Gus Hansen had a terrible year at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables in 2009. At the end of the year he had lost $5 million dollars and was far the biggest loser. It can be very hard to get back in business and believe in your own game after such a nightmare year, but somehow Gus managed to keep a cool head and started off 2010 in the best possible way by winning about $2 millions.

However, the winning streak didn't last for long and in the last couple of months he has lost most of what he won. Last weekend was especially tough on Gus Hansen as he ended up losing almost $400k within a timeframe of 24 hours. Since 2007 Gus Hansen has now lost about $7 million dollars.

The question now is how long he can afford to play high stakes and lose like this before his entire bankroll is gone. Personally I think Gus Hansen has to take very good look at his own game and play lower stakes until he finds the way back to his game again, but somehow I have the feeling that he has no plans whatsoever to do something like that.
