American Idol rocker Chris Daughtry keeps his finger on the pulse by doing an acoustic cover of Lady GaGa's Poker Face. Daughtry's gravelly tones bring a new dimension to the song, although we're not sure if that's a credit to him as a performer or GaGa as a songwriter!

Thug Story...Taylor Swift is actually pretty witty!

Yes, you may love her or hate her but Taylor Swift has teamed up with T-Pain to record a hilarious parody of her hit single Thug Story. I think the video shows that the girl doesn't take herself seriously and while some of her songs are a little needy and desperate, I still think she's one of the brightest musical stars to come out of the US in a long time. Basically, in short, I wanna marry her! But enjoy the video!

SONG REVIEW: They may have recently topped both the UK and Irish Singles Chart alongside 'Prince Of Grime' Tinchy Stryder recently but N-Dubz as a whole have yet to achieve that all important breakthrough hit. Despite gaining legions of fans (including myself), releasing seven singles and setting forth the poppy Strong Again a while back, could Wouldn't You give N-Dubz the commercial success they deserve?

Take That - Said It All - Single Review

Yet another Take That single is winging its way into the charts. In celebration of Said It All, here's is my six-point review of the single:

Gary Barlow's yelping falsetto is fast becoming one of the most overused devices in pop music today. Yes, more than autotune. It seems that every song Take That do these days is riddled with his bleating falsetto, which does not make up for the lack of emotion in his voice.
Mark Owen's voice sounds increasingly feeble - not just on this track, but when they performed on Jonathan Ross the other week. His little piece at the end of the song sounds like a drunk Mancunian pensioner at a karaoke night.
The song itself is a solid pop/rock ballad and evokes U2 and Coldplay in its shimmering guitar work and build-up to an epic crescendo.
Unfortunately, it's horribly derivitive as a direct result of this. Sure, it might appeal to the more mature pop fans, but after Patience, Rule The World and Greatest Day, this type of TT tune is becoming bland and boring. Rule The World (my personal favourite) worked so well because it was unique, but Barlow has repeated the trick so many times it's becoming like a production line of adult-oriented ballads.
I still can't escape the fact that the song itself is actually very good. Yes, it could have been constructed from Gary's "How To Write A Hit Single" instruction manual, but Said It All is a superbly constructed pop song albeit highly likely to be forgotten as soon as the airplay stops.
You really can have too much of a good thing.

Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers - Single Review

Dizzee Rascal's Bonkers is going to be anthem for a new generation of crazy bitches. You know the kind - the waaay too drunk loud girls at the club with their fingers pointed skyward as this starts to play. "Bonkerrrrrssss!!!!" they'll shriek at each other before bopping around to this. Boobs will fall out of dresses due to vigorous dancing. The runt of the pack will probably vomit all over the floor when it all ends.

The point is, whereever boisterous girls go to par-tay, this song will go with them.

None of this is a criticism, because Dizzee has managed to cram a ton of urban goodness into this goofy track. Bonkers is one of those songs that has a simple hook and shout-out lyrics that you remember but can never sing back in the right sequence.

Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young form Danger Minx

In an Alesha Dixonesque move, Jessica Taylor is planning to use her Dancing On Ice exposure to revive her music career. She's teamed up with her former Liberty X bandmate, Kelli Young, to start a pop-dance group called Danger Minx.

The duo will be making some uptempo dance club style tracks, which sounds a little bit like Booty Luv, doesn't it? Wait for the war of words in the papers - Booty Luv are a gobby pair at the best of times.

Kelli says -

The Liberty X fans will be a bit older now. But we're making music that we like to hear. Whoever that appeals to - it's all good with us. People in their 50s, people in their teens, whoever it is. We're not aiming for anyone in particular, we're just making music we want to hear on the radio.

I'm looking forward to hearing a snippet of what the duo sound like, although do I need to preach on about how the pop scene is overcrowded with girlie acts these days? In their late 20's now, can the girls snag an audience? Should Jessica have carved out a daytime telly presenting role instead?

The Nolans Return!

The ladies responsible for 'I'm In The Mood For Dancing', have announced that they will be making a come back to the music business this year.

Coleen, 44, Bernie, 48, Linda, 50, and Maureen, 55 - will form 'The Nolans' with former members Denise and Anne have deciding to give it a miss this time round.

Described as the "ultimate girls' night out", the 'I'm In The Mood Again Tour' kicks off in Nottingham on October 11.

"It's an incredible feeling to have the opportunity to get out there and perform live with the girls, something I never thought I'd get to do again but that I've missed massively over the last few years!" Coleen said.

"It will be so emotional to be with my sisters again and I know we are going to give you all a fantastic night out - we've been waiting a long time for this and we're going to pull out all the stops."

New Artist: Paloma Faith!

All i can say is Wowwwy. Im in awe of her at the moment...i just watched her on Channel 4 introducing. Her Style is Amazing, she would have liked to have lived in the 40's she says but she doesnt know how she wouldve coped with war. She has a background in fashion in college etc. Really stands out.

She is also an aspiring actress and was the Emo in St. Trinians, also filmed with Heath Ledger before he died and when asked to choose between preferring to win an oscar or a grammy, she chose to make no comment. haha.

People have made comparisons to her being like Duffy and Winehouse. She said she feels honoured to be compared to them but really tries to be herself and i think she pulls it off, she has a really nice tone to her voice and is very excentric but nowhere near Lady Gaga extreme. :)

Jonas Brothers - Paranoid - Single Review

Disnified pop-rock trio the Jonas Brothers are back with new single, Paranoid. Before we begin, you should clearly not expect to hear a pop-rock cover of the Black Sabbath classic. (Look it up, kiddies)

Much as it will put a big dent in my music reviewer credibility, I actually like these guys. They're not pretending to be rockers (I'm looking at you, Metro Station), and they're a wholesome pop act. OK, who knows what sexual deviance they get up to in their spare time, but the image is wholesome without making me want to vomit (thinking of Hanson now).

Paranoid sees the boys playing a straight-ahead radio-friendly rock track. It's a bit of a progression from the sounds on their first album, but not much. And although on first listen it's a fairly unremarkable song, it will grow on you through repeated airplay.
