Colleen was abducted and held captive for seven years, during which she suffered an unimaginable fate. Forced to live in a coffin-like box under his bed for up to 22 hours a day and repeatedly tortured, Colleen became a slave. Her captor’s terrible psychological hold was so strong that she went out to work and even visited her family during this time, before she was eventually able to break free.

Now in an exclusive interview, for the first time Colleen tells her incredible story, alongside members of her family, the police, prosecutors and the jury who heard a case case which shocked America, exploring in the most dramatic way the real meaning of consent, coercion and control.

Colleen had been picked up by Cameron Hooker - an unassuming 23-year-old lumberjack - his wife Janice and their eight-month old baby. With no police record and no history of family deviance, Hooker was, to the outside world, a normal man. But he had become obsessed with bondage and extreme sexual practices. Now, he was going to take things further.

Down in the basement, his plan was to break Colleen. For days he suspended her from hooks, whipped her and placed her on a home-made torture rack. Then he placed her in a coffin-sized box, blindfolded and with chains wrapped around her, for nearly four months.

Then, one night, he presented her with a contract. He told her that he was part of “the Company”, a powerful organization which kept young women as slaves, and that if she made any attempt at escape “the Company” would violently hunt both her and her family down. Colleen signed the contract and became known by her slave name - ‘K’.

As time wore on, Colleen’s plight became more and more bizarre. In between torture and captivity in the box, she was made to do domestic chores. Janice had a second child and Colleen assumed the role of family nanny. She was allowed to go jogging and forced to work in a local motel to help with the family’s finances.

Hooker allowed her to phone home, and then, incredibly, to visit her family. Despite their suspicions, none of her family wanted to confront Colleen, afraid she might be in a cult. Convinced she was being watched all the time by “the Company”, and too frightened to tell the truth, Colleen had to pretend she was Hooker’s fiancée. She got back in his car and went back to an even worse life: for the next three years, Hooker forced her to live in a box he’d built underneath his bed.

All this time, Janice knew that Colleen was being kept as a slave in her house. She too had been a victim of his sadism and had done a deal with him: he could keep a slave and in return Janice would no longer be subjected to sado-masochistic sex. But, eventually, when Hooker began talking about getting more slaves, and worried about what he might do to their daughters, Janice finally told Colleen that no such thing as “the Company”. Realigns the one thing that held Colleen as a slave was a lie, she ran away and for the first time in seven years, was in control of her life.

Hooker was arrested and charged. But Colleen faced one more nightmare: at the trial, his lawyer argued that she had stayed with him freely and produced astonishing letters in which she declared her undying love for Hooker. Now, the jury had to make up their own minds.

Over the past six decades as consort to the Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh has been a constant figure in the lives of the British people, a fixed point in a changing landscape. But he still remains something of an enigma.

Bombastic and autocratic say his critics. Colourful and stimulating say his admirers. Famous for his so-called gaffes, while some of his initiatives have shown him to be a man ahead of his time, such as The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which has been an outstanding success and imitated around the world.

Granted unparalleled access over recent months, ITV has followed the Duke, producing a fascinating chronicle of the solo portfolio HRH has carved out for himself. The films include an exclusive conversation between the Duke and Sir Trevor McDonald at the Duke’s Sandringham private estate and never-before-seen cine footage of his travels around the world, taken from private film archive which he shot himself.

For the past 50 years the Duke has been a keen conservationist, with International President of the World Wide Fund for Nature amongst his roles. Soon after being released from hospital having been treated for a chest infection, the Duke invited Sir Trevor McDonald for a tour of the Sandringham private estate and the conservation projects he has initiated there, plus to talk on camera about his life’s work.

During his conversation with Sir Trevor, the Duke spoke passionately about this conservation work, which he has championed around the world – as well as in his own back garden at Sandringham.

“Conservation is not a romantic business, it’s a very practical business - trying to ensure as many different species of wildlife can exist, which means in some cases controlling some so the others can have a better chance,” he said.

The Duke of Edinburgh also puts into practice his conservation beliefs. For example, he was one of the first to drive an electric car, and he installed solar panels at Sandringham as far back as the 1970s, before it was fashionable to do so. Many of the fields on the estate have big margins at the edges which remain uncultivated in order to encourage wildlife, and the Duke implemented a programme of hedge-planting some 20 years ago to encourage birds and other wildlife.

At 86-years-old, the Duke shows no signs of slowing his commitment to public life. Cameras follow HRH on a range of royal visits and appointments including one for the Commonwealth Heads of Government in Uganda last November, where the Duke squeezed a flying visit by light aircraft to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, which he first visited with the Queen back in 1954. Cameras also film HRH at the recent state visit of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his new bride Carla Bruni. Throughout the programmes several eminent individuals including Sir David Attenborough, journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil, and Charles Clarke MP offer their assessment on the contribution the Duke has made to widely differing areas of public life.

Charles Clarke said: “The Duke of Edinburgh is an example of commitment to public service who has kept up to date in a very fast changing world. He’s a very important model.”

Andrew Neil said: “The world’s not fair. And if the press concentrates more on the Duke’s gaffes than on his good charitable works then I guess that’s just the way the world is.”

He adds: “Prince Philip is not a man who forgets grudges and I think he bears them pretty well. It is something rather endearing. Given that so much of the British upper class put on a false image, if he’s got a grudge against you he let’s you know. Not necessarily in a rude way, he just snubs you.”

With a crèche where the girls can leave their babies, it is not a typical high school. It is one of a small number of specialist pupil referral units around the UK for schoolgirls who choose not to terminate their pregnancies or for whom termination isn’t an option.

Teachers, specialist midwives and health workers help the students prepare for their labour and motherhood while they also study for SATs and GCSEs. Lessons range from English, maths and cookery to safe sex, birth plans, bottle feeding and baby baths.

This insightful and touching documentary shows the work of the dedicated headmistress and staff and intertwines the girls’ personal stories with their daily life at school, following some of the pupils as they struggle balancing being a teen mum with continuing their education.

This film is part of the Bare Facts initiative from BBC Learning. It aims to provide information, support and advice to parents on how to communicate with their children about love, sex and relationships. “I’d like to see a new Wicksy-style man arrive in Walford,” Santer told the Daily Star. “A real charmer but a bit of a rogue at the same time.”

Speaking about the imminent departure of Rob Kazinsky, Santer added: “He will go out in spectacular style.

“We’ve just started talking about his exit and the ideas that are flying around are very exciting and fitting to such a great character.

“I’m not giving anything away though, it’s far too early. It does mean we need a new 20-something fella.”

Actress, Julie Hesmondalgh, is to return to Coronation Street according to The Mirror.

The actress was allowed to take a twelve month break from the ITV soap last year due to exhaustion, but is due to return to our screens after the summer.

A source told The Mirror: “Julie just wanted to take time off and do normal things like take her daughter to school. Re-charging her batteries and being a mum was top of the agenda.

“Julie is such a popular member of the show that she really has been missed.”

Doctor Who actor, David Tennant, and Pushing Daisies star, Anna Friel, have been voted the sexiest man and woman on TV.

In a survey carried out by the Hallmark Channel and completed by almost 1600 people, Tennant has 23% swooning in front of their screens, while around 20% have their eye on Anna Friel.

The survey was supposed to examine the effects of sex appeal on keeping people hooked on their favourite TV shows.

A Hallmark Channel spokesman said: “Our ongoing research into what makes great gripping drama has revealed that a sexy male or female lead can make a real difference to the success of a new series.

“If you were creating the ideal on-screen TV couple it would arguably be David and Anna, but you wouldn’t want to see them doing anything that distracts from the plot!”

The Fashion Project is brand new for ITV2 this autumn and each week the studio audience, as well as the viewers at home, will be immersed within the glamorous world of high street fashion. Throughout the series Abigail, Michelle and George will celebrate the UK’s fashion credentials and of course expose all of the fashion faux-pas.

Every episode will feature a celebrity guest, a live band, a catwalk and a fashion hungry audience. The viewers will be absorbed in a total fashion experience - whether this is a sneaky peak into a celeb’s much-coveted wardrobe, having an A-list stylist help make over an audience member or giving the viewers the top tips for the season ahead. No style stone will be left unturned, as every fashion essential is put to the test. EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has revealed that she never intends to move away from the council estate she grew up on.

Cheryl receives good pay for her role as Heather in Eastenders, but will never move house as she doesn’t want to have to get a mortgage.

“I still live on a council estate in south-east London. I grew up there and I don’t really want to move away,” Cheryl told The People. “I’m a real local girl. My son likes it there and so does my husband. We’re normal, but the real reason is that I don’t want to get a mortgage.

“This industry is so up and down that I don’t want to get in financial trouble. I have managed to pay off all of my debts so now I don’t want to get into any more.”
