In the final episode of the series, Caroline journeys to the New Forest. The park, which is between the counties of Hampshire and Wiltshire, was first discovered by William the Conqueror over 900 years ago. It’s best known for its ancient woods, open heaths, beautiful coastline and abundance of wild animals.

Caroline first enjoys a hot air balloon over the park and, despite her initial nerves, enjoys the unique view. She comments, “Whenever I see balloons I always think, I wonder what they’re thinking those people, are they looking at what I’m doing in my garden and things like that? And the answer is, yes, that’s exactly what you’re doing.”

Some of the park’s most famous residents are the New Forest ponies, which are born in the wild and are often completely untamed, even though they all have owners. Caroline meets Rob Maton, whose job it is to look after the animals in the forest. He has been asked to help catch a four month year old foal and its mother, in order to tame it to be sold as a riding pony. Owner Lucinda gallops alongside the pony to tire it out before leading it towards a pen. Caroline and Rob wait at the pen, ready to stand their ground and holler at the wild ponies to prevent them escaping.

The new forest is also home to one of the UK’s best-known country fayres – The Romsey Agricultural Show. The show started over 170 years ago and today showcases the very best of British farming. With over 90 food stalls competing for best produce, Caroline is keen to sample as much as possible including artisan chocolate and country fudge. She later presents the winning Best Local Food Stall before attending the much-loved dog show.

Caroline then meets Jo Hedger who is not only a tree surgeon, but also travels the country competing in tree climbing tournaments. Caroline agrees to take on two time world champion Jo and is up for the challenge telling us, ““I was rubbish at climbing trees when I was a little girl and I have absolutely no reason to believe I’ll be any better at it now I’m a middle-aged woman, but I’m prepared to give it a go.” However, halfway up the tree Caroline starts to feel a bit shaky and peculiar and admits defeat.

In the heart of the park is the Pig Hotel and Restaurant which was once a Royal hunting lodge. Forager Gary Evely”s job is to gather the food that grows wild in the forest in order for it to be served in the restaurant just a few hours later. Despite their being over 3,000 varieties of mushroom growing in the forest, only 20 are of interest to Gary. Caroline admits, “there’s something almost meditative about being out here in the woods and looking for mushrooms, concentrating so hard on the ground and looking for shapes and colours, it’s incredibly relaxing.” After her hard work Caroline joins the head chef to cook the mushrooms she found, along with a restaurant speciality of venison, in a wood oven.

Caroline then meets Marcus Webster who has been paragliding on the New Forest coastline for more than eight years, taking to the skies with his dog William. Finally, Caroline heads to the New Forest pony auction where all of the ponies sold in traditional guineas rather than pounds. At the auction, Lucinda’s pony is up for sale however it remains to be seen whether he’ll make his reserve.

As we previously reported, Lynsey Nolan is due to make a Hollyoaks comeback, and according to Karen Hassan, the actress who plays her, she is definitely out for revenge on Dr Browning!

Fans of the award-winning show will know how Karen’s character, Lynsey Nolan, was killed last year in one of the most exciting, best kept secret murders of all time.

Unbeknown to ANYONE, Karen had quit her role on the show, with the writers deciding to kill her character off in the surprise who-dunnit.

The storyline had us all guessing for weeks before it was finally revealed that her killer was none other than her boss, Dr Browning (Joseph Thompson).

Dr Browning was charged with the murder and sent to prison, but because of the cunning work of his barrister, Jim McGinn (Dan Tetsell), he was later released with the charges dropped after a loophole was found in the character reference of Lynsey’s ex, Riley Costello (Rob Norbury) in the separate trial for Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe).

However, it seems that whilst the rest of the village have forgotten what Dr Browning did and have moved on, he hasn’t!

Despite picking up his life where he left off, Dr Browning is still harbouring a deep sense of guilt over the murder, which is due to become apparent when Mercedes plans their wedding for the one year anniversary of Lynsey’s murder.

Whilst exact details of Lynsey’s return are still unknown, Karen Hassan has revealed a few bits of gossip to Digital Spy, in particular that Lynsey is set to ‘haunt’ Dr Browning!

She teased: “I’m definitely out to get him! It may not only be me that’s playing tricks on him, though. He’s going to get it from all sides, I think.”

Lindsey Butterfield

The actress, who is currently starring alongside her former Hollyoaks family Bronagh Waugh and Emmett J Scanlan in the new BBC2 thriller, The Fall, also revealed that new Hollyoaks character, nurse Lindsey Butterfield (Sophie Austin) will play a big part in the upcoming storyline.

A Hollyoaks source told Digital Spy when Lynsey’s return was revealed: “Lynsey was one of our most popular characters, so it’s been great to have Karen back on set again.

“The producers are keeping tight-lipped about the exact reasons for her return, but with the first anniversary of Lynsey’s death approaching, it’s very likely that Browning will be involved.”

After what could have been a complete disaster for Doctor Who producers when a US shipment of series 7 boxsets, including the series 7 finale, was accidentally delivered to a handful of fans weeks before schedule, and two weeks before the final had even aired on TV.

Desperate to keep the details of the series finale quiet, including the hint that the Doctor’s biggest secret would be revealed, show runner Steven Moffat literally begged those lucky enough (or unlucky enough, depending on which way you look at it), to keep schtum, even promising rewards if the ‘secret’ was kept out of the media.

Doctor Who brand manager Edward Russell took to social networking site, Twitter, after the mistake was realised to tweet fans:.

‘Production error in US means DW bluray shipped early,’ .

‘Let’s hope no one spoils it for those who want to enjoy it together on Sat. Please RT.’

Whilst the official Doctor Who Twitter account tweeted: ‘Some US DVDs of this series have gone out early. The #DoctorWho team would be hugely grateful if fans helped keep spoilers off the net.

‘Steven Moffat has promised if fans help keep the finale’s secrets, we’ll release a special video featuring Matt & David right after the ep!’

And it seems that his pleas worked as the episode went out last Saturday, as planned, without the ‘secret’ being published anywhere, and Steven Moffat has said that he is humbled by his fan’s loyalty and Dunkirk spirit.

And to show just how much he appreciates his fans discretion, he has released this following message to them:

“Never mind us blundering fools, check out the fans. 210 of them, with the top secret episode in their grasp – and because we asked nicely, they didn’t breathe a word. Not one,

“Even Doctor Who websites have been closing their comments sections, just in case anyone blurts. I’m gobsmacked. I’m impressed. Actually, I’m humbled. And we are all very grateful.”

Peter Andre is rethinking his career and the former pop star has admitted that he would just love to land a job on Downton Abbey.

The reality TV star is keen to move into acting, after he found out that his pal Keith Lemon would be starring in Coronation Street and he knows exactly which shows he’s hoping to audition for.

If he was going to land a soap role, he’d most like to star in Home and Away – as would we….we would much rather run along a beach than drink in the Woolpack – and Pete told New:

“If I could choose to appear on any soap, it’d have to be Home And Away.

“A lot of my Aussie friends like Isla Fisher and Melissa George were on the show and, as I own a few coffee shops, I reckon I’d slot in quite well as the Diner’s new boss!”

However, a more serious note, Andre would really like to appear on ITV’s period drama Downton Abbey and continued:

“Joking aside, the show I’d most like a part on is Downton Abbey.

“It’s a favourite of mine and I’d love to play one of the ‘downstairs’ characters.”

Fans of Downton Abbey across the globe were left broken-hearted last Christmas when show favourite, Matthew Crawley, met his maker when his car careered off the road, moments after meeting his first born son and heir.

Not just broken-hearted, but incredibly disappointed as Matthew’s death not only came a few weeks after that of his sister-in-law, Lady Sybil’s (Jessica Brown-Findlay), but the circumstances surrounding both were uncannily similar.

However, the fate of Matthew Crawley was in part out of the writers hands as, having been contracted for three series originally, when Dan decided to leave after the third series, it left only the Christmas Special for his exit, and given the class and stature of his character, and the time in which the show is set, death was the only acceptable explanation for his absence.

But, whilst we all sit and wonder how Downton can ever be the same without Matthew, the actor who played him, Dan Stevens has revealed that he stands by his decision as he feels it was the right thing to do.

Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, the actor explained:

“It excited me to follow my instinct which said this is the right time. It’s just a nice feeling to have when you can trust yourself,

“I didn’t make it (the decision to leave) alone. Everybody who knows and supports me was behind it and that made it feel the right thing to do.

“I had a great three years. I had a blast. I have some very fond memories. The cast were lovely. It was just time.

“Its success was unexpected for all of us. When we came back together for even series two we were a bit shell-shocked at the popularity, and by season three it almost seemed ridiculous how big the thing had become.”

However the actor insists that he gave the writers plenty of notice:

“I gave them plenty of warning – it wasn’t like I slammed the door and walked out.

“It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to face. On paper it looked mad to walk away, but it felt like the right time.’

“There was a lot of anticipation as to how I would go over, and when we got the scripts it was like, ‘OK, that’s the way it’s going to happen.’

“But having him die in a car crash on Christmas Day on British TV did seem nearly sacrilegious. You aren’t supposed to be killed off on Christmas Day!”

He obviously doesn’t watch any soaps then……

Downton Abbey is currently filming its third series which will see Matthew’s widow, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) having to cope with being a new mum, without her beloved husband, and is due to air this autumn.

Last Friday, I met with the cast and crew of hit ITV soap Emmerdale at the show’s headquarters in Leeds, and among the actors I spoke to on the day was Natalie J Robb, who of course plays Moira Barton…

And keen to learn more about Natalie herself, I asked, “What’s your favourite and least favourite thing about working on Emmerdale?”

She replie, “I think my least favourite thing is that we sometimes have to film in really cold weather…

“We get four seasons in one day here, with snow, rain, wind, so yeah, the weather’s not my favourite thing.

“But my favourite thing about it is working with all the actors, because I have such a laugh with them all. There’s never a day when I come in and I don’t laugh.”

I then asked Natalie which of the former cast members of Emmerdale she would bring back if she could, and she poignantly pointed to a picture of Clive Hornby, who of course played Jack Sugden.

She said, “He was a lovely man apparently. Kelvin [Fletcher who plays Andy Sugden] was telling me recently about scenes he used to play with Clive, and he said that he really helped him when he was a very young actor.”

Fans of Corrie will of course know that duplicitous Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) recently roped his girlfriend Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) into faking a robbery, during which valuable silk from Underworld was ‘stolen’, leaving his sister Carla Connor struggling to replace the material in time to get a vital order out…

And until next week, though she was always suspicious of the story about the robbery, Carla (Alison King) didn’t know for sure that her brother Rob had anything to do with it, however, she’s set to find out, and when she does, it could spell the end of her relationship with her sibling.

The drama begins on Monday, May 27 when Tracy becomes more and more concerned that Carla knows the truth. However, Rob reassures her that his sister has no clue, and together, they set about finding a buyer for the cloth.

Meanwhile, in the episode that airs on Wednesday, May 29, in a bid to source more silk, Carla’s factory manager – and close friend – Michelle (Kym Lomas) stumbles on a supplier who claims to have been offered the material Carla had stolen…

Taking down the number of the seller, it’s with a sense of foreboding that later, Carla dials and hears her fears confirmed.

On Thursday, May 30, as Tracy and Rob arrange a meeting with a buyer for the stolen silk, Carla gives her brother one last chance to come clean, asking if he has any contacts who could get hold of any silk with no questions asked. Will Rob have a change of heart and therefore unwittingly save his own bacon with Carla?

Well it seems not because on Friday, May 31, Carla’s set to catch Rob with the stolen silk, and she demands to know why he ripped her off. Unwavering, Rob’s defiant as he insists he was looking after number one, which he goes on to say is what Carla’s done all their lives.

Gutted by his betrayal will Carla call the police? Or has she got another plan to punish Rob?

Fans of Emmerdale will know that Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) has, since her boyfriend Cameron Murray betrayed her by having an affair with her Aunt, Chas Dingle, become a ruthless businesswoman who’s determined that nothing will stop her making vast sums of money…

And she doesn’t care if what she’s involved in is illegal, and she doesn’t care who she has to ride roughshod over to get what she wants.

And of course, she’s involved Robbie Lawson (Jamie Shelton) in her shady business dealings, however, he’s becoming fed up of being Debbie’s dogs body, and of having her treat him like something she just stepped in whenever it suits her…

So this week, as Kirk’s antics have left Debbie shaken to the core, Robbie sees his chance to make more mileage out of his boss by offering to be her bodyguard. And to that end, Debbie allows Robbie to move into her cottage with her so that she won’t have to be on her own.

Meanwhile, Debbie’s still alienating the locals, and this week, she especially annoys Jimmy King (Nick Miles) after he learns that she’s conducted some of her shady dealings over the knock-off booze at Pear Tree cottage.

However, by the time we see the episode that airs on Thursday, May 30, Debbie’s fairly sure the threat from Kirk is over, so she becomes less reliant on Robbie, much to his chagrin. So later, he lies to Debbie’s mum Charity (Emma Atkins) about Kirk being back, but when Charity relays the news to Debbie’s dad Cain (Jeff Hordley) she’s left very surprised by his response.

Then, on Friday May 31, when Robbie misreads the signals and makes a play for Debbie, she responds with a swift put down. But when Charity arrives, Robbie senses a change in the mood and leaves so that she can talk to Debbie alone…

Charity then tells Debbie about Kirk’s current situation, and Debbie’s shocked to realise the extent of Robbie’s betrayal. When Robbie returns, Debbie’s cold with him as she explains that she wants the night alone, adding that she needs time to think.

What’s going to be her next move?

Sharon Rickman hasn’t been overly lucky in love of late, given that her former fiancé Jack Branning dumped her at the altar, and then her rekindled romance with Phil Mitchell hit the rocks after he learned of her addiction to painkillers…

However, recidivist girlfriend Sharon (Letitia Dean) isn’t finding it easy being a single woman, and in next week’s episodes, we’ll see that she’s desperate to heal the rift with Phil (Steve McFadden) and equally as keen that she and her son Dennis move back in with him…

But still fuming over the fact that Sharon put little Lexi’s life at risk – by passing out after taking a combination of drink and drugs – Phil doesn’t want to know about getting back with Sharon, and he even accuses her of manipulating Dennis and using him to get her own way when the little boy tells Phil he misses him.

Things come to something of a head when, while attending Kim Fox’s leaving do, Phil’s former fiancé Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) gloats about Phil and Sharon splitting, so in order to stop her point scoring, Phil tries to present a united front by inviting Sharon and Dennis round for dinner.

Whilst at Phil’s, Sharon goes in for a kiss, however, Phil doesn’t respond and instead puts Sharon in her place and tells her she’s pathetic prompting Sharon to leave, humiliated.

However, the next day, Phil’s feeling lonely and he considers calling Sharon, but he’s interrupted when Lola (Danielle Harold) knocks at the door asking if he can look after Lexi so she can work. Although Phil doesn’t appear to be too happy, when he’s alone, it’s clear he’s thrilled to have Lexi for the day.

Meanwhile, in the episode that airs on Friday 31, at the B&B, Sharon barks at Dennis when he questions why they had to leave Phil’s. Shirley overhears and suggests she and Sharon have a drink together…

Surprisingly, the two begin to form a bond as Shirley opens Sharon’s eyes to the fact that she always stood by Phil, but the one time she messed up, he kicked her to the kerb.

Will Shirley’s words strike a chord with Sharon sufficiently that she thinks she’s well rid of Phil? And if so, what if he decides he wants Sharon back?

Vet Rhona Kirk (Zoe Henry) is of course battling with an addiction to strong prescription painkillers right now, and over the course of the last couple of weeks, her life has been going progressively downhill as she attempts to function while dealing with withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

So far, only her friend and partner in the vets’ surgery Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) knows Rhona’s secret, and as fans will know, Vanessa has been trying to help Rhona to wean herself off the drugs by supplying her with medicines from their surgery.

But things come to a head this week as it dawns on Vanessa that Rhona may not be making as much effort to come off the tablets as she says she is…

The drama begins on Thursday, May 30, when Rhona and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) learn from Marlon (Mark Charnock) that he and his girlfriend Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) have not only bought baby Leo an expensive sit-and-ride toy for his second birthday, but they also plan to take him away for the weekend.

Sensing that Rhona and Paddy aren’t overly happy about the lavish nature of the gifts, Marlon immediately tries to ease the tension by suggesting that they accompany him and Laurel on the trip…

However, Rhona panics at the thought of a whole weekend without pills, and she fears that Vanessa would never agree to supply her with enough to keep her going for the trip.

And her fears are confirmed when, after Rhona fails to cope with an emergency with Val Pollard’s dog – prompting Vanessa to step in and take over – Vanessa tells Rhona that this all has to stop.

She once again suggests that Rhona tell Paddy what’s going on, and though Rhona says she’ll think about it, secretly, she has no intention of clueing her husband in on her problem.

Will Vanessa tell Paddy herself? Or will Rhona finally get control of the problem herself?
