Daft Punk have criticised Electronic Dance Music, stating that the music being produced today “has lost its magic”.

In an interview with The Observer, Thomas Bangalter – one half of the duo said: “The music that’s being done today has lost its magic and its poetry because it’s rooted in everyday life and is highly technological”.

He added that he is flattered musicians are being influenced by their output, but he would rather they were influenced as much by the approach, adding that computers aren’t real instruments.

“On one hand we’re flattered [to influence new artists]. On the other hand, we wish people could be influenced by our approach as much as our output. It’s about breaking the rules and doing something different rather than taking some arrangements we did 10 years ago that have now become a formula.

“Computers aren’t really music instruments. And the only way to listen to it is on a computer as well. Human creativity is the ultimate interface. It’s much more powerful than the mouse or the touch screen”.

Speaking about the album, the pair said: “Like every song on this record, [Get Lucky] was something really organic. They really represent bridging the generations together and [with] what Nile Rodgers represents from somehow the same genre of music in the ‘90s and 2000s, it felt really interesting to connect all these eras together to create the music of the present and possibly the music of the future as well.

“Most of the ideas behind this record are ideas of celebration. It turns out to be a very optimistic record with very celebrator and optimistic lyrics, and it’s coming out in a world that is not so optimistic, and which is somehow many cynical and slightly pessimistic.”

Daft Punk’s fourth studio album, Random Access Memories is available from tomorrow in the UK and Tuesday in the states.

It looks like Queen B has gotten herself into a bit of a tizz surrounding these fresh pregnancy rumours.

The worldwide superstar took to her instagram page yesterday to slam the rumours and even take a shot at the “low life people” who clearly have nothing better to do than talk about her – A.K.A, the press!

The post via instagram has since been removed, but the Daily Mirror – ironically, those who have nothing better to do than talk about her – managed to salvage the post before it disappeared.

The post apparently read: “I can’t stop the rumours from starting, and I can’t really change peoples minds who believe them, all I can do is sit back and laugh at these low life people who have nothing better to do than talk about me (sic)”.

She’s not happy!

Pregnancy rumours started a week or two back but have really been fuelled over the past week. Beyoncé banned the world’s press from photographing her whilst she is on tour, but fan’s cell phone pictures surfaced online seemingly slowing a bit of a bump. However, it was brushed under the carpet as bad photography.

Then came the Met Gala in which Bey wore a Givenchy dress with a high waist and patterned belt, which was strategically placed not to show off any bump that may or may not be there.

Not only that, she had to cancel one of her gigs in Belgium last week due to “exhaustion and dehydration” which sent the rumour mill into complete overdrive.

So, even though she can’t stop the supposed rumours from starting, she hasn’t helped them…

E! News supposedly confirmed the news a couple of days back, in which they cited multiple “exclusive” sources who had told the outlet Bey is indeed pregnant – but who knows!

Beyoncé has said in the past that she would love Blue Ivy to be a big sister and that she wants to try for another child after her current tour, so I would expect the rumours to keep going until something official is announced.

Kanye West has confirmed that the highly anticipated follow-up to 2010s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is happening, and what’s more, it’s coming next month!

The album, titled “Yeezus” has been described as having a “dark” tone, with Peter Rosenberg adding: “Everyone at the label listened to the album and loved it. I heard it’s dark, but really good”.

The news comes just days after Kanye debuted his new single, New Slaves, via projections on the sides of buildings in 10 cities around the world.

The studio version of the single features Frank Ocean, in which the pair talk about modern day slavery.

Meanwhile, Kanye stopped by the finale of Saturday Night Live last night to perform two tracks from his forthcoming sixth studio album.

The first song he performed, titled “Black Skinhead”, saw the rapped dressed in a black studded leather jacket.

The second performance of the night saw West perform his new single, New Slaves.

Yeezus is set to be released on June 18th.

Jennifer Lopez has released the official video for her new single, Live It Up.

Live It Up is the lead single to be taken from Lopez’s eighth studio album, which is set to be released later this year.

Speaking about the album, Lopez said she wanted to create a “demand” for the album “by putting out some great music first”.

The video meanwhile sees Lopez taking part in a fashion show, with multiple different costume changes. Pitbull invites her to a beach in France (St. Tropez) – but we all know the video was shot in Miami. Oh dear, sack the producer.

The filming for the video had to be halted a few weeks back due to gun fire being heard in the surrounding area. Lopez was whisked off to safety before returning to finish off the video.

Live it Up marks the third collaboration between Lopez and Pitbull – and funnily enough, he sounds exactly the same in all three.

The single is already available in the states and will be released in the UK on May 26^th.

Jessie J is set to unveil some “massive news” tomorrow, it has been confirmed.

The superstar is set to host a Google+ Hangout tomorrow afternoon, which 9 lucky fans will be able to participate in. If you haven’t been chosen to participate, fear not as you can still watch the whole thing live.

What the “massive news” is going to be has not yet been confirmed, however, we think it might be something to do with the release date of the single, or even the first play.

It may even have something to do with Jessie’s forthcoming second studio album – we know production has recently been wrapped up and the cover art has been shot, it’s only a matter of time before we’re given some news on that.

Either way, Jessie has stated the hangout “is going to be major!” and if that isn’t enough, she will be performing a chosen track live during the broadcast.

The Price Tag singer announced the news of a new single earlier this week, titled “Wild”. Wild is the first single to be taken from Jessie’s second studio album and will feature Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal.

Not only that, a short video was uploaded to Jessie’s website which sees The Voice UK coach doing her thing in the studio – we’re given a snippet of a track, which is presumably from Wild.

Jessie’s special hangout is set to go live from 5pm BST.

Now that American Idol wound down for the season with Candice Glover named this year’s winner, it’s only appropriate to use this time for reflection. This season American Idol saw it’s lowest ratings to date, even with the “big” finale. Only 14.3 million viewers tuned in to see if Kree Harrison or Candice would be crowned winner. This is a 33 percent drop from years before.

We’ve tried to contemplate over the last few months as to why this continued to happen- a bad chemistry between the judges, the familiarity of the show, the fresh competition of The Voice and The X Factor, but no one has a true answer. Producers tried to save the show and make it new with a different audition process as well as a new layout for the live results show. Both of these changes were positive, but far less people tuned in to see either. Producers even reached out to popular past contestants to help draw in viewers from past seasons, but nothing could save the ratings.

A dull finale didn’t help matters any. Two girls that sing ballads well does not make for exciting TV. It doesn’t help when they’re best friends and there’s no drama unfolding before us. Let’s not forget that there was a clear winner between the two, so no one even needed to truly watch the last night to see who would win. Jessie J, Adam Lambert, Travis Barker, The Band Perry and J.Lo couldn’t even draw in the viewers. We’d like to defend the ratings saying American Idol was up against popular shows, but often it was reruns!

Past contestants, such as Taylor Hicks, are not shy to say that it’s time for American Idol to end. Critics even think the dip in ratings means that fewer people care about the show. However, many ignore that American Idol is actually a positive part of pop culture.

I’ll start with the obvious- it’s not violent, it’s not offensive (ignoring painful auditions..) and it’s tasteful. However, American Idol is more than wholesome television. It gives people a reason to dream if they truly want to be the next big music star. In the 12th season we saw so many people audition that said they’ve dreamed of being on the show since they watched season one when they were six or since they fell in love with artists who have been on the show. It’s true that American Idol is more than just a show, for some people it is a dream regardless what the ratings say. And in all honesty.. maybe compared to years past 14.3 million is a low number, but that’s still 14 million people who cared enough to tune in.

Despite fans of the show watching ratings tumble all season, but there’s no need to fear- Ryan Seacrest confirmed during the finale that the show would return for a 13th season. Maybe Fox sees that there is a need for Idol as well.

The internet managed to hush up the details of the Doctor Who series 7 finale quite nicely this week, so the BBC have made good on their promise to deliver a video of Matt Smith and David Tennant. The duo are together in this clip where they talk about what’s in store for the 50th Anniversary of the show.

It’s incredibly weird to watch David Tennant back in his brown pinstripe suit, and you can tell the fellow has aged ever so slightly since the last time he held a sonic screwdriver. Still, the pair reminisce for the cameras about advice that Tennant gave Smith when they were handing over the role. And the two acknowledged that working on the show is the “best fun ever”, but that only people who’ve been in the role will understand the pressure of becoming part of a national institution.

Tennant refers to it as “an unusual set of pressures”.

As for their characters uniting in the 50th anniversary episode, they tease that the two Doctors get on rather well, although they bicker “a bit”. David Tennant says that “they quite enjoy each others very presence”. They tease that there’s another character on the episode who’s bemused by the pair. Now, could that have been one of the companions – Jenna Louise Coleman or Billie Piper – or could it be…get ready for spoilers…(right after the video – don’t scroll down if you don’t want to know!

This is blistering, groundbreaking stuff for the series, and it opens up a storyline which could bear incredible consequences for the show. Little Monsters will be so glad to know that Lady Gaga is back on her feet and is recovering well following her hip surgery.

Gaga has attended a few “pretty low-key” events over the last few weeks to ease her back into the swing of things.

Back at the beginning of May, Gaga took to the stage for the first time since her surgery to perform with jazz star, Brian Newman at the Rose Bar in New York City.

He took to twitter to thank the global superstar: “Thanks to the 1&only @ladygaga for coming out to @GPHhotell tonight an singing a song!! @tommylondon @angiepontani @mrmartye @thedirtypearls (sic)”.

Gaga was also spotted wearing platform boots and a black mini-dress on Wednesday as she attended the Versus Versace launch party in New York City with her beau, Taylor Kinney. She even posted an exclusive picture online for her fans, which can be seen below:

A source told Us Weekly: “They were pretty low-key in the VIP section”.

Apparently, a couple of tracks from the singer’s forthcoming album, ARTPOP were played at the event.

She has been seen dotted around the city over the last few weeks, even attending the premiere of The Great Gatsby last week.

The Born This Way singer had to pull the plug on her The Born This Way Ball world tour earlier this year when she tore her right hip, she was also diagnosed with synovitis – a severe inflammation of the joints.

Gaga knew about the issue weeks before she told her fans, but carried on throughout the pain as she didn’t want to let down her Little Monsters. In one video, filmed on a fans cell phone, Gaga is heard screaming in pain during one of her performances.

On doctor’s orders, Gaga had to cancel the remainder of the tour and undergo immediate surgery on her hip. She has since been recovering and getting around using a 24-Karat gold plated custom Louis Vuitton wheelchair, which she named Emma after one of her fans.

However, the good news is that Gaga is on the mend and should be back to normal very soon!

The Saturdays have today released a teaser for the forthcoming Gentleman video.

It seems the video is as wacky as the track, with the girls dancing in front of a floral background – the background is blinding as Kim Kardashian’s floral dress, seriously.

Gentleman is the third single to be taken from the band’s forthcoming, yet untitled, forth studio album. I do hope the single isn’t a taster of what the album is going to sound like – as it’s pants. Between the rapping, singing and cheerleader-esque chanting, I can’t hear myself think. Maybe the girls took inspiration from Girls Aloud’s Something New?

The track was written by Priscilla Renea, who has written some crackers for the likes of Cheryl Cole and Rihanna, but Gentleman seems to fall flat on its face – Sorry Sat’s fans.

The full video meanwhile, is set to be unveiled on 23rd May via The Saturdays’ official VEVO page.

The single will be released on June 30th, if you’re really interested in buying it…

So, it turns out my pregnant-dar needs fixing, as Beyoncé IS indeed preggers!

Sources have “exclusively confirmed” to E! News this evening that the superstar is expecting her second child, which means Blue Ivy is going to be a big sis!

The news of the pregnancy follows multiple rumours that Beyoncé is pregnant. First, fans camera phone shots surfaced online showing what need to be an ever growing bump.

Secondly came the Givenchy high-waisted dress with a patterned belt at the Met Gala last week, this sent the internet into a complete frenzy and the other day, the Single Ladies singer had to cancel a show due to “exhaustion and dehydration” – more like morning sickness!!

Although Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s reps have not commented on the situation at hand, E! is smitten with their sources – so we believe them, for now.

No more information is known at the moment such as gender of the baby or when she is expected to pop.

However, the news comes days after Bey has been threatened with being blacklisted from the NPPA due to banning the world’s professional photographers from taking pictures whilst she is on tour.

In a letter to Beyoncé, the NPPA said that lifting the ban will most likely result in fair pictures of the star being published in the world’s press, adding that if she does not lift the ban soon, she ma be blacklisted by the National Press Photographers Association.
