November 15^th of 2011 was another special day
for the Leos of University of Moratuwa. The Leo Club of University of moratuwa conducted a campaign for planting and distributing trees in line with the National Tree Plantation day. This was done in collaboration with the State Timber Corporation and the event took place in Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya – Matara in the primary section.

In addition to the Leos of the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa, a number of personnel representing the Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya of Matara and the State Timber Corporation were present at this occation.

The General Manager of the State Timber Corporation – Mr. H.G.R. Vijenayaka and an officer – Mr. G. Karunarathna graced the occasion.

The principal of the Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya – Primary section Mrs. G. M. Harindra Malini and the vice principle Mrs. Y. L. G. Karunawathi extended great help to us to make this event a success. More than 500 students participated in this event. We are thankful to the whole staff including the principal for the help they gave us in various ways.The Leos of the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa distributed more than 1000 plants including Mango, Teak, Jack and Coconut to school children and the citizens of the area.

FELLOWSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Another activity conducted on 14^th of November after the general meeting. As Leos fellowship is a very important word which comes always with Leo movement. Therefore we had a discussion on developing fellowships among the club members and the prospects during a board meeting. So as a result of that an activity to get know each other well was conducted after the general meeting of November 2011.

We had a high amount of participation on that day of prospects & majority of members too. Therefore it was a good time for us to carry out the project on that day. As we expected all the members & prospects were highly appreciated the activity after it was over. Because they had an interesting experience by participating except the benefit of fellowship building.

What we did…..

First the participants were asked to take a chit randomly which we have prepared earlier. Then they were instructed to find the person among them who is having the matching chit for each other. Then they were seated separately as pairs and asked to get to know about their partner in many topics such as Name, Hometown, family details and finally a special secret of him or her which like to share with others.

So all the participants were engaged in this event very enthusiastically. This project also helped to improve the communication skills of every participant as they had to speak in front of whole gathering. The Prospects were engaging this kind of activity fir the first time. Since they had a nice and valuable time with us in all these events we can join them in our projects in future as well.

TEAMWORK ACTIVITY

Leo club, obviously, is a place where all of us get the opportunity to enhance our soft skills. Leos of UoM took another step ahead on improving soft skills by launching a project on teamwork after the Orientation. In the board meeting of this month the main thing we discussed about is increasing the membership among Level 1 and Level 2 students. For that we decided to do e mail campaign to invite new members. And also it was really important to give the newcomers a good impression about the Leo club, and also to show them how we get Leadership, experience and opportunity through Leoism. To fulfill this, we decided to launch this project after the orientation programme.

How It Is Conducted?

First the participants were divided in to five groups and they were asked to arrange in circles. Then they were instructed to hold their Hands entangled while staying on to the same circle. The challenge was to re-arrange their hands in to correct position (without entangling) while maintain the circle of the team.

Actually we didn’t expect anyone to win since it is not an easy task to achieve without having high team work ability. But it was nice to see a winning group, actually not only a one group, two groups won the challenge. The interesting Fact is that most of them are Prospects. So we were really happy to see such a good potential in them.

Actually this Project mainly focused on several things.
Accepting the challenge.
Team work ability.
Leading own group members.
Fulfilling the task without taking much time.

Therefore according to above facts participants were instructed about leadership qualities and team building abilities. Its easy to them to understand what does the team work ability means since they had a superb hands on experience by participating our activity.

All the prospects were happily engaged in this event and we got lots of positive feed backs from them about the activity. Best thing we have gained by conducting such activities is promoting Leoism in order to make good Leos to the nation.

YOU ARE THE FUTURE (ORIENTATION PROGRAMME)

An orientation programme for the level 1 students was held on 14^th of November. Basically this orientation programme held under the theme of “You are the future”. As the theme indicates prospects is the future of any club. So we thought of having an orientation programme to make them aware of Leo movement. As Leos our responsibility is to promote Leoism among the new comers. Therefore “You are the future” is a big step we organized in order to fulfill our responsibility.

FLOW OF THE EVENT………….

As in every orientation programme “You are the future” started by a presentation conducted by Leo Laksri Tharanga explainimg ‘what is Leoism?’. He explained about Leo origin, movement and activities. It emphasized the Leos the importance of joining to an internationally recognized society like Leo and the benefits they can enjoy by the same time with social works.

Then Leo Sajith Senewirathene made a presentation on history of Leo club of University of Moratuwa. In his presentation he pointed out that Leo club of University of Moratuwa is having a memorable history which we can be proud of been a Leo of this club.

So it helped to make a good impression in prospects about the club so that we will have their contributions for our projects in Future.

After that Leo C.S Gunasekara shared his ideas about Leoism and Leo club of University of Moratuwa, with the gathering. In his presentation he mentioned about the way he started Leoism and how he came up to now. As a new Leo his Ideas was valuable for the new comers who are willing to be a Leo.

All the prospects who were participated to the orientation programme were attended the Team work building activity as well. As we expected we could make the prospects more impressed of this club at the end of the programme. Finally the event was lasted by delivering a small speech by the President.

“ARE YOU READY TO CHOOSE ONE?”- A/L student awareness seminar on subject selection

Why Subject selection critical?

The O/L examination is regarded as the qualification examination for starting on GCE(A/L). Specialization streaming is depended on the grades obtained for subjects in the O/L. The country's reputed schools admit students to their A/L, depending on the O/L grades.

Senior Secondary (O/L) education lasts for two years, grade 10- 11, after which students have to sit for the G.C.E. ordinary level to qualify for Senior Secondary G.C.E. (A/L) education which lasts another two years until students are prepared for the G.C.E. Advanced level examination.

Since the students nowadays are used to have extra classes for almost all the A/L subjects, they have to make a decision on which stream they are going to follow without having the advantage of deciding based on their O/L results. At this situation the students are in a confused period of time and we thought to give them a helping hand to ease their pressure.

How it was done…

First we thought of the place where it would be the best to conduct this event. Since Welimada is an area where a lot of students come from, we thought it would be the best place and We chose the main hall of the school as it was very convenient and it is a place where we could gather students from a larger area.

Awareness session

Leo Kanishka Pubudu was conducted this session. As he mentioned as his speech that he was also really confused and was in the same position as all the participants are. He told them that he has asked from several elder students and a number of teachers what he should do and has followed almost all the classes in the beginning, because he was unable to take the correct decision at once. He has provided many important tips in his speech and was a very enjoyable one indeed.

Group activity

Since the students were listening to speeches for a while it started to get a bit uneasy. And it was the best time to have the group activity. They were grouped and then given topics to do a presentation based on the topic they were given. All the groups did short dramas and most of them were very much entertaining.

We all had a great time with the students and we shared our experiences with them. They were very happy about the whole session and they asked us to do it in the next year also.

API AKURATA MELI NOWEMU- A HELPING HAND FOR O/L STUDENTS OF Madewela Maha Vidyalaya, Welimada

It was the end of November and the Ordinary Level exams are closing in. We, Leos of Leo Club of University of Moratuwa decided to give a helping hand to a set of students who are not having the guidance of a mathematics teacher in their school. Since those children do not have enough facilities to learn privately and they do not have enough learning material, we have chosen Madewela Maha Vidyalaya, Welimada as the place to conduct the seminar on 11^th November 2011 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Objectives of the project

Motivate the students to face the exam in a comfortable manner
Since they were not provided with adequate learning material, provide them a standard set of papers which could be used as a model paper.
Teach students the missing parts of the syllabus, and through their knowledge in certain areas
Give a practice to them in facing a real exam
Motivate students to carry out their careers towards higher education
Give them an idea about Leoism..
Teach them about the world they are going to step into, the challenges they have to face and the knowledge the world heavily depends on.

The workshop began at 8.00 am at the main hall of Madewela Maha Vidyalaya, Welimada. More than 150 students participated in the event from a number of schools in the area. One week before the seminar we have sent letters all the schools to participate in the seminar. We had good response from almost all the schools, which resulted in the lack of space in the hall on the day event was held.

All the students were willing to answer the problems which were shown on the screen(multimedia) which showed their appetite in learning new methods and techniques. We could teach them easy ways and methods of solving problems, how to remember certain important points and how to manage the remaining time to prepare for the exam.

The students were given a complete model exam paper and some other additional notes. We could discuss the problems they had regarding the exam. We could give some solutions to their problems. They were clearly advised how to spend each minute at the exam in the most effective way. How to read the paper, select questions, manage time and many more tips which are priceless when facing an exam paper.

We have given them an idea about Leoism and what we do as a University Leo Club. The videos shown to them have given them a lot of hope and motivation to go and do higher studies without stopping education after O/Levels. We educated them about the areas they can steer their careers and how to get in to those paths and what will they achieve.

Finally we could motivate the students to face the exam in a confident manner using our experiences as well. At the end of the day it was a great experience we had teaching them, and it is our hope that they will do well and achieve the best results in the exam.

“Tips to succeed in your O/L” – Workshop for passing O/L with fine colours

Leo Tharindu Gallappatthi had organized a workshop in a different theme, ‘Tips to succeed in your O/L’. It was launched on 11^th of November in the afternoon. All the students were very interested on that hearing the topic of the workshop, as they are facing to ordinary level exam this year or next year.

The very first activity of the workshop was an exercise to improve our memorizing ability, done by Leo Tharindu. Then he discussed about time management. The body of his lecture was about how to manage the limited time given to answer to a paper effectively. And also they did some methods used to memorize the subject matters easily.

And also in his lecture Leo Tharindu spoke about how to prepare a time table to study for the exam effectively. There are about 1 month left to this year’s ordinary level exam. Leo Tharindu advised to manage the time from now on and start preparing for the exam from now on.

All the students were given a chance to question if any doubts. They asked lot of questions on the way of answering the exam papers. They were able to clarify a lot of doubts they had regarding the exam.

Conquest of Space - skill development project which also included improving leadership skills of Chess Team Captains

‘Excellence is not a Skill but an Attitude’… This is a well known quote which describes the power of attitude in a very strong manner. So with keeping this idea in mind we launched our project ‘Conquest of Space’ with the theme ‘From Advanced to Mastered’. Participating in a sport is really good and being selected to a team and playing in a team is extremely a great achievement. But only few players get this chance to play for a team. But we have seen it many times that the best teams get lost though the best players play for the team. This reminds us all, just how important an attitude is, than a skill. So the priority should be given to improve the attitude of the team rather than improving skills as they inherited them with practice. So we decided to bring this project to such a team where talented players included in, and where success can be achieved by changing their attitude and making them confident to win. ‘CONQUEST OF SPACE’ was not only another child education or sports project. It was also a skill development project which also included improving leadership skills of Chess Team Captains in different age levels. Because it’s a sport which develops individual performances by working as a team and where team work strategies are highly appreciable.

The main objective was to recognize the best and most influential players of a team and encourage them to raise their performances along with the team, and also to make their attitude to become a mastered. Improving leadership skills of Chess Team Captains was another purpose.

This special project was conducted for advanced school chess players who had represented in All Island Inter school chess tournaments and also awarded by ‘Board Prices’ in recent years. First, we asked Mr. Nishantha Bandara – Teacher in charge of Sports – BMMV, to provide us a list of chess players who are already playing for the school team and who had showed special performances in this sport so far. Then he gave us a list of 28 students who contributed in winning the Uva Province Chess Championship in year 2011. They are from the teams, Under 15 and Under 19 (Boys/Girls), 7 in each team including 1 reserve player.

Then we moved on to a discussion with the Chess team of University of Moratuwa regarding the procedure of the program and the possibilities to use more resources to make this project more beneficial to many of the players. In the special board meeting hold regarding this project, it was proposed to donate some sports accessories to the school. One suggestion raised that it should be a set of books on Chess, and another was to donate a chess clock. However we ended up with the decision to donate three chess mats of a quality brand with sets of chess pieces. Because we thought it would be the most beneficial addition to the school chess club.

Some of the sessions were carried on in school multimedia unit and all the players who participated in the event were given the opportunity to learn and practice modern chess software. Several multimedia presentations had arranged to improve their interest and knowledge about chess. And also we made them aware on tips and important notifications on using Shredder Classic 4 chess software. We mainly focused on how to implement leadership and teamwork skills inside the team and improve individual performances.

There was another time slot allocated for the chess quiz. In the Quiz Competition some end game puzzles were given to the students and they were really enthusiastic in making solutions for them.

However among number of correct solutions the best three solutions with correct recording notes were selected and those students got the chance to receive the donations on behalf of the school.

The final session was the Prize giving and handing over the donations to the school. The prize giving was chaired by the Chief Guest, Mr. Nishantha Bandara. It became the closing ceremony of ‘Conquest of Space’ and the Chief Guest addressed the gathering and he appreciated this contribution of UoM Leos in developing chess in his school and he made a request to organize this event in another time as it reached the maximum level of Success… Leo Naveen, the President while addressing the occasion didn’t forget to thank everyone for the support rendered beyond their comfort zones to make this endeavor a SUCCESS.

" SILENT MOVES " - The Ultimate CHESS Coaching Camp

“If you are not big enough to lose, you are not big enough to win”………………....

Chess.., it’s a game of two players, sometimes a battle of Titans and also it becomes a conflict of two minds in another time. However in all the times it’s an Art of Thinking… As it’s mentioned above, there’s something to learn in every game and it’s correctly said that selecting the best path makes the victory yours at the end. This is ‘Chess’ in brief as a game. Among all the other sports, chess is an Art which can be touched only by concentrated minds. It doesn’t matter who we are, the most important thing we should have to make anything a success is the concentration of our minds. So not like other ordinary sports, chess can be called as a universal sport which is kept open for all ages from little kids to old gentlemen. And by time it makes up their minds as it was never before. So as Leo Club of University of Moratuwa with lots of resources not only in academics but also in sports, we decided to come up with a project to become a helping hand to someone to develop this Art of thinking…

It came up with a tiny little name ‘SILENT MOVES’ as it means.

As soon as we confirmed the date it was the time to start advertising….Our fellow Leos were informed about the project through e-mails, face book event notifications and students of the school were got to know about the project by posters displayed on college notice board. And we designed a digital printed banner to display on that day. The main purpose of it was to give an idea about the organizing hand and Leoism to school students, their parents as well as the other participants

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

As it’s mentioned above the main objective of the project was to become a helping hand to someone in developing skills and improving knowledge in chess and also let them to share experiences with national level players who have excelled in national and international tournaments. We believe this project became a great opportunity not only for the other participants but also for our fellow Leos to have the same benefits. In another way it became a nice experience for all of us as the selected project location was far away from the university. So it made a great time and opportunity for us to discuss our future projects in free minds with being apart from our regular busy schedule…

An event like this cannot happen overnight; it needed an organizing structure and a scheduled time plan since this was a joint project done by UoM Leos in collaboration with university chess team and chess club of Bandarawela Central College. We wanted to have some projects with novel themes for the current Leoistic year. So several ideas were raised under sports projects from our fellow Leos and it was highlighted the importance of doing a children education project along with a leadership and skill enhancement project. In our monthly board meeting chaired by the president this idea about a chess coaching camp was came out and all the members raised their thumbs up to do this project.

Then the matter was to decide to whom we should bring this project. Lots of ideas were proposed and the final decision was to bring this project to Bandarawela Central College. There are several reasons for the above selection. Bandarawela Central College is a well known school for Chess in ‘Uva Province’ as they are the champions in recent years. But unlike in other schools no workshops or coaching camps were held in last few years in improving chess. So we thought those students are the most suited ones to deserve the benefits of this Silent but Strong movement.

On 1st of October, Saturday morning our fellow Leos with four members of UoM chess team including our club president and present captain of chess team started the journey to Bandarwela with a great purpose having in our mind. By the evening we reached to Bandarawela and stayed in the circuit bungalow as arranged before. Being apart from the busy regular life, it was a nice place to discuss and to collect ideas about the next day proceedings and our future Leo projects…

It was a day of hopes…, in every single commitment we completed everyone wanted to bring them to a successful end. The coaching camp was scheduled to begin at 8.00 am, and when we reached there, a lot of students had arrived to the place for participating in this event which was going to be an unforgettable experience to those little kids. First of all we were warmly welcomed by the vice principal with school staff. It is really appreciated that they had taken a great effort in organizing this event.

First, all the students were divided into three groups by considering their level under beginner, intermediate and advanced categories. Then the coaching camp was carried on the following guide lines and mainly focused on them.

King’s Gambit
Queen’s Gambit etc…

Different methods of mating with Queen, two Rooks, single Rook, two Bishops
Basic middle game and endgame strategies
Simple tactics and special moves
Recording games and using a chess clock
How to organize and select the board order of the team

The coaching camp was conducted as four sessions and after two sessions, all the participants were given refreshments and after an interval all the students gathered again for the next session which includes the latter part of the above program.The coaching camp was successfully completed and the most valuable achievement was the

feedback notes given by those little chess players. We as Leo Club of University of Moratuwa are really proud to organize such an event which will contribute in making those little minds into master minds to become international chess champions one day….

" Set them up to Get them connected " - REFURBISHING COMPUTER AND NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS OF A SCHOOL

Sri Lanka is a leading country in South Asian Region for having satisfactory level of ICT education with modern computer and internet facilities available for most of the schools. With the help of government and non-government organizations lots of programs and projects have been launched to develop ICT facilities in schools. But the existing problem is that in most of the schools a teacher in-charge of ICT education is not available. This fact has caused in many problems while maintaining and repairing these computers and other network accessories.

Leo Club of University of Moratuwa is occupied with many talented individuals with a sound knowledge in the field of computer hardware, software and network. So we decided to extend our hands to help one of those schools with some computers available, which are out of use due to the above reason. Then we came up with the project “Set them up to Get them connected” to help one of those schools.

Project description

Most of the Leos in our club are specialized in the field of computer science. Therefore we had an idea to come up with a technology based project and help someone in need. So we proposed this project in the board meeting and it was selected with very good feedbacks.

Though we wanted to do this as a continuous project in schools in remote areas, as a beginning and considering the time available, we decided to launch the first step as soon as possible. The very first task was to select a school. There were some suggestions raised from our fellow Leos and finally we decided to select Katubedda Bodhiraja Vidyalaya for this project. Because there was a request from that school to help them in refurbishing their computers and other network accessories as we are taking part in a project to teach IT for ordinary level students in that school.

As the first step we met Mr. Mahinda Lal, Principal of the school on 21^st of September and we informed him about the project. Then we arranged a date and a time after a discussion with the principal. He was really obliged about coming up with such a project to his school as a lot of students were waiting to use computers and to surf internet, but they weren’t given a chance for a long time .

We launched our project on 26^th of September. On that day we went there with some tools to assemble the computers and a software/driver collection. First we were taken to the computer lab of the school and when we reached there, only some desks and chairs could be seen in the room. Then we get the computers out and check their conditions. Most of them needed a reassembling of the components with necessary replacements. Finally we were able to fix computers and printers to a reasonable level with some replacements.

Our next task was to refurbish PC application software environment and to install default drivers for hardware adapters/peripherals including driver installation for printers and other accessories. Some of those printers were old and bulky ones. So finding drivers for them became little bit difficult. Our final step of the project was to implement standard network topology among the computers available, to set up LAN configuration of computers (IP, DNS, default gateway etc…) and to troubleshoot network problems occurred. Finally we make the IT laboratory of the school a useful and a regularly available one which was neglected and out of use for a long time before we launched the project.

The creativeness of an image basically depends on the creativity of the photographer. We all take photos in different kind of events, trips, parties,.etc. But a few of us knows about how to take a creative photograph by using the different kind of photographic techniques. Photography has a wide range of techniques with helps to the photographer to make a creative photograph. So Leo Club of University of Moratuwa was decided to hold a work shop on photography for the undergraduates of the university which is totally different from the academic work. Basically these are the main objectives of this work shop,

Aware the undergraduates about the basics of the photography.
Practically use of them by thinking out of the box.
Improving the hidden creativity of them.
Reduce the stress with academic load by changing their minds.

We conducted this work shop in 29th September 2011 from 5 p.m to 8 p.m at our Lecture Room. For this session, we especially invited a person who is our senior undergraduate, an active Leo member and also a person who has a very creative eye on photography. He is Leo Isuru Bogoda. Basically he gained lot of knowledge of photography by his own experience. He had own collection of hundreds of photos which shows his own talent of photography.

We began the work shop with a large number of participants which we have never expected. Most of members were new to photography. Therefore we told them lot of things about cameras and give them chance to capture. Basically in this session is covered,

Golden Rule of Photography
Important of Aperture
Effect of shutter speed to the image

We all try to give knowledge and practical experience to every participant with using SLR (Single Lens Reflexes) camera. Leo Isuru Bogoda describe the golden rule of photography with the mathematically explanation of it. According to him, the image which we took, has more creativeness by taking it be on that rule. In our eye, we regulate the amount of light that reaches our retina with the pupil, the round opening in the iris that gets larger or smaller. With a camera we have two devices to regulate the amount of light. They are,

Aperture
Shutter

By changing above two devices, we can take the photographs according to the situation. All the participant got chance to take photographs by using above techniques. It was very valuable experience to them to identify the practical usage of those. And it helped them to compare the different situations of aperture and shutter control. Within the first hour, Leo Isuru completed the theoretical part of above three categories and second hour was allocated for the practical usage of those techniques.
Everyone contributed this practical session with their own commitment and they asked lot of questions from Leo Isuru during that time. After the work shop, everyone praised us for organizing this kind of event. They also told that they learnt lot about photography and this session made them to learn more about photography. They tried to use this knowledge practically. Most of participants were requested us to do this kind of workshop in every month.

RISE AND SMILE.. - A helping hand for O/L students

As there only two month left for the GCE ordinary level exams we, LEOs of leo club of university of moratuwa decided to give a helping hand to students who do not have a teacher for ICT subject. so we chose bodhiraja vidyalaya for our project. since those students do not have the knowledge about the subject we decided to conduct some classes for two months. one day for each week at 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

Teach students the missing parts of the IT subject.
Reduce their pressure for the exam.
Motivate the students to face the exam in a comfortable manner.
Motivate students to carry out their careers towards higher education.
Give them an idea about Leoism.
Teach them about the world they are going to step into, the challenges they have to face and the knowledge the world heavily depends on.

First we did a small research about lack of teachers in schools for various subjects. Then we came to know that Bodhiraja Vidyalaya does not have a teacher for ICT subject and there are students who will sit for ICT exam in O/L 2011. Without a teacher those students do not have any knowledge about ICT subject. So we decided to conduct a series of programs to teach them the subject and give them the confidence.

As the project goes for at least two months we decided to do the programs in shift. As usual many Leos agreed to give their support. Chathura Gamage and Ujitha Iroshan have done the first program. In the programs we offered students to do some group activities and also the practical according to the ICT subject and it helps to students to get more familiar with the subject and the computers.

We had a great time with the students and we shared our experience with them and students were very happy with the program and gave us satisfaction.

හිතන්න පිඟානේ තියෙන බත් ටික අරන් කටින් තියාගන්න යම් දවසක බැරි උනොත් , කාට කියල ඒක කරගන්නද ? තනියම තමන්ගේ නියපොතු ටික රැවුල කපාගන්න බැරි වුනොත් ඒත් කාට කි

යන්නද ?

ඒ වගේම තමන්ට කරගන්න බැරි ඒ වගේ දෙයක් වෙන කෙනෙක් කරද්දී ඒ කෙනා ඒ දිහා බලන් ඉන්නවා ඇත්තේ කොයි තරම් දුකකින්ද ?කවුරු නැතත් අපි අසරණ වුනොත් අම්ම තාත්ත අපි ළඟ ඉඳීවි. ඒත් ඒ අයත් අපිව දාල ගියොත් ?

ඒ වගේම හිතන්න අපේ අම්ම තාත්ත එක්තැන් වුනොත් අපිට අප්පිරියාවකින් තොරව ඒ අය පිරිසිදු කරල කවන්න පොවන්න තරම් මානසිකත්වයක් අපි තුල තියෙනවද ? අපිට එහෙම කැප කිරීමක් කරන්න පුලුවන්ද ?ඒ තියා හිතට එන දේ කියන්න කෙනෙක් නැතිනම් , ආසාවට කතා කරන්න කෙනෙක් නැති වුනාම , පුළුවන් වේවිද දෙවියනේ ඉවසගෙන ඉන්න .. ? ඒ අසරණ කම කටින් කියන්න බෑ මට හිතෙන්නේ.

ඔබෙන් මේ තරම් ප්‍රශ්න ඇහුවේ අන්න ඒ අසරණ කම ඔබේ හදවතට සමීප කරන්නයි.

තවත් දෙයක් ඉතින් එහෙම කෙනෙක් අසරණ වෙනවා නම් ඒකටත් හේතුවක් තියෙන්න ඕනි. ඒත් , ඒ අසරණ වීමට හේතු හොයලා ඒ හේතුවට ප්‍රතිකාර කරනවට වඩා ඒ මිනිසුන්ගේ හිතට සහනයක් වෙන එක වටිනවා.අද මේ තබන බ්ලොග් සටහන තවත් එක ව්‍යාපෘතියක් නම් නෙමෙයි. ඇත්තටම"මනුස්සකමේ උපරිමයට ගිය සුන්දර වූ යාමයක්‌"අපිට ලඟා කර ගන්න පුළුවන් වුනා. ඒ පිලිබඳ ලියා තබන්නයි මේ සුදානම.

හැඳින්වීමකින් මුලින්ම පටන් ගන්නම්. අපි ගියේ අපේම අම්මල තාත්තල වගේ එහෙත් ආබාධිත අය ඉන්න නිවාසයකට.ඒක පිහිටලා තියෙන්නේ රාජගිරිය නගරයට ඉතාම ආසන්නයේ. ඒ නිවාසයේ නම "වික්ටෝරියා නිවාසය".මේ නිවාසයේ පිරිමි ආබාධිත අය 100 ක් විතරත් ගැහැණු අබාධිත අය 80 ක් විතරත් ඉන්නවා. ඇත්තටම අබාධිත කියල කිව්වට එක එක අයට තියෙනේ එක එක විදියේ නොහැකියාවන්.

ගිය වර්ෂයේත් silent symphonies ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ අපි රාජගිරිය වැඩිහිටි නිවාසයට ගියා . ඒත් මෙවර හැමෝගෙම අරමුණ වුනේ ඊටත් එහා ගිය උතුම් කර්තව්‍යක් කරන්නයි.ඒ උදෙසා අපි මුලින්ම මාසික ලියෝ රැස්වීමේදී හැමෝවම දැනුවත් කරලා එකඟතාවයකට ඇවිත් ඊළඟට නිවාසයේ පාලක මහත්මයට කතා කරලා දිනයක් වෙන කර ගත්තා.අපි මේ කරන සත් කාර්යය ගැන විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සිසුන් දැනුවත් කරලා ඒ අයට පුළු පුළුවන් විදියට දායකත්වය දක්වන්න අවස්තාවක් ලබා දෙන්නත් අපි කල්පනා කලා.ඒ වෙනුවෙන් පෝස්ටර් කිහිපයක් නිර්මාණය කරලා විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය තුල ප්‍රදර්ශනය කළා.

අපේ මේ මනුස්සකමේ සුයාමය නම් වූ ව්‍යාපෘතිය ව්‍යාපෘති ගණනාවක එකතුවක් ලෙස කරන්න ඊළඟට අපි තීරණය කළා.

ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන්ම අරමුණ වුනේ එහි ගොස් ඒ අහිංසක මිනිසුන්ට එක දවසක් හෝ හැකි උපරිම අයුරින් සත්කාර කොට හා ඔවුන් හා සෙනෙහසින් කාලය ගත කිරීම.අනෙකුත් උප අරමුණු ලෙස ,
ඔවුන්ට නිතර අවශ්‍ය වන පිරිසුදුකාරක ද්‍රව්‍ය සහ මුලික අවශ්‍යතා හැකි අයුරින් සපයා දීම.
ඔවුන් වෙසෙන පරිසරය ශ්‍රමදානයක් මඟින් පිරිසිදු කොට මැසි මදුරු කරදර වලින් තොර එමෙන්ම පියකරු පරිසරයක් බවට පත් කිරීම.
ඔවුන් අඳින ඇඳුම බොහෝ පැරණි නිසාවෙන් හොඳ තත්වයේ පවතින ඇඳුම් එකතුකර ගෙනගොස් පිරිනැමීම.
අසරණ වී සිටින ඒ අහිංසක මිනිසුන්ගේ දෙසවනට ඒ උතුම් වූ අමා ධර්මය ඇසෙන්නට සැලැස්වීම... ආදිය දැක්විය හැකියි.

මුලින් හැම දෙනාවම දැනුවත් කරලා ආධාර කරන්න අවශ්‍ය වෙන දේවල් සහ පාවිච්චි කල හැකි තත්වයේ පවතින ඇඳුම් එකතු කරන්න අපි යාලුවන්ගේ බෝඩිම් වලට ගියා. එතැනදී ඒ අයගේ උපරිම සහයෝගය අපිට ලැබුනා.

ඒ වගේම විශාල රෙදි ප්‍රමාණයක් එකතු කර ගන්නත් පුළුවන් වුනා. අපි මේ විදියට ඇඳුම් එකතු කරන්න හිතුවේ ගිය වර එහි ගිය අවස්ථාවේදී ඔවුන්ගේ ඒ අවශ්‍යතාවය අපිට දැනුණු හින්දා.ස්නානය කිරීමන් පසු ඔවුන්ට අන්දවන ඇඳුමෙහි පවා පිරිසිදු බවක් තිබුනේ නැහැ.ඉතින් ඒ අනුවයි අපේ ව්‍යාපෘතියේ කොටසක් බවට මේ ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කිරීම පත් වුනේ.

ඊළඟට නිවාසය අසලම තියෙන පන්සලට ගිහින් හාමුදුරුවෝ බැහැ දැකලා අපේ මේ කටයුත්ත ගැන උන වහන්සේ දැනුවත් කරලා 24 වෙනිදා සවස ධර්ම දේශනයකට බුලත් අතක් දී අරාධනා කළා.ඉතින් 24 වෙනිදා උදේ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයෙන් පිටත් වුනු අපි උදේ 8 වෙද්දී වික්ටෝරියා නිවාසයට එන්න සමත් වුනා. ඉතින් ගිය ගමන් අපිව පිළිගන්න පලාක මහත්මය බොහොම සතුටින් ඉස්සරහට ආවා.

මුලින්ම හමුවෙන්න ආපු දවසේදී වගේම එදත් , ගිය වසරේදීත් අපි මෙහෙ ආපු බව මතකයේ තිබුණු එතුමන් අපිව හුඟක් අගය කළා.අපි ඔක්කොම 32 ක් විතර වැඩේට සහභාගී වෙලා හිටි නිසා එතුමන්ගේ කෙටි පිළිගැනීමේ කතාවෙන් පස්සේ කට්ටියක් ශ්‍රමදාන කටයුත්තටත් අනිත් පිරිස ආබාධිත අයගේ වාට්ටු කරාත් පියමන් කළා.

ඒ අය අපි එනකන් මග බලාගෙන උන්නේ හරියට අවුරුදු ගානක් දන්නා කියන කෙනෙක් එනකම් ඉන්නවා වගෙයි. ඒ අය හිතේ හිර කරන හිටපු හුගක් දේවල් අපෙ අය එක්ක කියන්න පටන් ගත්තා.කෙනෙක් ගිය ගමන්ම අනේ මගේ නියපොතු ටික කපල දෙන්න කියනවා, තවත් කෙනෙක් අනේ මහත්තයෝ මට නාන්න ආසයි කියනවා,

ඉතින් මේ වගේ අසරණ මිනිසෙකුගේ ඉටුකරගත නොහැකි අවශ්‍යතාවක් ඉටු කර දීම කොයි තරම් නම් පිනක්ද ?කෙනෙක් අපෙන් වේවැලක් ගෙනත් ඉල්ලනවා, තවත් කෙනෙක්ට පොතක් සහ පෑනක් අවශ්‍ය වෙලා. බලන්න ඒ හිත් හරියට පුංචි හිත් වගේ.

හිතන්න අපි පුංචි කාලේ අවශ්‍ය දෙයක් වුනත් නැතත් අම්මලාගෙන් අරගෙන ඉල්ලන හැටි. මතක් කරන්න පොඩ්ඩක්. අම්ම අරගෙන නොදුන්නොත් කොයි තරම් නම් අඬනවද ? ඉතින් ඒ අයගේ පුංචි පුංචි වුවමනා ඉටු කරන්න අපේ හැමෝම මහන්සි වුනා.

එතන ඉන්න 25 ක් විතර අයට තමන්ගේ කිසිම වැඩක් තමන්ට කරගන්න බැහැ . ඉතින් අපි ගිහින් ඒ අයගේ දත් මද්දවල මුහුණු සොදවලා ස්නානය කරන්න කැමති අය සෝදලා පිරිසිදු කරලා ,අපි එකතු කරගෙන ගියපු අලුත් ඇඳුම් අන්දවන්න කටයුතු කළා. ඒ සතුටු මුහුණු දකිද්දී අපේ හිත් වලට පිරෙන සතුට හිත පුරවල යන අමුර්තමය සතුටක්.

සමහර අයට තමන්ගේ දේවල් කරගන්න ටිකක් ටිකක් පුළුවනි. ඉතින් ඒ අයට තමන්ගේ ඇඳුම් ටික පිළිවෙලට නමලා හදාගන්න , එහෙමත් නැතිනම් තමන්ගේ ඇඳුම් ටික සෝදාගන්න ,

කාලෙකින් සබන් දාල සේදුවේ නැති කෝප්පය සෝදාගන්න අපේ අය උදව්‍ කලේ හිතේ උපන් අසීමිත මනුස්සකමෙන්. අන්න ඒ මනුස්සකම හිත ඇතුලෙන් උඩට ගන්න එක මේ තුලින් අපිට කරන්න පුළුවන් වුනා.

ඉතින් ඒ මනුස්සකම් එකතු වුන තැන මනුස්සකමේ සුයාමයක්‌ නෙමෙයි කියන්න ඔබට මට පුලුවන්ද ?උදලු , තණකොළ කැති අරගෙන වැඩට බැහැපු අපේ කට්ටිය ඉතා ඉක්මනට ඒ අයගේ වාට්ටු කිට්ටුව වල් බිහිවෙලා තිබුණු පරිසරය පිරිසිදු කරන්න සමත් වුනා.වික්ටෝරියා නිවාසයෙන් අපිට ලැබුණු තේ පැන් සංග්‍රහයෙන් පස්සේ හැමෝම එකතු වෙලා වාට්ටුවෙන් වාට්ටුවට කිහිප දෙනා බැගින් ගිහින් ඒ අය එක්ක කතා කරන්න හිතුවා.

ඒ මිනිසුන් අප සමඟ කතා බහ කිරීමෙන් සිනා වීමෙන් ලද සතුට රුපියල් ලක්ෂයකින් වත් ඒ අයට දෙන්න බැරි බව නම් මට ඉර හඳ වගේ විශ්වාසයි.

ඉතින් ඒ අයගේ දවල් ආහාරය කිට්ටු වෙලා තිබුනා අපි මේ විදියට කතා බහ කරන අතරේදීම. කතා බහ විතරක් නොවෙයි , විටෙක මිල්ටන් පෙරේරා මහත්මයාගේ සින්දු වලට ඉතාමත් ආශාවක් දක්වන කෙනෙක් , විටෙක ජෝතිපාල මහත්මාගේ සින්දු හඬ නගා කියන කෙනෙක් , විටෙක පරිපථ සකස් කරන කෙනෙක් , විටෙක විකිණීම සඳහා යතුරු රඳවන සකසන කෙනෙක් ලෙසින් විවිධ ආකාරයේ චරිත මේ භුමිය තුලදී අපේ නෙතට සිතට ඇතුල් වුනා.

ඒ වගේම ඒ අයගේ ජීවිත අත්දැකීම් ඇසුරෙන් ඇයි අපිට මේ තත්වය උදා වුනේ ඇයි අපි මෙහෙම දුක විඳින්නේ " පුතාල මේ මේ . . .දේවල් කරන්නට එපා! " යයි කියන්නට තරම් හොඳ නරක හොඳින් වටහාගත් එමෙන්ම දෙයක් වටහා දීමට තරම් බුද්ධිමත් මිනිසුන් ද අපිට මුණ ගැසුනා.

ඇත්තෙන්ම මේ තුලින් අපිට කියා දුන් අප ඉගෙනගත් පාඩම එයම තමයි.

ඒ හුඟක් අය අපේ අතින් බත් කටක් කෑවේ හුඟක් අසාවෙන්. සමහර අයට කොහොමටත් තනියෙන් බත් ටික කන්න බැහැ. ඉතින් බත් කවලා වතුර පොවලා බොහොමත්ම කරුණාවෙන් අපේ අය ඒ අයට සත්කාර කළා.ඇත්තටම ඒ මොහොතවල් අපේ ජීවිත කාලය පුරාවටම මතක තියෙන සංවේදී මොහොතවල් බවට පත් වේවි.

අපේ ඊළඟ පියවර වුනේ ගෙනියපු ඇඳුම් ටික ඒ අයගේ හිතේ හැටියට තෝරලා ගන්න අවස්තාවක් දෙන එකයි. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් අපි ඇඳුම් ටික ට්‍රොලියක් මත තබාගෙන ඇඳෙන් ඇඳට ඒ අය ලඟට ගියා.අපි ඇඳුම් ගන්න ගියාම තෝරනවා වගේ ඒ අයත් තෝරලා බලලා ඇඳුම් ගත්තා. කියාගන්න බැරි තරම් සන්තෝෂයකින් අපේ මුණු දිහා බලලා හිනා වෙලා අපේ හිතටත් අමන්දානන්දය රැගෙන එන්න තරම් ඒ අය නිහතමානී වුනා.

අපි පිරිමි වාට්ටු වල මේ කටයුතු කරන අතරේ අපිත් එක්ක එකතු වුනු අක්කල තුන් දෙනා උදේ ඉඳන්ම අම්මල ආච්චිලා එක්ක බොහොම සතුටින් කාලය ගත කළා.

අන්තිමට ඒ අයටත් ඇඳුම් බෙදා දෙන්න අපි හැමෝම සහභාගී වුනා. නිකම්ම ඇඳුම් බෙදල දීල එන්නේ නැතිව ඒ ඇඳුම ඇන්ද ගන්න බැරි අයට පරණ ඇඳුම ඉවත් කරලා අලුත් ඇඳුම අන්දවලා සතුටු කරන්න තරම් අපේ ලියෝ සාමාජිකයින් කරුණාවන්ත වුනා.

අවසාන වශයෙන් අපි කරන්නට කල්පාන කරගෙන සිටි ධර්ම දේශනාව සඳහා ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ වැඩමවාගෙන විත් ඒ කටයුත්ත ආරම්භ කරන විටම රෝද පුටු වලින් ඇදී ඇදී ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ පෙනෙන මානයට එන්න තරම් මේ මිනිසුන් ධර්මයට ලැදි මිනිසුන් වුනා. එලෙසින්ම ඒ මිනිසුන්ට ධර්මයේ අවශ්‍යතාවය දැනී තිබුනා යයි ඒ තුලින් අපිට සිතුනා.ධර්ම දේශනාව තුලදී ආබාධිත අයගේ යහපත වෙනුවෙන් මෙන්ම , මෙවන් වටිනා සමාජ මෙහෙවරක් වෙත තරුණ පිරිස යොමු වීමේ වැදගත් කමද ගෞරවනීය ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ විස්තර සහිතව පැහැදිලි කළා.

ධර්ම දේශනාව අවසානයේදී ලියෝ සාමාජිකයින් සියලු දෙනා එක්ව පැන් වඩා සියලු දෙනාටම පින් අනුමොදන් කර ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේට පිරිකර පූජා කරමින් එම කටයුතු නිමාව කරා රැගෙන ගියා.

අවසාන වශයෙන් නිවාසයේ පාලක තුමන්ගෙන් ජීවිතයට වටිනා ඔවදන් කිහිපයක් සමඟින් පින් අනුමොදනාත්මක ස්තුති කතාවක් අපි සියලු දෙනා අභිමුවෙහි පැවැත්වුනා.

එම කතාවෙහි අන්තර්ගත වූ පරිදි "ගිලනුන්ට සත්කාර කිරීම බුදු රජාණන් වහන්සේට සත්කාර හා කිරීම හා සම බව " මෙනෙහි කරමින් ප්‍රීතිමත් චිත්ත සන්තානයෙන් යුක්තව , එමෙන්ම ජීවිතය පිලිබඳ මහා කල්පනාවක යෙදුනු යටි හිතත් රැගෙන සන්ධ්‍යාවේ හිරු රැස් විඳිමින් කෙමෙන් කෙමෙන් ඒ බිමෙන් මෙපිටට ඇදී නැවතත් සරසවිය බලා එන්නට යෙදුනා....

The 9th installation ceremony of Leo Club of University of Moratuwa was held on 24th of July 2009 at Lagoon villa hotel, near to the University of Moratuwa.

The chief guest and the guest of honour of the occasion were District President Leo Kasun Pathirana. In his speech he mentioned the significance of the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa throughout its lionism & how it strengthened the District in difficult times.
Past president Leo Damith Amarakon also made a wonderful presentation on his year of the club revoking great memories of the good old days. District President Leo Kasun Pathirana inducted R.T.M.Dissanayake, Kushan Siriwardena, L.R.W.Wasantha, Sajith Senevirathne & Kalhari Soysa as new leos who will hold future of the club.

Lion Thulitha Piiyasena made an inspiring speech which explained how leonism helped him in his successful carrier. The installation was got more colourful by the year-gone-by and "Mada" presentations. Especially beauty of the venue, which was surrounded by Bolgoda Lake & the attractive decorations, added extra value for the occasion. It was a perfect start for the newly elected board & couldn’t be better than that. Finally, thank you very much visiting club members & others who were there for the occasion to making it a successful event.

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE - Awareness program about the share market

It was all about share market, just in the middle of a pocket meeting to discuss about future projects on up coming months. Most of the university students try to earn some money to spend their day to day life by using different methods. So what about introducing the share market to our batch mates……..it was not a just another idea, a great one.

So without any hesitation we talked about it in the same meeting. So we the UOM leo’s divided the responsibilities and as the first thing we contacted managers from the Colombo stock exchange as the knowledge distributors. So as they gave us a date to do the work shop, we discussed how to find sponsors for our workshop to overcome financial difficulties on printing material ,advertising and refreshments. So we had suggestion from one of our leo’s to add stock brokers as the financial supporters.

Next it was about how to do the advertising part inside and outside the university. As the first thing we did a poster campaign inside the university displaying the venue and the date ,here few of the posters we used…..

Not only posters,we even used the the facebook as method of advertising to pass the massage to other leo clubs. And also we displayed huge digitally printed cut outs in front of the university entrance.

After d things do make our project a success and it was 25^th of august we were at the venue ,electronic and telecommunication department university of moratuwa. It was a lecture room with a capacity over hundred students. As the guest speakers from the Colombo stock exchange were right on time at the premises, we started the work shop at 10.30 am with a warm welcome by the project chairman.

Guest speakers continued lectures for more than two hours with tutorials and hand books including information about CSE.

While the lecture was delivering some of the guest from CSE gave more information to individuals and they helped them to open new accounts on share market with the help from visiting stock broaking companies who were present at the occasion. So at the end of the lecture listeners were given a time to clear out their problems. By taking the best use of it most of the listeners raised hands to full fill their mistaken points.

පුංචි ළමයි මල් වගේ කියල හැමෝම කියනවා.එත් ඇයි හැමෝම එහෙම කියන්නේ ? ඔයාලට ඒකට උත්තරයක් තියෙනවද ?

පුංචි ළමයි මල් වගේ ලස්සන නිසාද ? එහෙමත් නැතිනම් එයාල ළඟ මල් වල සුවඳ තරම් වූ සුවඳ හමන ගතිගුණ තියෙන නිසාවත්ද ?
ඒ කොහොම උනත් මලකට හොඳ හැටි පිපිලා සුවඳ දෙන්න නම් හරි හැටි පෝෂණය ලැබෙන්න ඕනි . අවට පරිසරයත් මනස්කාන්තව තියෙන්න ඕනි. එතකොටයි මේ මුළු ලෝකෙටම සුවඳ දෙන්න මලකට පුළුවන් වෙන්නේ.
මලක් වෙලා පිපිලා තිබුනත් සතුටින් හිනා වේවි ඉන්න බවක් නොපෙනුණු මල් ටිකක් මේ ලඟදි අපිට නෙත ගැටුනා. ඉතින් අපි අපිට පුළුවන් තරමින් පුළුවන් වෙලාවක් ඒ මල් සතුටු කරලා ඒ මල්වල සුවඳින් අපේ ජීවිතත් සුවඳවත් කරගත්තා කිව්වොත් නිවැරදියි.
ලියෝ ලක්ශ්‍රි විසින් තමයි මේ වැඩේට මුල පිරුවේ. රාවතාවත්ත ළමා නිවාසයට ගිහින් ඒ අය එක්ක කතා බහ කරලා සින්දුවක් කියලා , නාට්‍යක් කරලා , තෑගි බෝග බෙදා දීල එන්න අපි තීරණය කලේ කලින් කියපු විදියට ඒ මල් ටික සතුටු කරලා ඒ තුලින් මේ ලෝකෙට ඒ මල් වල සුවඳ දනවන්න හිතාගෙනයි.
ඉතින් අගෝස්තු මාසේ 16 වෙනිදා අපි තෑගි බෝග ගොඩකුත් අරගෙන එයාලව සතුටු කරන්න වාදන භාණ්ඩ එහෙමත් අරගෙන ළමා නිවාසය වෙත පිය මැන්නා. එහෙ උන්නේ නංගිලා 13 දෙනෙක් . ඒ අය අපි එනකන් මග බලාගෙන උන්නේ හරියට දන්නා කියන කෙනෙක් එනකන් ඉන්නවා වගෙයි. ඉතින් අපිටත් ගිය ගමන් ඉඳන් ඒ අය අපේ ලඟම අය විදියට දැනෙන්න ගත්තා.
මුලින්ම ඒ අයව නම් වශයෙන් හදුනාගන්න අපි අමතක කලේ නැහැ. ඊලගට අපිවත් ඒ විදියටම නම් වශයෙන් ඒ අයට හදුන්වා දුන්නා. එතැනදී ළමා නිවාසයේ පාලිකා මහත්මියත් අපිට ලොකු සහයෝගයක් දක්වපු බව නම් මතක් කරන්න ඕනිමයි.

ඊළඟට අපේ ලියෝ සාමාජිකයින් ඔක්කොම එකතුවෙලා නංගිලා වෙනුවෙන් සින්දු කිහිපයක් ගායන කළා. ඒ අය සමහර සින්දු අපිත් එක්ක ගායන කලා වගේම සමහර පුංචි නංගියෙක් ඉඳහිට ඉදිරියට ඇවිත් නටන්න තරම් එඩිතර වුනා.

ඊළගට අපේ ලියෝ අයියා ඉදිරිපත් වෙලා ඒ අයට පොඩි තරඟයක් පැවැත්වුවා.දිනන අයට විතරයි තෑගි දෙන්නේ කියල ඒ අයව උනන්දු කරලා ඒ අයගේ දක්ෂතා එලියට ගන්න අපිට පුළුවන් උනා.

මුලින්ම දෙන්නෙක් සින්දු කිව්වා.ඊළගට තව නංගි කෙනෙක් අභිරුපණ රංගනයක් ඉදිරිපත් කළා.ඒ හැම දෙකින්ම ඒ අය සතුටු වුන වගේම අපිත් අප්‍රමාණ සන්තෝෂයක් ලැබුවා. පොත් පත් එක්ක ගැටිලා ගැටිලා හෙම්බත් වෙලා තියෙන අපේ හිත වලට ඒ සන්තෝෂය ලවනට වට මී බින්දු වගේ උනා කිව්වොත් නිවැරදියි.
අන්තිමටම ඒ අය අපූරු නාට්‍යක් ඉදිරිපත් කළා.ඒකට නම් ඔක්කොම වගේ නංගිලා සහභාගී වුනා.
ඒ අතරින් අපි හැමෝටම මතක හිටින රසාස්වාදයෙන් වැඩිම අංගය වුනේ එයාල දෙන්නෙක් එක්ක ඉදිරිපත් කරමු "ලේලි සහ නැන්දම්මා" නාට්‍ය කිව්වොත් මම නිවැරදියි.

මොකද ඒ පද්‍ය පන්තියේ පද්‍ය අපිට තවම මතකයි.ඒ කවි පන්තිය පොඩි කාලේ ඇහුවට පස්සේ ඇහුවේ එදා. ඉතින් අපිව අයෙමත් අපේ පුංචි කාලයට අරගෙන යන්නත් ඒ ආදරණීය නංගිලා සමත් වුනා.
අන්තිමටම අපේ පමල් අයියා , ලක්ජීව අයියා සහ ලක්ශ්‍රි අයියා එකතු වෙලා බොහොම ආදර්ශවත් නාට්‍යක් ඉදිරිපත් කළා.නාට්‍යයේ තිබුණු විහිලු වලට හැමෝම හිනා උනත් අන්තිමේ පුංචි නංගිලාට එකෙන් ගන්න ලොකු ආදර්ශයක් තිබුනා. ඉගෙනගත්තේ නැත්නම් අපිට වෙන දේ වගේම ඉගෙනගත්තම අපේ ජීවිත වෙනස් වෙන හැටි , යහපත් වෙන හැටි බොහොම ලස්සනට ඒ නාට්‍ය තුලින් පුංචි නංගිලාට අපි කියලා දුන්නා.

අවසානයේ අපි ඒ අය එක්ක ටිකක් වෙලා සෙල්ලම් කරන්නත් අමතක කලේ නම් නැහැ.මොකද ඒ අය විසින්ම අපිව ඒකට ඇදගෙන ගියා. ඒ තරම් ඒ අය අපි එක්ක සුහදතාවයකින් උන්න ඒ වෙද්දී.අන්තිමටම අපි ඒ හැමෝටම ගෙනියපු තෑගි බෙදලා දීලා ඉවරවෙලා පාලිකා මහත්මිය එක්කත් කතා කරලා බොහොමත්ම සන්තොෂමත් සිතකින් යුක්තව සහ ජීවිතය පිලිබඳ ලොකු අවබෝධයකින් යුක්තව එතනින් එන්න පිටත් වුනා.

අපි එතන ගත කලේ සවස් වරුවක් විතරක් වුනත් ඒ පුංචි මල්වල අනාගතය වෙනුවෙන් , සතුට වෙනුවෙන් අපිට පුළුවන් තරමින් උදව් වුනා කියන සන්තොෂමත් හැඟීම අපේ සිතේ තවමත් ඉතිරිවෙලා තියෙනවා.

අපේ මේ කටයුත්ත සාර්ථක කරගන්න පොත් පත් ලබාදුන්නු අපේ ගෞරවනීය "තෙරුවන" බෞද්ධ සංවිධානයේ සභාපති වස්කඩුවේ සිරි සරණ ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේටත්, ඒ වගේම නන්දන පතිරගේ මහත්මයාටත් අප සැමගේ ස්තුතිය මෙන්ම පුණ්‍ය අනුමෝදනාවද මෙලෙසින් පල කරන්නෙමු.

මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයීය ලියෝ සමාජයේ නව නිලධාරී මඬුල්ලට නව වර්ෂය සඳහා ආශීර්වාද ලබා ගැනීම ප්‍රදාන අරමුණ කර ගනිමින් 2011 ජුලි මස 29 දින සවස ලියෝ සමාජයේ සියලුම සාමාජිකයින් එක්ව වෑවල විජයාරමයේදී බෝධි පූජාවක් පැවැත්වූ අතර එයට සියලුම සාමාජිකයින් ඉතා කැමැත්තෙන් සහභාගී වනු දක්නට ලැබිණි. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් මාසිකව පවත්වන මෙම බෝධි පූජාමය පින්කමට සැම දෙනාම ඉතා කැමැත්තෙන් සහභාගී වනුයේ අධ්‍යාපන කටයුතු වලින් හෙම්බත් වී ඇති සිත් සතන් නිවා සනහා ගනු පිණිසයි.

ලියෝ සාමාජිකයින් වශයෙන් සමාජයට සේවය කිරීමට පෙර තමන් හොඳ මානසිකත්වයක සිටීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වේ. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් මෙය ඉතා අගනා අවස්තාවක් වන්නෙහිය. සියලු දෙනා සමඟ පන්සල වෙත පියමන් කර ගරුතර ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ බැහැ දැකීමෙන් අනතුරුව බෝ මලුව ඇමද , මල් පහන් සුදානම් කිරීමෙහි නිරත වූ අතර සැම දෙනාම එක්ව පහන් දල්වීමෙහි නිරත වුයේ ඉන් අනතුරුවයි.

මෙම පන්සල පිහිටා තිබෙන්නේ බොල්ගොඩ ගඟට ඉතාමත් යාබදව නිසාවෙන් ඉතාමත් සොමය වූ සිහිල් මඳ පවනක් අප ගත වටා එතෙමින් , ගතෙහි මෙන්ම සිතෙහිද වූ හැම වෙදානවක්ම සැහැල්ලු කරමින් සිතට අපමණ නිස්කලංක බවක් ගෙන ආ හැටි වචනයෙන් විස්තර කිරීමට යාම අසාධාරණ යැයි කිව මනාය. එය එහි ගොස් විඳ ගත යුතු සුන්දරත්වයක්මය. එලෙසින්ම පහන් දැල්වීමේදී එම මඳ සුළඟම අප හට බාධා කල අයුරු හරිම අපූරුය. එහෙත් අපි එකට එක්ව සුළඟ හා මිතුරු වෙමින් පහන් දැල්වීමට සමත් වූයෙමු.

මල් පහන් සුදානම් කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේ වැඩම කර සියලු දෙනා පන්සිල්හි පිහිටුවා අනතුරුව බෝධි පූජාව පවත්වා බලාපොරොත්තු වූ අයුරින් නව නිලධාරී මඬුල්ලට මෙන්ම සියලුම දෙනාට සෙත් ශාන්තිය ප්‍රර්ථනා කරන්නට යෙදුනාහ.

බෝධි පූජාව අවසානයේ නැවත අපි සරසවියට පා නැගුවේ කියා විස්තර කල නොහැකි තරමේ නිදහස් සිතක් සමඟිනි. සියලුම ලියෝ සාමාජිකයින් එකම අරමුණක් වෙන එකතු වෙමින් , තම චිත්ත සන්තානයන් දහමින් පෝෂණය කර ගනිමින් , අවසන සතුටින් විසිරී යාමෙන් එකිනෙකාගේ සිතට සතුටක් ගෙන ඒමට සමත් විය.

ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්ද

මුලින්ම හැමෝටම සුභ අලුත් අවුරුද්දක් වේවා කියලා ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරන්නම්. බක්මහේ ‍රැව්දෙන කොහාගේ නාදෙත් එක්කම එරබදු මලුත් හිනැහෙන්න පටන් අරන්. වෙනදා තිබුනු සංකීර්ණ ජීවිතයෙන් අයින් වෙලා හැමෝම තමන්ගේ නිදහස භුක්ති විඳින්න සැරසෙනවා. ඉතින් ලියෝ අපිත් සුපුරුදු ලෙසින්ම මේවරත් බක්මහේ අසිරිය විඳගත්තේ 'ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්දෙන්'.

මෙවර ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්ද බක් මහේ 24 වෙනිදා පැවැත්වුනේ නාවින්න ජයගත් පාරේ කෙළිමඬලේදී. පිට පිටම වසර ගනණාවක් මොර‍ටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාල පරිශ්‍රයේ පැවැත්වුනු ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්ද මෙවර පවත්වන්නට නොහැකි වීම ගැන නම් හිතේ පුංචි දුකක් නැතිවාම නෙවෙයි. මේ අවුරුද්දෙ වැඩි බර ඇද්දේ 306 A2 ලියෝවරු සහ සිංහයෝ.

උදෑසන 8.30 ට යෙදී තිබුනු සුභ මොහොතින් කිරි ඉතිරවීමත් සමඟම ලියෝ ගමේ වැඩ කටයුතු ආරම්භ වුනා. දැකුම්කළු රසකැවිලි වලින් පිරී තිබුනු ලියෝ ගමේ කෑම මේසය විවෘත කලේ උළෙලේ ප්‍රධාන අමුත්තා වූ සිංහාධිපති චන්ද්‍රා ක‍ටුවාවල මහතා විසිනුයි. එදින කෑම මේසයේ රස බලන්න කවුරුත් අමතක කලේ නම් නෑ.

ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්දේ ජන ක්‍රීඩා ආරම්භ වුනේ ගම හරහා දිවීමත් සමඟයි. සිනා මුවරදින් බොහෝ දෙනෙක් ගම හරහා දිවීම ආරම්භ කලත් එලෙසින්ම එය අවසන් කරන්නට හැකිවුනේ කිහිප දෙනෙකුට පමණයි. අවුරුද්දේ උදෑසන පැවති ජන ක්‍රීඩා අතර කනා මුට්ටියට ගැසීම, අලියාට අහැ තැබීම, හැන්ද මත දෙහි ගෙඩිය තබා ගෙන යාම, බනිස් කෑම, ගෝනි පැනීම, බෝතලයට වතුර පිරවීම වැනි අංග විශේෂ තැනක් ගත්තා. මේ අතර ඇදහැලුනු වරුසාවෙන් පසුබට නොවී එය තමන්ට ආසිරි මල් වරුසාවක් කරගන්නට තරඟකරුවන් වග බලා ගත්තා.

දිවා ආහාරයෙන් පසුත් ජන ක්‍රීඩා කිහිපයක්ම සංවිධානය කර තිබුනා. කොට්ට පොර ගැසීම, කඹ ඇදීම, සංගීත පු‍ටු තරඟය ඒ අතර විශේෂයි. ලියෝ ගමේ අවුරුද්දේ විශේෂිතම හා රසවත්ම අංගය වූ අවුරුදු කුමරා හා කුමරිය තේරීමෙන් පසු ලියෝ ගමේ වැඩ කටයුතු නිමාවට පත්වුනා.
