In the USA it is actually more useful in that it can search for local businesses – so you can tell Siri I’m hungry and it will find that you somewhere to eat.

Unfortunately in the United Kingdom this feature still hasn’t been enabled so when saying “I’m hungry” or “where am I” Siri just says sorry I can’t find businesses or mapping information where you are.

But Siri does know where I am despite claiming not to because if you ask Siri “what time is it” although he can’t tell you the time in the UK – it can tell you where you are to the exact street address

That raises the question – Apple why not factor in the ability to say to Siri where am I and at the very least show me on a map or tell me the exact street address that you already have gathered thanks to the time information?

It won’t matter soon as iOS 5.1 is rumoured to solve this problem.

I’m honestly not that bothered whether my domain name is ryan.morrison or ryanmorrison.co.uk – I’m not that vein.

But, saying all that it would be cool to have ryan.morrison as my domain – or me@ryan.morrison as my e-mail address.

I host my website with Fasthosts, they’re pretty good and have never had any problems with them – I’d now like to pitch them a business model.

A new .domain will cost them £124,000, they already have the server technology – so why not bid for a few of the new gTLDs – but specific ones – names.

If they register say the five most common surnames as gTLDs – as a British company that would include: .smith, .jones, .taylor, .brown and .williams, they could then sell the firstnames.

They could even do it in auction style – which would have lost of bids for john.smith but not so many for zeitgeist.smith.

Sell them for about £150 each and you only have to find 1000 .smith’s to make your money back.

Wikipedia says about 3 million people in the USA have the surname smith and 500,000 have it in the UK – finding 1000 people with that name shouldn’t be overly difficult.

You could start with wh.smith – I bet they would pay a premium.

From a personal point of view – there must be tens of thousands of morrisons in the world – so I’d also like Fasthosts (or similar) to register .morrison and give me ryan.morrison for free for giving them the idea (although I’m assuming they have already thought of it so just give it to me for good will).

He then used other cultural terms to also compare and sum up Jesus.

“Jesus was a great entertainer doing cool tricks all of the time, turning water into wine, making stormy weather fine. Even now his stunts confound us, kind of did what Derrin Brown does.”

 

The song was performed, it was approved by Jonathan Ross and his producer who felt it had a nice balance and was cheeky.

“And then someone got nervous and sent the tape to ITV’s director of television, Peter Fincham. And Peter Fincham demanded that I be cut from the show,” Mr Minchin said.

“He did this because he’s scared of the ranty, shit-stirring, right-wing press, and of the small minority of Brits who believe they have a right to go through life protected from anything that challenges them in any way. ”

Jonathan Ross said on Twitter: “Really gutted that the brilliant Tim Minchin song has been cut from my show. Decision was out of my hands.”

After the performance he said: “You’ve got some balls doing that in a Christmas show.”

The game is one of those annoyingly frustrating hidden object games. It says “use your time machine to locate hidden objects throughout history”.

It is produced by Playdom and is their only game in the top ten. Zynga have five games in the list but their most famous title Farmville is gone.

The Sims social is in second place followed by Cityville in third, DoubledDown casino in fourth and a game I might give a try Indiana Jones Adventure World in fifth.

Facebook Games – two words that are great on their own but when put together drive dread into the heart of anyone who doesn’t play them.

I like Facebook, it is a great tool for staying in touch with family, friends and as a new music DJ – new bands and solo acts.

I like games, there is nothing like sitting back on the sofa with a Playstation 3 controller in hand or an iPad 2.

I even to a certain extent like Facebook Games – as long as you keep the gaming activity to yourself – the problem comes when you feel the desire to bombard me with requests and updates.

I play The Sims and Civilization on Facebook, just not very well because I refuse to allow it to post to my wall or contact any of my friends – that isn’t social it is ANTI-SOCIAL – very very ANTI-SOCIAL.
