Bbq & Karaoke Party

The tropa decided to end the year 2010 with barbeque and karaoke party, so I gave in, and invited over the awesome friends at home.

It was fun-filled, and we really had a good time, singing and of drinking (non-alcoholic beer), but we did end up drank, "lasing kaka-kanta" heheheh (some of the captured year end moments below).

Had a lot of fun over at Kamsa-kamsa, Hai'r last Dec. 24. I was invited for a birthday party. Too much food, and yes, diet was set aside first, heheheh.

The place called Kamsa-kamsa because the entrance fee is SAR5, not bad, it's a big farm, almost 50 kilometers from the city center. During our visit, since it's Friday, and considering as well Dec. 24--the Christmas festive was really evident...too much Kabayan, my estimate around 5,000 Pinoys flooded the place, the traffc jam at the entrance was horrible, waiting time at least 30 minutes. And guess what...it's the moment as well of our Pinay Kabayan (a few of them) showed what's inside their Abayas (alam naman na bawal, pero revealing pa rin mga suot...an ice candy indeed to behold, heheheh). Well, for the sake of "decency" you'd not find the ice candy below :)

Culmination of 3rd AIBT 2010

On behalf of the Big Bosses of the company, we would like to congratulate the committee of the 3rd Aldrees Invitational Bastketball Tournament, shok'ran jaze'lan...you are all awesome for having impressed every one of your unconditional support, gee, it's quite a long league--July 9, 2010 to December 17, 2010 (single round robin).

To the Qanbar Team, you brought home the coveted prize heheheh...to the rest of the teams, our warm appreciation for joining the event.

To my team (being the Team Manager) of Petrol Team, better luck next time, anyway you're the 1st place, meaning you still displaced 13 teams all in all...sad to say, your Saudi Big Boss was around, cheering in high heavens for you to win, maybe the effort still not enough, kayo ba naman hindi siputin ng coach...grraaah! Considering ang lamang lang naman 3 points...indeed, some things are never meant for us. Anyway the cash gift of SAR300, approved and for disbursement this coming Friday, so be around at the kamsa-kamsa double celebration (Manoy's birthday and Camel party, heheheh)...should you guys made it, each of you will receive SAR1000, it was official, so we decided to reduced SAR700--anyway, pagdamutan na hahahah....better than nothing!

Yes, we are going to the championship game in the 3rd Season Aldrees Basketball Invitational Tournament.

The team which I am handling the ALDREES PETROL TEAM will be fighting against QANBAR TEAM on the championship game this coming Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at the Aldrees Open Court Complex, Nadeem, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The tourney is quite long, consdering it is a single round robin game. It started since July 9, 2010 and will be culminated on Dec. 17, 2010. There are 15 teams (12 invited teams representing various companies here in Riyadh, and the 3 teams are from Aldrees, the PETROL, TRANSPORT, & SUPER CAFE).

Win or loss...we will be celebrating either this Dec. 23 or Dec. 30, at the half-moon beach, Dammam.

English 101

English is not my first language—but I began studying it since I was five, as a part of school curriculum. I am proud of being a good user of one of the Universal Languages, and until this time, I never stopped learning the intricacies of this mighty Language.

A friend forwarded to my email this morning the stuff below, and I must say I give good credit to whoever is created this “humorous tool” for learners of the English language.

It is worth reading, have time of digesting how certain nouns really have confusing plural forms, har har har!

*ONLY THE ENGLISH COULD HAVE INVENTED THIS LANGUAGE**

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,

If the plural of man is always called men,
Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?

I am gasping of fresh air...don't know why things are so absurd lately.

I have lot of issues to resolve and they are ticking like time bombs ready to explode soon.

I need to hurry, to run fast--but my feet don't cooperate.

My office loads are way too light....I've been blessed to have lighter loads lately, maybe the massive work demands would come in two weeks time, it's year end, anyway.

Big boss would be in the office tomorrow, hopefully things would be much better as we have maturing short term loan to settle, and new project funding requirement.

Since my work doesn't cause any stress at all in the meantime...why then I'm afflicted with a heavy feeling feeling.

It's my fragile family, the biological one...

Even I want to avoid the thoughts of it...I can't help myself as I am part of a whole.

Why they are so immature, why they are so unreasonable, and why they have so much pride?

Or they are just plain stupid, not realizing the stigma of a broken family, the impact of separation to the innocent ones that don't deserve at all of emotional tortures.

I want to save them, it's not easy I know, but I must do it, for no one else is there that cared too much--so help me GOD!

Immaturity

The news smashed my face this morning, like a rustic dagger.

How could pride and prejudice are so damaging?

Mostly of marital problems are caused of miscommunications or misunderstandings. Why I discounted, infidelity? For me it’s very political in nature. It defies human logic.

More often than not, the marital problems if not patched-up at the earliest often led to emotional and psychological tortures, then separation. The worst of its kind, the casualties are children that do not deserve the misery of a broken family.

Well, I am a married guy—and am not at all naïve when it comes on marital infidelities. Marriage collapses, yes, but one can’t just simplify the reasons why it happens. Even love and trust are not assurance in the survival of marriage. I believe pressures melt trust and love (and what I mean of pressures—they are jealousies, temptations, misunderstandings, finances, etc). And when both partners have inappropriate egos, pressures are extremely hard to straighten-up. It is the pride that makes marital problems worsen as there is no one to give way, to accept faults, and usually ends up on blaming games. When harmony lacks in marriage—there is no unity, how can you keep the marriage then?

Obviously there are unresolved marriage issues that are supposed to polish out, but if partners are not willing to settle the issues, who would help them to settle the indifferences? It’s end game.

Why we are so idealistic? Isn’t it hard to understand that nothing works out if we are fault finders, just like in marriage, you can never attain perfection, only how to make your marriage life better.

Weeklong Escapades

It's the Eid Al Adha out here. And we've been blessed of a weeklong work off from Nov. 11-19.

What a way of spending the holiday by exploring my new notebook, LENOVO T410i.

Hope this machine would not be a pain in the as* afterwards, as I was really fed up with the one I replaced, DELL Inspiron--after only a year of using it, it keeps on giving me a blue screen, it's totally crap.

Deep breathes...the weeklong work holiday is culminating today, and sort of having a heavy head--it's I think the hang-over, nay not from wine but out of too much roving around. Been in the eastern province of the kingdom, visited my bro-in-law and good friends out there.

Need to wrap-up my things, I must wake-up early--back to normal routine tomorrow...

Thanks guys for sticking around, this blog really out of circulation, apologies--at times as am too lazy to update, pre-occupations are too much, I think that's the effect of not having enough functional brain cells, am not getting any younger, heheheheh...

Comfortably numbed

As to what extent one can measure the challenges that this life has to offer..?

There are no exemptions…even the innocent ones are being punished.

Life can be so simple…yet so complicated. Is problem cosmic in nature that once it strike life gets so messy? Or the problem itself is one’s twin in disguised since birth?

Sometimes the more you want to be stronger; the further you get weaker. Emotional torture paralyzes the brain, and you cannot escape the feeling of numbness which will lead you to drain of self-esteem. What do you think will happen if one becomes comfortably numbed?

People who are emotionally attached to you seldom know what it means to be connected.

Why total care is so elusive when you are dependent on something that you can easily grab? And love can really fill the feeling of emptiness? I don’t want to think that love is not intuitive. However, far-sightedness would result to overlook what is bare and essential to the eyes. And as we know, love maybe bare but our naked eyes do not see it; it is the heart. If I can just know what is inside the heart?

Ahhhh!!! Learn not to neglect the common. Everything is destined to last may it big or small.

Things seem so complicated, I feel so tired and fed-up, is it because I have a slight pain in my left foot..?

Why things need to get into your nerves? Why things counter-flow when you least expected them?

Such cause and effect theory works indeed at times.

If I can just control the ticking of clock and stop the world from spinning…

Wheh…too much stress—too little support.

Go on, never be a loser…this is a race worth fighting for.

There is always an exit; a light waits at the end of the tunnel. Don’t let your thoughts consume of obscurities.

Be wiser though in every move, each trial has always a lesson to draw.

One of the bizarre rulings that a judge given (the following article is taken from The New York Times)

4-Year-Old Can Be Sued, Judge Rules in Bike Case

By ALAN FEUER Published: October 28, 2010 "THE NEW YORK TIMES"

Citing cases dating back as far as 1928, a judge has ruled that a young girl accused of running down an elderly woman while racing a bicycle with training wheels on a Manhattan sidewalk two years ago can be sued for negligence.

The ruling by the judge, Justice Paul Wooten of State Supreme Court in Manhattan, did not find that the girl was liable, but merely permitted a lawsuit brought against her, another boy and their parents to move forward.

The suit that Justice Wooten allowed to proceed claims that in April 2009, Juliet Breitman and Jacob Kohn, who were both 4, were racing their bicycles, under the supervision of their mothers, Dana Breitman and Rachel Kohn, on the sidewalk of a building on East 52nd Street. At some point in the race, they struck an 87-year-old woman named Claire Menagh, who was walking in front of the building and, according to the complaint, was “seriously and severely injured,” suffering a hip fracture that required surgery. She died three months later.

Her estate sued the children and their mothers, claiming they had acted negligently during the accident. In a response, Juliet’s lawyer, James P. Tyrie, argued that the girl was not “engaged in an adult activity” at the time of the accident — “She was riding her bicycle with training wheels under the supervision of her mother” — and was too young to be held liable for negligence.

In legal papers, Mr. Tyrie added, “Courts have held that an infant under the age of 4 is conclusively presumed to be incapable of negligence.” (Rachel and Jacob Kohn did not seek to dismiss the case against them.)

But Justice Wooten declined to stretch that rule to children over 4. On Oct. 1, he rejected a motion to dismiss the case because of Juliet’s age, noting that she was three months shy of turning 5 when Ms. Menagh was struck, and thus old enough to be sued.

Mr. Tyrie “correctly notes that infants under the age of 4 are conclusively presumed incapable of negligence,” Justice Wooten wrote in his decision, referring to the 1928 case. “Juliet Breitman, however, was over the age of 4 at the time of the subject incident. For infants above the age of 4, there is no bright-line rule.”

The New York Law Journal reported the decision on Thursday.

Mr. Tyrie had also argued that Juliet should not be held liable because her mother was present; Justice Wooten disagreed.

“A parent’s presence alone does not give a reasonable child carte blanche to engage in risky behavior such as running across a street,” the judge wrote. He added that any “reasonably prudent child,” who presumably has been told to look both ways before crossing a street, should know that dashing out without looking is dangerous, with or without a parent there. The crucial factor is whether the parent encourages the risky behavior; if so, the child should not be held accountable.

In Ms. Menagh’s case, however, there was nothing to indicate that Juliet’s mother “had any active role in the alleged incident, only that the mother was ‘supervising,’ a term that is too vague to hold meaning here,” he wrote. He concluded that there was no evidence of Juliet’s “lack of intelligence or maturity” or anything to “indicate that another child of similar age and capacity under the circumstances could not have reasonably appreciated the danger of riding a bicycle into an elderly woman.”

Mr. Tyrie, Dana Breitman and Rachel Kohn did not respond to messages seeking comment.

The world is grounded, but no one is electrocuted.

Technology bridges the gap of almost everything in the world today. Reading this blog alone proves how a blogger in a certain area is capable of being noticed and read from different parts of the world.

Well, I presumed that technology paves way to have our civilization on its higher level. The following maybe a non-sense observation:

Application of Nanotechnology to almost every product (from food to child/adult’s diaper)
Sex change (sanity and madness)
Union Marriages (what is happening to the civilized world?)
Test tube babies and freezing of sperm cells from highly potential donors (male with blue eyes and athletic, according to one particular firtility clinic, the Finnish, Dutch, and Swedish males are the most in demand sperm donors)
Unstoppable rising of fuel prices in every corner of the world (while in Saudi Arabia its 0.15 U.S.cents per liter)
The rising inflations especially in Asia and the Middle East (keep instead a euro, than a dollar in your pocket)
USA finally adopts one of the real bases of democracy by having an African-American president, setting aside racism for a while.
World wide web (www) invades our privacies, homes, works, and controls or directs our lives (isn’t it online banking easier than queuing in the bank?). If before your favorite past time is reading books, now you're addicted to Facebook.
The wisest or dumbest inhabitants can become millionaire or billionaire by the click of the mouse through online gambling/casinos; and dog(s) becoming super rich in today’s era of hypocrisy and vanity.
And don’t be surprised if one day you have “10” look alike; you are simply CLONED!

3rd Season AIBT 2010

Been away for a while.

In tasked to be the Team Manager of our entry team to 3rd Season Aldrees Invitational Basketball Tournament 2010 (AIBT). Aside from that, yours truly is one of the committee members as well, so there were great deal of work loads to be done the past few weeks, and thanks God...they were all settled, as we opened last Friday, July 9, 2010--the said Basketball Tournament, well, with a big bang...every one had high praises as the kick-off of the tourney went well-organized and yes all the credits go to the committee and the rest of the staff.

My team coaches are Armel Trambulo and Mario Barba. Our team is the ALDREES PETROL TEAM, and we were lucky enough to win the opening game...it's a long way to go as there are (15) teams to play and the tournament will run until first week of December 2010.

I have a strong team, here is the group picture...Nay, I am not in the picture so please don't look for me, heh heh heh.

Parting indeed is such sweet sorrow!

We are all upset not because you're retiring after 28 years of stint in the company, but because we will not be seeing around a good colleague, a friend, and a brother for all of us.

You held various positions, of which the last 10 years of your employment, being the Collection Manager of Petroleum Division. We used to hang around, we used to be the early birds in the office giving me that very tasty cookies baked by your wife (peace be to her soul), you used to cheer me up when you happen to look at my countenance that by your fair judgement as if the world is against me. Thanks for always being there, reassuring me at times that I am like one of your sons, as I fondly tell you, "you're like my father, too."

Throughout these years you remained a very valued brother, and yes, I am lucky though as I am blessed to befriend one of the nicest persons in this world. You would always be a part of memories I treasure most.

Majestic birthplace

The grandeur of the active Mayon Volcano in Albay, Philippines, the place where I was hailed from.

It is true that there is no place like home for a home. If you are living afar from your birthplace, there is always the longing to come home every now and then.

An officemate forwarded to me by email the photo above asking if I happen to know the location of Mayon Volcano back in Philippines, and by chance I came from the place he is soliciting an info. heheheheh...he was even surprised when I said that my family is living in one of the houses nearby Mayon Volcano as seen in the picture.

It's a perfect shot, very much majestic to behold. I supposed the photo was taken aboard an aircraft about to touch down at the Legazpi City Domestic Aiport on a sunny day. You are indeed lucky if you happen to witness the same scene, as most of the time the volcano is covered with clouds. My travel tip for those who are planning to visit the place is, set your travel between February-March-April, these are the best months to travel to Albay, Philippines for you to have the perfect glimpse of the Mayon Volcano, the same as above.

Whoever was the one who took the photo, you really made a good job!

Cheaper petrol in this part of the world

Wealth is not properly distributed, just like the oil fields.

Come to think of it, if oil fields can be found anywhere at least there is no oil cartel and no sky rocketing of fuel prices because of enough supply.

According to the Financial Times, more than 60% of the world's proved oil reserves are in the Persian Gulf Region.

The leading middle east country that had been identified with sizable oil reserve is Saudi Arabia; comprising one quarter of the world's oil reserve, followed by Kuwait and Iraq.

Of course we all know the perpetual conflicts going on to some countries in the Gulf Region, one of the reasons is oil fields dispute. Others are not contented of what they have, they want bigger share of the pie to the extent of waging war to their brothers.

While the rest of the world there is the continuous soaring of fuel prices; in this part of the world cheaper price of fuel and petroleum products are enjoyed by the motorists.

Here in Saudi Arabia, there are two kinds of premium gasoline that are being sold in the petrol stations; the .91 octane which is 0.45 Halalas/liter, (around U$D0.12 cents); and the .95 octane which is 0.60 Halalas/liter (around U$D0.16 cents). And the Diesel, 0.25 Halalas/liter (around U$D0.07 cents). Cool isn't it?

Every one of us here enjoying the benefits of lower petrol prices. Since I'm working in one of the leading petroleum retail companies here in Saudi Arabia, one of the perks is a free gasoline allowance of 250 liters a month.

Well, some things are not meant to last...just like these oil fields. The main concern is, the deeper we dig the earth to extract these oil fields, the more we punish the one we called mother EARTH.

It's indeed an inconvenient truth.

Interrupted Sleep

My deep slumber interrupted at 3:05 a.m., I was breathless and almost choked to death...no, it's not a bad dream nor the stale saliva stuffed in my mouth obstructing my breathings, or an sleep apnea.

It's just that there are times that I wake up in the middle of the night, or on some occasions in the wee hours of the morning. It maybe a sign of aging as when I was younger I sleep deeply and soundly, totally oblivious of my existence.

The deafening noise of a/c unit in my room sounds like the poorly scored music notes in a horror flick. Fear creeps my senses as memories of the departed ones freshened...a brother who died of nightmare at the age of 21, an idyllic life cut short, my mum who succumbed to colon cancer at the time she almost enjoys a comfy life.

True enough that when a part of us separated, we would never be the same again.

We try to move on...

But our smiles can't hide the pains in our hearts.

Time can heal wounds, but never the pains and longings when our beloved lost.
