Aside from my ever growing baby, sweet and active toddler, pile of laundry and stuffs around the house, a part-time work at home job was added on my plate. I'm not talking about my freelance contractual work I do once in a while or my photography & artwork. I'm talking about being employed "again".

Still it's manageable, yet some of the things I like to do has to come at last end of the string these days...like blogging. But I want to stay on the course and keep blogging.

So, what's going on? I can't wait for spring! I'm so excited, I bought a running shoes today even I don't really run with my hubby. The last time I run with him was before we got married, when we were still in Winona Lake, IN. It was fall when we first run together. He's a good runner and although I was physically fit at that time, I hate running in the cold weather. I have to bundle myself in order to run...or maybe I didn't do the right thing or put the right outfit. Either way, I'll wait 'til it's warm and then we'll run together again.

One of my friend Barb suggested I share some recipes I cook sometime. Maybe I should try...I'm not the best cook, but I'll give it a try to share some recipes I make this coming season. In time for spring and pledge to run (when it gets warm), I'll start to experiment and share quick & healthy recipes...and even semi-homemades. I'm excited and I hope so are you! So you better bookmark this blog to make sure you'll get my recipes on your plate.

It's snowing and I guess it's probably been snowing since early morning. It's white everywhere, but it wasn't thick as back in northern indiana where hubby was from.

I can feel the winter breeze touching my face. I have a goal today aside from doing my regular household chores...to blog, as I haven't posted here since November last year. I had to welcome my first blog for 2010 with a warm pot of Beef Tikka Masala against the cold chilly weather outside. My hubby and I are a fan of Indian cuisine but we bid goodbye to eating out all the time (thanks to Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey). So, we aim to complete our kitchen/dining area to a global themed kitchen that will bring us to a fine restaurant or global cuisine experience every time we sit down to eat. Although we are not there yet...we began by painting our kitchen mustard yellow (never thought I'd like it). The color scream spices for me so I hope I'm opt for a good start. We want to paint the kitchen cabinets but we can't agree on which paint goes on it. Oh well...that'll come sometime.

I can smell the simmering pot of Beef Tikka Masala right now. I had to do it semi-home made almost in every cooking so I had to go with the jarred Tikka Masala sauce from "Kitchens of India" which my hubby and I really like. Try their Paste for Butter and Chicken Curry also for a quick curry dish. I still make my mom's dish which is the old-fashioned Filipino Chicken curry with pineapple. But above the rest, hubby's favorite is still Adobo & Sinigang.

Whenever this season of the year arrives, USPS always pays us a visit and sometimes, the guy in the brown shorts too! But today, one package is unexpected because I forgot my sister-in-law sent it. We got her coffees! One is our order from her coffee site and other extra FREE coffees! A lot of FREEBIES! And did I say FREEBIES loud?!

Christmas shopping comes with online ordering so I received in the mail one of my online orders which is a $1.00 winning bid from Ebay. Five pairs of 3T size Old Navy socks for my little girl. Gotta add some pairs of socks in her Christmas stockings.

Then we went to the doctor's clinic for the kid's routine check-up and immunization. Poor Caleb, he had several shots. He did well for the most part especially when we went to the mall to buy towels and bed sheets to add in our Balikbayan box.

As I'm trying to finish this blog, I checked the status online of one package I'm waiting to arrive. One from Overstock.com. I was hoping it'll arrive tomorrow, so, I went to my email and click the "track package status" which brought me to UPS website. I was stunned! The item status is already "delivered"??? What???

As I read each detail, I notice that it was delivered 11/16/09 at 1:48pm in Crescent Springs. Apparently, when I checked out at Overstock.com, I forgot to change my shipping address to our new one. Now, I just hope I won't have nightmares thinking about that tripod I ordered. My hubby was so nice and didn't get mad at me or maybe he's half asleep. I just hope that he'll find that package tomorrow at the front door of our old apartment tomorrow after his work.

To sum it up, we moved to the house we bought even we haven't close on that yet in August, then we sold our beloved small Hyundai Accent together with our GPS as a freebie with the car then bought a used white minivan to accommodate the additional car seat and stroller.

On the evening of September 2nd, Caleb joined our family. We also finally closed on the house on September and starts feeling the reality of all the responsibilities that comes with it :) But we are more than thankful to God for all the experience and learning along the road.

We've been going to a new church at the beginning of this year and found warm welcome and fellowship in the home group lead by our senior Pastor Bigney. But the move to the new house made us decide to find a closer home group. So, we started going to a new home group just few minutes from our house. The group made us feel welcome and as though we've known them for a long time already. We look forward to learn, grow and be equip with our new home group. We're thankful for all these undeserved blessings!

Christmas is not far from this month so we started decorating for Christmas last weekend. I was so excited that my hubby allowed me to do that even before Thanksgiving as we normally do it early in the Philippines.

Last night, we met with a family that goes to our church and also new to the area of Northern Kentucky. Like my hubby, they are also from Indiana! The husband is a commercial photographer in Amazon.com and they both like coffee! What a common ground to start of friendship.

We are supposed to close on the house last Monday but because we applied for RHS loan, the processing got delayed a little bit because of all gov't backlogged (according to our lender).

Earlier this week, I thought what should be our response on the situation? No, not to worry? But how do you not worry as time and days goes by, waiting to hear when is your closing date...the anticipation does grows. Today, as I read my devotion...I am reminded that my trust is in Him, my God who was with us from the beginning when we decided to buy a house and He will be with us until we close and move to this house. I admit, my doubting mind sometimes snatched out my faith but I'm glad that I have a big God that makes my troubles very tiny.

So, my response today is to trust in Him and wait patiently.

"And again, I will put my trust in Him." Actually, for the first few months...the baby will be sleeping in our bedroom on a used cradle we bought out of Craigslist.com and Gwen's old crib set will be re-purposed/re-finished for the baby boy Caleb.

Since the two rooms of the house we bought are on the first level while the 3rd bedroom is in the basement, it just make sense for both of them to be in the same room for a couple of years. We can't put the the baby or Gwen in the basement, far from our sight when the master's bedroom is on the first level. So, I kept searching and searching the net for inspiration or design concept on having two opposite-gender kids in one room and I found some!

Found this at Apartment Therapy's "OhDeeDoh.com" website which is Jackie and Joe's room. That is what I actually thought of, paint the crib set and furnitures white. It will go well with the existing room's paint color which is light green.

I can't get over the elephant in my head, so I better add this decals on the wall where the crib goes! Decals by DecalHappy.etsy.com

This decals are cool also to put in their room! Found this again at Apartment Therapy's OhDeeDoh.com website. One last inspiration I found was from TonyaJoy Photography. She posted her kid's vintage-inspired room. I'm tempted to go this route...modern-vintage black and white room. Hmmm...still deciding, but at least, there's still plenty of time to decide. I just wish my sisters are around to help me put it together as it's not fun having cramps and back pain lately.

:)

Now that we're done with looking for a house as we found the one we like, made an offer, and now just waiting for the closing date which is next month, we are trying to be patient waiting. A lot of things can happen in a month...but again, the "the waiting room" is a place for us to learn to be patient, strive to be creative (as we anticipate decorating the new house) and at the same time, be prepared of any unexpected events.

The amazing part is the contentment being in the "waiting room" . It's not always easy, but with God's grace, we can find peace just waiting. It's not like I'm being negative or not trusting God...but as I said, a lot of things can happen and as we continue to trust God with the closing of the house...we are thankful for going through the process from the beginning.

On the other note...as I tried to sell some stuffs away to unclutter our apartment...I want to share some home decor inspirations I truly dig.

Since we bought this cute Alta Baby "Dido" Bedding for our upcoming baby boy...

...I'm digging some elephant items for the baby/kid's room (the baby and our little toddler will share their room), like this Modern Retro Elephant by BabyBomb

This will definitely stimulate the baby's vision.

I wish I can get this one for their room also...so not just the baby will appreciate the elephant theme, but as well as my little toddler. Anyway, the baby will be with us with the cradle in our bedroom for quite a while before we completely transfer him to the their room. But my little toddler would definitely like this modern elephant decor for kid's room. Elefant by Richard Hutten

We had the thought of buying a house earlier this year but put it on hold for a while as we're not really sure if we 're ready to be home owners. After a few months, much thought and prayers...with the help of our family and friend's encouragement as well and their prayers, we realized we can...we can buy a house! Of course, that includes the financial planning stuff.

By God's grace, now we are in the process of getting everything in place and hopes to close by mid-July. What's funny is...we are moving to a town in a Kentucky where Tim brought me few months ago, and I said..."this is the last place we'll live in Kentucky". Now, here we are...I think on the way to moving there. It is a small town not too far away from Covington and Cincinnati (OH), but I came to appreciate the small town feel of it after driving there several times.

I'm so excited as well with the decorating process of having a new home. We've been renters for the past 3 1/2 years and this is very new and exciting moment. Well, I'll just post next time the design process I'll do. And by the way, it's an almost brand new house because the house was just built last year. God provides...and when He does, it's more than what we can imagine!

I remember the time when my hubby and I used to stroll around Worthington, OH...find a cafe or local coffee shop and just sit and hang out. A perfect location for us to talk while our little one at that time was snoozing on her cozy stroller. Of course, it is partnered with a perfect cup of coffee.

After moving here in Kentucky, overwhelmed by the transition and changes in our life...we lessened our café visit or tried not to go to coffee shops. We opted to make our own espresso and latte at home and grind our own coffee. It wasn't bad, with the economy...we did saved a lot by not going all the time to coffee shops. Although to be honest, I do missed the ambiance, music and the sound of the coffee being grounded in a coffee shop.

When my sister-in-law asked me to help her with her online coffee shop, I was more than willing to help her. Who can resist coffee...oops I mean who can resist my sister-in-law? She's such a sweetheart...and of course, can't resist the coffee! The mission of her site is to bring people together in one place online and experience good coffee. Visit Blarney Stone Cafe and see for yourself how you can experience good coffee and meet good people.

After the series of events in the past year, we have focused on the economy and how to bail out the failing big companies.
As a mom, the word NO is also a constant word coming out from my mouth. No, you can climb up there. No, you can't eat that because it's not good for you. No, you need to sleep on your own bed instead of sleeping on mommy & daddy's bed. No, you can't chase the ducks onto the water.
No...no...no...

These two words, HOPE and NO are very different words with different meanings but it is the essence of removing fear out of our lives. I can only say NO to my child for as long as I can and I will continue to love her no matter what. Needless to say, I'm continuously hoping that she will learn from the words NO and if she makes mistakes or fail, the word NO will remind her that there is tomorrow and it's time to get up and move on.

For more hope...go to www.townhallforhope.com

Not working on graphics design or artistic stuff but answering calls from customers similar to a call center manner.

Yeah, I got a temporary job as a work-at-home agent in a call center which supposed to be a one-month project. Unfortunately, the one-month term lasted for only a week as the call volume became low and the project has to end. It was like a whirlwind of changes last week as I start the new job and at the same time, our daughter started going to the daycare for the first time. All in the same week, my husband started his new shift as well which became one big week of transition for us.

But that week is done as I bid farewell to my fellow virtual co-workers last night. We called my daughter's daycare this morning that she won't be coming in this week anymore. As I think about it, overall...it was a cool experience but we have to face the reality that with this economy, anything can happen. Tomorrow, I start looking for a job again. Today, I'll enjoy my time with my daughter and hubby.

These prints invoke a painting-like scene. It's Groundhog Day and according to little Phil...we will have 6 more weeks of winter. The first snow falls I ever felt was only last 2005 when we used to live in Northern Indiana.

It was amazing to watch how the snow falls slowly from the sky as if it was falling on a slow motion. My sweet room mate asked me that night if I want to go walking out of the snow (that was around 1am).

We walked down the small village to the pier by Winona Lake. The snow was almost up to my knee. Barb Ruh, owner of Passionate Art Center.
The proceeds of the auction is now going to Metanoia Outreach which will be held at Amaina Christian Church located in Barangay Monteverde, Socorro Mindoro in the Philippines. The outreach was originally dated December 27-29 but later on was moved to January 9-11. Recently, because the organization is waiting for the 3 computers which will be shipped from United States to be donated to Amaina Christian Church, the outreach dates were moved again to January 23-24, 2008.

Find out about Passionate Art Center in Covington, Kentucky

Our journey began when me and my hubby made a vow 3 years ago in the small town of Winona Lake in Indiana. Since then, life was never easy yet every moment in our life together brings us more closer to each other and in every situation, draws us closer to God.

When we moved to Columbus, OH...it wasn't easy also. There are times when my hubby's parents has to lend a hand in our financial situation. Hubby lost his job several times while we raise our daughter who was turning one year old then. Yet, I could not stop thanking God for allowing us to go through that process in those times.

When my hubby got a job in Cincinnati, we knew this is where God wants us to be. It was a scary move because we don't have any savings but God opened the door for us to find a place to stay while we look for a permanent dwelling. Our friend's aunt and uncle were very gracious enough to have us stay in their house for a couple of weeks until we find an apartment.

Later last year, we decided that we wanted to move back to Winona , IN where my hubby's family is from. We've been looking and looking for jobs yet nothing has opened anything for us. We're almost in the brink of giving up yet we stopped hunting for jobs just before Christmas comes. It's not because we gave up...but we realized we need to step back a little and see a picture of us here in the place where God placed us a year ago. It was a hard decision to make...but God confirmed it more after Christmas that He calls us to serve outside of our comfort zone.

If I am going to sum up all His blessings to us last year...it's more than enough. Because one of the greatest blessing we had was having my permanent residency approved. I felt like I really existed in this land I live and much more.

This year, we are welcomed with great expectations. We have a lot to expect and at the same time, to give back to Him through service. I've been delayed for almost 9 days already...and although we haven't made any blood test or official testing, I can feel changes in my body that I have someone inside of me. I'm still hoping to find a full-time job, yet I am laying it all down to God. It's a year of expectations, expecting a new one...a new job...and hopefully a mission opportunity to serve in my home country.

Well, I am halfway through it. I was inspired by an article in EcoEtsy blog on tips in wrapping up my Christmas gifts. I tried not to buy any Christmas wrapper or paper bag and re-used whatever I have in the closet. I found some old IKEA Christmas wrapper that was from last year. Paper bags that came with the gift we received from last year are good to go to be re-used for this year. For those bags that was marked or teared, I just cut it out and used it as a wrapper. It's a good wrapper especially for fabric items.

After I ran out of my reusable wrapper/bags, I turn to a roll of kraft paper inside the closet. Well, I normally use it in shipping an ordered item but this time, I will use it as wrapper. To add some color, wrap it with thrift store ribbons with stylish tags.

This Christmas tags by WhatsEatingYin would make a perfect match!

As I mentioned before, I am only halfway of wrapping all our gifts. That is because we do most of our shopping online. Another eco-friendly way to save gas and your energy is to shop online. To save on shipping, I google for free shipping coupon code.

Finally, giving a re-used item as a gift is okay. For our two nieces, because they will be getting an American doll from their grandparents, we thought of getting a dress for each of them with a matching dress for their dolls would be a good idea. So I hunt and hunt for the perfect dress. It wasn't easy though as I have to find two dresses that both of them can wear at the same season with the right match for their dolls. I thought of just making it myself but I'm afraid I won't finish it in time before we go to Indiana.

Finally, I found one pre-owned yet new and another pre-owned used pairs of dress. If you are giving a re-used item as a gift, make sure that it has been pre-washed if it's a clothing or size fits. If it's electronics, test it . I'm excited to go back in the workforce. My last job was in the ad agency and that was three years ago.

I got an email from a friend of mine today about a good news with a possible job she can get anytime now after a very fast interview phase with the corporate heads. What's amazing was it wasn't "just" a job. It was her "dream" job. I was so happy after reading her email and how events came in this year which brought her to a decision to go back to the corporate world. She has been sought many times by her previous company, but she always wanted to do or find that "dream" job.

So how do we find that "dream" job? I thought at this point of my life now, I don't have a dream job anymore. Why? Because I worked, worked and worked before I met my husband now? Because I got pregnant and stayed home? That if I go back to work full-time again outside home, I'll just take any possible job to help support my family?

Just as I thought of these things, I realized I'm putting this God I believe and love in a box that eventhough I know He loves me, He can just give me "just" any kind of job even I don't like it. Expect the unexpected, those were big words for me 3 years ago. Somehow, as life changes and many trials unfold, this big words became a cliche. I realized that while I do the things that's in my control while applying for jobs, I have to put my trust in Him. My take is expect big from a big God and be prepared to face people who can discourage me.

"Sow a thought and you reap and action. Sow an action and you reap a character."

Last Labor Day Holiday, we spent our weekend with my hubby's family at Winona Lake, IN. It was a blast we gathered with his whole family on Sunday afternoon for pizza made by my hubby's dad. My mother-in-law made me two of my favorite cakes. One is red velvet cake and the other one was upside-down cake. The next day, we had a lunch party while soaking under the sun at their backyard pool with steaks, pasta, mushroom rice, mac 'n cheese, salads, deviled eggs and pie. Corn hole game was a hit also. We had a photo shoot in the afternoon as part of the family's portraiture every 5 years. This year, they sure did had a lot of additions in the portraiture. I am one of them, my daughter Gwen and her two other cousins.

Yesterday, my hubby learned that his parent's house was now sold. They lived there for 15 years and as summer has come to end, their legacy in the house at Orchard Drive will still continue to live. Although I came to the family just 3 years ago, the house has always been full of life. Aside from his family, the house became a place for his parent's friends to stay for an out-of-town visit in Winona Lake, has housed several Grace College students and even opened it's door to Wagon-Wheel theatre actors in Warsaw, IN. Almost a month ago, my hubby's dog Rusty sang his last song in the house before he was put down. That last song will be our last song too...

Some women try to shun the thought of turning 30 in their lives, but for some reason...I am actually excited.

Rewinding back...I will try to rewind back when I was 13.

I just graduated elementary.

I remember going to my first youth camp at Mariveles, Bataan...where Death March took place during World War II.

I like wearing cut above-the-knee jeans.

Grunge and battle of the bands are popular.

Plain t-shirt with silkscreened personal names are popular.

I entered the world's largest highschool (in population).

I had to wear the white collared shirt and plaid skirt and tie in school (that's our uniform).

...and oh so many memories entering highschool that some I couldn't remember.

So here's my etsy finds in line with my 13 going to 30... (hahaha, don't really think I made sense but just enjoy my etsy finds!)

Original Fine Art Photograph by EverydayMoments

Retro plaid necktie by pearb09

Gingham bead bangle bracelet by AnnieandOlive

Life is a Journey Wall Decal by TextStyle

and Good Plans by LifeVerse
