Isn't that what they say? Verity Hill knows this truth intimately. She didn't simply miss Wright "Monk" Bellamy when they parted ways in college. She's haunted by his touch. Every kiss, any lover since—it's a shadow of what they had.

Time heals all wounds. Isn't that what they say? Monk doesn't believe that for a second. He wasn't simply betrayed when he and Verity split. With Monk, now a world-class musician, creating the score, and Verity, an award-winning screenwriter, penning the script, there's Oscar buzz before shooting even begins. This once-in-a-lifetime project could catapult them both to new heights, but can they can put the past behind them for the sake of the film … for the sake of something more?

Pre-order your copy of Score today!

The Forthcoming:Vengeance:Anna J,Octavia Grant,Olivia Renee Wallace:Release date:April 25,2026

For years, Tyrone Houston was known as the quiet, dependable man who ran the Houston Family Funeral Home and Crematorium. A man who saw the dead every day - and treated them with care.

Or so everyone thought.

When Tyrone dies, his children receive a shocking final request: a scavenger hunt through his past. Now, as Remi grieves the sudden death of her beloved husband of 25 years, and Bianca struggles with the fallout of a divorce she didn’t see coming, the women are amid their greatest challenges yet.

Remi and Gerard spent their honeymoon and summers in Napa and on the Sonoma Coast. Their love of wine led them to buy a Victorian home in Wine Country—and then a winery on the site of an age-old vineyard. They spoke endlessly about retiring to run their winery. But with Gerard gone, Remi must sort through his things and reevaluate their assets, and her future.

Bianca is grateful to be there for Remi. After all, Remi was her rock when Bianca’s husband left—and throughout the breast cancer diagnosis that followed. Now in remission, and with her daughter a thriving college freshman, Bianca hopes for a brighter future. But when Remi unearths a secret about her late husband so shattering even Bianca can’t help, the past casts a shadow over everything—and everyone . . .

Emotional and relatable, here is a captivating novel of the bonds of friendship, the power of love and forgiveness, and the revelation that sometimes comfort lies where you least expect it.

Pre-order your copy of Sunset Over Napa Valley today!

The Forthcoming:Savvy Summers and the Po'boy Perils: A Mystery (Savvy Summers Mysteries, 2):Sandra Jackson-Opoku:Release date:July 21, 2026

Savvy has her work cut out when an old friend hires her to cater a company luncheon at a nearby office building on Chicago's South Side. Stepping out of her traditional soul food comfort zone, Savvy whips together a menu of Creole classics, with her own spin, of course―mini po’boys with assorted fillings, sunburst salad, and bread pudding using Great Aunt Essie’s famous buttermilk biscuits.

But when someone is found dead in the company’s conference room, Savvy’s culinary creations are suddenly in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. While the focus should be on their delicious flavors and inventive techniques, Savvy’s beloved café instead becomes the center of a murder investigation once again.

Caught within a messy web of gossip, miscommunication, and fraught coworker relationships, Savvy will have to settle the confusion to clear her name. Somebody’s hiding something, and with the help of her trusty assistant manager, Penny Lopés, Savvy sets out uncover exactly who is to blame. With familiar faces turning up the heat on her investigation and her café still in hot water, will Savvy be able to save her reputation before it’s too late?
<p style="box-sizing: border-box; Smart, focused, and determined to protect her future, she knows better than to mix business with pleasure, especially when the man in question signs her paycheck.

Terrance Beckham has it all: power, prestige, and an industry reputation that opens every door. What he doesn’t have is love that isn’t influenced by his fame. Tired of being desired for the wrong reasons, Terrance steps into the online dating world under an anonymous profile, determined to find something real. What he finds is Mona.

Online, their connection is effortless and intoxicating. Offline, it’s complicated by secrets, proximity, and a truth that could destroy everything before it begins. As outside pressures mount and past relationships refuse to stay buried, Mona and Terrance must decide whether revealing the truth is worth risking their hearts and their careers.

In Hollywood, fantasy is easy. His image is on the verge of being ruined by a social media influencer. The problem is that Wesley doesn’t know who this influencer is and how she has all of this personal information. Wesley’s grandmother Joyce is the head of the Batchelor Corporation and she wants to see him succeed. Joyce has hired a private investigator to see who is behind this social media mess. But when Wes finds out that the private investigator is his ex Albany Keyes, things get tricky. Albany is trying to get her life back after a messy divorce. The last thing she needs to have any interaction with Wes. What will she do?

Scandal, secrets, and lies are what you’ll find in the Ex Dilemma by Elle Wright. by Aaron Philip Clark is a gripping, atmospheric crime novel that draws you in through its mood, depth, and emotional intensity. Rather than relying on nonstop action, Clark builds tension through strong character development and a steadily unfolding sense of unease that keeps you invested.

This is the third book in the series of ex-cop turned PI Trevor Finnegan. Trevor is tortured, at times impulsive, but he has morals and is always looking to do the right thing and bring to justice the wrong doers. This time, he’s faced with a personal dilemma. One that he really doesn’t want any involvement in. But because of his dad, he’s kind of forced into solving the crime.

One of the novel’s biggest strengths is its characters. They are complex, flawed, and deeply human, making their choices feel believable even when they’re troubling. The author excels at exploring moral gray areas, prompting readers to think about justice, loyalty, and the cost of survival. The setting adds to the novel’s power, creating a dark, immersive backdrop that reflects the characters’ inner struggles.

Overall, The Bluest Night stands out as a compelling read that goes beyond a typical crime novel. It’s a great choice for readers who enjoy character-driven stories with emotional depth and plenty to talk about afterward.
<p class="p2" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); Her mother works very hard and warns Zaniyah as best as she can about the dangers of the streets. But will Zaniyah find out before it’s too late? Officer Morgan Johnson is on the case of trying to find Zaniyah. Meanwhile, she’s still wondering if she wants to stay on the police force.

What Happened to Zaniyah? is a gritty, cautionary tale by Anna J. This story takes a hard look at the dangers of what a teen in today’s world can face on social media. Anna J pulls no punches on showing what can happen when even present parents can miss what their child is really doing. This book is a prelude to CopyCat, which is book three in The Hunt series. However, you do not need to read The Hunt in order to read this book. But you will want to read The Hunt after reading this story. This book is not for the faint of heart so please proceed with caution. What Happened to Zaniyah? is not only an excellent book for adults, but also a book to read and discuss with your teens.

Reviewed by Radiah Hubbert

Get your copy of What Happened to Zaniyah? today!

Open Call for Author Tables: 18th Annual Great Midwest Book Fest:Now Open! With bold narratives, high-glam energy, and heroine-centered plots, Shelia brings heart, heat, and sophistication to every page. She is the author of more than twenty-one books, including the Essence bestselling My Invisible Husband and the critically acclaimed The Joneses and Delilah. USA Today praised her, saying, "Goss has an easy, flowing style with her prose." An AAMBC Romance Author of the Year and Library Journal Best Books honoree, Shelia continues to make her mark in both the literary and screenwriting worlds. Her work spans multiple genres, but romance remains her heart and passion.

Radiah Hubbert: Tell us about Worth the Risk.

Shelia Goss:Worth the Risk is a glamorous, emotionally layered romance set in the high-stakes world of Hollywood. The story follows an ambitious woman who has built her career under the spotlight and a man whose fame brings both opportunity and temptation. As their attraction grows, secrets and public pressure threaten everything they are trying to build. At its core, the novel explores love, trust, ambition, and what it really means to risk your heart when the whole world is watching.

RH:What made you come up with this storyline?

SG:People often view celebrities as characters rather than real people, but I wanted to explore the reality behind the image. Celebrities experience the same emotions and challenges as everyone else. They fall in love, get hurt, make mistakes, and try to navigate relationships while living under constant scrutiny. Setting the story in Hollywood allowed me to examine fame and vulnerability side by side and highlight the human side that exists beyond the spotlight.

RH:Can you give us a sneak peek at book two?

SG:No One Has to Know is a seductive, emotionally charged romance set behind the scenes of Hollywood power. The story follows a driven woman navigating the early stages of her career and a high-profile man searching for connection beyond his fame. When an anonymous online relationship blurs into real life, desire collides with secrecy, ambition, and professional risk. As truths threaten to surface, both must decide what they are willing to sacrifice to protect their hearts and their futures. At its core, the novel explores identity, vulnerability, and the cost of honesty in a world built on image.

RH:If you could give aspiring and new authors one piece of advice, what would that be?

SG:Write consistently, even when it feels uncomfortable. Growth doesn’t come from waiting for inspiration, it comes from showing up to the page and doing the work. The more you write, the more confident and skilled you become.

RH:As an author that has been in this industry for a long time, what is the biggest lesson that you've learned?

SG:The industry changes, and not every book will get the same attention, but staying consistent and true to your voice is what keeps you going. Every project adds to your growth, and patience matters just as much as talent.

RH:Where can readers find you?

SG:Email: sheliagoss@aol.com

Website: www.sheliagoss.com

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shelia.goss

Instagram: @sheliamgoss

Click here to see the review for Worth the Risk

New Review: Worth the Risk: Shelia Goss

4 out of 5 books

Charlotte Richards has built her own brand from the bottom up. Cheryl McKissack Daniel brings us the miraculous story of how her company was started and how it is thriving even today. She is the fifth generation of the McKissack family that runs this 200-year-old business.

This book also gives readers the McKissack family history from slavery to the present and how the construction business was born. The McKissack family is responsible for many buildings on Fisk University campus as well churches, and other projects in New York. The Black Family Who Built America shows that the McKissack family should be included in the same breath as the Ford’s, Rockefeller’s, and others of being one of the pioneers that built America.
<p class="p2" style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); They have been invited to move from Connecticut by Harriet’s cousin, Junetta Plum, who runs a boardinghouse for independent-minded single women.

It’s a bold move, since Harriet has never met Junetta, but the fatalities of the Spanish flu and other tragedies have already forced her and Lovey to face their worst fears. Alone but for each other, they have little left to lose—or so it seems as they arrive at sophisticated Junetta’s impressive brownstone.

Her cousin has a sharp edge, which makes Harriet slightly uncomfortable. Still, after retiring to her room for the night, she finally falls asleep—only to awaken to Junetta arguing with someone downstairs. In the morning, she makes a shocking discovery at the foot of the stairs.

What ensues will lead Harriet to question Junetta’s very identity—and to wonder if she and Lovey are in danger, as well. It will also tie Harriet to five strangers. Among them, Harriet is sure someone knows something. What she doesn’t yet know is that one will play a crucial role in helping her investigate her cousin’s murder . . . that she will be tied to the others in ways she could never imagine . . . and that her life will take off in a startling new direction.

Pre-order your copy of The Mysterious Death of Junetta Plum today!

The Forthcoming:The Ex Dilemma (Batchelor Life Book 1):Elle Wright:January 27, 2026

Wesley Batchelor is desperate for an image reboot—stat. A mysterious social media influencer keeps revealing his many reckless romantic liaisons, putting everything Wesley has worked so hard for at stake. Worse, he’s in deep trouble with his grandmother and Batchelor Enterprises boss, Joyce, his one and only true cheerleader. So he’s stunned and relieved when his gorgeous ex, private detective Albany Keyes, is recruited to track down the leaker . . .

All Wes has to do is keep a cool-headed professional distance. Easy, right? Until the incendiary passion between him and Albany suddenly reignites. And he realizes he wants more from her—just like always . . .

For Joyce's sake, Albany reluctantly accepts the assignment to aid Wes. After all, she needs the money to regroup after a disastrous divorce. But this time, she's going to call the shots. She doesn’t need her heart re-broken by the only man she's ever loved. He’s trying his best to fit in without drawing too much attention to himself. There is a storm brewing inside Yasir that he doesn’t understand. Why does his eyes change colors and where is this extreme heat coming from on his skin? His family always warned him to be careful. But no one ever told him about his past and exactly what he is. To further confuse things, Yasir notices a quiet beauty named Zahra that peaks his interest. What is a young man to do?

Shakir Rashaan brings us into an entertaining paranormal world with Sageborn. Rashaan does a good job with bringing Yasir’s story to life. It was refreshing to see an African American male teen as the lead character in this kind of story. Rashaan did an excellent job with keeping the same elements of the prior release of this book while adding more exciting elements. You get more insight into Yasir’s surprising background as well as Zahra and other characters. Yes, this is a teen & young adult book but adults will enjoy this too! Sageborn is full of magic, secrets, heart-stopping action that will get you ready for book two.

Reviewed by Radiah Hubbert

Get your copy of Sageborn today!

The Forthcoming: A Tricky Situation: Marlon McCaulsky : Release date : October 3, 2025

Falling in love is the easy part, maintaining your relationship is where it gets tricky.
