I clean houses and small offices. I am thorough, organized and efficient; and I use green cleaning products. I am trustworthy; I can provide a list of references upon request. I work part-time for the education non-profit Open Meadow in Portland and clean on the side. (My supervisor Open Meadow posts and participates with UrbanMamas and recommended this site to me!)

I am available to clean on a regular basis, occasionally or as a one-time thing. I can ready your house for the holidays—clean and sparkling, set to host guests and parties. I can also help you tidy after events.

I also specialize in organization. I can help you organize your home more efficiently and assist you in weeding through old junk to figure out what to keep or throw out.

My rate is $17/hour. (Rates negotiable for regular/multiple-hour gigs, etc. )

Babies Say No To Toxins

Millions of babies are crawling to Washington D.C. Why? To demand reform of the Toxic Chemical Substances Act (TCSA). Current law does not require that companies list all ingredients on the labels of common cleaning and baby products. And only 250 of the 80,000 chemicals on the market have been tested by the EPA.

Seventh Generation and Safer Chemicals Healthy Families are teaming up to educate parents about the dangers of using these products and to introduce stronger regulations on the chemical industry. The TCSA has not been updated in over 30 years! Just think of all the things we've learned about plastics in the last three years!

This is an important cause since the use of these chemicals affect the health of our families and our environment. You can help protect your family and future generations by supporting this campaign.

Looking for ecofriendly infant seat

Hello Urban Mamas!

I am looking for an ecofriendly infant seat, one that does not say that it was inspected by the California bureau of home furnishings (the bureau sprays fabrics with fire retardant chemicals).

Does anyone have ideas? I would just love an environmentally safe seat that my baby could have fun sitting in while I play, read and sing with her.

A Licensed Professional Counselor and new mom, Kassie W. Hughes specializes in group therapy for body image disturbance and eating disorders. She has over 13 years experience as a trainer and therapist, and utilizes an eclectic blend of mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and practical wisdom.

Flu vaccine for 6 month old?

My son will turn 6 months old in 3 weeks, which will make him eligible for the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccines, but our pediatrician's office has run out. They referred us to pharmacy clinics, but those appear to only provide vaccines to ages 2 and up. Can anyone tell me where to take him?

Does anyone know anything about homeschooling?

Hi, I have a seven year old daughter who has attended kindergarten and first grade. I am keeping her home and home schooling her currently because I am trying to protect her from getting H1N1 until the vaccine is available. But I noticed a huge change in her!!! The snottiness she picked up last year and the year before is fading away. So I am seriously considering this option of home schooling, but I would like more info. before I make up my mind.
