Description: littleSUNDAY is the epitome of Canadian rock music: strong rock songs with catchy melodies, powerful vocals and solid song-writing

Biography: In the spring of 2011, littleSUNDAY began work on their newest recording project, 'peace.love.goodkarma'. Described by drummer Eric Bonatti as a 'labor of love', the new album is shaping to be a 14 track collection of songs that not only test the band’s versatility in creating `light and shade,' but more importantly, the new album will showcase the their ability to become story tellers:

"Throughout my musical journey with littleSUNDAY, I had the privilege of meeting many new people. I'd hear their stories about love, loss pain and joy. I kept a personal journal where I reflected on these experiences and realized I had a guide for living life. The morals we learn from real life experiences truly put our personal lives in perspective. I soon became obsessed in sharing them through song. What came next was a collection of music that literally wrote themselves." (Rick Farrell)
What is peace.love.goodkarma? On December 1st, 2011, littleSUNDAY released “Panic Room”, a feeler track. Riding on nothing more than positive vibes and a dash of littleSUNDAY DIY magic, the band serviced Panic Room grassroots style, to a handful of radio stations. The response paid off! From Halifax to Vancouver, to Northern Ontario all the way to Southern Texas and Sao Paul, Brazil, Panic Room quickly reached radio station airwaves:

“We never imagined that the song (Panic Room), would create such a high traffic of interest, let alone radio airplay. We must be doing something right after all these years, LOL.” (Mario Stamegna)
What is peace.love.goodkarma? littleSUNDAY was formed by a twist of events that lead to the ultimate union of its four members. In fairy tale fashion, drummer Eric Bonatti, guitarist JP, and bassist Mario Stamegna discovered their lead vocalist, Rick Farrell, who would became the final and most influential member of the band.
"littleSUNDAY delivers an exciting stage show reminding me of my arena rock heroes of the 70s. Their original sound unquestionably raises the bar of today's music" (Chris White, Publisher / Party in Kingston)

When people think of York Region musically, they don't think of hard rock with pounding bass and drums, wailing guitars and vocals that make you pay attention. But, that's exactly what littleSUNDAY is. They are a straightforward rock band that make most Toronto bands look like amateurs.
The Suppliers are a Canadian 4-piece rock band, comprised of Ashtyn Beaudette,
Sean Friend, Robito Cortez and Kirill Telichev. The Suppliers "are a powderkeg
packed with melodicism and lit with the spark of raw, rock intensity, that draws
inspiration from acts that range from Blondie to Nirvana and The Black Keys."
(Calgary Herald, 2012). Having formed in 2010, the band immediately locked
themselves up in studio for close to two years to produce their first full length
album - a no-holds-bar pop-rock-punk frankenstein. The album was released
September 14th, 2012 to a record-breaking attendance at Dickens, one of Calgary's
more prominent mid-size original rock clubs. Aside from a well received debut, the
group was selected as Xposure Winners 2012 by Calgary's Alternative Rock station
(X92.9), confidently won the "fan choice" vote to kick off 2012 XFEST, and held
their own alongside Linkin Park, Silversun Pickups, Mutemath and more. Delivering
an explosive rock show, and with sights set on touring and second album, one thing is
for certain - this Canadian band is worth keeping an eye on.
Debut Album

The Bloody Angle plays southern-fried swamp rock,
with a touch of Americana and a hint of country. Gritty guitars, lap-steel,
and finger-picking support vocal harmonies and traditional keyboard
tones. The sound conjures the southern countryside, civil war battlefields
and back road watering holes. Influences include Drive By Truckers, Jack
White and Neil Young.

The eponymous debut album hit the street on October
16, 2012. The album was recorded entirely in the analog realm, at producer-songwriter
Matt Singleton’s studio in the Central Virginia countryside. “We
wanted to produce a record that was warm, immediate, and spontaneous.”
quotes Singleton. “This album was a direct backlash against the modern
style of making music… no edits, no grid, no auto-tune. We wrote
and performed together in the studio, and captured the songs to tape
as they came out, warts and all.” When the record was finished,
the band had the vinyl masters cut directly from the analog tape. “As
far as we can tell, there is only one guy around who even does this
anymore. Carl Rowatti, at Trutone Mastering Labs in New York. We went
up and watched him cut it. So cool.”

The songs toggle between personal stories and character
driven studies. The common thread is the southern landscape, where the
stories live among the soldiers, drunks, bible-thumpers and other characters
that Singleton either encounters, inhabits, or pulls from the pages
of history.

The band is named after a section of the confederate
line at the battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, during the Civil War.
The fighting there was particularly intense, with over 18,000 men killed
or injured in a 24 hour period of hand-to-hand combat. “We wanted
the name to be on the dark side, to have some local roots, and have
an element of southern history.” says Singleton. “In fact,
one of the first songs I wrote when we started working on this project
was an illustration of this battle, from a young confederate soldiers
point of view. It ended up being the first song on the record.”

The Bloody Angle was formed when Singleton and guitarist
Jason Butler got together in early 2011. “Jason had just had a project
go south on him, and I had been out of the performing scene for a while,
focusing on producing and recording other acts from up and down the
coast.” says Matt. “He posted on Facebook that he was looking
to start a project, and I gave him a shout.” Singleton had produced
a record for Butler’s band Whitebird in 2005, and they had enjoyed
working together. “We knew we had similar influences, and ideas about
how a record should sound.” Says Butler. “It was pretty apparent
from early on that we had a good chemistry, and that our playing complimented
each other well”. After about six months of writing and demoing, they
brought in drummer Dustin Bugg and bassist Brian Temples, and started
working on the album in earnest. “Dustin, Brian and I had already
played together in a project in the early 2000’s, so it was a pretty
easy call to bring them in” says Singleton. “We wrote a song
together the first night in the studio in about 20 minutes.”

After over a year in the studio, the band is excited
about the upcoming release, and live performances. “We have all been
doing this a long time.” says Singleton. “The chemistry is
there. It’s been a long time coming, and we are pretty proud of this
record. We can’t wait until it drops, and we hit the stage to bring
it live”.

Do to lack of a deep pocket and a big staff, I have taken word for word the Press Release below about this band because this new album is one that I have listened throught all the tracks and enjoyed. When I say all the Tracks I mean the entire album's worth of 10 tracks. A Rarity!!!

Amazing that it is two members, takes me back to Timbuk 3, First time seeing them I expected a full band only to discover it was two members. Read below and tune into Urock Radio to hear tracks from this upcoming album.

Release date: March 5, 2013The Boston Globe sums it up, “Little band. Big Sound.” No more needs to be said. Although the only thing “little” about Sirsy is there are just two of them. The rest is bigger than balls on a buffalo.

Listen to the power in their latest recording “Coming Into Frame”. You can feel it. It’s crank-up the volume music, even when the heartfelt ballads kick in. And why so much power? Melanie Krahmer on drums and vocals, Rich Libutti on guitar. That’s why.

And, according to Sirsy a lot of credit goes to Grammy-winning producers, Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade (Hole, Radiohead, Dresden Dolls, Pixies). According to Melanie, known as Mel to fans and friends alike, “Our fans have said that the energy of our live show hasn't translated onto our previous recordings. They are going to notice a different energy level on this record and it's because of how Paul and Sean worked with us."

Do you know what a click track is? It's like a metronome and is used in recording to keep things perfect. Some believe it can take away from the spontaneity of a recording artist. According to Mel, "On some tracks, Paul and Sean didn't use a click track on purpose. The result is a few of the songs vary in tempo to suit the mood and energy of the song." In other words the recording is real. Rich, the highly talented guitarist for Sirsy says, “It seems ridiculous to remove tempo changes. Listen to ‘The Cost Of You’. It speeds up at the end. That gives it the intensity there.”

So “power” and “real” are the key words to describe the new recording and Sirsy itself. As Aftertaste Magazine said regarding Mel, “Bursting and belting out emotion and substance, she can be the queen of ‘in the groove’ rocking or be simple and delicate.” And get this, she also plays a full drum kit while standing up (she’s been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine), handles bass (played on a keyboard with her drumstick), and even throws in an occasional flute solo. Rich Libutti plays everything else, including seething guitar; bass (on a keyboard at his feet); and he is the anchor to Melanie's on stage tornado. Just the two of them because, “We never found other musicians who understood”, according to Rich.

And they write. They write clever, smart songs that have more hooks than a tackle box. They both write the music. Mel takes care of the lyrics and they might set you back a few feet. They could even be called “dark” which is weird because when you talk with this duo the conversation is usually littered with laughs. But Mel says, "Calling the lyrics dark is appropriate, or maybe introspective says it better." She is a student of the English language and lyrics are a natural art to her. But she studies before the work begins. “I do love to listen to other artists to get inspired lyrically.” Like Coldplay, or a somewhat obscure Irish band called The Frames. And, at times when a "more down home feel is needed", Bruce Springsteen.

“I listened to a Jackson Browne tune 'Shape of A Heart'," Mel said, “and immediately wrote the words to our song, ‘Gold’.” “I didn't take anything directly from his song, but it set a mood for me." In "The Cost of You", there is a poetic line which says, "But I spent the cost of you". It calls to mind, the Joni Mitchell song, “Case Of You”. But Joni’s drinking a case of him and still standing on her feet. Mel’s had it up to here. She’s done.

Sirsy plays over 200 shows a year, bringing their indie rock sound to the masses and are about to expand nationally. “Coming Into Frame” will bring them beyond their east coast/mid-west comfort zone and into new territory including the south, and west coast. You will normally find them in the headline slot but they have also been special guests of such musical stalwarts as Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Maroon5, Train, RaRaRiot, Boys Like Girls, Third Eye Blind, Lifehouse, Blues Traveler, Cheap Trick, and many more.

Although the lyrics can be a little dark or introspective and the power of Sirsy can get pretty intense, “there is no sadness there”, Mel says. “On stage we radiate joy. It’s just us being free and playing music."

Location: Philadelphia, PA, USA

Rick Shaffer’s album, “Hidden Charms,” continues, expands, and nicely follows-up the feel of his first solo album, “Necessary Illusion,” released March of 2010.

Biography: Rick Shaffer is the founding member of the Philadelphia, PA band, The Reds™, whose first album on A&M, entitled "The Reds," is a combination of textures dense with electronic chaos brought to the edge of madness, then resolved into piercing clarity. The album, produced by David Kershenbaum, showed the band's impressive sound . . . a blend of Rick Shaffer's guitar and Bruce Cohen's keyboards into an interestingly textured drone, short guitar and keyboard figures, rising then disappearing back into the drone, while Shaffer's voice provides the punch and definition for their overall sound. The album was supported with live appearances with such diverse acts as The Police, Joe Jackson, Blondie, The Ramones, The Psychedelic Furs, and Public Image.

"The Reds" was followed by an A&M EP, featuring The Doors song, "Break On Through," which suggests some of the band's roots. After leaving A&M, The Reds went forward with two independent albums, "Stronger Silence" and "Fatal Slide" (Stony Plain/RCA), that continued The Reds™ sound, receiving critical acclaim internationally.

They next recorded a tense and powerful album for Sire/WB entitled, "Shake Appeal," produced by Mike Thorne (Blur, Soft Cell, Wire). This forcible record led the band to work with director/producer, Michael Mann. Mann incorporated numerous Reds songs into episodes of Miami Vice, and was so impressed with the impact of the songs he hired Shaffer and Cohen to write songs and score for two motion pictures, "Band Of The Hand" (Tri-Star) and "Manhunter" (De Laurentiis), based on the novel "Red Dragon." Soundtrack albums from both films were released on MCA, and a “Manhunter” CD (with an added Reds track, “Jogger’s Stakeout”), was released by Intrada Records, March 2010.

Some solo projects for Shaffer at this time included recording guitar tracks on a Marianne Faithfull album (Island); Hilly Kristal's, "Mad Mordechai" (Stereo Society); Peter Murphy's, "Holy Smoke" (Beggars Banquet/BMG); and Marc Almond's, "Fantastic Star" (Some Bizarre/Mercury). And, in 2004, Rick was recruited by director, Michael Mann, to write and record, "Looking For Right," for the film, "Collateral."

The Reds™ next album, "Cry Tomorrow" (Tarock) reunited them with British producer Mike Thorne. It captures the driving intensity of earlier albums and the ambient, atmospheric feel from their film scores, resulting in a stark, surreal album, with a sense of mood and mystery. The pulsing opening track, "Terror In My Heart," was featured in the film, "Nightmare On Elm Street 2" (New Line), directed by Jack Shoulder. Along with the bone crushing title track, "Cry Tomorrow," a searing non-stop groove of the Stones' "Gimme Shelter," the introduction of various percussive elements, and a diversity of background vocals, all create an experimental and manic energy that reaches inside your head and won't let go.

In 2007, the critically acclaimed album, "Fugitives From The Laughing House" (Tarock) was released. Written and produced by The Reds™, the ride starts with the street fighting "Wild" and "Little Cisco," through the hypnotic stroll of "Ringing The Bell" and "Dum Dum Dice," and does not let up until the end with the grinding Dub laced "Gunn's Suicide," and slow death burn of "Can't Bring You Back Again," which feels like a dying man's last breath. "Fugitives From The Laughing House" is a straight forward raw nerve reflection of life in America. In 2008, "Lethal Dose" (track #10) inspired British director, Peter McAdam, to shoot an independent film short, also entitled, Lethal Dose.

The Reds™ February 2009 release, "Early Nothing" (Tarock), was also written and produced by Shaffer and Cohen. The album has a hypnotic quality, that leaves the listener free to let their subconscious play itself out, no matter where it goes, while maintaining the simplicity of the moment. With the release of Early Nothing, The Reds™, shamans of dark, brooding, loud rock continue to explore and define their sound. This album inspired McAdam to create a film short of "So Long."

Rick Shaffer’s first solo album, “Necessary Illusion” (Tarock 2010) is a ten song neo-sixties, garage blues excursion, with a Joe Meek and Excello Records production style. The album’s sonic signature is a raw, swirl of distorted guitar, atmospheric percussion, stark droning hill country blues, in a mix of “Excello Records” style reverb.

Shaffer’s second solo venture, “Hidden Charms” (Tarock 2011), continues, expands, and nicely follows-up the feel of “Necessary Illusion.” The idea is to have the album sound new and old simultaneously, allowing it to find it’s place in a radio mix from 1965 and beyond. The sonic blueprint is a proto–garage rock/blues, distorted guitar, with melodies buried beneath a mash-up of unadulterated garage vibe. Inspired by Link Wray’s Swan Singles Collection, early Stones, and heavy doses of Mississippi Hill Country Blues Bop. The basic track sound is a simple, but steady primitive hypnotic beat and percussion, ultra distorted guitar, and aggressive raw vocals with intense personal lyric content.
And, in 2004, Rick was recruited by director, Michael Mann, to write and record, "Looking For Right," for the film, "Collateral." The Reds™ next album, "Cry Tomorrow" (Tarock) reunited them with British producer Mike Thorne. In 2008, "Lethal Dose" (track #10) inspired British director, Peter McAdam, to shoot an indep</itunes:summary>

ATTENTION MUSIC BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS, BANDS and ACCESSORY COMPANIES

The band was started by retro enthusiast and singer/songwriter Aidy as a way of combining indie rock with the aesthetics of vintage computing. Aidy, Paul and David have already played and toured together under the 'Aidy' name for over two years but 'the British IBM' was officially born on the 1st January 2012.

Before that Aidy was a solo artist releasing mulitple albums, and has built up a small but loyal online following with his quirky projects such as the release of a single sold only on 3.5" floppy and the 2010 Song A Week project. This involved the release of one new song every Friday for an entire year resulting in a 53 track album simply entitled 'Song A Week' available as a free download at www.Aidy.com

Cambridge, UK based indie rock band The British IBM are proving that you don’t need a record deal or a corporate sponsor to make things happen in this day and age. Their debut album and UK tour are being entirely funded by an inventive set of fan packages that gave early adopters the chance to pre-order their upcoming album whilst also getting their hands on a whole host of other exclusive merchandise. The money was raised and the album went ahead and is due for release in late July.

The band was officially formed towards the end of last year by singer/songwriter Aidy Killens and two other local musicians; Dave Martin (bass) and Paul Richards (drums). After several years of playing and touring together under various guises the three friends have now re-branded as The British IBM and are currently recording their debut album at Half-Ton Studios in Cambridge. For nearly a decade Aidy’s performed his solo material alone or with a revolving door band of musicians that came and went as the gigs required before meeting Dave and Paul, who decided to stick with him and the revolving door seemed to become a thing of the past.

The band’s name also has local origins; it was taken from a line spoken by Martin Freeman in the film, Micro Men. Another link is a BBC drama that charted the rise and fall of two Cambridge based IT companies Acorn and Sinclair, whom during the eighties were responsible for the Sinclair Spectrum and BBC Micro.
