Erica Kuhn, our beloved friend and founding Usdanite, passed away recently. Erica's indomitable spirit and high artistic standards helped her fellow founders to realize their dream of creating a haven for children whose passion is the arts.

Usdanites Unite

Six members of the Usdan Center family celebrated joyous events in March, when two Usdan weddings and the birth of a new Usdanite were celebrated as a result of student and faculty friendships established at Usdan.

2012 Teacher Education Workshops

This summer, Usdan will present two 2-day teacher education workshops. The first, I Can Do That Kids!, will be offered on July 17th and 18th. The program will be taught by Angelo Truglio, music educator and founder of the I Can Do That! program.

Usdan joins LI Arts Alliance for an October Arts Festival

Usdan Center has been a leader in the development of Long Island Arts Alliance, the 70-member coalition of not-for-profit arts organizations in our area. LIAA recently held a rally for East End arts leaders at the magnificent Weshampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

“FIRST CLASS", the inaugural exhibit of Usdan's Portfolio Preparation class launches

The opening “FIRST CLASS", the inaugural exhibit of Usdan's Portfolio Preparation class, launched with a reception at the Lobby Gallery of 430 Park Avenue (56th Street) in Manhattan. The exhibit will be on view in this gallery until March 7.

5th Fall Chess Challenge Draws 90 competitors

More than ninety students recently gathered at the Hexter Chess Center for Usdan's fifth annual Chess Challenge. Open to students in grades K-12, the tournament was U.S. Chess Federation-rated.

Angela & Scott Jaggar Provide 2012 Leadership Gift

Angela and Scott Jaggar will again provide Usdan opportunities for 2012 students from the Hempstead schools. These wonderful Usdan friends were introduced to the Center by Amy Hagedorn, a member of Usdan's Leadership Council.

Andrew Housholder Remembered

Andrew Housholder, a preeminent choral conductor and a mentor to a generation of Usdanites, has passed away following an extended illness. Andy was the conductor of Usdan's Senior Chorus during the early years of the Center.
