Here's a step by step process on how to be able to have a video chat with your on-line friends...

Requirements:

Windows XP/Win7/Mac

Internet Browsers :Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/Safari

Let's begin..

1. Assuming that you have logged in Facebook, type “video chat rounds” in the search box as shown in the picture above.

2. The Video Chat Rounds application requires your permission. Click 'allow'.

3. Choose ‘Allow’ on the Adobe Flash Player Setting popup window.

Tick ‘remember’ if you do not wish to be asked about the setting again in the future.

4. Enter the name of your friend that you wish to call.

Note that only friends that have installed the Video Chat Rounds application

will be available once they are on-line. Click on your friend’s avatar to call him or her.

5. The application is waiting for your friend to accept your call request.

6. Congratulations! Your video call is in commence.

Functional and useful, Evernote goes beyond its architecture and is also interesting. It's a true three-platform play: it works very well, and somewhat differently, on desktop computers, mobile phones, and over the Web. Evernote is a good note-taking application. If you have the Evernote application running on your camera phone, it will automatically upload your snapshots to the Evernote server, creating a useful archive of them. But the killer feature is that it also does OCR on your images so you can find them later by searching for text in them. Use this tool to snap pictures of products you see in stores and want to remember, to grab whiteboards in meetings, and to take pictures of people with name tags at conferences. It's one of those utilities that might just change your life.

Everything you do on your phone and on your computer gets synchronized to your Evernote account on the Web. Since it synchronizes as soon as you log on, and regularly thereafter, reinstalling the software or losing data because of a crash are nonfatal problems. Do note that the Web-based text editor isn't keystroke compatible with the PC-based editor. It makes switching between the two experiences confusing. The free version offers 40MB per month for uploading which is enough for casual users like us.

Why would you might want to use dropbox.

Teachers nowadays use their pc or laptop to do their work mostly that involves worksheets, spreadsheets, powerpoint presentation and the list goes on.

As for me, when I am mobile I would surely rely on my laptop for my work/assignments. When I am in the office I would instead do my work/assignments on the computer as I find it more comfortable (bigger screen and a full size keyboard). Now, normally I rarely do my work/assignments at home but sometimes I am required to. If that happens I would turn to my personal computer (a 24inch screen and much much better keyboard not to mention performance boost).

If you noticed, I have mentioned three different distinct places where I do my work/assignments.

Mobile (anywhere work takes me),
Office and
Home.

Dropbox allows me to work on my files on any computer with internet access where dropbox is installed. This means I am no longer tied to a particular computer when doing my work. Not only that, I can share my files with my friends and vice-versa. Those who are involved in group work can greatly benefit from Dropbox as it allows you to work on the same file(s) at the same time even though you and your colleagues are kilometers apart.

File Sharing

Sharing files is simple. It takes only a few clicks.

Shared folders allow several people to collaborate on the same files. (only when permission given so it is secure)
See other people's changes instantly.
Use your "Public" folder to link directly to files.
Control who has access to your shared folders. Kick people out and remove the shared files from their computers in the process.
Automatically create shareable online photo galleries out of regular folders.

Those who read my blogs and posts are probably those who are related to the education field. As a humble beginner, I welcome all of you to my blog. This blog exists initially because as an assignment in my post graduate course. I dabbled on a few topics which I feel would be useful for me and beneficial to those who read my posts. Progress has been slow because I couldn't really connect to my previous post attempts. It took me three whole weeks (and a friendly reminder from my lecturer :-)) to actually come up with a blog which is close to my heart.

So here it is, my blog about anything I feel that is useful and beneficial for people like us (I mean educators alike). I believe IT and technology have played a tremendous part in making life easier, quicker and more efficient. Through my course of work I have stumbled upon, introduced to or discovered tools, websites, gadgets etc which made me more productive.

Some of you might have come across some of them but allow me to share them anyways. Perhaps some of you would find them useful. Most of them are available on the world wide web at no cost at all.
