			<title>SUB SPACE CHATTER: January 2012</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/UssChallenger/~3/08bU3-VvR7Y/index.php</link>
<description>SUB SPACE CHATTER: First Bulletin of the New Year Happy 2012: The Year We May Face Doomsday according to those Mayans!
By Adm. Bob VossellerVice Regional Coordinator
Hard to believe we are heading into the last week of the first month of the new year. We bid goodbye to 2011 which was an extremely busy and productive year for the 7th Fleet and this year promises to hold a lot of adventures and activities as well.
NEW FUTURE SHIP IN R7We bid a big hello to the USS Robert E. Lee (blare out that horn from the General Lee of Dukes of Hazzard fame) which launched earlier this month under the command of Larry Neigut whose current assignment was XO of the USS Storm.
This has caused some changes in the staff of the Storm but as several members of that Atlantic City NJ based chapter are moving to Florida, the Storm felt that it would be a great idea to form a correy chapter and retain these members and Larry wants to step up to the center seat again but have a reduced role within a meeting chapter.
This works for Larry's schedule and will help keep Storm's NJ departing members intact and we wish them well with this new venture which already has a chapter seal and a FB page.&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/UssChallenger/~4/08bU3-VvR7Y" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>

<description>Thanks go out to all those who attended the USS Challenger's 9th annual Cookie Swap/Holiday Party last Sunday at our club headquarters of the Seaside Heights Community Center. We had a nice turnout, a wonderful variety of delicious cookies, some great hot beverages and plenty of laughs.A dollar store holiday gift exchanged in particular provided some holiday cheer and some snickers when the presents were opened. Thanks also goes out to USS Avenger Chief Engineer Matt Reilly who surprised the USS Challenger with a gift of a Galaxy Class model detailed to a great degree with our name and hull number. Thanks again Matt. Great job and very generous of you.Donations of toys and food will also help those in need and we appreciate those who provided them for our collection during the party.I hope everyone out there is enjoying the holiday season. Whatever you are celebrating, enjoy this special time of the year to the fullest.

I thank Mark Anbinder for providing some additional photos that he took.I also send out big congrats to the many members of R7 who received promotions and/or awards this weekend. Boy does this region have a lot of brass now.
