JNUEE, CEEB admit card 2019: The admit card will be available to download from the official website on May 14, 2019. The students can download the admit card through the official websites

JNUEE, CEEB admit card 2019: The National Testing Agency is scheduled to release the admit card for online entrance test (JNUEE) and Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination (CEEB) on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. The candidates who will appear in the examination can download the admit card through the official website- ntajnu.nic.in.

“The candidates are hereby informed that the downloading of Admit Card of JNUEE and CEEB – 2019 will take place from 14th May 2019. This has been done on account of extension of the last date of the online submission of Application Form of JNUEE and CEEB 2019 from 15th April 2019 to 18 th April 2019 and payment of fee upto April 19, 2019,” read the official notification.

NTA NEET dress code for male & female candidates– what to wear and what not to wear for exam tomorrow

NTA NEET 2019 will be conducted on May 5, 2019. The examination will be conducted for admission to all seats of MBBS/BDS by National Testing Agency. NTA has already set dress code for NEET 2019 examination which is to be followed by male and female candidates appearing for the exam.

Here are the list of what to wear and what not to wear in NTA NEET 2019 exam. Check the dress code guidelines available.

Candidates who will appear for the exam can come in cultural/customary dress at the Exam center.
Light clothes with half sleeves, long sleeves for male and female candidates are not allowed.
For women candidates, slippers, sandals with low heels are permitted.
Shoes are not permitted for male candidates, so try wearing slippers or sandals.

Candidates are requested to report at least an hour before the last reporting time so that there is enough time available for proper frisking without causing any inconvenience to the candidate while maintaining the sanctity of the examination.

The NEET 2019 duration is three hours- 2 pm to 5 pm and will have 180 objective type questions. The questions will be asked from subjects- physics, chemistry, biology (botany & zoology). The total marks for NEET 2019 are 720. Candidates can opt for question paper in any one language from 11 languages they offer. I-T Raids Carried Out in Former Jammu and Kashmir Minister's Properties in Srinagar

Srinagar: Income Tax (I-T) officials on Thursday carried out raids in Srinagar city at the properties of former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Imran Raza Ansari, sources here said.

The I-T officials carried out raids at North Point Towers, a commercial complex in Karan Nagar area. The complex belonging to Shia leader Ansari houses several commercial offices.
Similar raids were also carried out in Alamgari Bazaar area in the old city area at another property owned by Ansari, the sources added.

There has, however, been no official word so far from the I-T Department as to what led to to the raids in Srinagar or whether any incriminating evidence was recovered.

JEE Main April 2019: Cut-off to go high, experts’ suggest.

JEE Main 2019: Day three of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main examination was concluded on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. The physics paper was tough while chemistry remains easier for students. The experts, after analysing the difficulty level of the paper, predicted that the cut-off of this year can be slightly higher than that of the last year.

“The JEE Main 2019 cut-off is expected to be between 75-85. This is slightly higher than last year’s cut off, which was at 74 for the General category,” said Rajshekhar Ratrey, VP, educational content, Toppr.com. However, Navin C Joshi, Academic Head and VP, Gradeup said that the cut-off will range between 80-85 marks.

The final cut-off will be declared taken into consideration the student’s performance in the best of the two sessions. The cut-off for students in JEE Main 2019 to qualify for JEE Advanced 2019 will be released after the April session.

The answer keys for JEE Main are expected to release next week while the result too (going by the January exam), might release by the end of this month. A total of 9,29,198 students registered for the JEE Main in January against 9,35,741 appearing for the same in April session.

F-16 didn’t down India’s MiG-21 Bison, claims top Chinese military expert

Professor Jin Yinan from the elite National Defence University (NDU) of the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) hints - without actually saying so - that it could have been a China-built jet, possibly the jointly built JF-17 fighter aircraft, which shot down India’s jet.

A top expert with the Chinese defence forces has claimed it wasn’t Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) US-made F-16 that shot down India’s MiG-21 Bison during last month’s dogfight when the two air forces had scrambled jets along the Line of Control (LoC).

Professor Jin Yinan from the National Defence University (NDU) of the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) hints - without actually saying so - that it could have been a China-built jet, possibly the jointly built JF-17 fighter aircraft, which shot down India’s jet.

Jin also argued that it wasn’t a surface-to-air missile that hit the MiG-21 Bison but an air-to-air projectile.

Jin’s interview was first published earlier this month on a Chinese website run by the PLA where he attempted to counter the narrative that it was an F-16, which shot down the Indian aircraft.

Jin, a retired general and an author, was a director of the strategic research institute at the NDU.

“Expert: Who shot down India’s MiG-21 in India-Pakistan air battle?” was the headline of the English version of the interview.

The Chinese expert’s reasoning comes against the backdrop of Beijing’s announcement that it had, along with Islamabad, started upgrading the JF-17 fighter jet. “The development and production of the JF-17 Block 3 are underway,” Yang Wei, a Chinese legislator and chief designer of the China-Pakistan co-developed fighter jet, was quoted as saying by the state media.

He said: “The Indian side tried to find reasons for its loss, saying that Pakistan had dispatched its most advanced F-16 fighters, which was denied. Pakistan’s saying is more reliable for three reasons”.

“First, the sales of F-16 fighters had been cut off by the US, so Pakistan now has only less than 20 such aircraft left, not to mention how many of which could still perform a flight mission,” Jin said.

“Second, Pakistan had signed an ‘agreement’ with the US, which banned the use of F-16 fighters in offensive operations. This time, Indian warplanes flew into the Pakistani airspace and attacked ground targets first, and then Pakistan sent aircraft into India’s airspace for retaliation. From this perspective, it was a retaliatory, offensive operation conducted by Pakistan, in which the F-16 was inapplicable according to the aforesaid agreement.”

in then argued that the Indian Air Force is well aware of the capabilities of the US-made jets including firepower and radar frequencies.

“Third, the Indian military had already obtained basic data about the F-16 jets. The U.S. planned to export the F-21 - an upgraded version of the F-16 - to India, so it had informed the Indian side of all performance parameters about the aircraft. For this reason, India is familiar with the combating performances of the F-16, including its fire-control and searching radar frequency,” the PLA expert said.

“Given all this, Pakistan was unlikely to use its F-16 fighters in the air battle because there was a small chance to win even if it sent out the aircraft.”

Asked what kind of missile would have hit the Indian jet, Jin claimed it was an air-to-air missile.

“All existing signs indicate that it is improbable a surface-to-air missile. The wreckage of the MiG-21 fighter jet should be comminuted debris caused by the cellular explosion. However, it is evident that part of the crashed MiG-21 fighter jet was cut by a missile, instead of exploding in the air. It was directly hit by a missile warhead. In this case, it is unlikely to be a surface-to-air missile, but probably an air-to-air missile,” he said.

Jin said IAF’s frontier jets are in poor shape and flying “outdated” aircraft.

“The aircraft equipped in India’s frontier troops are poor in performance. For instance, the MiG-21 fighter is already outdated. The captured Indian pilot is a senior wing commander. Among air force pilots, wing commander is already a high military ranking, who needs to fly at least 1,000 hours, so he is actually an experienced pilot. However, limited by its backward avionics, the MiG-21 fighter’s search radar could not detect the enemy and its fire-control radar cannot guide medium-range air-to-air missiles,” Jin said.

The Chinese expert added: “So, it could not perform preemptive detection and firing. As a result, it was detected and shot down first by the enemy. If the Indian military commissioned some more advanced fighters in the frontier, it would not only enhance its image but also not lose so badly. This is a feature of air warfare: a single pilot and a single aircraft can determine the result of an air battle.

Police: Multiple deaths after shootings at 2 New Zealand mosques

Three men and one woman are in custody following shootings at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch. Police say multiple people are dead.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told reporters the shootings were "an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence," calling it "one of New Zealand's darkest days."

A man who claimed responsibility for the shootings left a 74-page anti-immigrant manifesto in which he explained who he was and his reasoning for his actions. He said he considered it a terrorist attack.

New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said authorities disabled several improvised explosive devices found on vehicles. "We're not assuming this is contained," he said of the situation. "Let's not presume the danger is gone."

There is no official word yet of how many were killed or wounded in the shootings at the mosques, where people had gathered for Friday prayers. Bush called the deaths "significant."

In Christchurch, witness Len Peneha said he saw a man dressed in black enter the Masjid Al Noor mosque and then heard dozens of shots, followed by people running from the mosque in terror.

Peneha, who has lived next door to the mosque for about five years, said the gunman ran out of the mosque, dropped what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon in Peneha's driveway, and fled before emergency services arrived.

Peneha said he then went into the mosque to try and help.

"I saw dead people everywhere. There were three in the hallway, at the door leading into the mosque, and people inside the mosque," he said. "It's unbelievable nutty. I don't understand how anyone could do this to these people, to anyone. It's ridiculous."

The New Zealand Herald reported there was a second shooting at the Linwood Masjid Mosque.

Mark Nichols told the Herald he heard about five gunshots and that a Friday prayer goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun.

Nichols said he saw two injured people being carried out on stretchers past his automotive shop and that both people appeared to be alive.

China again blocks bid at UN to list JeM chief Masood Azhar as global terrorist

China for the fourth time blocked a bid in the United Nations (UN) Security Council to designate Pakistan-based millitant group Jaish-e-Mohammed's chief Masood Azhar as a "global terrorist" by putting a technical hold on the proposal on Wednesday, a move India termed as disappointing.

The proposal to designate Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council was moved by France, the UK and the US on February 27, days after a suicide bomber of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) killed 40 CRPF soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, leading to a flare-up in tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee members had 10 working days to raise any objections to the proposal. The no-objection period deadline was scheduled to end at 3.00 pm local time (New York) Wednesday, (12.30 am IST Thursday).

3-Year-Old Girl In Gujarat Raped By Neighbour, Say Police

Ahmedabad:

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour in Morbi town of Gujarat, a police official said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday when the girl went to the house of the accused, Ramesh Koli, in Indira Nagar locality of Morbi town, located around 200 km from Ahmedabad, to play with his children, he said.

"The man was alone when the girl went to his house. He allegedly raped her. When her parents noticed blood on her clothes upon her return, they visited Koli's house and found blood there also," police officer AB Jadeja said.

The girl's parents later lodged an case against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections for rape and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police officer said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, he said, adding efforts were on to arrest the accused.

Hours after 12 Indian Air Force Mirage-2000 jets crossed the Line of Control (LoC) early on Tuesday morning .DG (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor told the press in Islamabad that they would definitely respond and surprise India.

“Wait for the surprise. The response will come. It is your turn now. Get ready to be surprised. The response will come differently,” said Ghafoor

. Ghafoor further highlighted that the response would come at a time and point of Pakistan’s choosing, which would be decided by the military and civil leadership.

“As a matter of fact it has already been decided,” he said.

The major general also said his military would retain the escalation ladder.

Ghafoor also confirmed that Indian jets crossed the LoC and ventured into Pakistan. The DG ISPR said the IAF tried to get inside Pakistan through three separate routes and was engaged by the Pakistani forces on all three.

Ghafoor claimed an Indian formation was detected moving towards the Lahore-Sialkot sector border which were engaged.

“Another formation was spotted approaching the Bahawalpur border, they were also engaged. Then a much bigger formation was spotted flying from Kiran valley towards Muzaffarabad sector,” he added.

Confirming India’s claim of crossing the LoC, he said, “They came 4-5 nautical miles inside the LoC. On retreat they dropped their payloads and exited, the payloads fell on Jaba due to the angle of exit.”

CBSE to announce Class 10, 12 results early this year

CBSE Board Class 10, 12 exams 2019: After having preponed the exam dates from March to February, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be releasing the results of class 10 and 12 earlier than the previous years. In a list of instructions released today, the board has mentioned that they aim to bring out board results one week earlier than previous years.

Every year, the CBSE conducts the exam for both class 10 and class 12 from March. However, from 2019 onwards, the exams will be held in February. The result is usually released in the third or fourth week of May.

CBSE exams from February 15

The exams for class 10 will begin from February 21 and class 12 from February 15. The has also issued important instructions for the candidates appearing in the exams.

This year, 31,14,831 candidates have registered for the exam of which 1819077 are boys and 1295754 are girls. This year, 28 transgender students have applied for the CBSE exams.

From class 12, a total of 12,87,369 students will sit for the exams while from class 10, it is 18,27,472 candidates have applied. This includes 22 transgender students from class 10 while six students from class 12.The CBSE has also issued guidelines informing students that they need to wear their school uniforms during the exams. Candidates will also not be allowed to wear casual clothes for security purpose and old question papers are not allowed in the exam centre.

Kashmir witnesses first snowfall of 2019, Jammu-Srinagar highway closed

Kashmir received its first snowfall on FRIDAY, JANUARY, 2019 breaking a month-long dry spell in the Valley, the meteorological (MeT) department said.

The 294-kilometre Jammu-Srinagar national highway and the Mughal Road, which connects Jammu’s Poonch and Rajouri districts with south Kashmir’s Shopian, have been closed for vehicular traffic after the fresh snowfall, officials said.

Officials said Banihal and Ramban districts started receiving rain since early hours while more than six inches of snow had accumulated on both sides of Jawahar Tunnel-key link between Jammu and Srinagar regions, resulting in foggy and slippery road conditions.

“There was snowfall at every places in Kashmir, particularly in Gulmarg and Pahalgam tourist resorts, traces of snowfall was also witnessed in Srinagar early in the morning” an official said.

Indonesia tsunami kills at least 62 as casualties continue to climb

At least 62 deaths have been reported in Indonesia on Sunday after a tsunami struck the Sunda Strait overnight, with 584 injured and 20 missing, according to Indonesian government officials who expect casualty figures to continue to mount.

The cause for the tsunami remains unclear. The waves apparently struck without warning or earthquake tremors. Indonesian officials have denied that the cause for the tsunami was triggered by the nearby Krakatoa volcano, which has been erupting since June. There was speculation that the events were linked.

“Data collection is still ongoing. It’s likely that the number of victims and damages will rise,” said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for Indonesia’s national disaster agency, in a statement.

Over 400 buildings have been destroyed as waves slammed into the Sunda Strait, which separates Indonesia’s two largest islands, Java and Sumatra.

Beaches in the strait were reported heavily hit in places such as the Pandeglang regency, where 33 were reportedly killed, or several beaches like Anyer or the Tanjung Lesung.

Oystein Lund Andersen, a Norwegian witness who was on a family trip on the coast of the Anyer beach, wrote on Facebook that he was on a family trip when he saw the incoming wave. “Next wave entered the hotel area where I was staying and downed cars on the road behind it. Managed to evacuate with my family to higher ground through forest paths and villages, where we are taken care of by the locals. Were unharmed, thankfully,” he wrote.

Government officials are warning tourists against visiting the beaches near the Sunda Strait. “The national disaster agency and the geology agency are still investigating [the tsunami],” Nugroho said. Nugroho also added that heavy equipment and emergency soup kitchens have been prepared.

Indonesia’s volcanology and geology disaster mitigation center said there was an eruption of the Krakatoa on Saturday night. Although there was a “300 to 1500 meter” ash cloud reported above the crater’s peak, the center said, it was unclear whether the tsunami was directly caused by the eruption.

Igan Sutawijaya, a volcano and geological disaster expert, said the Sunda Strait is a disaster-prone area but the waves may not be directly linked to an eruption.

“My suspicion is that there was an landslide under the sea. Perhaps a trench crumbled,” he told The Washington Post in a phone interview. “It doesn’t make sense that it was caused by the eruption of the Krakatoa.”

Indonesia sits on the seismically active “ring of fire” in the Pacific Ocean.

The Child of Krakatoa, an island that emerged in the 1920s after the 1883 volcanic eruptions of the Krakatoa, hosts one of Indonesia’s most active eruption sites.

Naveed Jatt killed in Budgam encounter today; J&K DGP says will tell Pakistan to take LeT millitant body

Srinagar: Hours after Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) millitant Naveed Jatt was killed in an encounter in Budgam district on Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir DGP (Director General of Police) Dilbagh Singh said that they will write to the Union Home Ministry to inform Pakistan of their national Naveed Jatt's death in the encounter and also that they (Pakistan) must take his body back.

Jatt was a Pakistani national and wanted in connection with the assassination of Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari. He had escaped from police custody in February.

"We'll be writing to the Ministry of Home Affairs to informing Pakistan to take the body," Singh told news agency PTI. He also confirmed that Jatt was killed in an encounter in central Kashmir's Budgam district this morning.

Singh added that Jatt had managed to evade them in six different encounters but the forces finally managed to eliminate him today.

Day After Shocking Execution, Another Kashmiri Teen Killed By Millitants

A 19-year-old's body was found with the throat slit in Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday, barely 36 hours after.

Huzaif Kuttay, a baker from nearby Kulgam district, was among five people abducted by millitants from various villages across the district earlier today. Police said that while two others were freed after questioning, the rest remain missing.

Mr Kuttay's body was recovered from an orchard in Hermain village. "Millitants killed the civilian after he was kidnapped earlier in the day from Saidpora area," a police officer said.

The incident comes close on the heels of terrorists summarily executing a 17-year-old boy from Safanagri village on suspicion of being an informer for security forces on Thursday night. A video of the incident went viral on the social media yesterday, drawing strong condemnation from citizens and political parties alike.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned Mr Kuttay's murder on Twitter soon after his body was found. "Another dastardly killing of a young man, and this time millitants slit his throat.
The clip from the previous incident shows the boy, a Class 11 student, sitting on the ground with his hands presumably tied up. One of the millitant is heard asking why he had gotten one of their colleagues killed. However, multiple shots ring out before the youngster can even answer, and he slumps to the ground motionless.

Beware, there are dangerous apps hiding on Google Play Store. Despite the best efforts of Google, malicious apps do make their way to Google Play Store. Recently security company ESET, listed several malicious apps on the official Android store. Several of these disguised as mobile banking Trojans.

According to Lukas Stefanko of ESET, unlike the increasingly prevalent malicious apps relying purely on impersonating legitimate financial institutions and displaying bogus login screens, these apps belong to the category of sophisticated mobile banking malware with complex functionality. Earlier this year too, researchers from security firms like Symantec and Check Point warned about hidden app malware on Google Play Store. Many of these masquerading as device boosters and cleaners, battery managers and even horoscope-themed apps.

. There are also others that claim to be games, education or cryptocurrency apps. Some of these apps forcefully redirects victims to install another malicious app on the Play Store once they are launched.

As we just enter into the eleventh month of the year 2018, here’s a look at the list of unsafe Android apps that researchers have found on Google Play Store this year. These apps pose a risk to Android smartphone users and need to be uninstalled:

Jammu and Kashmir: Governor cancels group mediclaim policy contract with Reliance citing fraud.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has cancelled the group mediclaim policy for state government employees and pensioners with Anil Ambani’s Reliance General Insurance Limited. In an interview with Zee News channel on Wednesday, Malik said he has ordered the cancellation of the scheme which “turned out to be full of frauds” after an investigation.

Malik said the official cancellation order will be out in the next few days. “I studied it myself. The issue is that the government had not issued any tenders,” Malik said, according to Greater Kashmir. “A private company had asked for tenders on behalf of another company. Those bids were not displayed anywhere on our [government’s] website. The tenders were changed to suit a particular company.”

A month after Malik was sworn in as Jammu and Kashmir’s governor in August, he had approved an order to implement the Chief Minister’s Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy from October 1. The policy had been tied up with Reliance General Health Insurance Company Limited on an annual premium of Rs 8,777 and Rs 22,229 (for employees and pensioners respectively). Around 3.5 lakh government employees were to benefit from the policy.

“We are happy about the decision taken by the governor,” The Printquoted Abdul Qayoom Wani, president of Employees’ Joint Action Committee, as saying. “It was not an open tender. All the stakeholders have been highly suspicious about how suddenly it was allotted to RGIC.”

The state has been under Governor’s Rule since June 20 after the Bharatiya Janata Party pulled out of the ruling alliance led by former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Earlier this month, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had criticised the Narendra Modi government for buying health insurance for the employees of the Jammu and Kashmir government from Reliance General Insurance. In response, the insurance firm said it has won the contract after a “rigorous and transparent competitive tender process”.

T20: Pakistan beat Australia by 66 runs

ABU DHABI: Pakistan beat Australia by 66 runs in the first Twenty20 match at Abu Dhabi Cricket Ground in UAE on Wednesday.

Chasing 156 to win, Australia were all out for 89 handing Pakistan a big victory.

Pakistan lead the 3-match series 1-0.

Sarfraz led Pakistan to a tri-series triumph by beating Australia in the final at Harare in July this year and needs to win at least one match to remain at the top of the rankings.

Pakistan will be without senior batsman Shoaib Malik who was with his tennis star wife Sania Mirza in India for the birth of their first child.

"Malik will join the team on Wednesday but will not be part of the eleven, so we are ready for Australia who are a very strong Twenty20 side," said Sarfraz.

Australia, who beat Pakistan in the group match of the tri-series, need to win 3-0 if they want to jump from their current third position to the top.

Since Sarfraz took over captaincy, Pakistan have won 23 of the

27 matches they have played -- a momentum the skipper wants to maintain.

Over 50 people are feared dead in a train accident which happened near Amritsar on Friday. The incident took place at Joda Fatak where Dusshera celebrations were underway. The accident occurred at a level crossing gate which was closed, Railways has said.

Over a thousand people had gathered in the area to witness the burning of Ravana effigies, reports suggest that people started running on the sound of crackers and failed to hear the incoming train whistle. Rescue operations have been launched and efforts are underway to save people from the debris. The accident happened at gate no. 27 between Amritsar and Manawala. As Dussehra celebration were underway people started rushing towards closed gate number 27 while a DMU train number 74943 was passing through, CPRO Northern Railway was quoted as saying by ANI.

Abu Dhabi: Shoaib Malik scored an unbeaten 51 under pressure as Pakistan survived a scare, winning their Asia Cup Super Four match against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi by three wickets.

Chasing a competitive 258 to win, Pakistan overhauled the target with just three balls to spare with former captain Malik playing the match-winning knock in 43 balls.

Pakistan required 10 runs from the last over and Malik dispatched pacer Aftab Alam for a six and four after playing a dot ball.

Wickets kept falling for Pakistan with star Afghan spinner Rashid Khan yet again proving his worth with a three wicket haul, but Malik held his nerves to keep one end tight.

Before Malik, Imam-ul-Haq (80) and Babar Azam (60) hit patient half-centuries in a 154-run stand but the slow run rate made it difficult for Pakistan.

Electing to bat, Hashmatullah Shahidi (97) missed out on his maiden ODI hundred by just three runs after skipper Asghar Afghan hit a combative 67 off 56 balls as Afghanistan scored a fighting 257 for six.

Their 94-run partnership and some terrific batting towards the end by the Afghans made it an interesting contest as they scored 87 runs in the last 10 overs.

Pakistan made a shaky start, losing opener Fakhar Zaman in the sixth ball of the innings, bowled by Mujeeb ur Rahman, but after that Azam and Imam took control of the proceedings, though the run-rate was always shooting up.

At the half-way mark, Pakistan had put on board just 103 for one with the required rate going beyond six, but they had the cushion of nine wickets.

The two batsmen put on 154 runs for the second wicket before Imam was run out in the 34th over. It was Najibullah Zadran's direct hit which found Imam short. His 80-run knock came off 104 balls with four shots to the fence and one over the ropes.

Nine balls later, Rashid Khan had Azam stumped. At this point, Pakistan needed exactly 100 runs from 15 overs.

Pakistan lost Haris Sohail (13), Sarfraz Ahmad (8), Asif Ali (7) and Mohammad Nawaz (10) with the Afghan bowlers fighting hard.

In the end, former captain Malik's experience saw them cross the finish the line.

Earlier, Shahidi needed a boundary off the last ball to complete his century but Hasan Ali denied him the milestone with a incoming yorker which the left-hander could not put away.

With his skipper Asghar, Shahidi shared a match-changing 94-run stand for the fourth wicket.

Shahidi shifted gears with ease after largely remaining patient in his unbeaten and career-best knock, which came off 118 balls. Five of his seven boundaries came during the last 14 balls of the Afghan innings.

Asghar had joined left-handed Shahidi at the crease after left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz (3/57) removed the top three Afghan batsmen - Mohammad Shahzad (20), Ihsanullah (10) and Rahmat Shah (36).

In his 67-run knock, Asghar showed both aggression and patience and Shahidi was determined, holding one end tight.

Asghar chose right deliveries to go for big shots, hitting five sixes and two fours.

Shahidi and Asghar were tested by the Pakistan pace duo of Hasan Ali and Usman Khan but they refused to be intimidated by the raw pace.

With the breakthrough not coming, Pakistan captain Sarfraz handed the ball back to Nawaz but Asghar hit 11 runs off his over which included a four and six, to end the long boundary drought.

Both the batsmen completed their half-centuries in the 40th over, bowled by young left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi.

With few overs left, Asghar started hitting each everything thrown at him and was bowled by Afridi after being dropped by Haris Sohail in the 42nd over.

Former cricketers Younis Khan and Aamer Sohail feel that Pakistan are more than capable of beating India when the two teams clash against each other in the Asia Cup 2018.

Both Pakistan and India are scheduled to play against Hong Kong in their respective opening clashes before the blockbuster clash on September 19 (Wednesday) at the Dubai International Stadium.

Younis feels that Pakistan have some very good players in their ranks and they will help them in beating arch-rivals India in the first meeting between the two sides after the Champions Trophy 2017 final, which Pakistan won by a massive margin of 180 runs.

“I am optimistic that Pakistan will beat India in the Asia Cup as they will go into the tournament with a positive mindset and have some very good players,” Younis told reporters in Quetta.

Meanwhile, Aamer Sohail feels that familiarity with the conditions will give Pakistan an edge over their Asian rivals.

“India and Sri Lanka are tough teams and good competition is expected from them but Pakistan will definitely have an upper hand against all teams as they have played in the UAE more than any other team,” Sohail was quoted as saying by a leading Pakistan news portal.

Woman thrashed, stripped, paraded semi-naked in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar over suspicion of theft.

An elderly woman was beaten up, stripped and paraded semi-naked by a mob in north-west Delhi's Swaroop Nagar area on Thursday over a suspicion of theft.

According to reports, a few people caught hold of the woman accusing her of theft and started thrashing her. The irate mob then tore her clothes and paraded the injured woman across the Swaroop Nagar marketplace.

The mob alleged that the woman had stolen gold chains from two women in the area after hypnotising them.

The local police intervened took the injured woman to a hospital.

The incident was captured by locals on their mobile phone in which visuals show the lady bleeding while other women pulling her hair. She was later handed over to the local police.
