As we already know, Android is available virtually on many smartphones and we even witness this wonderful open source operating system to run stably on unsupported smartphones like on the iPhone. With the large participation of many developers, we can see many new Android developments. Speaking of the HTC HD2 we have an exciting news that is coming very soon.

It is learned that developers over at XDA Forums are working hard to bring Android into the HTC HD2 smartphone. We knew previously, a Windows-Mobile-based smartphone, the Touch Pro 2, has been successfully running the Android OS and now the same thing is attempted on HTC HD2. Series of experiments and testings are being carried out by XDA developers to see how things work. There is positive development on this attempt; recently they are able to use Linux Boot Loader to run a 720p video.

How to Install Custom Keyboards in Android

Sprint’s HTC Evo – the First Ever 4G Phone

Sprint's HTC Evo smartphone is finally here after several months of rumors. The HTC Evo 4G or originally codenamed "Supersonic" sports a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with multitouch. It runs HTC's updated Sense user interface over Android 2.1 mobile OS.

With such an enormous display, wide array of video codecs support and HDMI output, these facts make the Sprint's HTC Evo ideal for watching video.

The Evo 4G also comes with an 8 megapixels camera with HD video capture and its brain is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which also can be found on the HTC Nexus One. The phone's also got 1GB of built-in storage, along with 512MB of RAM.

All of that, of course, comes without even mentioning the Evo's WiMax/4G capabilities. While the phone still makes calls over CDMA, WiMax kicks in for data. The blazing fast download speeds you get on WiMax currently aren't that widely available, but Sprint plans to cover 120 million people by the end of the year. Since the Evo won't be available until this summer at the earliest, Sprint's got time to build up the network enough to make their crown jewel actually fill out its potential. The little downloading that I was able to see was clearly a cut above. And don't forget: it can act as a Hotspot for up to eight devices. For a phone? That's not just unprecedented. That's almost unbelievable.

So what do we have with the HTC Evo 4G? The best hardware. The best Android OS with the best custom UI. The best camera. The fastest download speeds. Bigger, better, faster, more.

Redsn0w 0.9.5 – How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 4.0 OS on Mac OS X

iPhone Dev team has proved once again that they are always one step ahead of Apple. As we know, many Apple fans were disappointed with the absence of jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3 Baseband 0.5.12.07 but knowing that Apple is on its way to release iPhone 4.0 OS, the best thing for iPhone Dev Team to do is to save exploits they have up sleeves for future jailbreak.

Recently iPhone dev team comes up with its first public iPhone 3G OS 4.0 Beta 1 jailbreak tool (or also known as Redsn0w 0.9.5). Anyway, below is the step-by-step guide to jailbreak iPhone 3G 4.0 with Redsn0w 0.9.5 (please note, this is only for Mac OS X).

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 4.0 with Redsn0w 0.9.5 on Mac OS X?

1. For iPhone developer, you can simply head over to Apple site and download iPhone OS 4.0 firmware. Alternatively you can have a leaked version of iPhone OS 4.0 firmware (iPhone1,2_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw) for iPhone 3G.

2. Download iPhone OS 4.0 & install it on your iPhone 3G

3. Download Redsn0w 0.9.5. Please check this link for latest redsnow version because the redsnow will be updated from time to time.

4. Fire up Redsn0w 0.9.5 and select your stock iPhone1,2_4.0_8A230m_Restore.ipsw file (you’ve already used this to update your iPhone3G to 4.0beta1)

5. Select "Install Cydia" and click "Next". Use DFU mode to install the jailbreak.

6. When your iPhone3G comes back up, you’ll notice Cydia has a blank white icon. You’ll also notice Cydia has no sources. Go to the Sources panel and add this repo: http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7 (be sure you have a carrier or wifi signal first!).

When Cydia restarts, you should see its real logo now, and the standard sources should be ready to use.

Google Nexus One Phone Review

The Nexus One is probably an overhyped Android smartphone but that doesn't stop it from being the best Android phone. What make it so special I hear you ask? It's because its hardware & software. This unlocked device is sold for $530 or much less with a T-Mobile contract for $180.

Specs

The Nexus One is built for Google by HTC. It has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 32GB-capable microSD slot, 512MB RAM, a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display at 800x480, dual microphones for noise canceling, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720x480 video capture @ 20FPS and a trackball. No slide out keyboard - everything's done with the onscreen virtual keyboard.

The AMOLED screen is gorgeous, and makes the iPhone 3GS look washed out. It's that good. And it has a better resolution as compared to iPhone's (480x800 resolution); very ample for a phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't have multi-touch support in the US. It's frustrating of course but you got a more responsive input because of the improved internals.

Design

The Nexus One is probably HTC's best looking phone to date. The body is made up of two different materials: a metallic bezel that surrounds the front and side of the phone, which curves around to a custom-engraveable strip on the back. The battery cover and bottom of the phone are both covered in a rubbery plastic material that's solid and grippy, yet soft and pleasant. It's also thinner and lighter and curvier than the iPhone 3GS, and is much less sharp and masculine than the Droid.

Besides the requisite power and volume rocker buttons, there are five "buttons" on the face: one trackball and four haptic-based touch buttons. The trackball is basically useless—you'll only use it for its color-based notifications that tell you that you have a new email, text message or missed call without having to turn on the screen. As for using it as a scrolling device, the fact that scrolling around the OS or a webpage gives you inconsistent results depending on what "element" of the screen you land on means the ball is essentially useless for navigation. However, you will have to use it for text selection, because you can't hold your finger down to move the cursor—you have to use the ball to navigate to exactly where you want.

The four touch buttons for homescreen, back, menu and search do have haptic feedback when you hit them, but they're not that phenomenal either. Half the time they don't register a press when you want them to, and the other half of the time they think you're hitting it when you just wrapped your hand around the phone slightly too far.

You don't get a rocker switch for silencing the phone without looking, like on the Pre or the iPhone, but you can do the same thing quickly from the lock screen by swiping across the screen to the left. (Swiping to the right unlocks the phone.)

Real-World Use

It's fast fast fast. Part of this is due to performance gains just from using Android 2.1—people who've hacked 2.1 onto the Droid have mentioned better speeds—but a lot of it is the 1GHz processor. Every single aspect of the phone is affected when you have faster hardware on board.

Battery life lasts around a day with normal use, which includes calling, browsing, Google Mapping, push Gmailing and clothed sexting. That's on par with other smartphones now, and won't see much change until we get a dramatic boost in battery technology.

iPhone 3.0 Firmware preview dropping on March 17th

Apple is going to release a brand new iPhone firmware (iPhone 3.0 Firmware) soon which will be held in Apple's special event scheduled on March 17th. Everyone is eager to know what Apple brings in the latest firmware and we are going to learn this very soon (can't wait!). We’ve already heard rumors that it could feature multitasking and the much awaited push notifications so we will certainly be looking out for these two functions once it is outed.

Mockups for the 3rd Generation iPhone

Honestly, we have no idea what Apple has up its sleeves for us this year but to see impressively enticing leaked photos of the next generation iPhone circulating in the blogosphere is very exciting. We hope to see more of iPhone 4G mock-ups. Fingers crossed, we hope Apple could do something way much better than the mock-ups. So what's up with this post?

We are quite sure that the new iPhone will have a brand new casing if the framework of iPhone is to be retained.

Graham, over at Mac Predictions, has taken his imagination to the next level by creating some mock-ups images for the 3rd Generation iPhone (iPhone 4G).

Here is one with a textured back and metallic borders.

And one complimented by a black metallic bezel on the front.

Though these mock-ups do not give any information about features of the new iPhone, they still give a really good impression on the color scheme and the looks. If, for the sake of argument, one of these mock-ups turn out to be the new iPhone, I would go for the latter phone (black metallic bezel on the front).

Sony Ericsson updates Windows Mobile Panels SDK

The latest beta version of the Panels SDK has been released, and is available now to download free from the Sony Ericsson developer portal. Samsung $200 Dual-Sim C5212 Unveiled

Samsung recently announced the C5212, its latest Dual Sim handset with almost no compromise in terms of telephony and usability at under $200 price tag. With this latest announcement, the C5212 seems to be Samsung’s most affordable dual sim capable handset.

Phones accommodating two SIM cards are obviously a viable market niche. This is especially true when this device allows both slots operating on the 900/1800MHz bands.

It is destined for certain parts of Asia, Russia and several East European countries. As far as release date is concerned, the C5212 will be available in selected markets by the early of this month.
