Verizon Wireless Celebrates Grand Opening of Second-Generation “Evolution Store” in Toms River, NJ

Verizon Wireless celebrated the opening of its latest innovative store design at 1278 Hoover Ave, Toms River, N.J., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 9, 2012. Verizon Wireless leadership and staff were joined by Mayor Thomas Kelaher, representatives from the Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, and representatives from Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ocean County, Inc.

Extending its commitment to Ocean County, Verizon Wireless made a $2,000 donation to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ocean County, Inc, through its national HopeLine phone recycling program.

The latest evolution of the company’s store design model, the Toms River “concept store” features an open, spacious 3,100-square-foot sales floor with interactive demo stations, allowing customers to immerse themselves in a “hands-on” experience with the latest high-tech devices. The new store also and offers a “paperless” environment for customers, including the option to receive digital instead of paper purchase receipts via e-mail for their convenience.

For the 8th consecutive year, the National Association of Female Executives has named Verizon one of 50 tops companies for executive women. The list recognizes organizations that are committed to hiring, retaining and promoting executive women. At the 2012 NAFE Top Companies, women executives run 23 percent of operations that generate more than $1 billion in revenue. The Top 50 list is being published in the February/March issue of Working Mother magazine.

“With a solid leadership training curriculum, development courses, mentoring circles, executive coaching and a wealth of external initiatives, Verizon Communications has its bases covered when it comes to programs that encourage the advancement of women,” said Dr. Betty Spence, NAFE president.

Through HopeLine, Verizon Wireless has donated $7,500 to Resources for Children with Special Needs. RCSN works with New York families throughout the five boroughs who have children with disabilities and other special needs to help them understand, navigate, and access the services needed to ensure that all children have the opportunity to develop their full potential.

“We are very grateful for the grant from HopeLine from Verizon,” said Rachel Howard, Executive Director of RCSN. “It will allow us to expand our current educational programs and ensure that more NYC families affected by domestic violence have the chance to heal and grow together.”
