The Astrology of Relocation: Renovate or Relocate?

The natal horoscope is derived from the fixed date and time of birth which never changes. However the other detail, the place of birth, can be altered through emigration and relocation. So how might this adjustment change the way we view our natal chart? Let’s explore the astrological techniques that relocate a horoscope and the information that can be gleaned from them. I will also touch on techniques like astro*carto*graphy maps which depict lines throughout the world. We will discuss how we might view these maps in terms of our ancestry, our travels and our fascinations, as well as the wisdom of using relocated charts and the psychology of emigration and relocation. about Brian Clark

Brian Clark is the co-founder of the Chiron Centre, now located at WellBeing at the Convent, a wing of the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne, Australia dedicated to alternative healing therapies. He has written numerous articles on psychology, mythology and astrology, is a contributing author to Intimate Relationships (Llewellyn: 1991), the author of The Sibling Constellation (Penguin: 1999) Celestial Tarot (U.S. Games, Inc. 2007), Ancient Feminine Wisdom (oracle cards U.S. Games Inc. 2008) as well as a series of astrological publications designed for students. Today we honour Her Majesty
Juno — Queen of Heaven

When astrologers first started investigating the asteroids, Juno was touted as a symbol of marriage and partnership and the issues that arise in close relationships. That’s a start, but really the great lady who presides on Mount Olympus as the queen of all the gods and goddesses is about something much more fundamental than who does what in the relating game.

Today we shall look at the deeper implications of what ‘goddess energy’ means, what shakti is, what it means to look at the feminine principle as involved with power: real power, deep power, the power that is fundamental to all spiritual endeavour and which underpins all power in the manifest universe, come to that.

Juno, more than any other astrological symbol, shows us where the true power is in the horoscope. If you want to know where your personal power is, what some of your deepest talents are – though possibly unclaimed and unexpressed, or only partially manifested – then you need to engage with Juno and make friends with this very mighty, very splendid goddess.

Roderick Kidston was an early fan of adding asteroids to the astrologer’s repertoire, and now finds it impossible to read a horoscope fully without the so-called ‘minor planets’. The study of harmonics has also been a passion, and he is interested in a more integral approach to astrology that links with developments in depth and transpersonal psychology, metaphysics and the new physics. This includes the new
insights offered by the spiral dynamics theory of the evolution of consciousness.

Roderick has published on astrology in several places over the years, taught it, given talks and workshops in several cities, and he has spoken at several conferences since 2003. He will speak again at the FAA Conference in Melbourne in 2012, this time on Ceres, and on the two other goddesses of the agricultural cycle, Flora and Pomona.

Peter Burns – Traditional Astrology Panelist
Peter studied contemporary and ancient astrology. He has lectured around the country, at FAA Conferences and also in the USA. Peter was FAA vice president and VAA president 2006-2008, and has been the FAA Journal editor since 2000. He now runs online distance education correspondence courses through his school Ambrosia
Academy of Astrology.

Glorija Lawrence – Cosmobiology Astrology Panelist
Our VAA President Glorija started studying cosmobiology in 1983 under the watchful eye of Doris Greaves, who was authorised by Reinhold Ebertin to teach his methods in Australia. Glorija earned her Diploma in Cosmobiology (Hons) in 1989. To Glorija, astrology is a unique tool for understanding all the potential and the power of life’s journey.

Ray Factor – Mundane Astrology Panelist
Ray has been involved in astrology for nearly 30 years and teaches at the Melbourne School of Astrology. He maintains a consulting practice and also devotes considerable time to research. Ray focuses on Mundane Astrology and the symbolism behind major world issues, birth time verification and life’s ‘fated’ events.

Vic Ketis – Chinese Astrology Panelist
Vic is a Four Pillars of Destiny Chinese astrologer, a Feng Shui consultant and the founder and principal of the Australian Academy of Feng Shui, Chinese Astrology and I Ching. Vic is in private practice in Melbourne, consulting in Astrology and Feng Shui to homes, offices and business Australia-wide and internationally.

Nikki Worth – Modern Astrology Panelist
Nikki grew up with astrology and formalised her studies with a Diploma of Applied Astrology from Astro*Synthesis. She currently consults and teaches, has spoken at the VAA and FAA Conference, and has a personal interest in the Venus Occultation, especially those of 2004 and 2012—the focus of her thesis. She is Horizons Editor and also looks after all the VAA IT and Media needs.

The ability to forecast using planet cycles is something that draws many to astrology. Students want to learn how to work out what’s ahead for them. Clients want to know how different life circumstances
will play out.

While transits are one of the most commonly used forecasting techniques today, historically they were a minor inclusion in the ancient astrologer’s predictive tool kit.

In this afternoon workshop, you’ll discover the art of combining transits and secondary progressions for comprehensive, precise predictions. Used together, progressions and transits enhance, inform and modify each other, adding clarity and precision to your forecasts. We’ll also take a fresh look at some basic predictive processes to help you refine and organise your approach to forecasting.

Dynamic astrology draws on the movement of the cosmos to help illuminate the shifts within life. Everyone responds individually to the call of the planets. I’ll present my ‘angular planets theory’ to help you determine which planetary influences are most important for you. I’ll also present my ‘predictive tree model’, highlighting a simple, yet effective approach to combining transits and progressions.

Taking a systematic process, major transits, the progressed lunar cycle and key progressions are discussed, leaving you with a priority list of predictive events to incorporate into client and personal work. Along the way, we’ll touch on the use of fixed stars and planetary strength in forecasting. You’ll end up with a practical, grounded how-to guide for applying predictive astrology in real life.

Kelly Surtees holds the FAA Practitioner’s Diploma and regularly lectures at international conferences (next up – UAC in May 2012). Traditionally focused,
her specialty areas include predictive cycles and combining forecasting
techniques. A past committee member of the NSW FAA, her written work has
appeared in many publications, including The Mountain Astrologer and
