“Being able to carry the canister makes cleaning behind furniture, between appliances, and along walls makes much less of a chore. I do it more frequently, in less time, with better results. I no longer feel like I live in squalor.”

A vacuum is often rated by how well that it clean messes.  The Bissell 37601 is going to clean well.  It doesn’t matter what type of carpet you have, because you can adjust the height of the vacuum to one of seven different settings.  If you want to clean hard flooring, you just have to turn off the beater brush with the flip of a switch.

There are a lot of bagless vacuums out there that make emptying the dust cup very difficult to do.  With the Bissell Lift-Off Revolution, you aren’t going to have to worry about making a mess trying to clean up.

The Dirt Devil 0213 Kone Hand Vac is going to make vacuuming a lot more fun because of the way that the Kone looks.  Coming in several different colors, the Kone will match with your living room or bedroom decor, allowing you to keep your hand vac ready to use at a moment’s notice.

Besides looking good, the Kone is easy to use.  It is designed to stay on its recharger base.  This means you can keep it plugged in and it will always be ready to be used.  You won’t get it out to clean up in your car, only to find that the battery is dead.

The Dirt Devil 0213 is a cordless, rechargeable hand vacuum, so you can go anywhere and clean anything with this hand vacuum.  Because the nozzle is only 1.5 inches wide, you are only going to be able to pick up dust and lint with this machine.  If you have bigger items to pick up, you might want to look at a different hand vacuum.

“The Kone Cordless Hand Vac is a great product! It has terrific suction for a hand vac. I use it to pick up all the bits of dust and fluff that seem to appear on my floor between regular vacuuming.”

One thing that you might not like is that the dust cup on the Kone is pretty small, requiring you to empty it pretty often.  If you are cleaning up after a cat or a bird, you might find that you are emptying the cup a couple of times to clean up all of the seeds or the litter.  If you don’t empty it enough, you are going to find that you don’t get enough power to suck up what you want to suck up.

You won’t be messing around with emptying the dust cup every time you vacuum.

Both of these filters should last for the life of the vacuum cleaner so you won’t have anything else to buy in the future, making this vacuum’s price tag the price that you are going to pay for the life of the vacuum.

“Upon inspection of the unit after removing it from the box, I noticed that the HEPA filter was of great quality and the bactisafe screen just looked cool.”

There are only two things that people complain about this vacuum.  The first is that the power cord is really short. It is less than 22 feet, so if you have a really big home, you may need to plug and unplug it.

Getting a vacuum that looks a bit different from a typical vacuum might not be that great of an idea, unless you do your research first. Sure, it is probably going to be a conversation starter if someone catches you vacuuming, but be honest, how often are you going to brag because your vacuum looks nice?

The Miele Art S930 Bagged Upright looks different from other upright vacuums, but is it going to work well, too?

With 1000 watts of power, it could have more power, but you are probably going to find that it sucks well.  What makes the S930 easy to use is the fact that it is easier to push than a lot of other vacuums. Here is what one reviewer from Epionions had to say:

“It’s easy to negotiate around furniture and it is nice and light to carry.”

Another plus to the Art Upright Vacuum Cleaner is that it is smaller than most vacuums. This makes it easy to store. Plus, the small size makes vacuuming under furniture easier as well. The handle is going to go nearly parallel to the ground, sweeping up all of the dust from underneath a coffee table or a bed.

The final reason the Miele is a good buy is because of the way it looks. It comes in several different colors, including a lime green color and dark red, and looks pretty hip.

The Miele Art is going to be a good vacuum to buy if you have hardwood floors or tile flooring. If you have a lot of area rugs or carpet, you are going to want to try something else. The reason is that this vacuum works a lot like a canister vacuum. It just isn’t going to clean well enough to get carpets clean.

“Since I have all hardwood floors its actually works really well. But with the rugs – I need to use a heavier duty vacuum – this one just won’t cut it.”

Is This Miele A Masterpiece?

For around $200, the Miele Art S930 Bagged Upright is a nice vacuum to get if you hate canister vacuums but don’t want to blow dust and dirt all over with a regular upright. The attachments are durable, the price isn’t too high and, of course, it is a Miele vacuum. What are you waiting for?

Can you get a vacuum for less than $50? The answer is yes, but you are probably not going to want to use it and it isn’t going to do a good job. The Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagged Vacuum cleaner costs just $49, so you may be wondering if it is going to be a waste of money or a cheap vacuum to clean your rugs while you save up for a new one.

There are only a couple of good things to say about this vacuum. The first is that it has on-board tools. This is going to save you time while vacuuming. Plus, at only 12 pounds, this vacuum is easy to carry around and easy to push around.

The second positive to this vacuum is that you are going to be able to clean the entire width of the vacuum head because this vacuum is designed to clean edges well. This is going to make vacuuming easy to do and quicker to finish.

There are a couple of extras that are great with this machine. You probably wouldn’t expect a machine that costs less than $50 to have a headlight, but the Dirt Devil 085590 does. It also has a 25 foot power cord, making vacuuming a lot easier.

The final positive to this vacuum is the filter. Although it is not a HEPA filter (which would cost almost as much as the whole vacuum does), it is a Microfresh filter. Dirt Devil says that this filter is going to trap 99 percent of dust and allergens.

Notice that nothing has been said about suction. Although this vacuum has 1440 watts of power, you aren’t going to notice the power when you go over your carpet. With only a 2.5 star rating on Amazon.com, most of the negative reviews are because of the lack of suction. Here is what one reviewer said about how this vacuum should be used.

“If you have a family and need a heavy duty vacuum, this is definitely not the one for you!”

You are also going to find that this vacuum is not that durable. Running over coins is going to, at best, ruin your belt, and possibly even ruin your vacuum. If you have kids that aren’t that great about watching what they are picking up, you may not want to let them use this vacuum cleaner.

“Absolutely the cheapest, most worthless vacuum cleaner it’s ever been my displeasure to own.”

Will the FeatherLite Blow You Away?

If you only have $50 for a vacuum and need one today, then you don’t have a whole lot of choice. If you can continue using your old vacuum and avoid the Dirt Devil 085590 Featherlite then I would recommend you do so and save your money.

The Oreck 8 Pound Hotel Vacuum doesn’t get rave reviews. In fact, with only an average of two stars, it is one of the lowest ranked vacuums out there. Instead of starting with the positives, let’s just jump right to the negatives.

One thing that is mentioned over and over again is how much noise the Oreck makes. If you have stayed in a hotel and heard a vacuum cleaner from down the hall, chances are it is an Oreck. Here is what one reviewer had to do in order to vacuum.

“Right out of the box, the vacuum is so ear-splittingly loud that I had to wear ear-plugs when vacuuming.”

The 8 pound Hotel vacuum is going to be expensive to maintain. Some reviewers report going to the store and having to pay $20 for one vacuum bag. That is going to have to be calculated into the $300 price of the machine.  If you wait too long to change the bag, you are going to find that there isn’t any suction. There isn’t anything special about these bags, so there shouldn’t be a reason for them to be so expensive.

It doesn’t matter how much a vacuum weighs if it doesn’t do what it is supposed to do. The Oreck Hotel Vacuum doesn’t have the most powerful suction, so buyer beware. You may find yourself going over the same dirty spot on your carpet like this user.

Now that you know why this might not be the right vacuum for you, here are some of the positives.

The most obvious is, of course, the weight of the machine. At 8 pounds, practically anyone can take this vacuum from the first to the second floor without breaking a sweat.

Another advantage of this vacuum is that it is easy to vacuum under furniture. This is going to be a huge advantage, because this vacuum needs only a 4 inches of clearance to do its job.  This should save you time when you are cleaning.

The Oreck XL Hotel Upright Is Going To Check Out Early

With such bad reviews, the Oreck XL 8-Pound Upright Hotel Vacuum Cleaner can’t be recommended. For $300, you should be able to get a decent vacuum, but the XL isn’t it.

The Quick Up is different from most sweepers in that it is rechargeable and cordless.  You won’t have to worry about how  you vacuum, because you aren’t going to tangle yourself up in a cord.

Another thing that is nice about this vacuum is that once you buy it, you won’t have anything else to purchase for it.  Everything is included, and with a price of less than $50, it is a bargain.

Getting the Eureka Quick Up ready for action is going to be easy to do.  Here is what one reviewer had to say about how long the battery works for and how easy it is to remove in order to charge the battery.

“It holds its charge long enough to do everything I’ve ever wanted to do with it. It slips on and off its recharging holder thing easily.”

Unlike some portable vacuums, the Eureka 96B Quick Up is going to be pretty easy to push around.  Then handle can be extended, making it a lot easier to vacuum than crawling around the floor with a handheld vacuum.

Another feature that you will like is that this stick vacuum has a bare floors/carpet switch, making it easy to turn on and off the motor-driven brush roll.  There aren’t that many sub-$50 stick vacs that allow you to go from hard floors to carpet that easily .

A final advantage to this vacuum is that there is a built-in edge cleaner, so that you won’t have to get out your big vacuum and the attachments to get close to the walls.  This is going to save time while vacuuming.

You may have problems with a couple of things with the Eureka  Quick Up.  The first is the suction.  Here is what one reviewer had to say.

“A chore of mine is picking up scattered (dry) cat food kibble from the hardwood floors and all this machine does is spread it around. Dust and lint appear to get vacuumed, but anything larger than a grain of cat litter is too much for it to handle.”

Dirt Devil calls this machine a carpet steamer, but in reality it doesn’t make steam. It has a 5 row brush that is going to get spots and everyday wear out of your carpet.

What is nice about this machine is that the tanks for clean and dirty water are one gallon each. With deep cleaners that have smaller tanks, you are going to have to run to the kitchen to empty and refill tanks frequently, slowing down your progress.

Another thing that is great with this machine is the power. With 1440 watts of power, you are going to be able to get a lot of stains up. Using it is really easy to do. Just fill the tank with hot water, add some detergent and push. Everything is automatic, making cleaning up easy to do. The only thing that you might not like about the Dirt Devil CE6600 is that it is a bit difficult to push, especially when you have the water tank filled up. One gallon of water is heavy, and added to the weight of the steamer equals a lot of dead weight.
