(Such is the overly dramatic description of an author's life!) She holds a BA in Literature, yet loves a good Calculus problem, as well. All that confusion must have influenced her decision to be team captain of a winning team on Family Feud.

Her debut novel, The Familiar Stranger, released from Moody in September and deals with lies, secrets, and themes of forgiveness in a troubled marriage. When an accident lands Craig in the ICU, with fuzzy memories of his own life and plans, Denise rushes to his side, ready to care for him.

They embark on a quest to help Craig remember who he is and, in the process, they discover dark secrets. An affair? An emptied bank account? A hidden identity? An illegitimate child?

But what will she do when she realizes he's not the man she thought he was? Is this trauma a blessing in disguise, a chance for a fresh start? Or will his secrets destroy the life they built together?

If you would like to read the first chapter of The Familiar Stranger, go HERE

Whirlwind

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Whirlwind

Thomas Nelson (December 29, 2009)

by

Robert Liparulo

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/Sxx_4GyycUI/AAAAAAAADNg/VTdY78NVa6Q/s320/A-DSC00770.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412341454065529154" />Robert Liparulo is a former journalist, with over a thousand articles and multiple writing awards to his name. His first novel, Comes a Horseman, released to critical acclaim. Each of his subsequent thrillers—Germ, Deadfall, and Deadlock—secured his place as one of today’s most popular and daring thriller writers.

He is known for investing deep research and chillingly accurate predictions of near-future scenarios into his stories. In fact, his thorough, journalistic approach to research has resulted in his becoming an expert on the various topics he explores in his fiction, and he has appeared on such media outlets as CNN and ABC Radio.

Liparulo’s visual style of writing has caught the eye of Hollywood producers. Currently, three of his novels for adults are in various stages of development for the big screen: the film rights to Comes A Horseman. were purchased by the producer of Tom Clancy’s movies; and Liparulo is penning the screenplays for GERM and Deadfall for two top producers. He is also working with the director Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, Holes) on a political thriller. Novelist Michael Palmer calls Deadfall “a brilliantly crafted thriller.” March 31st marked the publication of Deadfall’s follow-up, Deadlock, which novelist Gayle Lynds calls, “best of high-octane suspense.”

Liparulo’s bestselling young adult series, Dreamhouse Kings, debuted last year with House of Dark Shadows and Watcher in the Woods. Book three, Gatekeepers, released in January, and number four, Timescape, in July. The series has garnered praise from readers, both young and old, as well as attracting famous fans who themselves know the genre inside and out. Of the series, Goosebumps creator R.L. Stine says, “I loved wandering around in these books. With a house of so many great, haunting stories, why would you ever want to go outside?”

With the next two Dreamhouse books “in the can,” he is currently working on his next thriller, which for the first time injects supernatural elements into his brand of gun-blazing storytelling. The story is so compelling, two Hollywood studios are already in talks to acquire it—despite its publication date being more than a year away. After that comes a trilogy of novels, based on his acclaimed short story, which appeared in James Patterson’s Thriller anthology. New York Times bestselling author Steve Berry calls Liparulo’s writing “Inventive, suspenseful, and highly entertaining . . . Robert Liparulo is a storyteller, pure and simple.” He lives with his family in Colorado.

Visit Robert Liparulo's Facebook Fan page: http://www.facebook.com/LiparuloFans

ABOUT THE BOOK

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 157px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/Sxx5ZSISJVI/AAAAAAAADNY/NU7o1ahGfTY/s400/whirlwind.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412334327462765906" />Which door do you go through to save the world?

David, Xander, and Toria King never know where the mysterious portals in their house will take them: past, present, or future. They have battled gladiators and the German army, dodged soldiers on both sides of the Civil War, and jumped from the sinking Titanic. They've also seen the stark future that awaits if they can't do something to change it--a destroyed city filled with mutant creatures.

And they've still got to find a way to bring Mom back and keep Taksidian from getting them out of the house. The dangers are hitting them like a whirlwind . . . but the answers are becoming apparent as well.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Whirlwind, go HERE

Houston, We Have A Problem

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZnSPkUlCP5Q/SxXJCz6H5pI/AAAAAAAAAZk/3VfZFhZHPOg/s320/IMG_5270.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410451577486435986" />

(That's the speaker those famous words were relayed through. Yesterday, his friend Vic came into town to stay with us for the week and sat down on the sofa while I was watching them. Worf popped up on the screen (he is one of the main characters - he's there a lot!) and Vic goes "Oh I miss him - I should call." Then he pulls out his phone and calls Worf (Michael Dorn) while I'm sitting there watching him on my tv. Strange. Strange. Strange. But so very cool to my little geeky self. Happiness abounds!

Hello World

Wow. I've been a horrible blogger, but you know what? I really have missed this - writing, friendships, exploring, picture taking. My life has been crazy since July when my job took a turn for the different. It's much more stressful and time consuming, but I'm trying to get my life back on track and that includes my blog among other things.

I hope you've all had a lovely Thanksgiving. We were lucky and Jeff actually had the day off. We had a late lunch at his parents house then watched the Cowboys game. The turkey was good, but I think my favorite part was the deviled eggs and pumpkin pie! Vader even got a bowl of turkey dog food, so he was able to enjoy the day too.

I've spent most of my four days off watching Star Trek : The Next Generation. I love this show and Jeff got me the series set for my birthday. I enjoy it much more than the original Star Trek, but I guess that's because I grew up with Wesley Crusher :)

I plan to be here more often again - Thanks for stopping by!

Random Thought

Do you think they have a Law & Order channel in Heaven?

The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow

Abingdon Press (September 2009)

by

Joyce Magnin

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 198px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SsA5wHJPKtI/AAAAAAAADEw/IdslpuwOWAQ/s320/untitled.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5386368653049408210" />Joyce Magnin is the author of short fiction and personal experience articles. No longer able or willing to leave her home, where she is cared for by her long-suffering sister Griselda, Agnes has committed her life to the one thing she can do-besides eat. Agnes Sparrow prays and when Agnes prays things happen, including major miracles of the cancer, ulcer-healing variety along with various minor miracles not the least of which is the recovery of lost objects and a prize-winning pumpkin.

The rural residents of Bright's Pond are so enamored with Agnes they plan to have a sign erected on the interstate that reads, "Welcome to Bright's Pond, Home of Agnes Sparrow." This is something Agnes doesn't want and sends Griselda to fight city hall.

Griselda's petitions are shot down and the sign plans press forward until a stranger comes to town looking for his miracle from Agnes. The truth of Agnes's odd motivation comes out when the town reels after a shocking event. How could Agnes allow such evil in their midst? Didn't she know?

Well, the prayers of Agnes Sparrow have more to do with Agnes than God. Agnes has been praying to atone for a sin committed when she was a child. After some tense days, the townsfolk, Griselda, and Agnes decide they all need to find their way back to the true source of the miracles-God.

If you would like to read the first chapter of The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow, go HERE

The Blue Enchantress

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

The Blue Enchantress

Barbour Books (August 1, 2009)

by

M.L.Tyndall

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SqRmt-ASo1I/AAAAAAAADCs/7E_Ikss4HFM/s320/Mltyndall3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378536794911581010" />
M. L. (MaryLu) Tyndall grew up on the beaches of South Florida loving the sea and the warm tropics. But despite the beauty around her, she always felt an ache in her soul--a longing for something more.

After college, she married and moved to California where she had two children and settled into a job at a local computer company. Although she had done everything the world expected, she was still miserable. She hated her job and her marriage was falling apart.

Still searching for purpose, adventure and true love, she spent her late twenties and early thirties doing all the things the world told her would make her happy, and after years, her children suffered, her second marriage suffered, and she was still miserable.

One day, she picked up her old Bible, dusted it off, and began to read. Somewhere in the middle, God opened her hardened heart to see that He was real, that He still loved her, and that He had a purpose for her life, if she'd only give her heart to Him completely.

She had written stories her whole life, but never had the confidence to try and get any of them published. But as God began to change her heart, He also showed her that writing had been His wonderful plan for her all along!

Her other current release in the Charles Towne Belles series includes The Red Siren.

ABOUT THE BOOK

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 208px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SqRkxS-UU6I/AAAAAAAADCk/WbO-oi4vXO0/s320/The+Blue+Enchantress+Cover.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378534653056799650" />Betrayed by the man she longed to marry, Hope Westcott is about to be auctioned off as a slave to the highest bidder on an island in the Caribbean . After enduring a difficult childhood in an unloving home, Hope?s search for love and self-worth have led her down a very dangerous path. All she ever wanted was to find true love and open an orphanage where she could raise children with all the love she never experienced as a child.? But how can a woman with a sordid past ever hope to run an orphanage, let alone attract the love of an honorable man?

Determined to overcome the shame of his mother?s past, Nathaniel Mason worked for many years to build his own fleet of merchant ships in an effort to finally acquire the respect of Charles Towne society. Ignoring the call of God on his life to become a preacher, he forges ahead with his plans for success at a distant port in the Caribbean , when he sees a young lady he knows from Charles Towne being sold as a slave. In an effort to save Hope, he is forced to sell one of his two ships, only to discover that her predicament was caused by her own bad behavior. Angry and determined to rid himself of her as soon as possible, Nathaniel embarks on a journey that will change the course of his life.

If you would like to read the first chapter of The Blue Enchantress, go HERE

View The Book Trailer:

TIMESCAPE

IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THESE YET...

Currently, three of his novels for adults are in various stages of development for the big screen: the film rights to Comes A Horseman. were purchased by the producer of Tom Clancy’s movies; and Liparulo is penning the screenplays for GERM and Deadfall
for two top producers.

ABOUT THE BOOK

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 260px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SnZAPLSDQfI/AAAAAAAAC8k/IIPHD5YIA_s/s400/Timescape.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365546635529241074" />David, Xander, Dad, and Keal have discovered a terrible secret. Now, finding Mom is only a small part of their mission. And time is running out. Using the portals to build an empire, Taksidian wants the house for himself, and there's nothing he won't do to get the family out. The consequences of his meddling reach far beyond the family--to the future of the world itself. The Kings know their survival depends on stopping the bloodthirsty assassin. If only they can find his weakness in time.

Most startling of all is their ability to change the path of history. But will their tinkering in time reunite the family and save the future . . . or set mankind on an irreversible course of destruction?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 339px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SnZFMM_bJEI/AAAAAAAAC8s/zQQrXZ_DGmI/s400/invite_18_opt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5365552082006516802" />If you would like to read the first chapter of Timescape, go HERE

Enter the contest to win this book package by clicking on the image!!!

Offworld

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Offworld

Bethany House (July 1, 2009)

by

Robin Parrish

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robin Parrish had two great ambitions in his life: to have a family, and to be a published novelist. I borrowed it from L^2 at Dog's Eye View.

01. Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
I rarely snack while I read - sometimes I will read while I eat dinner. It just depends on life at the moment.

02. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
I don't mark my books. If something catches me and I want to remember I will mark the page with a post-it note and write it down at a later time.

03. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
I always use a bookmark of some kind. You can tell any book I've been reading on a plane because my boarding pass is my bookmark (that way I don't lose my personal ones!)

04. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
I prefer fiction, but I will read non-fiction as well.

05. Hard copy or audiobooks?
Both! Lately I've been listening to audiobooks of hard copy books I already own just to have the time to absorb them. (Harry Potter Books 6 & 7) I do prefer to read the books.

06. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
I always try to read to the end of the chapter, but I will also stop at section breaks if they are available. I can't remember where I stopped if I stop in mid thought process.

07. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?
I don't usually read things that complicated!

08. What are you currently reading?
Timescape by Robert Liparulo

09. What is the last book you bought?
Sweet Waters by Julie Carobini

10. Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?
I'm starting to be - I usually have a book at home; a book in my purse and my audio book going now.

11. Do you like re-reading books?
I keep most of my books to re-read them, but I rarely do. The Diary of Anne Frank is one that I've read over and over again.

Through The Fire - CFBA

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Through The Fire

Bethany House (July 1, 2009)

by

Shawn Grady

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 253px; height: 226px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SmB2aKocSlI/AAAAAAAAC7E/PM8XyuZi8lc/s400/shawnphoto2.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359413748473547346" />Shawn Grady signed with Bethany House Publishers in 2008. He was named “Most Promising New Writer” at the 39th Annual Mount Hermon Writers Conference. Through the Fire is his debut novel.

Shawn has served for over a decade as a firefighter and paramedic in northern Nevada. From fire engines and ambulances to tillered ladder trucks and helicopters, Shawn’s work environment has always been dynamic. The line of duty has carried him to a variety of locale, from high-rise fires in the city to the burning heavy timber of the eastern Sierras.

Shawn attended Point Loma Nazarene University as a Theology undergrad before shifting direction to acquire an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science Technology as well as Paramedic licensure through Truckee Meadows Community College.

Shawn currently lives in Reno, Nevada, just outside of Lake Tahoe. The son of a fireman, O'Neill has a sixth sense about fire and often takes dangerous risks. When one act of disobedience nearly gets a rookie killed, O'Neill is suspended. His weeks off are supposed to be a time to reflect but instead he escapes to Mexico, where another rash act of bravery actually kills him. But only for a few minutes.

Called back to Reno, he's now haunted by visions of hell and paralyzed in the face of fire. And at the worst time, because an arsonist is targeting Reno. With a growing love interest with one of the investigators complicating everything, Aidan must discover where his trust rests as the fires creep ever closer.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Through The Fire, go HERE

Pirate Hunter

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Pirate Hunter

Bethany House (July 1, 2009)

by

Tom Morrisey

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SHP4UdtjmNI/AAAAAAAABn4/oQdYx0KhWPs/s320/Tom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5220789423509313746" />Tom Morrisey is a mountaineer, aviator, shipwreck diver, and explorer, who holds a Full Cave certification from the National Speleological Society - Cave Diving Section.

He has launched, edited or contributed to numerous national publications and is an award-winning adventure-travel writer. The police in
her small town are well aware she makes money writing of her
experiences. Worse yet, she has no proof of the threats. Pictures of a
dead man mysteriously appear in her home—then vanish before police
arrive. Multisensory images flood Kaycee’s mind. Where is all this
coming from?

Maybe she is going over the edge.

High action and psychological suspense collide in this story of terror,
twists, and desperate faith. The startling questions surrounding Kaycee
pile high. Her descent to answers may prove more than she can survive.

To read the first chapter, go HERE.

10 on Tuesday

10 Things You’d Bring on a Deserted Island

1. Now a widower, Dennis is finally alone in his house, his daughter attending college out of state. When he's stricken by a paralyzing case of writer's block and a looming deadline, Dennis becomes desperate. Against better judgment, he claims someone else's writing as his own, accepting undeserved accolades for the stolen work. He thinks he's gotten away with it . . . until he's greeted by a young man named Cillian Reed--the true author of the stolen manuscript.

What begins as a minor case of harassment quickly spirals out of control. As Cillian's threats escalate, Dennis finds himself on the brink of losing his career, his sanity, and even his life. The horror he's spent years writing about has arrived on his doorstep, and Dennis has nowhere to run.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Ghostwriter, go HERE

Scream - CFBA

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Scream

Realms (March 3, 2009)

by

Mike Dellosso

ABOUT THE BOOK

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_m32TlugOPkM/SiXXK_PbJFI/AAAAAAAACx4/TzEYRdFwCH4/s320/scream.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342913116719752274" />
Otherworldly Screams...
A Madman on the Loose...
This Time the Stakes Are Higher Than Ever

While talking to his friend on the phone, Mark Stone is startled by a cacophony of otherworldly screams. This is the first book in the Temperance Brennan series and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thrilling, crime story. (The TV Series "Bones" is based on the character of Temperance Brennan) This story doesn't introduce you to the character you are used to seeing on television, but you can sure see the similarities! It's a fairly fast read and I look forward to picking up the next book in this series.

Disney Cruise - Part 3

Friday was our final day on board the Disney Magic, Castaway Cay & our 10 Year Wedding Anniversary. It was beautiful and much quieter than my skydiving adventure! Then we headed over to the "adult only" side of the island for a little peace & quiet with our friends. (Yes I have on long sleeves - I told you I was a little lobster!)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ZnSPkUlCP5Q/ShrxdhnbvNI/AAAAAAAAAX4/TKKWEkMVusA/s320/IMG_5002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339845797743410386" />

After a peaceful afternoon, we headed back to the ship to get ready for dinner. We were able to get reservations in the "adult only" restaurant on board - Palo. It was amazing. Our friends had eaten there earlier in the week and had recommended a server - I'm so glad they did. Ciao was amazing!!! And he made our experience there top notch.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ZnSPkUlCP5Q/ShryK4lv3dI/AAAAAAAAAYA/U--Md6CNiTI/s320/IMG_5022.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339846577004469714" />

Our Disney Cruise was an amazing experience!
