പുതു ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കുന്ന ഒരാൾ പോലും ഇങ്ങിനെ മോശമായ അവസ്ഥ നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടാകും എന്ന് സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ പോലും കരുതിയല്ല വിവാഹ ബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെടുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി ചെറിയ ചെറിയ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഉടലെടുക്കുകയും അത് പുകഞ്ഞ് പുകഞ്ഞ് ഒടുവിൽ അണയ്ക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വിധം കത്തിപ്പടരുകയും ചെയ്യും. പിന്നെ വേർപിരിയുക എന്ന തലത്തിലേയ്ക്ക് എത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

എങ്ങിനെ കുടുംബജീവിതത്തെ നെരിപ്പോടുകളാക്കാതെ, പുകയാതെ, കത്തിപ്പടരാതെ നോക്കാം?

കഴിഞ്ഞ തലമുറയിലെ കുട്ടികളിൽ പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്ക് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഇന്നത്തേതു പോലെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. രാവിലെ അച്ഛനും സഹോദരന്മാരും കിടന്നുറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ പെൺകുട്ടികൾ അമ്മയോടൊപ്പം എഴുന്നേറ്റ് മുറ്റമടിയും അടുക്കളപ്പണികളിലും മുഴുകിയിരിക്കും. വൈകിയുണരുന്ന ആണ്മക്കൾക്ക് പ്ളേറ്റ് കഴുകി പ്രാതൽ മേശപ്പുറത്ത് എത്തുമ്പോൾ അവൾ സ്വന്തമായി പ്ളേറ്റ് കഴുകി പ്രാതൽ എടുത്തു കഴിക്കുന്നു. സഹോദരനോടൊപ്പം സ്കൂളിൽ പോയി ഒരു പക്ഷേ സഹോദരനെക്കാൾ നന്നായി പഠിക്കുന്നു.
വൈകുന്നേരം സ്കൂളിൽ നിന്ന് എത്തിയാലോ ആൺകുട്ടികൾക്ക് പുറത്തു പോയി കളിക്കാനുള്ള അവസരം ഉണ്ട്. അവരെ സാധനങ്ങൾ വാങ്ങാൻ പോകുക, കൃഷി, മറ്റു ജോലികൾ തുടങ്ങി അച്ഛനെ സഹായിക്കുന്നതിനും പരിശീലിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. പെൺകുട്ടി വീട് വൃത്തിയാക്കലും പൂജാ വിളക്ക് തയാറാക്കലും ചിലപ്പോൾ പിറ്റേന്നേയ്ക്കുള്ള പ്രാതലിന്റെ മാവ് അരയ്ക്കലും ഉണ്ടാവും. കൂടെ പുട്ടിനു പീരയിടുന്നതുപോലെ “അന്യവീട്ടിൽ പോയി ജീവിക്കാനുള്ളതാണ് “ എന്ന ഉപദേശവും.

ഈ സമ്പ്രദായം അനേകം വർഷങ്ങളുടെ ജീവിത രീതിയിൽ ഉരുത്തിരിഞ്ഞു വന്നതാണ്. പുരുഷൻ ജോലി ചെയ്തു പണം സമ്പാദിച്ച് കുടുംബം പോറ്റുകയും, സ്ത്രീ വീട്ടുകാര്യങ്ങളും കുട്ടികളുടെ കാര്യങ്ങളും നോക്കുക വഴി കെട്ടുറപ്പുള്ള ഒരു കുടുംബജീവിതം കെട്ടിപ്പടുക്കുക എന്ന തത്വത്തിൽ ഊന്നിയായിരുന്നു ഇത്. അത് ഭാരത (ഹിന്ദു) സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്നു. അതിനുള്ള പരിശീലനമാണ് പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്കും ആൺകുട്ടികൾക്കും ചുമതലപ്പെട്ട മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞ ചിട്ടവട്ടങ്ങൾ.

പാശ്ചാത്യ മത സംസ്കാരങ്ങൾ വന്നതോടെ സ്ത്രീയും പുരുഷനും പണം സമ്പാദിക്കണമെന്നും സ്ത്രീയുടെ ജീവിതം പുരുഷന്റെ അടിമയായി അടുക്കളയിൽ പുകച്ചു തീർക്കാനുള്ളതല്ല എന്ന നിലയിലേക്ക് കാര്യങ്ങൾ മാറി മറിഞ്ഞു.

ഈ ചിന്താഗതി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമുള്ള എല്ലാപേരും അംഗീകരിച്ചതിനാൽ ഇന്നത്തെ പെൺകുട്ടികളെ വീട്ടു ജോലികളിൽ നിന്ന് പൂർണ്ണമായി ഒഴിവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നുവെന്നു മാത്രമല്ല, ആൺ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് കൊടുക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ പരിഗണനയും നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അതുമൂലം ആഹാരം പാകം ചെയ്യുന്നതുൾപ്പെടെ വീട്ടു ജോലികളിൽ ഒരു പരിചയവും അവർക്കുണ്ടാവില്ല എന്നത് വ്യക്തവുമാണ്.

ഇന്ന് ആൺകുട്ടികളേക്കാൾ ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടിയ പെൺകുട്ടികളുടെ എണ്ണം വളരെ കൂടുതലാണ്. പെൺകുട്ടിയുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനനുസരിച്ചുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസമുള്ള ആൺകുട്ടികളെ ഭർത്താവായി ലഭിക്കുക എന്നതു തന്നെ പലപ്പോഴും ദുഷ്കരവുമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ജോലി വേണം എന്നും സ്വന്തം കാലിൽ നിൽക്കണമെന്നുള്ള ചിന്താഗതിയുള്ളവരാണ് വിദ്യാസമ്പന്നരായ ഇന്നത്തെ പെൺകുട്ടികൾ. ജോലി കിട്ടിയിട്ടു മതി വിവാഹം എന്നു തീരുമാനമെടുക്കുന്ന പെൺകുട്ടികളുടെ എണ്ണം കൂടിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ മിക്ക പുരുഷന്മാരും ജോലിയുള്ള പെൺകുട്ടികളെയാണ് ഭാര്യയായി അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതും.

വയസായ എന്റെ അമ്മയെ സഹായിക്കാനാണ് ഞാൻ കെട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നത്. അമ്മ ഇതുവരെ ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ ജോലിയും ഭാര്യ ഇന്നുമുതൽ ചെയ്യണം എന്ന് ഭർത്താവ് കരുതുന്നു. ഞാൻ അനുഭവിച്ച എല്ലാ ദുരിതങ്ങളും മരുമകൾ മനസിലാക്കണം എന്നാലേ അവൾ ഒരു ഉത്തമ ഭാര്യയാകൂ എന്ന് അമ്മായിയമ്മ കരുതുന്നു. ലോകവും ജീവിത രീതിയും മാറിയെങ്കിലും മാറാത്ത ഈ ചിന്താഗതിയാണ് സകല പ്രശ്നങ്ങളുടേയും പ്രധാന കാരണം.

അടുക്കളക്കാര്യങ്ങളിലും മറ്റും ഒരു പരിചയവുമില്ലാതെ വന്നു കയറുന്ന പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്ക് മേൽപ്പറഞ്ഞ തലത്തിലേക്ക് മാറാൻ കഴിയാത്തതുമൂലം കേൾക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്ന കുത്തു വാക്കുകളിൽ കടന്നു വരിക അവളുടെ അച്ഛനേയോ അമ്മയേയോ തെറി പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടായിരിക്കും. ഇത് കൂടുതൽ സങ്കീർണ്ണമാക്കും. ഒരാൾക്കും സ്വന്തം അച്ഛനേയോ അമ്മയേയോ തെറി വിളിക്കുന്നത് ഒരിക്കലും സഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല എന്നത് ഒരു പരമാർത്ഥമാണ്.

പുരുഷനെപ്പോലെ തന്നെ എട്ടും പത്തും മണിക്കൂറുകൾ ജോലി ചെയ്തശേഷം യാത്ര ചെയ്ത് ക്ഷീണിച്ച് വീട്ടിലെത്തുന്ന ഭാര്യയിൽ നിന്ന്, തന്റെ അമ്മ അച്ഛനോടു കാട്ടുന്ന അതേ ശുശ്രൂഷയും പരിഗണയുമൊക്കെയായി പൂമുഖ വാതിൽക്കൽ സ്നേഹം വിതറി പൂന്തിങ്കളായി പുഞ്ചിരിയുമായി ചായയുമായി വന്നു നിൽക്കുന്ന രംഗം പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് മണ്ടത്തരമാണ്.
ഇനി ജോലിയില്ലാത്ത പെൺകുട്ടിയായാൽ പോലും അവളും തന്നെപ്പോലെ പഠിച്ചാണ് വളർന്നതെന്നും അടുക്കളപ്പണിയും ഭർതൃ ശുശ്രൂഷയും പഠിച്ചല്ല വന്നതെന്നും മനസിലാക്കി അവൾക്ക് എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും പഠിച്ചെടുക്കാനുള്ള അവസരം കൊടുക്കണം. സ്വന്തം മകന്റെ കുടുംബ ജീവിതം നന്നായിക്കാണണം എന്നു കരുതുന്ന അച്ചനമ്മമാരും, വീട്ടു ജോലിയിൽ ആ കുട്ടിയുടെ അറിവ് പരിമിതമാണെന്നും അവൾ വളർന്നു വന്ന സാഹചര്യവും മനസിലാക്കുകയും തങ്ങളുടെ വയസാം കാലത്ത് അവളാണ് സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടത് എന്നു കൂടി ചിന്തിച്ച് വീട്ടു ജോലിയിലും, കുട്ടികളെ വളർത്തുന്ന കാര്യത്തിലും അവളെ കാര്യമായി തന്നെ സഹായിക്കാനും മനസുണ്ടാവണം. കുത്തുവാക്കുകൾ പൂർണ്ണമായും ഒഴിവാക്കുക. അങ്ങിനെ ചെയ്താൽ സ്വന്തം മക്കളിൽ നിന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭിക്കാവുന്നതിനേക്കാൾ സ്നേഹം അവളിൽ നിന്നു ലഭിക്കും തീർച്ച. നേരേ മറിച്ച് അവളെ എല്ലാറ്റിനും കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി മകനോട് പരാതി പറഞ്ഞ് പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചാൽ മകന്റെ ജീവിതം കലുഷിതമാകും എന്ന കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാണ്. സഹോദരൻ ഭാര്യയേയും കൊണ്ട് സിനിമയ്ക്കും കറങ്ങാൻ പോകുകയും തങ്ങളോടുള്ള അടുപ്പം കുറഞ്ഞതായും തോന്നുന്ന നാത്തൂന്മാരിൽ നിന്നും അസൂയകൊണ്ടുള്ള പീഢനങ്ങൾ വേറെ.

Angel Falls is the world's highest waterfall, with a height of 979 meters (3,212 ft) and a plunge of 807 meters (2,647 ft)

It is located in the Canaima National Park , an UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolivar State , Venezuela . It is one of the country's top tourist destinations despite its isolated location

Did you know the height of the falls is so great, that before getting anywhere near the ground, the water is atomized by the strong winds and turned into mist? The mist can be felt a mile (1.6 km) away!

The base of the falls feeds into the Kerep River (alternatively known as the Rio Gauya), which flows into the Churun River , a tributary of the Carrao River

Apparently, the falls were not known to the outside world until American aviator Jimmie Angel flew over them on November 16, 1933 during a flight searching for a valuable ore bed. Returning on October 9, 1937, Angel tried to land his Flamingo monoplane, El Rio Caroni atop the mountain, but the plane was damaged when the wheels sank into the marshy ground. He and his three companions, including his wife Marie, were then forced to descend the mountain on foot. It took them 11 days to make their way back to civilization, but news of their adventure spread, and the waterfall was named Angel Falls in his honor. Angelâ's plane remained on top of the mountaintop for 33 years before being lifted out by helicopter. It was restored at the Aviation Museum in Maracay and now sits outdoors on the front of the airport at Ciudad BolÃvar.

Icebreaker
25 pounds of sugar cooked at varying temperatures. It's basically made out of candy, salt, egg whites, corn syrup, cream of tartar, powdered sugar, blue food coloring, india ink & flour.Three days of cooking, and two weeks of building.

Everything We Ever Were

It took two months to store up enough fireplace ash to create this lunar landscape. The darker rocks are made of mixed tilegrout, flag crumpled paper and wire. The Earth is a video stilllprojected onto the wall. Inspired by the Apollo 11 mission.

Tornado is made of steel wool, cotton, ground parsley and moss.

Paprika Mars

Made out of 12 pounds paprika, cinnamon, nutmeg, chili powder and charcoal.

Breaking Point

Volcano made out of tile grout, cotton, phosphorous ink. This model volcano was illuminated from within by 6-60 watt light bulbs.

Salt Water Falls

Model made out of glass, plexiglass, tile grout, moss, twigs, salt, painted canvas & dry ice. The waterfall was created from a time exposure of falling table salt.

Fields, After the Storm

This model is simply made out of faux fur(fields), cotton (clouds) and sifted tile grout(mountains). The perspective is forced as in all of my images, and the lighting effect was created by simply shifting the white balance.

Aurora Borealis

This one was made by photographing a beam of colored light against a black curtain to achieve the edge effect. The trees were composited from life ( so far the only real life element in any of these images) The stars are simply strobe light through holes in cork board.

Waterglass Mountains

This one is a mixture of many different materials, tile grout, moss, bottle brushes (pine trees) Actual clippings from ground cover and was built on top of standard outdoor patio table (water glass). The sky is canvas painted blue. Coloring was again achieved by shifting white balance.

Planet

This was another experimental view of Mars. The materials are paprika, cinnamon and chili powder (planet) and coffee and sugar (starfield) were sifted over the floor of my studio. The planet was photographed from 12 feet in the air. Although it looked cool, I abandoned this flat method of modeling because in the end I felt it too illustrative next to all the other landscapes.

The Beginning

Ground made of parsley bush clippings and moss (trees) Tile grout (mountains) & cotton for clouds in the distance. Dry ice was used for the atmospheric perspective.
