I attended the second and first shows respectively over the two day event.&nbsp;Ankara fabrics dominated the cat walk with a focus on mixture of fabrics and embroidery on one end &nbsp;and, collections showing a strong preference for &nbsp;silky fabrics, leather and even burlap&nbsp;on the &nbsp;other. <br /> <br /> Being a first &nbsp;AFWL there were a few hiccups but there was overwhelming support for the event from the general public and press. Another African Fashion Week. This time in the uber-trendy&nbsp;city of London for which it is a first. Over 60 designers from Africa and Diaspora will showcase their designs and &nbsp;AFWL promises not to be the standard fashion week type event as it will feature choreographed fashion shows, live music, Dj sets and exhibitions.&nbsp;AFWL will be held on the 5th and 6th of August at the Gibson Hall in central London&nbsp;and Vakwetu will be attending. &nbsp;With the continued hype of Ankara fabrics (which we still love by the way) will we see post-Ankara forms of expression?
